1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2021

My alternator has failed and I see where there was a recall on 2004 Nissan Murano for alternator/generator but its not showing a recall when I put my VIN in but it's doing exactly what it describes.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2021

My vehicle has been named in 4 recalls but my VIN number isn't included in any of them when I take it into the Nissan dealership even though every recall that has been reported is what has been either a recurring issue with my vehicle or something that has been starting to show some symptoms.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2019

My car doesn't have automatic door locks, for 3 times now my doors have locked while running and the doors were closed. My car locked my grandson, which is 6 years old in, and the last time was yesterday on 10/09/2019. My husband had to break the window to get in the car. This is a serious hazard. My doors aren't suppose to be locking themselves. I need answers for this situation.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2019

The car will stutter at random even if filled with a full tank. Smell of burning and check engine light comes on. Car starts to violently shake. This is horrible as I drive with my toddler. I have been now reading this is common and I'm lucky I have not had an accent by my car stalling.

When you running the car suddenly the car lost the power and stop.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2016

My vehicle was in motion on the highway going about 50mph, when suddenly traffic came to a halt, when I pushed on the accelerator, there seem to be loss power and acceleration which is very dangerous, I had my 3 kids and grandchild in the vehicle with me. As I pushed the accelerator to the floor nothing happened the car wouldn't move, good thing a semi-truck wasn't behind me, we all would have been dead. This is scared me and my family. After waiting about 2 or more minutes the car junked and lunged at a high speed I could have ran into the back of another vehicle. This is beginning to happen more frequent now maybe 3-4 days or more out the week. Stalling and loss of power (no response) while in traffic; is in deed a big factor to have this matter looked into. I've seen numerous complaints regarding the same incident my family and I experienced. There should be a recall regarding this matter. In addition, to that the actuators on both passenger doors (front and back) doesn't work, it has to be locked manually. Also, the hatch lock doesn't lock the handle gets stuck.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2016

All occurrences took place when vehicle was stationary. I bought the vehicle less than two weeks ago, used, from the previous owner who had it for nine years. She supposedly kept up with all the maintenance and appears to have taken real good care of it. Everything was fine until about three days ago when on a couple of occasions I parked and locked the vehicle and came back hours later to discover the front windows were down about 3 inches. . . Weird. So when I got to work this morning I engaged the window lock button. Then this afternoon I came out after work to discover the windows were both all the way down. I drove home and parked in the garage and rolled up the windows and left the key in the console. An hour later, got ready to leave and the windows were back down, and doors were locked. I reached in and unlocked the door, and when I opened it the alarm went off! OH, forgot to mention that the key fob doesn't work, in spite of replacing the battery this week, so the panic button doesn't work. Got in and started the engine and the alarm is still going off!! put it into gear and back into park and it's still going off. Got out and headed into the house (keys in hand this time) and the alarm randomly stopped. . . Hmm. Okay, so I went back around and opened the door (thinking I could leave now) and the alarm started sounding again. . . What the heck!.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2015

My 2004 Murano had a lot of stalling and stopping, problems with accelerating the car. It stop on multiple occasions. Fluid leaking, from engine and fuel tank, and steering column. Power steering is rigid, and locks, and car stops when turning. The windows went up and down uncontrollable. Power control panel , did not function. Nissan insisted that vehicle is old. I think the car is possessed. All of theses things occurred while I was in motion driving the car on highway, the roads, stationery, and especially turning, and trying to accelerate the car, and it would then completely turn off, Nissan refuses to acknowledge any thing is wrong. They stated what do you expect after buying a car this old. I just want to make sure my car is safe by your standards not theirs. After receiving my car from Nissan it was even worse, I brought the same issues to them after paying $5200 of what they said were repairs. Thanks.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

The door locks work intermittently. I thought the doors were locked and when I come back they are unlocked. I checked it a few times and the lock moves only half-way leaving the door(s) unlocked intermittently. It looks like it's a voltage/electric problem since it's intermittent. I had all the fusses checked at the Nissan dealership and it didn't fix the problem. I'm seeing complaints all over the web regarding this problem with actuators in Nissan vehicles.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2014

Trunk hatch is locked and will not open. Doors do not always lock when lock button is pushed.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2013

The driver's seat adjustments are no longer working. It appears the track on the left of the driver's side seat is stuck therefore the seat is stuck in a slight sideways position.

17 Electrical System problem

The driver power door lock actuator failed first and few days ago the passenger side, rear power door lock actuator failed.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2012

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 15 mph, the vehicle started to loose power and when the accelerator pedal was depressed, it did not respond. The steering ability became difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was powered off and restarted and the vehicle resumed to normal. In addition, all the warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was informed that the vehicle was repaired under a manufacturers recall related to the failure in 2005. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure occurred eighteen times. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2012

All four power door lock actuators are bad in the car. This is preventing the doors from properly locking and unlocking. This is a major safety issue for the car. I have looked online and there are hundreds of complaints about door lock actuators on 2004 Muranos.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

There are three ways to lock and unlock the doors; using the remote, using the key and using the interior locks. The remote does not lock nor unlock the driver's nor the front passenger doors. The key, which can only be used in the driver's door lock, will lock and unlock all doors except the front passenger side door. The interior locking mechanism located on the drivers door will not unlock nor lock the front driver's nor the passenger side doors. At this time the only way to unlock the driver's and the front passenger side doors is to reach over and use the interior handle. Once the front doors are unlocked the only way to lock them is to manually move the locking switch to the locked position. This problem seems to have affected hundreds if not thousands of Nissan Murano's the inability to lock and unlock the front doors is critical to the safety of the vehicle's occupants. The driver cannot lock the front doors, which is paramount when a child is riding in the car. Not locking the doors can be critical in the event of a motor vehicle accident. It is a well known fact that the safest place to be in the event of an accident is in the car and the inability of the driver to insure that all doors are locked is critical to everyone's safety. Having an unlocked door open in a crash increases the probability that an occupant will be ejected from a car thereby increasing injuries and the probability of death; not knowing that all doors are locked results in unnecessary risk.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

The door lock actuator does not work when the button is pushed from the inside. The lever must be moved manually. This poses a safety issue due to the fact that in an emergency the door stays locked disallowing a quick exit .

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2011

A recurring check engine light problem, hesitation on acceleration after sitting in traffic for a while, poor idling, and the even a complete shutoff while my girlfriend was driving and my two daughters as passengers. The cars has completed shutoff twice while driving. Once while turning left at low speed and the other one while on the highway.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2010

My wife and I went out to go to an appointment when the remote access key didn't work. We tried to use our key and that failed to work as well. Basically, we were locked out of our car with no way to gain access to our vehicle. Two hours later I came out and the driver side door was open. Remember, two hours ago we were locked out and now only the driver side door is unlocked without me doing anything to it. So I test the door with the manual key to see if it all works and by some miracle it does. But once again, the remote key doesn't work. The wife took it apart and re-assembled it and then it worked. This feels like it will become a huge problem and I've read reports of the same category of Nissan Murano failures and am afraid of an emergency where the door needs to be opened and it can't be in a reliable time frame.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2010

Door locks and gas lock do not work or work intermittently. There wan an occasion where I had to tow the car because I had no gasoline and was not able to open the gas door. The mechanic fix it temporarily. The second time it happened I bent the gas door and had to replace the door. I fix that problem by deactivating the gas door lock.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2010

Doors lock malfunction all the time.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

Electronic door lock failure, 2004 Nissan Murano se. Whether activated from the driver's door button or by remote fob and whether for lock or unlock, electromechanical response at each affected door is too weak, requiring manual lock/unlock. Problem is not consistent at each door although all 4 doors have not worked simultaneously in 2-3 yrs. Driver's door is the only one which has not been affected so far.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2005

While driving, brake warning lamp suddenly came on. Accelerator stopped responding. Then eventually, the engine died.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2004

The engine stalled at highway speeds of 35 mph. No warning lights had come on, prior to the engine stalling. The heater motor blower stopped working and about 20 minutes later, the engine stalled. The steering was lost. As soon as the vehicle had come to a stop, the consumer shifted the gear into park and the engine restarted. The problem could not be duplicated.
