2 Tire problem of the 2019 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 06/06/2021

We were traveling on a lightly crowded highway when all at once the car shuddered, tire and warning lights came on, noise and vibration levels increased dramatically. I managed to pull over and then off the highway in order to replace the damaged tire with the donut spare. The roadway was clear, and we did not run over any objects. The tire was utterly flat. It had failed instantly, as opposed to a leak. The attached photo shows that the inner sidewall of the tire failed simultaneously, in multiple places. Note!!! earlier batches of this same brand/make/model tire have already been recalled! the tires on my car were made 3 weeks after the listed dot batch week end. The recall period needs to be extended.

3 Tire problem of the 2000 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 01/27/2021

Tires. Goodyear viva 3 model, size 215/55r16 (and most other sizes). These tires go out of round at exceptionally low mileage. An common complaint at walmart (the only retailer that sells this model) is that the tires go out of round, produce unbelievable noise, and vibration in the steering column. I have experience both these effects as well, and the tires were installed on a newly (days before) aligned vehicle, and have less than 5,000 miles on them. . Read more...

5 Tire problem of the 2009 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 11/21/2013

I should be getting 4 new tires from my auto dealer in a program that is if I service my car with them I get tires when they meet the required wear. Some time ago I had to replace one tire due to a road hazard and now only 3 tires meet the wear requirement. Now I have asked several tire retailers about this and received several different replies about the wear amount but all said if the 4th tire has less half wear left it is dangerous not to replace the 4th tire. The 4th tire has been measured at 6/32 wear left and I?m told that is less than half but I/m not getting the 4th tire replaced. I have has a discussion with them but they will not replace the 4th tire. What is NHTSA reading about this tire replacement? is this a dangerous action to take and would NHTSA take any action with the appropriate dealer?.

6 Tire problem of the 2007 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 05/14/2013

I own a 2007 Nissan Maxima. Coming home from a trip that lasted approximately 60 miles, I turned onto my street after about another mile I went over a bump, and it sounded like I had scrapped the bottom of the vehicle. I continued on. Within the next 500 feet or so the car began to pull extremely hard to the right. Knowing what a tire failure feels like, I immediately pulled over and got out. To my amazement my right rear tire had lost all air within seconds. If I had been traveling on the highway like I previously stated I would have spun out. After changing the tire I examined the flat and observed that the tire had two pieces of tread "torn" out of the tire in two separate locations. The first would be at approximately 2 o'clock and the second at 9 o'clock. Not directly parallel to each other. The tire had not been worn on the inside where the tread failed, so I deemed it not to be a chassis problem with the car. I have photos of the tire and still have it at this moment.

Failure Date: 12/25/2011

Bought a 2009 Nissan Maxima on 4/21/2011, it had 25206 miles on it, I currently have 37000 miles on it. I have had to add air to my tires at least once a week, on christmas day I came out to a flat tire, removed wheel and noticed the inside wall had several "spider web" cracks on it, one was bad enough to leak air. I would like to now if anyone else has reported this problem?.

12 Tire problem of the 2005 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 01/17/2009

I own a 2005 Nissan Maxima: in January ,2009 my son was driving back from lubbock texas to portales nm. This is 110 miles. My tire a goodyear rs-a 245/45 r18 tire went flat my son got out of the car and changed it in pitch dark. Not taking the time to look at the tire in depth. He drove home to find in the later part of his trip he did not have any breaks. He was driving at highway speeds. The inside of the tires beading came completely out. It looked like it had 45 wires hanging out of the tire. These wires were in and out of the tire and I could literally pick it up by the wires. The wires (beading) wrapped around my break lines and cut them completely in half, in addition pulling the steal mount for the break line all the way through the cars mount. This could have killed my son, passengers, as well as oncoming traffic. This same situation happened to me three weeks prior. This time the tire came apart from the inside where you cant see it, but the beading did not come out. When my sons situation happened, it took (my tire, $266. 00), (wheel $800. 00) (break lines $???. 00) damage to the internal mount and vessel $ ???. 00 of my car. All out! this tire is dangerous and needs to be completely taken off the market. There are so many incidences with this particular tire and it is extremely deadly! I am pleading with NHTSA to stop production of this tire and have a full recall on it. One persons life is not worth this dangerous tire!.

15 Tire problem of the 2004 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 12/18/2008

My 04 Maxima currently has just over 50,000 miles on it. I have noticed some hard shifts over the past few months, but they had been very intermittent. The other day however I noticed the service engine soon light was on and when accelerating from a stop I realized that I barely had any power! after engine shut off the acceleration was back to normal. The service engine soon light remained on. The code was pulled and reset. P 0797 pressure control solenoid, stuck on. Repair cost approximately 4000 dollars. Problem outstanding. The struts have also gone bad. Problem outstanding. I have also had to replace the battery. The front right rotor is warped and causes steering wheel shim when downhill braking. Problem outstanding. My car had begun to idle very low twice and actually died once. Problem outstanding. A weld on the heat shield of the catalytic converter has come loose and causes a noticeable vibration when accelerating when cold. This subsides once it's heated up probably due to metal expansion. Problem outstanding. I have also replaced the tires due too bad alignment camber on some and also castor I believe it was wearing the tires unevenly.

24 Tire problem of the 2004 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 05/30/2007

I own a 2004 Nissan Maxima. I had the tires replaced at around 30,000 miles due to "cupping" on the tires. They wore terribly and were making a terrible noise. I then had to have the right front strut and bearings replaced at 31,000 miles and now at 47,000 miles my left front strut and bearings needs replacing, which will cost me nearly $400. 00. The car has a bad vibration in the steering wheel at 50-60 miles per hour and when braking. Now, my new set of tires have worn badly and are so noisy that you cannot hold a normal conversation at freeway speed. I love the look of the car, but I cannot wait to get rid of it! it is obviously not safe if the suspension bounces you all over the road! additionally, I have had to have the heat shield replaced once and now it needs it again. The power outlets are in the worst possible places I have ever seen. Nissan. . . . Please do something about this before your loyal customers pay for this flaw!.

Failure Date: 08/24/2005

2004 Nissan Maxima that has continental, contitouring , tire, size p225/55/r17 leaked air almost to the point of being flat. This happens over a period of time, such as two weeks, these leaks were slow, and occurred four tires. Consumer was driving about 35 mph in a school zone and heard a pop, pulled ove,r and the right rear tire was completely flat on the rim. This occurred near a gas station ,and consumer drove there to gas station to put air in the tire, but the air system at the gas station would not work. Called family member to bring an air piggy and the tire would not inflate. Waited for tire dealer to open because this was early in the morning and they could not inflate the tire. Upon further inspection they note tha t inside of the tire running vertically from the rim to the top of the tire had a split. Due to tread separation this could not be repaired , and a new tire would have to be purchased. Contacted dealer, who suggested discussing this matter with tire manufacturer. Contacted continental, who said consumer would have to taketire to an authorized service center which was a considerable drive for inspection of the tire. Called a second time, and they said they would send out a call tag and request tires back. Consumer had all four tires replaced with a different brand and paid for this out of pocket. Have not sent those tires to continental at this time.
