2 Other Fuel System problem of the 2021 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 12/17/2025

My family and I traveled to ohio to visit family. After stopping for fuel, 6hrs into our drive, our 2021 Nissan Armada started bucking, skipping, and eventually stalled 50 yards from the fuel station. Several attempts at restarting the vehicle resulted in a sputtering idle and stall. This put my family is grave danger as we were beginning our acceleration onto the interstate at 11pm eastern standard time. After some research, our vehicle doesnt fall under the recall for faulty pump. The pump assembly is $900 as well as a $700 tow bill. This is very dangerous and its evident their's more Armadas with the faulty pump than Nissan originally recalled. My wife and I are extremely disappointed and frightened to drive this SUV 10 hours back home once its fixed. Please review and consider our vehicle for reimbursement for the near miss situation. Best regards.

3 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 11/30/2025

My son & I took the car out two days after I bought it. Wanted to see how things looked at night. I took an unfamiliar rd ,( why,I dont know) enjoying the ride and all the dash lights and bright headlights. Coming up to what appeared to be a slight downhill, curved rd, the car suddenly would not let me steer or brake or, what the heck! I thought its broken and we are going to crash in the trees! realizing the car shut itself off,im asking, ok yelling at my son, what do I do??? it took all I had to try & stay calm, and drive like , back when. (no power steering,)but not sure what to do about brakes. Thank god, I had made that corner ok and as rd leveled, I was slowing enough to pull out of the way of the guy behind me in such a hurry. Pulling to the curb, slowly using ebrake, I stopped finally. Took me a good half hour to stop shaking to get out & let my son have a look. Gas tank still full, as it was a few weeks earlier when we test drove. He tried to start , the engine tried to start but just wouldn't cooperate. Didn't know what to look for under hood. So called a friend who thank goodness found us, bringing a battery, tow hook & gas. Hooked up battery charger, poured a little gas, stood out there freezing till they went to try & start & his magic worked. Started up and was on our way. No problem the rest of the night. Texted the people the next day asking about that & she said they never had any such problem. We tested the battery which was fine & still lots of gas. It happened again a couple weeks later. I inquired again about that problem & a couple other things. But, no the cars been great with only brakes replaced the time they had the vehicle. Ok, well this happen again, so I looked into it only to find there has been a recall on something to do with gastank & floater or such. We noticed if we keep a full tank of gas, it doesn't seem to happen. What I read was a recall which they said had never been a problem & never recieved. Well. . . . ??we wonder.

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 10/02/2025

Well wife was driving car on her way to work and it shut off in the middle of traffic. Was no sure what was wrong until I brought it home and started reading the codes. It gave me p0087 p0090 low fuel pressure regulater circuit open and p119c. So I changed out the sensor the in tank fuel pump, high pressure fuel pump and sensor on the evap can. Car still will not start. So I bought a wiring diagram to see were everything was routed and found out the have a built in fuel relay so I bought a new pcm that didn't work so then I found out it there was a fuel pump controller module so change that and still not cranking. Fuel pump flows fuel for a second then shuts off. Now I am not sure what to do now. Truck has been down for 3 weeks now. And been have to renting a car since then.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 2023 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 07/30/2025

Bought vehicle used from dealer so it must have been damaged by previous owner. In less than 1 hour driving in freeway over 60mph in extreme outside heat of 107f, the transmission went out. It was returned to the dealer and dealer is fixing the problems.

Vehicle battery is being drained. The vehicle won’t start. Purchase a new battery on March 2025. Vehicle car fax states a new battery was installed in vehicle in may 2024. I purchased the vehicle on September 4, 2024.

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2021 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 04/07/2025

Car started sputtering and code said misfire dealership said it was the mass air sensor said they fixed it but symptoms continued when I picked up my vehicle issue sounds like the recall reason of the fuel pump.

8 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 01/23/2025

Absolutely. Here is the revised, anonymous version of your NHTSA complaint about the acceleration and incline issue—with all identifying info removed: ? component/system: engine performance and drivetrain. My 2020 Nissan Armada experiences repeated loss of power when accelerating, especially on inclines or under load. The rpms spike erratically, but the vehicle does not gain speed and often slows down unexpectedly. This condition has persisted despite a prior repair and continues to occur. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. ? safety risk: this issue places me and my children at serious risk while driving. The vehicle slows down when acceleration is needed most—such as when merging onto highways or climbing hills—creating a real danger of rear-end collisions or failed merges. The erratic rpm surges add instability and make it unsafe to rely on the vehicle in critical traffic situations like passing or freeway driving. ? confirmed by dealer or service center: yes. I brought the vehicle in for service in early 2025 after experiencing this issue. It was diagnosed with code p0025 and the exhaust valve timing control solenoid was replaced at a cost of over $1,000. However, the issue was not resolved and continues exactly as before. I returned for follow-up and was told an engine replacement might be needed, without receiving documentation or a clear explanation. ? inspected by manufacturer, police, or insurance: no. The vehicle has not been inspected by Nissan corporate, police, or insurance. It has not resulted in a crash, but it remains an ongoing safety concern. ? warning lamps or symptoms: there were no consistent dashboard warnings. The issue began in early 2025 and occurs frequently—particularly during acceleration on hills or when the vehicle is under load. The rpms surge, but the vehicle slows or struggles to maintain speed.

9 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 11/10/2024

The instrument cluster starts giving wrong signals which causes the car to either shutdown or not start randomly. For now a tap on the dashboard would help it start sometimes. It is a great safety hazard as if it shuts down on a dangerous road or if it wont start in dangerous areas, which happened with me multiple times while my kids were on the car, it could cause disasters. My car stayed at the dealer for 3 weeks, they were able to reproduce the problem, but they could not resolve the issue. They contacted the engineers in Nissan and no luck. The best they were able to do was guess it was the ecm. That is after they claimed it was the fuel pump and talked me into changing it, although I had a new aftermarket pump installed a month prior, and charged me over $1200 but after a search online I came across a video of an identical issue with a person who posted a video a year ago. In his case, the engineers suggested changing the instrument cluster. The care worked since then. At the time I was watching the video I was setting in my car that wont start. I tapped on the dashboard. It worked! there will be no warning signs for the issue. No pattern either. It happens randomly. It does not shut the car down as often. But the almost daily one is not letting the car start.

11 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 06/21/2024

We just keep having endless safety issues. We would be on freeway and all of a sudden it would stop while driving on freeway!and car going really fast, and almost hitting us my whole family terrified. . 12 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 03/02/2024

The rear crossmember subframe on my vehicle is completely rusted out which caused serious suspension issue and cause the control arm to be in contact with the fuel tank. It didnt go through the tank because I found the issue on time and stopped driving the vehicle but it caused damage to the tank. If I didnt stop driving the car it was just a matter of time before the control arm perforated the tank, which could have been a lot worse with a risk of fire. This looks to be a common issue with Nissan cars so I’m not sure how there is no recall for it. I keep the vehicle maintained properly and bring it to the dealer for repairs. The dealer also performed a lot of work on the rear suspension of my car a couple of years ago but never mentioned anything to me about this major rust on the crossmember subframe.

13 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 09/16/2022

The fuel system failed while I was driving in traffic. The vehicle shutoff and would not restart. Safety is was in flowing traffic my vehicle all of sudden stopped forward motion. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone. The check engine and battery light came on. I do not recall the other indicators. My fuel gauge was showing a needles width of 1/4 tank when this happened. I bought a gas can and went to the closest gas station for fuel. I put two gallons in and the vehicle started up.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 08/11/2022

I had a sudden power lose with no warning while traveling down interstate at 70mph in "fast lane". I had no power and steering the vehicle to safety was a serious challenge. We were almost hit several time as I negotiated my way to the shoulder of the interstate. I was scary and after almost being struck by passing vehicles, my wife actually got sick to her stomach. After avoiding accident's to pull off shoulder of the road I was not able to get the vehicle started. Upon being towed home I discovered the vehicle ran out of gas, although the gas gauge was showing 1/4 of tank. I went online and found there was a recall for Nissan Armada, 2005-2009 dated 3/18/2010 for the same exact issue (see NHTSA # 10v-074). Nissan did not correct the defect and there are numerous complaints of this dangerous issue with following year models. This issue is seriously dangerous and can lead to serious injury or death and a recall should be mandatory. I called Nissan but they refused to assist with repairs or recall. I had the fuel pump sending unit replaced at my expense and request Nissan reimburse me. This is not an issue due to age or mileage. This is a design flaw that is wide spread and Nissan has failed to accept responsibility or notify owners of potential problem. Requesting NHTSA assistance and action to prevent injury or death to other Nissan owners. I also plan to speak with an attorney regarding possibility of a class action suit.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 08/08/2022

For the past couple of years my 2008 Nissan Armada has been giving me issues with the gas gauge not reading accurately, it has progressed over time. It started out happening around a quarter of a tank with anywhere from 25 to 60 miles to empty according to the reading on the screen display. There has been no warning of running out of gas, it just happens while driving, the vehicle starts to shut down & the steering wheel eventually locks up, I do not have very long to find a driveway or parking lot to coast into before the vehicle completely shuts down. Over time it has happened at different intervals indicating I still have gas according to the gauge & the screen display, one time it showed as much as 147 miles to empty. My husband & I researched what may need to be checked or replaced to remedy the issue, everything led to changing the fuel pump which we did in August 2022. Within a few days it started happening again, at that time we had a mechanic look at my vehicle, they figured out that the fuel pump was missing a cap on the end of it, they replaced it. After about 4-6 months or so it started happening again, at that time we brought it back to the same mechanic to assess. After keeping it for 4 days, they decided that "the fuel pump must be bad & needs to be changed, sometimes fuel pumps just go bad". After paying over $700. 00 to replace the fuel pump again (March 2023), it lasted about 2 weeks & happened again! there was a recall back in 2010 I believe for the fuel sending unit on my vehicle, Nissan replaced it at no charge, however, I was not having any issues at that time, when I called Nissan a year or so ago, they told me that a recall can only be done once where they fix the issue at no charge.

16 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 09/08/2021

While driving, the unit that houses the tv and stereo and air vents (center console on roof) decided to break and fall on my child who was in her car seat, almost resulting in me crashing my vehicle. This is a hazard alone. Due to the poor design of this center console, there is no way to repair this piece. It has to be replaced with the same faulty piece, which will eventually break again due to it not being able to sustain the weight. This happened to me at about 78,000 miles. I had to remove the center console.

17 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 08/24/2021

The gauge can indicate that the vehicle has 1/2 tank of gas 153miles remaining until empty when in fact the tank is nearly empty. While driving on highway my 2 children, my daughter friend and myself the vehicle began to drag, I was like OH my god it feels like it's going to cut off. I immediately had a anxiety attack trying to figure out what was happening because no warning lights came on in which had me panic even more. I tried to calm down and get off to side of roadway at least before it did shut off. As soon as I started to drive off to side it shut off I tried to give it gas nothing and the steering wheel had tighten up(no power)so now we was rolling and I'm trying my hardest to steer so we wouldn't hit anything. It was the most scariest moment of my life and my life flashed in front of me and praying no trucks came flying. I proceeded to call aaa they asked my location and if we was in a safe area, did it run out of gas, etc. . . . They said they will dispatch a tow truck and also tell them to being gas just in case. I said it's by 1/2 tank and say it's 153 miles til empty, they said sometimes those gauge don't work, I said the digital fuel as well would be off. Well the tow truck came check fluids, batteries and nothing was wrong he putthe gas and it started. This is very dangerous for this gauge to be broken and not operating correctly because it just shut off and had me and my children and friend was in a deadly accident due to a damn malfunction from a defaulted gas reader. What would you people tell our families OH we sorry. This is a serious serious deadly problem that needs to be addressed immediately.   another problem is the suspension and tires. I had everything checked and thought I needed a wheel alignment and I still notice when I hit a bump I'm the road the entire truck swerve. The digital tire air pressure gauge inside car on screen is off and not reading either. The either electrical system is off if you ask me. I hope that someone contact me.

24 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 07/23/2018

My Nissan Armada only has 67k miles on it like brand new it all of a sudden just lost all power I drove it the night before no issues then the next morning there were 3 lights on which were the vdc, slip, and the check engine light. Also, the trunk on the vehicle doesnt unlock when you hit the button neither does the glass lift door I have to climb in thru the vehicle get inside the trunk and take cover off of the emergency release and hold down lever while someone from the outside opens the door for me while im inside holding the lever down. The loss of power is the main issue here what if I was on the interstate or something and that happened.

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

Takata recall brakes not working while driving and pulses and fuel gage not working while driving and parked.

26 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 01/02/2017

Nissan Armada air filter housing recall. . . Over the pass couple of years, I've notice that our truck would shut off while driving. We'd start it back up, and continue driving and it would shut off again. After checking the air filter under the hood, I discovered that it was dirty. So, I replaced the filter and it would be good. However, after several weeks of driving it will repeat the same thing of just shutting off while driving. Recently, it has been shutting down more often. So, after some looking underneath the hood, I went back to the air filter housing box and discovered that the air filter housing box does not seal properly. As a result of the air filter housing not sealing properly, air seeps in throwing off the air to gas ratio mixture and it shuts down the engine, turning off the car in the midst of driving. I reported this too a Nissan dealership and they supposedly cleaned the air filter box and said that should fix it. However, after leaving the dealership, my truck literally shut off on me while driving five (5) times. I then went back under the hood of the truck, readjusted the air filter housing in an attempt to seal it to the best of my ability and my truck did not shut down at all. This is definitely an issue that I believe needs to be looked at. I've talked to other Nissan owners they have reported the same thing. I sincerely hope that something can be done about this real soon in the picture that I have attached to this file, you can see the orange piece from the filter that is sticking out from the housing. Again, through driving and hitting bumps in the road, the housing separates and allow more air to seep into housing and the truck shuts off. Again, once the housing is fixed in place again, the truck is drivable until the housing separates again.

27 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 08/10/2016

Brakes, at about 65mph car shakes violently, tv in the middle sounds like its falling out, engine turning over but not starting.

Bought a 2004 Nissan Armada 08/08/2016 the second day I had to go to the dealers and pay close to 4xx to have a computer hooked up to it because my brake light came on and didnt have any brakes, it then happened the second week of owning the vehicle, called Nissan north America at first I was told I would be reimbursed and my problem fixed then was told its out of warranty. Regardless it was not my fault Nissan does not no how to make vehicle or fix there fauly problems. 33 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 05/22/2015

At approximately 45-50 the car began to shudder on a state highway and stalled making it impossible to steer with normal effort . It would not start and was towed. Of note this is my 2nd Armada my 2004 had the same problem. I can't imagine Nissan does not know and has done nothing to fix it. Any thoughts ?.

34 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 05/10/2015

Traveling up a slight hill at about 20 mph the vehicle started losing power. The engine died resulting in a loss of power steering. I put the vehicle in park and shut off the ignition. I had no power and no power steering. After about a minute I tried and successfully started the vehicle. It attempted to die again, but I revved the engine and kept it running. It was frightening to think what would have happened if we were on a highway at 70 mph and lost power. In my opinion this is a dangerous situation. Thankfully the incident was on a county road with no traffic as we had two of our grandchildren in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

35 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 03/13/2014

This is a concern. As a senior maintenance manger for the us army, recently retired, and a vast knowledge of mechanical, and safety training, I came across an issue that could be potentially fatal. The valve or rocker covers on the Armada slant down, away and back from the engine. The bottom back corner of the valve cover sits perfectly over the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter (drivers side). If the seal is broken and the oil seeps out it will drain to the lowest point and drip down onto the top of the heat shield for the catalytic converter and pool under the converter. When the vehicle is driven that oil gets hot and burns and can possibly catch fire. Depending on how much oil has dripped onto the heat shield and how long the vehicle is driven would determine the heat needed to generate a fire. Depending on the size of the fire it is possible it could burn the fuel lines that run in the same area.
