No follow up from dealer about NHTSA campaign number 02v299000. I called Nissan to get more information because my abs sensor lights tend to turn on during rainy days. Researched online and found this recall, asked to schedule my truck for servicing with no results, not even a call back.

: the contact stated since the vehicle was purchased there was a knocking sound under the rear of the vehicle when the brake pedal was depressed or when reversing at 3 mph. The vehicle was taken to an independent service dealer who replaced the rear shocks, but the noise continued. The service dealer inspected the vehicle 5 times and could not identify the problem. The manufacturer was not notified.
- the contact stated that while driving the 2000 Nissan Frontier at 45 mph she heard a loud noise at the rear of the vehicle. The contact was informed that the noise was due to corrosion of the bearings. The bearings corroded because of inadequate sealing of the antilock breaking system, which caused water and moisture to reach the bearings. The dealership repaired the left side axle ,and installed bearings. The contact stated there was a recall for the same problem. However, was informed by the dealership that this vehicle was not apart of the recall. The vehicle currently had 63000 miles. Updated 03/19/07.

The contact owns a 2002 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs to the rear seals under NHTSA campaign id number: 02v299000 (suspension:rear) in 2003. One year later, the left rear seal began leaking on the axle. Then, in 2005 the wheel assembly fractured from the axle because the seal failed a second time. In total, the contact has had the seals replaced seven times and most recently, the contact was advised by the dealer that the rear housing was defective. The failure mileage was 15,000 and the current mileage was 21,000.
The truck is unsafe to drive as the back end "fishtails" after any bump is a curve. The dealer does not have the parts to fix.
Repeated defect with sway back bushing in normal driving conditions. Driving in normal conditions, area mostly driving from 4-8 miles per day.
Vehicle vibrates and shakes excessively at highway speeds, numerous repair attempts without resolve. Dealership beleives there is a problem with this model of truck and has told me that they have seen this problem often with this model truck. Manufacture claims no problem. So far I have had 3 sets of tires, gas shocks, several balances on tires and a tow package installed to try and solve problem. Dealership also mentioned trying to shim the drive train.

Rear suspension to soft, vehicle reacts with body sway to wind turbulence around 60 mph, side wind, side around semi-trucks. Feels like tire bad tire drift, dealer rotated tires, no-help. Body sway bad enough it's scary to drive sometimes, wife won't on expressway. There has to be a fix.
