Went to my local garage to get my tires balanced. Mechanic reported that 1 of the 4 tires (all bought together) was beginning to come apart internally / belt separation. The tires were installed during October of 2019. They have less than 8000 miles on the tires. Vendor is reimbursing me for the one tire that was found to have the defect. Thankfully this was caught early, but am very concerned as the other 3 tires have the same dot number.

6 Tire problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 03/13/2013

I was traveling south on highway 94 going home from my class. The road was slightly wet from snow prior in the day. I was going about 60mph when my vehicle felt as if my back tires were spinning or making like a quick slip. It continued doing this so I slowed down to 45mph. Was still happening repeatedly. Over the next several months it continued, I was thinking I might need new tires, even though the ones I had on the truck several people said they were fine. When the weather warmed up and we no longer has snow I didn't notice the "quick spin of my tires" issue as much. I purchased new tires in November of 2013 and still am experiencing the same issue. It's a very scary feeling, you don't know if your going to have your tires spin quickly like that and go into a full spin and roll. Also you never know when its going to happen, it just does it when it wants to.

I have these tires original from Nissan when I bought the truck. After 28,000 miles, they would just peel off on the top layer and leave the rest of the tire intact. At high speeds, this has caused major damage to my truck by a slapping action of the peeled layer. They should notify all consumers of this defect.

22 Tire problem of the 2000 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/02/2001

During new york state motor vehicle inspection of above mentioned vehicle, it was pointed out by the licensed inspector that the tires on said vehicle showed an abnormal and excessive amount of cracking/checking in the deep portion of the tread(inner and outer grove of each tire). For a tire with these few miles and less than one year old the inspector felt that, eventhough they passed inspection, I should persue the matter further with regard to warrantee agreements. The inspector seem to feel that there was reason to be concerned about this tire if I was going to do some towing later in the year. I called Nissan motor-filed a report with them-they sent me to call on bf goodrich-filed a report with them. -bf goodrich sent me to a dealer that handles there claims-he looked at the tire and told me that it was dry rot and that it was normal-I have since gone to another nys motor vehicle inspection station, they seem to feel that this is not normal for a tire with these few miles and this age. . I have since been looking at tires of other vehicles with even more miles and do not see any cracking/checking to the extent that I do with these tires. . Can someone please help? (dot number: apm1hl1123 tiresize: p235/70r15).

Failure Date: 09/04/2000

All four of our tires are the same brand and dot number. These tires are not currently listed on the recall list. They came on our 1999 Nissan truck when we purchased it new. One of the tires has already separated and was discovered before causing an accident. Since all 4 tires had the same dot numbers, we replaced all 4 of them immediately with non-firestone tires to prevent an accident and possible death. We did not discard the firestone tires in case we needed them for inspection purposes. Again, we do have possession of the firestone tires. ( dot number: w2vf nna tire size: p215/65r15 ).

I replaced the tires with michelen symmetry tires on 9/12/00. The dealer & manufacturer haven't responded personally to this problem. They seemed unconcerned about my safety concerns. (dot number: w2vf tiresize: p215/65r15).

31 Tire problem of the 1998 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 11/07/1998

What is a "counter balanced tire?" Nissan had to replace my original tires. It took them 22,000 miles to figure out the tires were defective. Wayne sims a service advisor at peltier, kept speaking of counter balanced tires, I have never heard of this. With this firestone scare, I'm afraid there are other sizes that have a problem and Nissan knows about it. With only 2000 characters, I can't type everything I need to. . The tire w/traction rating of "b" is inadequate for the weight of the truck. In wet conditions the truck will skid (when approaching a stop sign)when braking. I have contacted Nissan (claim no. 2889591) and was told that it is neither general 's or Nissan's responsibilty. I disagreed with Nissan and informed them that they are responsible for selecting this tire for the truck. ( dot number: tire size: p235 70r15 ).
