36 Suspension problem of the 2010 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 12/27/2017

Bought my 2010 Maxima about 6 months ago. After driving it home I heard a horrible rattling in the steering wheel and a clattering in the front end. The dealership had given me a 3 month warranty so I contacted them the same day I got the car to report the problem. After calling the dealership 3 to 4 times a week for 5 months, they finally had me bring the car in. The first visit they replaced the steering joint. The problem persisted and seemed worse than before. The second time I was told that my car had a bad rack and that the part would be in in 4 days. 4 weeks later they finally changed the rack. I received the car back and to my surprise the rattling in the steering wheel was even worse and it felt as if my tires were gonna just fall off the car. Now almost a year later the problem still persists and Nissan refuses to fix it.

37 Suspension problem of the 2010 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 12/15/2017

My 2010 nisssan Maxima has 54,900 miles. In December 2017 I noticed a rattle in the car from the passenger side when ever going over bumps or rough road. Since the vehicle was due for a tire rotation I took the vehicle to my tire shop where they discovered that both suspension springs on the passenger side were broken. Both breaks occurred at the bottom portion of the spring. The broken parts look almost identical. Fortunately they caused no further damage although damage to the tires or suspension could have occurred with resulting loss of control. I took the vehicle to the local dealer's service department where they advised that this type of failure is typical and there is no recall or reimbursement for this component failure. Having owned different vehicles of all types over the last 40 years I have never had suspension spring failure with any vehicle even though they would have had higher mileage than this 2010 Nissan. It is surprising that Nissan does not admit to a spring problem when you consider that they have recalled hundreds of thousands of vehicles for suspension spring earlier failures. I believe this type of failure should be further investigated with the manufacturer before someone suffers an injury due to early failure of a key suspension component.

Upon inspection the frame and cross member are rusted beyond repair. It is now too dangerous to drive and ultimately useless. The mechanic is afraid to let the car down off the lift to support its own weight. How is this even possible and even close to acceptable? this car has been stored in a garage, not driven often, and properly maintained. This is completely unacceptable.

48 Suspension problem of the 2001 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 01/25/2016

The lower radiator support beam rusted out causing the engine support to brake free from the beam. Now the entire lower support beam needs to be replaced at an extremely high cost of labor and parts. This is a common problem according to all the car websites and the youtube videos showing how to change out the beam. I do not see any recalls for this. For as many people who seem to have had this problem it should have been recalled. People were having this problem 5 yrs ago according to the videos and reports. According to the body shop this is a major problem and they have seen a lot of this type of corrosion issues with this Nissan model and year. According to what I have been told a very serious accident can occur while driving this vehicle if the beam breaks while in motion at high speed. There are still a large number of this year and make on the street and no warnings have been given to the public.

49 Suspension problem of the 2009 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 01/08/2016

Steering wheel lock - ignition lock assembly failure. I purchased my 2009 Nissan MA xima in Nov 2012 and my car has been running pretty good until the dreaded day when I was stranded because my car would not start. I had my car towed and I was told that thevsteeringbwheel lock assembly needed to be replaced $1189. 00. I don't know about you, but im not made out of money. After a little research I discovered that this problem has been happening since 09. This is outrageous and Nissan should have owned up and fixed this problem along time ago. This is unacceptable and there should be a recall and not just a bulletin. There is a problem and nissa needs to fix there wrong, instead selling cars knowing that there is a problem. A recall needs to be issued and Nissan needs to do the repairs immediately with no charge to their customers.

Tires vibrated as if out of balance. Took back to dealer he rebalanced and rotated tires. This did not change vibration. Continued to have vibration and dealer stated he could find nothing wrong with tires. Dealer stated he had never seen a bad tire only bad drivers. These were new tires with less than 3000 miles. I continued to drive withn these tires but finally changed to cooper radials. Have no problem since changing. Feel dealer unjust in evaluation and complaint. 64 Suspension problem of the 2010 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 04/23/2015

I began noticing an odd noise in the front of the vehicle when traveling over rough roads, potholes or bumps. The noise quickly became worse and more metallic sounding. I have another vehicle and this car was not driven all winter and little so far this year. So it has not been used much since a new cvt was installed under warranty. I took it to a local garage I trust and after test driving it heard the noise and put it on the lift. It was then both front springs were found to be broken in almost the exact same spot. A very odd occurrence for sure. This is not covered by warranty and is certainly a safety issue.

66 Suspension problem of the 2009 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 03/25/2015

We purchased a 2009 Nissan Maxima after driving the car home we noticed a popping sound that was coming from the front of the car. We had it checked by a mechanic and was told it was the front end. He replaced the struts, and a couple of the other parts. When we pick the car up it was making more noise the when we brought it in. The mechanic took a look underneath the car near the wheel. He had to take one of the parts off because it had malfunction. He stated it was a faulty malfunction part. He replaced it and the one side stop popping. While the passenger front wheel still makes a popping noise. I have owed a Toyota, Honda and I have never had such an on going problem. After reading the issues that everyone is having with the front end. I think I have made a mistake buying a Nissan. I have also replaced to rims because of cracking and warping.

67 Suspension problem of the 2009 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 11/07/2014

I have had several complaints with my 2009 Nissan Maxima, first I keep having to replace the battery which I received a new battery from the dealer in January of 2013 with an 84 month warranty, well today the battery died again. I have had issues with the steering colum since I purchased the vehicle in August of 2008. The first time steering column locked and the vehicle had to be towed to dealer and was replaced under warranty. It was replaced again the next few months and I was told it was the battery and then several months later stopped working again the up and down function. Second the vechile suspension was supposedly replaced due the recall . . . But I was told recently by dealer that it need to be replaced again and they were trying to charge me over $1200 for a recalled item. Which I refused to pay.

70 Suspension problem of the 2004 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 09/17/2014

1n4ba41ex4c896406 starting it up takes 2-3x with putting the gas pedal all the way to the floor, then it jerks into gear. While driving it just stalls out which is very scary & dangerous and it goes from drive to 5th gear no 1-4, and it hesitates & when driving up to a red light for example, then it starts to conk out. Also no pick up from an idle position, I just bought it 9/17/14 and called dealer and he told him it wont pass inspection "check engine light on" constant. It feels like transmission isn't in proper gear (5th) just stalls while driving. Everyone behind me leans on the horn and yells at me when it stalls out in drive. Im afraid to drive it. The dealer (north shore auto mall, lynn MA 01905, mgr name kevin, real jerk !!) said they did a 21 point inspection, but thats bs, they would have caught that seeing that they are in the business and knew they sold me a car w/bad transmission/alternator. Now they dont want to know me. Please give me some resources that you know of to remedy the problem. I could go on & on about the treatment I had to endure but that wont help hopefully you can regards susan dallesandro 857-237-7661 suzydell@gmail. Com ".
