36 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/24/2023

Vehicle will delay acceleration when I have stopped at a stop sign or stop light. When I press the gas pedal it will delay acceleration for a couple of seconds and then final take off. It doesn't happen often and I find that if I turn the engine off and wait a few minutes and start it again, it goes away for several days but does return.

37 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/13/2023

I went to autoworx on February 9, 2023 to purchase a 2009 Nissan Altima. The vehicle was very nice, looked good, no warning lights or anything. Drove great for about a week or 2. Then the car started breaking without me pressing the breaks. So I returned the car to autoworx to have them check it out. The mechanic was assuring that the problem had been taking care of. After making another large payment that day, I left drove the car about a week. That's when the car started shaking. I mean shaking hard too and the service engine soon light comes on the dash board. So I take the car back to them on Monday March 13, 2023. The mechanic says "OH, make an appointment for Friday and I'll take the car to the shop so I can see what is going on". I made the appointment & continued to drive the car. In the days between Monday to Friday, the car began shaking harder. Suddenly, on Thursday March 16, 2023,while driving home the car stops accelerating. I had to keep turning the car off and on to get it going. On Friday, March 17, 2023 I arrived at the autoworx location at 10:30am (the appointment time). When I arrived no one was there. We sat and waited for nearly an hr and a half. Once they arrived they looked at the car, drove it away and came back. After sitting there for 2/3 hours, the owner (daniel) called me outside to inform me that the catylac converter was bad (which they knew on Monday when I came in) and by me driving the car longer, the transmission has went out. At this point I am furious! because at no point did they tell me that the car needed a catalytic converter. So we sat there a little longer with no way to go home. Daniel then comes and mentions "I'll get you all an uber". He ordered the uber (just to get us away). I have looked into the carfax on the 2009 Nissan Altima and found that the odometer had been rolled back several times. I bought the car at 121,000 miles. After, looking at the carfax the car has darn near 300,000 miles on it. I got ripped off ?.

38 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/03/2023

I was driving my 2017 Nissan Altima sv, today on 3/3/23, and had just got on to a busy highway. I had my foot on the gas pedal trying to get to 60 mph. However, the car wouldn't accelerate past 40mph and was making a humming noise, even as I floored it. I looked to see if the car was in another gear but it was in drive. I had to pull the to slow lane and try to find a place to turn off. I came to an intersection where I had to stop, and again, couldn't accelerate to the 60mph that other traffic was traveling. It would only go about 40mph. People were changing lanes to pass me in busy Friday afternoon traffic. I finally found a shopping center to stop as I didn't want to get on the freeway to get home. I stopped the car but ended up eventually getting on the freeway and didn't have the problem again for the 15 miles. No check engine light came on at all during the acceleration problems. I have been researching the problem and the car may have gone into limp mode. I am taking the car to the shop tomorrow. I don't drive the car a lot, and it doesn't have a lot of miles on it, so I'm very surprised and terrified now to drive the car. I've been reading people with Altimas saying they have had a hard time getting a diagnosis for this problem because it doesn't occur sometimes at the shop. It's distressing to think this problem may come and go and I could be in 70mph traffic on a busy freeway, which I often am. I have not been in an accident, so no inspections until tomorrow when I go to the mechanic. This if the first time this has happened and I had no indication there could be a problem. I have barely been driving my car for the past two years as I have been working remotely. I bought Nissan 100% because it had a good reputation, but now I'm reading about this weird and potentially deadly problem.

39 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/22/2023

After stopping at red light, vehicle could not go more than 10mph. Stop the vehicle, turn off and restarted, now vehicle could not go further or reverse. Luckly, at the intersection, I did not get into accident. My Altima is at 65000 miles. Nissan Altima cvt had an issue and need to recall for this fix. I saw Nissan did recall up to 2016 Altima, some reason, they did not include 2017 Altima. Please take a look into 2017 Altima data from repair and dealers shop to find out how much consumers are paying out and got into safety issue.

40 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/21/2023

When driving my Nissan I had stop at light/ stop sign. My car notify me with a check engine light. It wouldn't accelerate in a matter of seconds I was able to continue driving. I notice it happens every time I have to stop at lights and or stop signs frequently. It first started at about 85,000 miles. I bought it at 65,000 miles I still owe for the car I took it to Nissan and they told me that it no longer had a warranty for the transmission. It has alittle over 100,000 just think that if there's alot of consumers complaining about the same issue it needs to be investigated and stop selling it until the issue is corrected. . In my opinion. .

41 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/11/2023

What component or system failed or malfunction and is it available for inspection upon request. The cvt failsafe high fluid temperature protection mode enacted while I was driving on the highway at speeds of 65 to 70 mph going with the flow of traffic it is not available for inspection upon request because this issue only occurs while you're driving down the highway. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? my safety and the safety of my passengers and the safety of my fellow commuters was put in jeopardy due to negligence of the manufacturer of the 2012 Nissan Altima when this occurs all acceleration ceases your foot can be all the way to the floor on the gas pedal and your car will not accelerate and in the fast lane on the highway when this happened I became a sitting duck in the flow of traffic cars are flying by me and my passengers and I can't get enough speed to change lanes and get out of danger due to a failsafe that Nissan put in these cars on purpose they were fully aware of these issues this is a direct quote from the 2012 Nissan Altima owners manual page 5-17 warning when the high fluid temperature protection mode or fail safe operation occurs vehicle speed may be gradually reduced the reduced speed may be lower than traffic which could increase the chance of a collision be especially careful when driving if necessary pull to the side of the road to a safe place and allow the transmission to return to normal operation or have it reparative necessary. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Unknown. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer police insurance representatives or others. Unknown. Where there any warning lamps messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure and when did they first appear. Zero warning lamps no messages just all of the sudden no acceleration and I am in a very dangerous situation which could have cost many people their lives.

42 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/11/2023

Hi I’m having trouble with my transmission in my car due to a safety feature that Nissan has installed on there cvt transmissions. After driving for 1 1/2 to 2 hour trips my car does not accelerate or will have a slow time gaining speed. Nissan has a high fluid temperature protection mode that basically when the transmission temp gets too high the computer cuts you off completely and intentionally stops you from going any faster. This is a serious issues if your in traffic or driving somewhere on the highway and not able to move to the side of the roadway or to a median. If my car was to completely stop in the middle of the road due to this safety feature, it could cause collisions and life threatening injuries.

43 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2010 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

When parked letting the car warm up constant shaking kinda a rough ideal at times. From park to reverse it shifts hard the to drive its ok I guess then on the go it's like driving a boat on land loud knocking sounds seems like the tires are flat or about to explode off the car really nerve-wracking.

44 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/07/2022

Car was stopped at a stop sign. When it was clear I attempted to proceed and turn left. The car began to roll then wouldn't accelerate causing me to block both lanes with oncoming vehicles. The rpms revved and the car wouldn’t move. Finally, the car started to go forward and without me pressing the gas it accelerated. I reported the situation to the Nissan dealer and the Nissan consumer repair. The mechanic at Nissan said the code is the transmission "death code. " the simply said the car has over 84,000 miles so they would not be responsible for the repair. When I told them the situation, they did not discuss safety issues. I asked the man at Nissan consumer affairs if the life expectancy of a 2016 Nissan transmission was 108,000 miles. He said Nissan was not responsible for vehicle safety after 84,000 miles. He gave me a case number and and hung up. I then received an email with the case number and a note that said to give the number to my attorney. I do not have an attorney.

45 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/11/2022

I only had my vehicle(2016nissanaltima) for less than 2 weeks before the vehicles major problems started. The engine consistently stalls, surges and shudders. As well as the shifter locking itself to where it wont shift out of park. There are no and have never been any warning lights to alert me. The cvt and the computer are very faulty. To the point the vehicle is now a death trap. When driving the car the rpm will randomly accelerate and I have no way to control the vehicle and then vehicle will go into "limp mode" consistently and won't go any faster or slower than the speed the car chooses to do. I don't trust anything of what it says on the dashboard as far as gas amount, odometer, milwarnings, speed or otherwise. If there are no warnings from the car to alert me with, then that is a major issue with the car and is not mechanically sound and very dangerous for me and other drivers on the road. I have had to make the car sit the majority of the short time I have had it. Because I simply won't drive very far because of the dangers it puts me in everytime I have drove it. I have had to spend my money on transportation to and from work instead of making my first car payment. At this point I want to just opt-out with the vehicle entirely and give it back to the dealership. This car is just unsafe and should not have been sold in the condition it is in. I only got to drive the vehicle 10 days or so before major issues started with the vehicle. I have not a clue what the details of what is wrong with the car. The only warning signal I do see now, is the mil and that is not even mentioned in the option menu of the car settings etc. This car needs to be re-manufactured so that it can become a safe running vehicle. I don't have the money that it will take to fix the car. It's far too expensive for me or any hard working citizen to ever afford. I don't advise anyone to own a vehicle of this kind.

46 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/10/2022

I believe the failure that I'm experiencing is with the vehicle's transmission. The car stalls or refuses to shift gears, has trouble accelerating, and when the car is trying to accelerating the car makes an unfamiliar noise which is quiet loud and noticeable and sometimes shake or full on just pushes forward randomly. I believe the safety for mine and others can be at risk at times because they would be times where the car will not accelerate, even when your foot is pushed all the way on the pedal and as a result the car begins to slow down. This is can be risk depending on where you're driving for an example if you're on the highway or a congested area going at a specified speed. From my understanding after doing research I have found out that several others have been experiencing this same problem, so to my understanding this is a common issue and I'm not sure why it was never addressed. I have taken the car to a mechanic where they said the problem is the cvt transmission. The check engine light is on. This vehicle has not been in an accident.

47 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/23/2022

When the cruise control is on and I push on the brake to merge lanes or because a vehicle in front of me stops, the car continues to accelerate and gets stuck in acceleration the rpms go up wildly.

48 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/19/2022

Car engine cuts off. After that I have no power steering, no acceleration, brakes need to be pumped. The first years of me owning the car I had the sensors replaced by auto shop and dealership under extended car warranty. Pretty much been replacing the sensors ever since for the past 8 years. I believe I replaced over 10 sensors of the time I owned my Nissan. I can be on the hallway, streets anywhere with out any warnings my car engine will stop. It has to do with turning back on the car while it's warm. That's when I seen the problem the most.

49 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/12/2022

Delays in acceleration. When operating the vehicle. At a complete stop. When I depress the gas pedal there is a few seconds delay before the vehicle starts to accelerate. No warnings appear on dashboard. No check engine light, no visible indication of problem.

51 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/03/2022

The car hesitates accelerating. After coming to a complete stop, when the gas pedal is pressed, the car will not go. This happens after in town driving for about 20 min or so when it stops and goes, stops and goes. The gas pedal will be pressed and the rpms will be going up but the car just sits there until all of a sudden taking off. No warnings appear. I explained issues to service techs at Nissan and they were able to replicate it and attempted to repair but it is doing it again less than a month later. It has been very dangerous especially when trying to merge into oncoming traffic.

52 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/03/2022

The front radar distance sensor becomes blocked and unavailable while driving. This happens every time I drive the car. Several times the warning message came on and the car tried to briefly brake. I took my car into the Nissan dealership and they confirmed the sensor has failed and recommends replacement. This is a known issue with several models of Nissan cars per NHTSA ntb19-033a. This has been happening in my car for about two weeks. I took it in to the dealership as soon as I could after noticing the problem. I believe my car was built at the end of 2018 and has this faulty sensor reference in NHTSA ntb19-033a or clearly they have not rectified the problem fully. I think 2019 vehicles should be added to the recall.

53 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, the vehicle independently accelerated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. There was no cause for the failure found. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 40,000.

54 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/28/2022

Diagnosed cvt failure; Nissan refuses to replace the transmission at their cost. Took the vehicle to multiple mechanics before the issue was officially diagnosed, as the issue is difficult to diagnose. When operating the vehicle, at times the vehicle will stop accelerating; driver is pressing on the accelerator and the rpms will increase but the vehicle will not be propelled forward and the power steering is disengaged. The issue is intermittent so the driver does not when this will occur, other drivers on the road also do not know our car is stalled, and this creates a huge safety risk. Also, when stopped at a stop sign or stoplight and attempting to turn onto another street, driver will attempt to accelerate and turn and the vehicle will not move or will barely move and the power steering is disengaged. If the cross-street has traffic, my vehicle is immovable in oncoming traffic -- a huge safety issue.

55 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/15/2022

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving on the highway, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated and then independently decelerated. The contact stated that he was able to drive the vehicle back to the residence. The contact then stated that after he turned off and restarted the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the gear shifter failed to engage. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. A case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.

59 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/17/2022

For the last few days my car has been hesitant to accelerate. At low speed acceleration it jerks a few times then the rpms go way high and is slow to shift & accelerate. It is automatic. This problem has been gradually increasing over past 2 years. I did take it to a dealership when the hood latch was replaced due to recall this year and they just suggested I drain/replace the transmission fluid in hopes that it fixes the acceleration issues. They already knew when I went into the dealership that it wasn't in warranty anymore and because I couldn't afford to fully fix the problem they just brushed me off. This isn't a safe car anymore to drive. I have 2 children and this is our primary vehicle. I just know whatever this issue with the transmission and power train stuff is not safe and it's only a matter of time until something major brakes down, I just hope it does not clunk out on us to where we wreck. These power train/transmission issues have started affecting the cruise control, air flow of the car, and possibly affecting the sensors which then could be another ordeal with electrical issues. Nissan what is wrong with the tranny/power train > extend the warranty or find and fix this issue I bought the car in 2018 with less than 20,000 miles and have done regular maintenance, new tires every year, oils changes, replacing air filters and wipers, replacing brake pads, ive had to replace the brake booster already and flushed the whole brake system because of this acceleration issue I figured the brakes causing the lag but this car is just falling apart these past 2 years, rust on the trunk near the silver trim has caused the trunk to open on its own and the back-up camera feels like its slowly going out, the headlights are too dim to drive at night(even the brights now are dim), the rear passenger window just dropped down one day off the roller and I can't get the window back up and stay on the roller. Problem after problem. Safety concern after safety concern.

60 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/15/2022

The problem with the c17f1 cvt judder when pressing the gas the car would not go. So you turn car off. Then restart car pressing gas all the way down, and the car jumps forward and luckily doesn’t hit car in front of you. Nissan is well aware of cvt transmission problems on 2011 and 2015 Altima’s in which now it costs me $5400. 00 to replace this transmission. Nissan should of advertised this car as lemon transmission car because you are almost guaranteed to have the transmission replaced. My car has 102 thousand miles and I’m forced to pay $5400. 00 for this defected transmission that Nissan was well aware of. I hate this car that I have paid so much money for. On top of list price plus this repair that I will never get my money back costs over 27000 dollars. I’m retired and Nissan sold me a ?? lemon.

61 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/15/2022

I pulled into regions bank parking lot to use atm machine and before I could even park my car accelerated for no reason. I had my foot on the brake but it just made it go faster. I crashed into the building and airbag deployed. This was the scariest driving experience I’ve ever had. The car is totaled and caused serious damage to bank. I escaped by the grace of god with sprained wrist and elbow and knee abrasions.

62 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/11/2022

The cars battery and brake lights came on while driving and then after about 10 mins my gas pedal stopped working and I almost got in a really bad car accident. If I rev the car over 3000 rpms the lights go out. So while I was cruising I had to shift to natural and rev the car and shift back to drive when I needed to go faster. I brought the car to the mechanic got a new alternator and battery. When driving it home after picking it up the same thing happened after about ten mins. When the mechanic got it back he said the alternator was dead it was only putting out 3. 5 volts. He figured maybe he got a defective alternator so he replaced it again with another battery. Same thing happened for the 3rd time. He said he couldn't figure it out and recommend me to bring it to the dealership. So I did and just for them to look at your car is 150 walking in the door. I explained everything to them and told them don't tell me it's my alternator and charge me 150 for information I already know. The guy said he wouldn't and a few days later calls me and tells me it's the alternator and it would cost 1000 $ to replace it. I told him again I already changed it out 3 different times with a new battery. He told me in order for them to find the issue they would have to do the alternator first and then move on from there. So I asked him ok what's gonna be the next step after I pay a 1000s dollars for something that's not going to fix the issue. He said he couldn't tell me till they did the first step. So pretty much what I got out of it was they just want to run my pockets and get as much money as the possibly could. I asked him if he could just do what ever you would do after changing the alternator and he told me nope. Also I believe this should be a recall because when I look up forms online a ton of people have this same issue and can't get answers to fix it.

63 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/09/2022

My 2015 Nissan Altima sv begin losing power and revving up and rpms but would not move. When I exited the interstate to see what was going on because at that time the check engine light had also come on I came to the stop sign and when I proceeded to move forward to find somewhere safe to park the vehicle would not go but the accelerator but the rpms went up. Putting my wife's life and myself in danger of uncommon traffic because vehicle barely wanted to move I had the vehicle towed to Nissan dealership in the following morning the service manager called me and let me know that they checked out the vehicle and that it was a transmission and also the speed control sensor he said there was no recalls on it but did have three six and 12 month financing so that they can continue to do the repairs. I am currently just paid the vehicle off two weeks ago and I'm frustrated that this has happened. This was the third time this has happened to this vehicle the first two times my wife had to pull over waited close to an hour as vehicle cool down and then proceeded to continue home which was fine but these are happening every two to three months now.

68 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/21/2022

I own a Nissan Altima 2014 sv 4 cylinder. While driving the car stops moving and it just relies on momentum, the gas pedal stops functioning. This has happened to me multiple times I then have to turn off the car and turn it back on so it can work and it does the same thing again. I stepped on the gas pedal all the way to the floor and it doesn't respond. I started doing research and I ran into this website where people are suffering from the same problem and it has put my life and multiple people's lives in danger. These cars all range in year but the make and model is the same, Nissan Altima. I saw some posts that stated that they had the same problem with very low mileage on their vehicles. I took it to the dealership they weren't able to fix it and they gave it to me back malfunctioning and with the same safety issue and the check engine light on. I would kindly ask that this department gets involved immediately. The dealership wanted me to pay a diagnostic and refused to check the car unless I purchased new battery car terminals. I ended paying for a service I didn't need to get a car that was still malfunctioning. I refused to pay for the diagnostic after a 20 minute discussion they decided not to charge me but I had to fight for the fee to be waived. The problem is the car is still undrive-able. Here are other stories from other people with the same exact issue. . Read more...
