My 1998 Nissan Frontier xe king cab has around 93,400 miles on it and it started to make noise on the drivers front side, when I would go over bumps and now it makes noise even on smooth roads. I asked my friend to take a look under the left front side of the truck and he said that my stabilizer bar is broken and that his friend had a 1999 Nissan Frontier xe king cab and it was a recall due to the washers being the wrong size and so he took my truck to the dealer last week and they told him their was no recall on the stabilizer bar and so he told them this is safety issue and he would contact Nissan about this issue, yesterday Nissan consumers affairs contacted me and told me that they talked to the buena park Nissan dealer and that their was nothing they could do because the truck is out of warranty. In the end I am going to take my truck to my mechanic and have this problem fixec, but my friend said my stabilizer bar will break again because of the wrong size washers, he feels this is a safety defect and should be reported and that Nissan should correct the problem.

Vehicle became hard to control, regarding steering and just trying to keep the truck from drifting. Discovered that the retaining nut had worked loose and sway bar was not secured to the right side of car. Was repaired at the dealership.

Noticed that truck had a lean to the passenger side. When taking left turns, truck would list and lean excessively to the passenger side. This is especially troublesome in downhill turns or under adverse weather conditions. Sought dealer help multiple times as well as Nissan consumer affairs. Dealer adjusted ride height, said these trucks had a torsion bar issue, nothing else they could o. Consumer affairs did nothing but refer me to another dealer, same result. A letter to the president of the company produced a letter back telling me to go to contact consumer affairs. Truck has also broken stabilizer nuts several times. Took vehicle to an alignment an suspension expert, said the truck ride height cannot be adjuster up to factory specs, and maintain alignment. He had to lower the vehicle to allow it to be aligned properly. It is my guess that there is a design issue or part failure. I believe Nissan knows this, and lowered the ride height themselves to allow alignment at the factory, sacrificing balance, driveability and safety. I notice most models of this truck have the same tilt to the passenger side.
