1 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2006 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 11/18/2015

The vehicle has 86,700 miles, I always took care of it, changing oil at 3000 mile intervals, never towed with it, etc. , etc. , while driving the trans slipped out of gear, luckily I was able to pull over and nobody was in back of me, when I got it to the dealer, they said the timing chain and guides needed replacement plus the radiator leaked and the trans cooler contaminated the transmission and they both had to be replaced and it cost me near $5000. 00 for total repairs.

2 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2013 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 12/27/2014

Transmission won't go into gear forward or reverse at times. When driving on the road transmission won't shift out of 3rd gear into over drive, after topping a hill and going back downhill. Truck will do a jerking motion when pulling out from a stop. On interstate i81 truck speed was 50-55 mph the rpm's was 6,000 and the rpm's would not shift into higher gear. When it did shift it was a very hard shift. It has been going on since the day I bought this truck brand new. I have had it to the dealership numerous times and they can not find out what it is. The truck doesn't through a code, so they can't work on it till it does. I pull a small pop up camper at times and it acts up more when the truck is under stress. I have where the Nissan dealership has seen the truck and their comments. They did offer me an extended warranty till 2020. I don't feel safe driving the truck on the road and especially when my family in the truck. I only have a little over 23,000 miles on the truck as to date. Nissan denied my request for another truck because they said my claim falls outside the time period for filing claims. I have the repair paper work and letters from the Nissan group.

3 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 05/08/2014

I was driving down a back road. While traveling up a slight hill the truck slipped out of gear. When I pressed the gas pedal the engine would rev but it would not accelerate. I pulled to the side of the road and turned off the truck. When I restarted and put it in drive I started rolling backwards. I ended up getting towed to my mechanic. If this was the original transmission I could understand that at 155k miles it could fail, however this truck has now gone through the factory transmission as well as a factory refurbished transmission all within 7 years. I read online about many Frontier owners having the same issue as I have. I brought the truck to my mechanic who informed me that the radiator fails which causes the transmission to fail. I feel lucky that I was on a back road because the failure happened quickly, had I been on a highway with moderate traffic I could easily been stranded in the middle of the road.

4 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2008 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 02/03/2014

On the above date I first noticed that when the vehicle was idling the truck would not throw any heat. On April 26, 2014 the transmission would not shift out of overdrive. I shut the vehicle down, restarted and push the button to take out overdrive and vehicle was driven in fourth. On may 8, 2014 while driving the "check engine light" came on as well as the 4 wheel lo range light came on and I drove it 2 miles to my home, shut the engine down and it never restarted again.

5 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2005 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

At highway speed of 70 mph and in a rainstorm, Nissan Frontier 2005 seemed to slip out of gear and never re engage. Was left on the roadside unable to shift into any gear. Motor would start and when shifted into any gear, would rev with no transmission engagement. Vehicle towed to a transmission shop who pulled the pan and found radiator fluid in the transmission. Told me that this was a common problem with Frontiers, pathfinders, and xterras, but Nissan was not taking responsibility for the design flaw. I am now left with a $6000. 00 dollar repair on a truck the is only worth about $6000. 00.

6 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 09/11/2012

I was merging onto highway interstate 85 in traffic that was flowing at speeds of approximately 75-80 mph, and the vehicle failed to shift out of third gear. This incident forced me to take immediately action and pull to the side of the road, which put my life in danger during rush hour traffic. I learned from the Nissan dealership that the transmission in vehicles that were manufactured the same year, make and model, were defected but there was no recall. Since that time, April 5, 2013 to be exact, the transmission in my vehicle has failed because of a manufacture's defect. Something needs to be done about this hazardous threat to consumers before someone get seriously injured or killed.

7 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2005 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 07/24/2012

While driving at a speed of 60-65 on the highway my 2005 Nissan Frontier feels like the transmission slips out of gear and starts to grind. This occurs only under acceleration and I do not mean hard acceleration. I am simply at a cruising speed on the highway and trying to simply maintain a speed and the noise occurs daily. I am not positive that the noise is coming from the transmission because I am no mechanic, but the sound is a grinding sound which means it is a gear grinding somewhere. I took the vehicle to a Nissan dealer three times and all I was told is that the transmission is okay. I do not have a service engine light on so maybe that is the reason, but I was able to show the dealer the noise and still no help. All I wanted when I bought this truck is a reliable car and I do not have one. Nissan should be held responsible for putting out a subpar product. I know based on the online forums that I am not alone in these issues with the truck.

8 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2000 Nissan Frontier

Failure Date: 12/31/2004

No specific events led to failure. At approximately 109,500 the transmission begain jumping out of first gear without warning. I had t be extremely aware of this when pulling ino traffic. At 110,079 miles, the first gear failed completely when I was pulling out of my driveway. The complete failure occured on Dec. 31, 2004. The sudden jumping out of gear started about a month before that. At the very least, Nissan should advise all owners of 5 speed manual transmission on Nissan crew cab 4wd units with a v-6 engine that when the gear box jumps from first to neutral position, that first gear failure is imminate.
