37 Suspension problem of the 2008 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 08/18/2012

Vehicle was being driven out of garage at low speed. Suddenly, there was a clunk and loss of control of the front passenger wheel. There were no prior warning signs or symptoms. Upon inspection, the front passenger tie rod had dis-attached itself from the wheel, resulting in no steering control of the front passenger wheel. Had this happened at a speed greater than 25 mph, serious/fatal accident and injury would have been likely. This is a serious malfunction of the system with no prior warning signs. Nissan dealer has confirmed this is a serious issue that is not the result of any owner fault.

38 Suspension problem of the 2005 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 08/03/2012

On the listed date above our family was on en route to our vacation destination, traveling in our Armada with camper in tow. While going thru the mountains in virginia we had lost all power to our transmission causing us to pull over onto the shoulder of the expressway. After some time we where finally able to get towed to a dealership in covington. As soon as the service manager looked at the vehicle he new exactly what had happened. He explained that the tail pipe had disconnected from the muffler and that the hot exhaust burned up the wire harness that controlled all the power to the transmission. This they had seen and fixed 4 to 5 times at this dealership. My complaint is that the piping from the muffler some how eroded away and disconnected allowing the exhaust to burn up the wire harness, as well as the hose that supplies the compressed air to the air shocks. This to me is a very serious safety issue. Fortunately we were in the right hand lane and no other vehicles were near to cause a potential accident. We were able to get over safely although we had lost all transmission power going up this mountain. Not sure if anybody else has reported this safety issue. But Nissan must know about it based on the service manager seeing this that many times. Why would one have your electric wiring running so close to a potential hot source that could disable your vehicle while driving? I recently was talking to a coworker who has a 2004 Armada and told him about what happened to us. He had said that he just had his tail pipe welded back on but had it done at a muffler shop so this was not documented at a dealership. He had said that he could smell something burning but he had no other issues. He was lucky and he may want to check it out because of the experience that I had. Please look into this because I feel it is a serious safety issue.

40 Suspension problem of the 2011 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 03/08/2011

While driving at 50mph or higher, normal highway speed, it feels the car is kindly floating on the road and does not has a firm contact with the surface, on a perfectly sunny dry day. The feeling is like having tail spin a little. I've been having this experience ever since it was new, and in addition, the alignment is off from new, 1000-2000 mile new, and I always have to pull to the left to compensate. I went to dealer and reported this around 10k/15k miles, and they recommended alignment, and we did. However, problem persist. Just yesterday, the rear axle just gave up and broke. I took it to the dealer for warranty service, but they refused and accused that the car's been in collision. No, no accident/collision whatsoever! and no there's not any physical damage to the tire and rim. Rather, I believe this is a defect from the manufacturer.

42 Suspension problem of the 2008 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

Nissan Armada vehicles with a factory tow package include self-leveling rear suspension. The system is comprised of air-leveled shocks and an air compressor. The system leaks, causing the air pressure to drop at speed, with or without loads, and when parked and turned off. It causes the rear end to be soft and handle poorly, which, when towing, is clearly a safety hazard.

43 Suspension problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 10/09/2007

2004 Armada difficult to control over bumps. Right rear tire continuously bounces causing vehicle to wander when going over bumps. Steering wheel continuously vibrates especially on the highway. For the past few years vehicle has been inspected and test driven by many mechanics including Nissan dealerships to no avail can they locate the problem. All 4 tires have been replaced twice. Air bags performed active tests to rear air shocks and were working fine. Bags were checked for leaks and none were found. Alignment is fine. Also, vehicle has excessive rust underneath (we have never towed any boats or anything remotely close to the weight limit of the vehicle. ).

45 Suspension problem of the 2005 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 12/19/2005

Bought this 2005 Nissan Armada new in 2005. Since the day I bought it the drivers door has been very noisy and opens slightly when at highway speeds and hit a bump. Dealer says they cannot duplicate he issue and it is normal. Also have had the truck in 5 or more times because front end shimmy makes steering wheel shake at highway speeds. They have balanced the truck everytime and still has not helped. Only 25,000 mile on the truck and all these problems. They need to replace the drivers door and find the issue in the front end making the steering wheel shake. Not happy!.
