The brake pedals travels further down than top of accelerator pedal. In winter when wearing winter boots I had to make an quick stop to avoid a pedestrian crossing the street on a crosswalk. I found myself depressing the brake pedal and accelerator at same time nearly hitting person. There have been other incidents not as serious. I called dealer and Nissan with no satisfaction. I also asked non-dealer shops and they said that nothing was wrong as far as they could see. My conclusion is that this is a design problem. The brake pedal, in an emergency, should not travel that far down. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Weak clutch 2009 Nissan Frontier se 4x4 4. 0 litre, 6 speed man transmission. 10,331 miles and clutch slips in 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and little no engagement in reverse. Slips on sudden acceleration. Manufacturer always blame customer's on fault. Truck was not abused by me. Manufacturer is not admitting failure. If you search for Nissan Frontier clutch problems on the internet, you will see, that the same powerplant belongs to a 2006 Nissan xterra and at 13,000 and the 24,000 this person had to replace the clutch as well as slips. 2nd issue, the brakes assembled on my truck were missing on both left and right side front brake pad retainer springs. Brakes pull right and damaged rt rotor. Required machine shop to repair lateral out of round. Possible cause is missing lower retainers springs and now developed into sticking calipers. 3rd issue. Rattle noise from suspension area on uneven road surfaces or manhole lids at slow speeds. Unable to locate cause with suspension both loaded and unloaded. Have used even rubber mallet to no avail.
Refer to odi confirmation number 103268. The summary was completely entered in a false manner. My actual complaint was that there were no camper adjustment devices installed on the original vehicle, not that they had become defective. They were never there!!! I do not appreciate being blown off nor should I be mis-quoted, no that is not harsh enough, my complaint was completely fabricated. I tried to contact the odi office using the phone number provided on the NHTSA website "contact odi
(888) 327-4236
tty: (800) 424-9153" but this number told they could contact the odi office or give me a phone number, so here I sit typing due to your original [xxx] in entering this complaint. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The rubber pad that activates the brake light switch crumbled and fell apart leaving the brake lights continually on with no indication inside the vehicle that an unsafe condition existed. Since the brake lights were continually on drivers to the rear would not have had notification that I was stopping which could have resulted in a severe rear end collision.

I purchased a 2006 Nissan Frontier se p/u in December 2006. The problem is that the brake pedal seems to have little resistance, brake pedal and accelerator in a position to press both at the same time. Dealer states that there is not a fix for this issue. Nissan has redesigned the system for 2007 to fix this problem. However they refuse to correct this potential safety issue for 2006.
Water gets in the seal of the upper rear tail light/cargo light. The water leaks through damaging the headliner and carpet. Also blew my fuse and none of the lights work in it, as well as blowing out the fuse every time I replace it. There is still no updated version or recall for it all you can do is get a new one and hope it lasts a little longer.

A report was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that the vehicle was not under a recall. They further stated that salt may be the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000 and current mileage was 72,000. Updated 12/16/08 the fuel tank sensor was replaced twice. The inside tail/brake light fall out of their sockets due to rust in the mechanisms. Updated 12/19/08.
