Sidewall failed at 70mph on I-40 westbound causing immediate deflation of the tire almost causing loss of vehicle control. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by any police or manufacturer. 2 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2000 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 07/28/2015

The contact owns a 2000 Nissan Frontier equipped with firestone primewell tires, size: 215/65/r15. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact felt a vibration in the tires. The contact discovered that the sidewall was separated from the thread of the rear passenger side tire. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician stated that the tire needed to be replaced. The tire was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 107,183 and the tire failure mileage was 319.

Bf goodrich radial long trail t/a tire dot ap72fd313914 with 2000 miles on it on a brand new Nissan Frontier crew cab short bed pickup truck has rubber coming off of the sidewall of the tire. Contact michelin about the problem was told to take it to a michelin dealer and have them write up a report to send to michelin. Can not get costco to write the report as they don't believe there is anything wrong with rubber coming off of the sidewall of the tire.

4 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2000 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 06/22/2013

Brand new tires with less than 500 miles on them, after 2 attempts they still would not take a balance. Owner determined by spinning the tires on the vehicle that the tread block wobbled side to side and the sidewall height varied as the tire was rotated. Vendor replaced two of the four tires under warranty.

6 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 08/18/2009

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The vehicle has cooper tires, tire line dominator all season, tire size 235\75\15. While driving approximately 75 mph on normal road conditons; the vehicle began to vibrate excessively. The driver pulled over to the side of the road. The vehicle was inspected, the front driver tire exhibited complete tread separation and the steel belt was exposed. The vehicle was taken to a tire shop. The defective tire was replaced with a new tire and the tires were rotated. There was a separate occasion with failure of the front driver defective tire which exhibited complete tread separation; and a sidewall blow out occurred. The dot number was unknown. The contact is aware of the safety risk involved. The tire was replaced and the failure mileage was 79,117. The current mileage was 80,350.

7 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2000 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 04/20/2009

While cleaning truck, I noticed hundreds of small cracks in the tire sidewall area on all four tires. All small cracks were on the sidewall that was exposed. No cracks were observed on the inner sidewall area. No failure noted as of now but I'm leary about keeping these tires on the vehicle for safety reasons. The tires are michelin xcx/apt truck/SUV tires that were installed on 10/2004 and they have only 33,268 miles on them so far (60k mile warranty). The vehicle is a 2000 Nissan Frontier xe, v6, 2wd. The tire size is p235/75r15.

8 Tire Sidewall problem of the 1999 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 09/08/2003

Both lights and attachments by license plate fell out. Both bulbs and attachments were lost while driving 1 or two weeks apart. Airbag light flashing in past month. Have had mechanic check out and states fuse and everything is okay but the airbag light flashes continuously while vehicle is on. Firestone tires blew out at sidewall x2 tires at 30,000 miles. This was the original tires with vehicle bought brand new. Nissan or firestone stated could not reimburse for loss.

General grabber aw (225-75-15). I almost had three rollovers with my 7 year old son in the truck. Entering I-24 w exit 78 heading from murfreesboro to nashville. I was traveling at speeds not over 35mph. I would have lost control of the truck if I was going any faster. The sidewalls of the tires are defective. You can tell by visual inspections.

B. F. Goodrich, radial long trail t/a tires p235/70r15, dot unknown, original equipment on a 2000, Nissan, Frontier with 18000 miles. While driving 65 mph left rear sidewall separated from tread all the way around. No accident. The consumer believes that part of the tire failure was caused by the tire tread design and the grooved freeway surface, at 65 mph with proper tire inflation pressure the truck vibrates badly, the consumer is unaware that the tire is losing pressure until the tire blewout the sidewall.

I've only owned this vehicle for 2 weeks. I have digital images of the tire and will send them upon request. The failure was sidewall blowout, not result of running over something. While traveling 65-70mph vehicle jerked to the side & lost control. It started to slide downhill & over an embankment. Finally, came to a stop & owner got out & checked vehicle & tires. Noticed a large hole in the right front sidewall where it had split. Tire had blown. Vehicle had not hit anything. Tire was a firestone wilderness p215/65r15 95s.

All tires on this vehicle have splits in the area where the tread and sidewall joins. Although there have been no failures at this point , if these are not replaced soom failure is a given. I recently measured the tread depth on these tires and found 7/32 remaining indicating proper presure and alignment have been maintained .
