Frame Rust Problems of Nissan Frontier

While replacing the truck bed for rust we discovered the frame is rusted almost in half in multiple spots. Frame was not sprayed to prevent rust. Spayed to prevent rust in the pictures was done by us.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. While attempting to drive, the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission failed. While repairing the vehicle, it was discovered that the transmission could not be installed because sections of the subframe were rusted and corroded. No further information was available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,000.

While having minor cosmetic repairs done, our [reputable] body shop repairman pointed out that the front radiator support frame is completely rusted through. Everything else on this truck is solid. I am meticulous about it. There is obviously some sort of defect on this area for it to be 90% deteriorated! the slightest touch causes it to crumble. . . In the past, even Toyota has stood behind their vehicles with corrosion issues. . . I would certainly hope Nissan could look into this the same way. . . Its a real shame that I can only see another year maybe before my radiator falls out and causes something much worse. . .

The contact owns a 2000 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that after having the vehicle inspected, she was informed that the frame was severely rusted. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the frame, bed and air conditioning connection were all rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were approximately 144,000.
