The contact owns a 2006 nisan Frontier. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed to accurately display the amount of fuel in the fuel tank. The contact stated that the failure was more evident once the fuel tank was at the quarter mark. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer confirmed that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
2006 Nissan Frontier. Consumer writes seeking reimbursement for vehicles repairs.
About 1 yr ago fuel gauge stopped registering-was unaware of issues, never received notice of issues and past mileage for warranty. I have not been able to afford to fix it,so we are constantly worried about running out of gas. In August of this year, truck running rough, hesitating in low gear. Had our mechanic flush transmission, but started again and got intensely worse the past 2 months. Unable to afford to fix,we had to wait, but finally no choice but to take it in. Radiator leaking into transmission, seals cracked, etc. Going to cost 3100 to fix. Called Nissan, but they basically told me I was out of luck as truck past mileage for standard and extended warranties (that they charge you for, knowing there is faulty transmission).
The "service engine soon" light came on and the fuel gauge was slow to rise after filling up. This time when I filled up the gauge was at 1/4 and would not move. After sitting in traffic for a little bit the gauge indicated that a was low on fuel and the low fuel light came on.
My truck began to shake and tremble when I was trying to back into my drive way. The truck had been making noises and I had taken the truck in to be checked by 3 different mechanics. I was told that they could not find anything and one stated he heard the noise but did not know what it was. The truck continue to make the noise of a grinding and shuttering sound. Did not drive but to work and home due to the problems. The noise would stop when the overdrive was turned off. Lately the truck sounds like the transmission is going. The fuel gauge does not work. It was in a recall but Nissan would not repair even though I was mailed the recall after my mileage was too high for the repair which makes no sense to me because if they sent the notice out late, what does my mileage have to do with their negligence to repair their faulty vehicles? could not repair, the cost was over $600. Had to replace a wheel bearing, over $400. Tire gauge light on. I have had nothing but trouble with this truck. I will never purchase another Nissan product. When dealing with the Nissan recall people I felt as though they could care less. Working on a fixed budget and unable to pay for high cost of repair. What can you do when the big companies refuse to repair their trucks and cars? I was informed there was no one to help me. Have run out of gas several times due to the gas gauge. I have read other's complaints on Nissans and I am surprise that no one forces them to repair their vehicles. This is my only form of transportation and without the repairs, I will be riding the bus. Tired in virginia. Thanks for listening.
Service engine light comes on with error code 0463. Nissan TSB #ntb07-069d corrects this but not out of warranty! with all the complaints this should be a recall situation!.
I purchased the vehicle in 2007 with 40,000 miles on it. It has been shimmying on the highway since I hit 60,000 miles and in spite of having my tires re-aligned and balanced, it still continues to rock back and forth at speeds over 50 miles an hour. I just hit my 100,000 mile mark on the first of October. On October 18th, I was at my son's daycare and the truck started idling strangely. The truck was puttering and exhausting black smoke. It died in the parking lot and I tried numerous times to get it started. It took about 20 minutes of trying but I got it running again, only to have it die on me in traffic. Once again, I got it started and managed to get it home where it completely died. When I was able to get it to the dealership (after a local mechanic looked at it and couldn't get it started) the dealership told me I had an engine idle air control sensor that was recalled by Nissan. I never received the recall notice but was relieved that my bill was covered. Less than a week after the sensor had been replaced, the check engine light came on. I brought it back to the dealership and they told me my catalytic converters had burned out. From what I have been able to research online, the failure of my catalytic converters is directly related to an out of tune engine (too much air or fuel) which was caused by the sensor being defective. Nissan doesn't see it that way and now I'm stuck with a $3500 repair bill on a truck I still owe money on and have owned for less than four years.
Fill with gas and guage reads empty. Don't know how much gas I have. Also , engine light is on.
Fuel gauge inop. Service engine soon light on.
Fuel gauge not accurate/not working properly.
Air bag front sensor failure at 38000 miles, failure of fuel system evaporation valve at 38500 miles. Failure of rear differential seal at 42,000 miles, failure of rear axle bearing seals, gear oil to leaking on parking brake shoes causing slippage at 48,500. Truck has 49,000 as of 3/24/2012.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed and would not display an accurate reading of fuel levels. The dealer was contacted and advised that there were no recalls for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who advised that they were unable to assist because the vehicle was outside of warranty. The failure mileage was 109,000.
Nissan 2006 Frontier gas gauge sticks at 1/4 full, and results in a sudden slowing when vehicle unexpectedly runs out of fuel. Nissan says only some 2006 Nissan Frontiers are covered under the current recall (10v-075) and that the recall does not apply to this vehicle. Nissan refuses to fix safety defect. This recall should be expanded to include this vehicle.
Fuel level sensor failure showing code p0463. This is very similar in nature to campaign 10v075000. Vehicle is 2006 Nissan Frontier se crew cab. Happens frequently. (2 times in the last 700 miles for me). Check engine light comes on and fuel level drops to empty. Periodically comes up part way but totally unreliable. Requires estimating fuel level by odometer reading. Could cause vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of crash with loss of power steering and brakes when engine stalls.
Fuel gauge failure on 2006 Nissan Frontier 4door pickup truck. I called several Nissan dealerships and all of them told me it was the fuel sending unit without ever seeing the truck! after doing some online research it seems this is a common problem on this vehicle, I feel this is a safety hazard as someone could run out of fuel on a busy road and be hit from behind and or wreck trying to maneuver the vehicle from the roadway. (as almost happened to me).
Fuel gauge began reading inaccurately causing me to run out of gas in the middle of a busy road. There is already a recall for my model and year vehicle for this problem. However, the manufacturer says my VIN number is not included.
Run out of fuel two times, reason the fuel level sending unit isn't working.
The fuel gauge is erratic, reading empty when it's full and the check engine light came on. Nissan has a technical service bulletin # 07069 for a faulty fuel level sending unit.
2006 Nissan Frontier fuel sending unit quits working after approx 4 years causing incorrect fuel gauge reading and service engine light to illuminate. Dangerous as incorrect gauge reading could cause vehicle to run out of fuel.
My Nissan Frontier fuel gauge has stopped working- I called about the recall and I was supposedly not covered but they can check it for 100 bucks up front to make sure.
I filled up my truck and the fuel gauge does not respond properly. It may tell me I have more or less gas than I actually do. I can turn the key off and recrank the engine and have a different reading. Recently it caused my service engine soon light to come on. Also if I am driving a long distant the gauge sometimes will go from empty and start going to full as I drive.
Fuel gauge does not accurately report fuel level. There is a recall for this year, make and model but Nissan says it only for specific VIN's and that not all are subject to the recall even though I have a faulty fuel sensor as well.
Service engine light came on, code is p0463 - fuel high level sensor. The truck is a 2006 Nissan Frontier with 34,000 miles. The dealership said there is a tech bulletin, no recall.
Nissan Frontier 2006 fuel guage no longer working. Service engine soon light came on. Took vehicle to dealer. Vehicle has 50k miles on it. Dealer told me that this was not a recall, and since the truck is no longer under warranty, this would cost me $450 out of pocket. From reading posts on the web, I see that this is a very common problem with Nissans from 2005-2007. I have no way of being sure I have sufficient fuel, which would seem, to me, to be a safety issue. What if I am caught in inclement weather with no fuel? I was told there was no danger in driving the vehicle . . . . . . And am trying to find out why this would not be a recall issue if so many vehicles were affected by the same thing.
Have a 2006 Nissan Frontier which has a defective fuel level indicator. This caused me to fail NJ state inspection. Nissan has a recall on 2006 Nissan Frontier fuel sensors. Apparently even though I have this problem, they are unwilling to repair due to VIN #. I never know how much fuel is in my car.
I have a 2006 Nissan Frontier. While driving down the road the truck shudders and shakes and cannot shift into gear. I had no pick up while driving on the interstate and had cars speeding by me at 75mph while I was barely able to drive the truck. The truck would drive fine and than this would happen out of nowhere. I took it to aamco and found out I had water in the transmission due to a leak in the radiator. I had to pay $2500. 00 to have my transmission rebuilt and a new radiator installed. I feel this should be a recall on Nissans part because it was a faulty radiator that caused the problem and could have caused a severe accident. I have heard of alot of complaints regarding this same problem but Nissan refuses to due a recall. I have the same fuel gauge problem that was just recalled and I ran out of gas because of it. I feel that this needs to be investigated before someone is killed in an accident because their transmission just stops working while driving on the interstate.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. While driving approximately 45 mph, the fuel gauge dropped to empty and the fuel and service lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had to set the trip odometer to monitor fuel usage to avoid running out of fuel. The vehicle would not pass the emissions test because of the defective fuel gauge. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000 and the current mileage was approximately 90,000.
The fuel sending unit on my 2006 Nissan Frontier le is not working properly. When I fill up my truck the fuel gauge falls below empty and the light goes on . At times it says that I have more gas than I really do. It has been brought to my attention that Nissan is selling all their trucks and SUV's with faulty systems. I replaced the fuel cap in hopes that would help.
Fuel gauge on my 2006 Nissan Frontier quit working. I see I'm not the only one by far to have this problem.
2006 Nissan Frontier pickup. Gas senor, after filling gas gauge would not show full. Then check engine light came on.
2006 Nissan Frontier. Problem with service engine soon(ses) light, napa diagnosed issue with a faulty fuel sending unit. This issue did initiate a recall on 2005 Nissan vehicles (systemic to all), but not for later models (like mine). Cost of repair: $400 or more at a dealership, at least $250 non-dealership. Not covered under warranty if over 30k miles. Problem typically occurs after 2-3 years of vehicle ownership.
Service light comes on when fueling truck fuel gauge reads empty after fueling this happens every time I fill up. Nissan refuses to recall the truck with bad fuel sensors.
My Frontier is experiencing a fuel gauge and/or a fuel sending unit failure. The gauge will read empty when there is fuel and in turn will indicate there is fuel when it is running out. I have run out of fuel on at least 3 occasions one of which was quite dangerous at highway speeds. I contacted Nissan and they offered to pay half of the costs (which they say were unknown) to repair this. I believe this failure falls under NHTSA campaign id number 10v075000 and is a safety recall. Thus Nissan should be held fully accountable to repair the vehicle of a known safety problem. The above failure date and mileage are approximate.
2006 Nissan Frontier has a faulty fuel level sensor and the gas gauge works sporadically. This could cause the vehicle to run out of fuel and shut down and possibly cause a crash.
