Fuel sending unit working sporadically and triggered check engine light. Fuel gauge is marking half tank then slowly went up, but fuel tank was filled up. There is also a recall on radiator leaking antifreeze into transmission but has not happened yet.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated while driving at approximately 40 mph, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled without warning. The contact restarted the vehicle and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred twice. An unknown dealer was contacted and the contact was informed that the radiator failed which allowed coolant fluid to enter the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 106,000.
While turning to go up hill toward home vehicle suddenly died. Luckily no one was behind me so I put it in park and after hesitation it finally restarted. I took to dealer, wallace Nissan in kingsport, tennessee and they ran ces code. They suggested having right side cam sensor replacement and float in gas tank where it has quit reading at a cost of approximately 700 to 800 dollars. Currently has not been repaired. Ps : I performed the bypass to avoid cross contamination of radiator fluid and transmission fluid myself after reading of all of the problems that has caused. The transmission has a separate cooler; I don't know why it goes through the bottom of the radiator anyway. Current milage is 49,899 which is low miles for a 2006 model. A person should not have to surf the web to know what their vehicle needs when Nissan should be notifying them. People are paying for unnecessary repairs where a simple recall could have saved them thousands of dollars and more importantly someone's life from an accident.
Tl the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. While driving approximately 30 mph, the rpms increased to 4,000. When the vehicle was placed into reverse, the gear went into neutral. When the vehicle was shifted into drive, it went into low gear without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the radiator fluid leaked into the transmission, and the radiator and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 129,000.
The 2 complaints I have regarding my Frontier have been recalled for the same yr that my Frontier is, but I didn't receive a recall notice for either one. First is the fuel pump sending unit, which shows you how much gas you have in the vehicle. My fuel gauge will show that I have no gas even after I fill up my tank, but then I can park for a few minutes & then the gauge will show that I have a full tank of gas. I ran a diagnostic test, & the results displayed a code that meant it needed a new sending unit. However, with this particular model, I cannot just get the sending unit, because it only comes in one whole piece, meaning that the mechanics will have to empty the gas tank & drop the tank, which is much more work. Therefore, this repair will cost me $900. 00. The second complaint & the most outrageous & disappointing one is regarding my transmission & radiator. Recently I took my Frontier into the shop to habe the transmission fluid checked & changed if it needed to be. However, the mechanic called & informed that after hooking my truck up to a transmission tester, the results indicated that I had pressure problems due to the radiator coolant leaking into the transmission fluid, & causing a chemical reaction that will destroy the clutches inside the automatic transmission. Keep in mind that I only have 80,000 miles on my 2006 Frontier, & needing a new transmission already with this low mileage is absolutely ridiculous & uncalled for. Especially since Nissan has done a recall for the same yr & model of my truck, & for the exact thing that my faulty radiator was doing. For some unknown reason, my radiator model was not on the recall list for either one of the recalls & it should've been, because there are hundreds of consumers that have had the same problem that I have had, & that's with both of my complaints. So I just spent $4,000. 00 for a rebuilt transmission.
On 2/2/2019, I took my vehicle to aamco transmissions to have my transmission checked, because prior to this date I was experiencing alot of jerking and other issues, especially on the highway. After aamco techs looked over my transmission, I was contacted & informed that I had a defective radiator that had contaminated my transmission, due to the radiator leaking coolant into my transmission. I was also informed that Nissan had a lawsuit regarding this very problem, which I was in shock, since no one had ever advised me through mail, email, or even word of mouth. My Frontier is a 2006, but I purchased the vehicle in may of 2007, & on 2/2/2019, my Frontier only had 80,034 miles on it. I'm disabled, & I need my vehicle for doctor appts, & for my two children as well. The most frustrating part of it all is, I take my Frontier to the local Nissan to have them do the oil changes & tire rotations whenever its due, & they always check all of my fluids at the same time. In addition, this issue arouse in 2006 before I purchased the Frontier, but nothing was ever conveyed to me about any issues with this particular year or model. Since there were 3-4 models affected between 2005 thru 2010. I had aamco replace the radiator & transmission, which cost me $4,000. 00, & my Frontier only had 80,000 miles on it, I've never heard or even experienced such an issue, especially with such low mileage before! I even reached out to Nissan corporate office, but they did not feel responsible for the $1,500. 00, which they are because they are the ones that put defective radiators into their products, but did not send out any notifications about this potential problem that a owner could have. My family or myself could've easily been hurt because of their negligence in not notifying consumers/owners. Do they not care about their customers, or is it just about the all mighty dollar!!.
Radiator system.
Tl the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that the radiator cracked, which caused transmission fluid and radiator coolant to mix together. The failure eventually caused the transmission to fail. The vehicle was towed to banister Nissan of norfolk (1250 n military hwy, norfolk, va 23502) where it was determined that the vehicle was not included in any recalls and the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 99,967.
My transmission went out. The mechanic said the radiator leaked into the transmission. This repair costed me $4000, new transmission and new radiator. Was considering buying another Nissan but will never buy another one. I will be providing the bill as soon as I can scan them.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. In addition, the vehicle slowed down and the contact was able to drive back home. The local dealer was not contacted or made aware of the failure. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the radiator fluid spilled into the transmission. The radiator was replaced; however, the radiator fluid contaminated the transmission and fluid, which caused the transmission to fail. The vehicle was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall and did not offer any additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. While driving 25 mph, the gear failed to work without warning. The contact was able to park the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer (younker Nissan located at 3401 e valley rd, renton, wa 98057; (425) 251-8100) where it was diagnosed that the transmission and the radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 132,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. While driving 60 mph, the rpms elevated to red and the speed decreased. The engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the coolant leaked into the transmission and the transmission, radiator hoses, and radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,000.
I just had to replace my transmission due to a recall. Oil and water in the transmission and radiator. I did not own the truck at the time of the recall. . How can I get reimbursed ??? this is terrible!!.
In February, 2017, the radiator on my Nissan Frontier failed. Due to a design flaw, coolant got into the transmission which ruined it. The radiator had to be replaced and the transmission rebuilt at considerable expense (approximately $6k). The radiator failure occurred on the road and I was able to limp to a service station. Fortunately, the transmission failure did not occur on the road but could have causing a very dangerous situation.
While driving my 2006 Nissan Frontier the truck would not respond to the accelerator being pressed and then began jerking. The check engine light came on and it has been doing this for a couple of days. I took it to my mechanic and he said is was the radiator leaking into the transmission and destroying the transmission which Nissan knows about the defct but has chosen not to fix. If I was traveling at a high speed on the interstate and the truck did not respond to the accelerator and started to jerk a collision would have happened. The fact that Nissan knew about this defect and chose not to inform me of the problem causes considerable alarm.
I have a cracked radiator that is leaking coolant into the transmission of my 2006 Nissan Frontier. When the 2 fluids mix it creates a mixture called toxic hell stew that is irreversible and will eventually kill my 5-speed automatic transmission.
According to the mechanic, the transmission coolant reservoir (which is connected to the radiator) collapsed causing water, antifreeze and transmission fluid to mix. These fluids then made their way into the radiator, transmission and coolant reservoir. This, in turn, caused extensive damage to my transmission. My transmission then required replacement/rebuild. The first possible sign of the problem was rough automatic shifting of the vehicle. I then noticed a leak of transmission fluid from the front passenger side of the vehicle (which was parked in my driveway). This was followed by a loss of power/drivability.
While driving down the highway at 60 mph, my 2006 Nissan Frontier suddenly was running very rough, it decelerated and I only had low gear enough to barely make it off the hwy and out of the way of high speed traffic. No dash/idiot lights came on identifying any problems, there was no warning at all. Truck was towed to Nissan dealership who said the transmission, and radiator, and thermostat all needed to be replaced!! they charged us $5,500. This truck only had 135,000 miles, and was kept in great condition, at time of it's failure. Nissan should be ashamed of making the consumer bear the cost of Nissan's faulty parts!! they are flat out lucky if no one's been injured, or killed due to this failure! had I been on the interstate as planned the very next day, in this truck, I wonder if I'd be here today. There should be no question or hesitation that this "transmission failure" is a safety issue and needs to be a full fledged recall. And we should not have to foot the bill for Nissan's screw-ups with our hard earned money. It is simply wrong.
Cross contamination of coolant and transmission fluid due to factory defect in radiator. Began with no heat suddenly in the middle of January. No check engine light to warn of issue. Changed out the thermonstat and noticed the strawberry foamy liquid in the radiator then search 2006 Nissan transmission problems on line. Vehicle also stops and starts very, very, slowly in intersections, on ramps.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that the vehicle shifted out of gear independently which resulted into deceleration of the vehicle and stalled. During the failure the check engine soon light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vehicle's radiator coolant tank had leaked fluid onto the transmission and they needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000. Kh.
The vehicle has 86,700 miles, I always took care of it, changing oil at 3000 mile intervals, never towed with it, etc. , etc. , while driving the trans slipped out of gear, luckily I was able to pull over and nobody was in back of me, when I got it to the dealer, they said the timing chain and guides needed replacement plus the radiator leaked and the trans cooler contaminated the transmission and they both had to be replaced and it cost me near $5000. 00 for total repairs.
Bought the truck used at a Nissan dealership. Had under 50k miles. 2 months ago check engine light came on and heat was not working. Had it looked at several times spending money each time but they could not find problem. Last month truck started running rough. Found out this week it needs a new transmission/radiator due to a problem that Nissan has known about for years. There was a class action lawsuit about the problem. They said my truck is too old to qualify for help. According to sites I see we do qualify and I need some help. It overheated today and broke down on highway and is not drivable. I need someone to help me with this.
I was informed that there was a cracked radiator in my truck that was leaking fluids into my transmission. This was on Sunday 9/27/15. The employee of my local dealership informed me about this. The following I was informed by the service department that I would need to replace the radiator and transmission. I was told that this was an "ongoing" issue going on with vehicles that match my make and model.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that after taking the vehicle on a trip, it was witnessed that the vehicle was leaking transmission and radiator fluid. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that water was mixing with transmission fluid, which resulted in the engine failure. Details of the repair was unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 142,000. Wh.
I bought my 06 Nissan Frontier with 95000 miles great truck loved it when it got to 118000 miles the radiator messed up causing me to replace the rad and trans flush 500$ two weeks later no reverse one day headed home from work going up lick hill second gear gos out causing me to get rearened then there's 200$ for towing and a smashed up truck just spent 8000 on the truck and can not afford to put 4000 more in it what the hell this is a joke my truck will rot to the ground before I spend 4000 more I hope this is taken care of nobody should have to deal with this now I a piece of just that's not worth 2500 Nissan u suck.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. While idling or coming to stop, the vehicle would shutter. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a routine oil change and diagnostic testing. The technician determined that there was a leak in the radiator causing the coolant to seep in to the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 92,000.
I purchased my vehicle directly from the manufactured on June 27, 2006. On or about September 26, 2014 my 2006 Nissan Frontier started having a strong vibration causing my steering the be unstable and the automatic transmission seemed to slip and then catch when my car changes gears from 30-35-40-45-50-55 mph. On October 3, 2014, I took my vehicle into the Nissan dealership here on kauai and after 5. 5 hours I was informed my radiator had a crack and was leaking into my transmission. I was told there was a class action lawsuit file regarding this issue and there was now extended warranties on these parts for failure. The extended warranty for no cost to customer is 80000 miles/8 years. My vehicle is under the 80000 miles, but I am over the 8 years by 3 months. I spoke with the manager and he called Nissan north America to see if there was anything they would do regarding the fact my truck was only 3 months over the 8 years and below the miles on the extended warranty. I received a call back from him stating they would not cover anything additional and I would need to cover the $2500 CO-payment to replace the radiator and transmission. I was however told if I wanted to trade in my vehicle for a new one, they would deduct the $2500 from the price of a new vehicle. I told him I would not buy another Nissan sine they do not stand by their product. There are hundreds if not thousands of people who bought Nissans with this issue. Nissan is aware of the problem and there should be a recall on this item as it could cause the transmission to cease. I now have to drive this vehicle with the vibration I believe is unsafe until the parts come in. I guess they are going to wait until this causes an accident and someone gets hurt to recall the defect in their automobiles.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle was shuddering and the transmission had malfunctioned. The contact also stated that vehicle would not accelerate properly and began to over heat and the "check engine " warning light was illuminated. The contact had then coasted over to a service station and inserted water in the coolant reservoir. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and the mechanic stated that there was a cracked atf line that ran through the engine coolant chamber in the radiator which caused contamination, the radiator needed to be replaced and the transmission needed to be rebuilt. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure and the approximate failure mileage was 99,000. Gb.
We bought this Nissan new in 2006 -great little truck. But recently the engine would stall and all the lights on the dash came on. Took it to our mechanic he said it was a tran code took it to the Nissan dealership and they said the coolant had gotten into the trans or vise versa (a lot to take in),so I needed a new transmission and radiator. I found this issue on your website for a recall but my vehicle was within the years of the recall but it has over 100,000 it has130 so the dealership said there was nothing they could do to help with the $5500 bill they just quoted me. Is there any help out there for me on this issue??? please.
I have a 2006 Nissan Frontier with cross contamination of radiator fluid and transmission fluid. The dealer states the known defect is beyond the 100,000 mile cutoff for the extend manufacturers warranty that deals with this common and well known defect. The estimated cost of repair is 4800. 00 with the full burden resting on me for a common and well known manufacturing defect that could have been avoided had Nissan recalled the vehicles and made the repairs as soon as they were aware. There is a class action lawsuit but again my vehicle is outside of the parameters of the lawsuit. I don't quite know what to do as I like most everyone don't have $5000. 00 sitting around and unfortunately my credit is in horrible shape so I can't get a loan to pay for it nor can I qualify for a loan to trade it in. How in the world can I ever justify buying another Nissan product knowing they don't produce a safe, quality product and they are not willing to fix defective equipment.
The Nissan Frontier radiator contaminated the transmission with coolant thus causing the transmission to malfunction in a busy traffic area. This issue caused my vehicle to shutter thus forcing the traffic to the rear of me to lock up brakes to avoid hitting me. To my dismay, this problem is known by Nissan who refuses to fix the issues. To prove the issue is larger than Nissan admits, choose transmission repair shops in any area, make a phone call and tell them you own a Nissan Frontier, you will need say no more, the shop manager will without prompt say "you have transmission issues due to the radiator contaminating the transmission, you will have to rebuild/replace the transmission. " it is up to the NHTSA to protect the consumer from fraudulent companies such as Nissan. A recall is the only course of action. . . Most consumers cannot afford the cost of a transmission (upwards or 7000 dollars) and will drive their Nissan regardless of the danger the transmission slippage causes. It is now time for the recall before someone is injured or killed.
My 2006 Nissan Frontier has automatic transmission fluid in the radiator, and radiator coolant in the automatic transmission. The transmission is now shifting improperly.
When set in d, the rpm's dropped. Next day driving 20 sec. And looses all power. Can shift the gear stick, but the transmission does not engage. No audible warning or anything like that. Just stopped driving. Got code p1759 and p1769. Needs new transmission and radiator because the coolant leaked into transmission. $5500 is the quote from the dealer.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while attempting to shift into reverse, the vehicle failed to respond without warning. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was advised that the radiator fluid was leaking into the transmission. As a result, the radiator and the power transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 106,000. The VIN was not available.
At low speeds the transmission stutters / hesitates. I've been told by Nissan that I need a new valve body. I believe my vehicle suffers from the radiator / transmission issues as experienced by many other customers.
