1 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2014

I could not move my power seat to drive and s terrified every time I drive. For no reason my seat stopped going forward and back and then it would swivel on the track. . The next day I brought the car to my mechanic and he verified I needed a new power seat. I called Nissan corp that night and voiced my concern and I was given a case number, but was told I had to go to a Nissan dealership. I made the for the next day. Took the car in to lokey Nissan on 7/01/04. They verified I needed a lower seat assembly and a finisher assembly (which holds the wires). The parts are $1300. And labor $395. 89. I then called April back (as she instructed) @ Nissan 1-800-647-7261 (4 or 5 times) and all I got was her recording. The case # 14862870 and April is @ 457248. I was able to find a used part and my mechanic could install it, but after reading on the internet how many moreno owner's this happen's to, I am appalled. There should definitely be a recall on these cars. Nissan knew about the problem on 04 - 06 moreno's faulty front power seat and or improper forward/backward movement. And special bulletins went out to all technical service personnel to amend and incorporate ntb-5-056 into their service manuals. My husband and I are both on disability and do not have $1600. To fix Nissan's mistake. I feel I am in danger every time I get behind the wheel and to make matters worse, Nissan won't return my phone calls, when they are the ones who told me to go to the dealership. . . Big waste of time and get a service record going. So in all: Nissan corp knows that the seat slide motor or gear assembly needs to replaced for any reason, that the power seat has voltage to it, but will not move forward or backward. The seat also moves while driving it because the seat won't stay on the track: it becomes crooked on the seat tracks.

2 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that the lift bar on the driver's front power seat fractured and the seat became wobbly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

3 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2011

Drivers side power seat just went "pop" and totally is loose and leaning to one side while driving. Nissan has had several complaints about this. . Vehicle is just 1000 miles out of warranty and we also filed a case with Nissan and they refuse to pay the $508 charge to fix this.

4 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2010

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano with just over 80,000 miles with power seats. The driver's side seat bracket is broken and I am told it will cost nearly $1000 to repair. This is a safety issue and a manufacturer's defect. My vehicle was not involved in a collision or other event that would cause the seat to fail.

5 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2010

Seat bracket for 2005 Nissan Murano power front seat broke causing instability for driver when driving. There were no deaths or injuries, but driving in such an unstable condition in the mountainous roads of east tennessee could very easily result in death or dismemberment.

6 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2010

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano awd. The power drivers seat track has broken for no apparent reason. The problem seems to be on the left side and when I turnto the left, the seat raises up and gives you the feeling that you might tip out of the seat. The seat is also loose when entering or existing the vehicle. When I took it to the dealer to be fixed, they informed me that it would cost over $800 to fix and that it was not covered under and extended warranty. Due to the extreme cost, I cannot afford to have this fixed.

7 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2010

I've been having a problem with the power driver's seat in my 2005 Nissan Murano, the driver's side power seat just started to tilt to one side, and also forward. It is loose and will tilt forward/backward when I decelerate/accelerates. According to my mechanic, it's sort of structural failure with the anchor of the left rear side of the power driver seat.

8 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2009

Nissan Murano 2005 : drivers power seat. The drive gear (made of plastic) is stripped by the worm gear (metal). I have spoken with my dealer and Nissan north America. They will not assist me with the $1000. 00 repair. If Nissan would supply just the drive gear this repair could be made easily. They do not have the part. You must buy the entire seat track.

9 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2009

A bracket on the driver's side power seat has broken, and the seat tilts to one side and also forward. It is loose and will move forward several inches when I decelerate/accelerate or get in/out of the vehicle. The driver's seat is now very loose. The seat moves upon exit/entering the car and while driving. A small support bracket is broken and Nissan claims the whole seat assembly needs to be changed, cost $1000+. It seems to me that seat bracket should not break under normal conditions and I was very surprised when I looked around online and found many people with the same problem. Have the drivers seat move around while the car is moving seems to me like a serious safety problem.

10 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2009

2005 Nissan Murano: I am having a problem with the driver's power seat. It adjusts itself randomly & makes clicking noises, while I am driving. It mainly slides back to the farthest position, so it is very hard to touch the brake & accelerator pedals. This has been intermittently occurring for approx 7 days. As of today, the back of the seat is now randomly moving forward while I am driving, so that it is in effect folding me in half! this seems like a very dangerous way to drive. . Previous to the seat randomly moving on a regular basis (since the past week), the seat felt like it was tilted slightly to one side. At first the problem was that the seat sometimes would slip out of position into another position. This went on for about 2 or so weeks before the clicking noises & random repositioning started happening. I would like the NHTSA to check into this seat failure as I feel that it is a dangerous problem. The seat moves back randomly when I'm driving & for a shorter person this could cause an accident as they may not even be able to touch the pedals in order to pull over. Does this warrant a safety recall??.

11 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2009

Front power seat of my 2005 Murano, sl with 47,000 miles. Seat broke and Nissan will not cover the expense to repair. This is unsafe.

12 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2009

Rear bracket broke on driver's side power seat while driving. Seat now leans to the extreme left and rearward. Seat is extremely loose. Moves at the slightest turn, acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle. Afraid to drive.

13 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2009

A 2005 Nissan Murano and the support linkage for the power seat has broke . It lists to the left. As far as I can tell, it is a break in the connection of the back support. Power features work fine. Sounds like Nissan has a design problem.

14 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2009

Drivers side power seat broken.

15 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2008

The metal frame on the power drivers seat has broken, causing a rocking-chair affect. While this is only moderately dangerous as it is now, the other pair of welds (assuming they are welds) on the seat frame can snap causing the seat to break free from the frame. A quick search on the internet finds that there are numerous Nissan Murano owners w/ the same issue. . And Nissan dealerships are not repairing under warranty, but making "good will adjustments" if the individual dealership is so inclined. In my opinion this is a significant safety risk and needs to be looked into. Thanks.

16 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2008

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano w/ power driver seat. I have found that the seat attach point on the left rear is broken due to a bad design. The seat is attached to the seat rail with approx. A 1 inch x 1/2 inch x. 060 thick sheet metal part. There is a 90 degree bend at this point, and this is where it has broken. I have taken picture of the area in question, and can send if needed. With the seat not properly attached to the seat rail and the car, it now is a safety issue. If this part breaks with normal use, I wonder what would happen in a moderate crash. How much more bodily injury is their when the seat is no longer attached to the car during the course of a accident viewing auto web sites, I see this is a common problem. I believe that Nissan should issue a recall for this defect. . I hope you can help cameron j. Brewer.

17 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2008

My driver's side seat no longer operates with the powered seat adjustments, and is stuck in one position. At first, it would veer to the right, but now is stuck in one position that is not the best position for me, causing me concern for my safety on the road. When I had it looked at the Nissan dealership, they informed me that the cost would be @ $1000. As I researched on-line, I see several complaints about the very same thing. This needs to be recalled and fixed to avoid accidents.

18 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2008

On my 2005 Nissan Murano the support linkage for the power seat has broke . Seats do not break in accidents and this seat broke during normal use. Seats in cars never become disconnected form the vehicle.

19 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2008

A bracket on the driver's side power seat has broken, and the seat tilts to one side and also forward. It is loose and will move forward several inches when I decelerate/accelerate or get in/out of the vehicle. This problem has occurred under normal use. The vehicle has not been in an accident nor anything other than ordinary driving on streets. The broken bracket appears to be very small for a weight-bearing piece. This piece would certainly not survive a crash. If still intact, the piece would certainly break during a crash. This could cause the driver's seat to move dangerously close to the steering wheel, allowing the driver to possibly impact the steering wheel or windshield. I have not repaired this yet, as I need to decide what route to take. Apparently the dealership charges about $1,000 to repair/replace the offending part, but they will replace it with the same fragile part. It appears that contacting a professional welder may be a better choice, as they can weld the pieces together and strengthen the pieces too.

20 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2008

The track assembly in the driver's side power seat failed. When engaged the motor assembly would not move forward or backward but instead would cause the entire seat to swivel to the right. Prior the failure there was a grinding noise. Any attempt to shift the position of the seat while driving could have caused a serious problem.

21 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2008

Back in February, 2008, the driver's seat on my 2005 Murano malfunctioned--specifically, the seat was not loose, but all of a sudden would not slide forward on the right side thereby creating a grinding noise and a slight and unnatural swivel of the seat to the left. I took it to the dealership for repair. Part number 87450-ca684 was the "offending" part per my invoice. All other power seat features were operating fine. I asked the service manager what would cause this and he said he didn't know, but they had seen 5 such incidents in the past 2 months. This got me wondering if this was a widespread issue. So, I found a Nissan online club of owners reporting seat failures. I have been tracking this for months and now have gotten to the point where I believe this is a serious issue that deserves reporting and NHTSA attention. Fortunately, my repair was covered under my extended warranty sans a $50 deductible. But, consistent with all these postings, the service manager indicated this is typically a $700 repair. . 22 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2008

The power seat for the driver has a stripped screw causing the whole seat to move left when trying to move forward. Dealer said whole new seat assembly is needed.

23 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2008

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano sl awd and earlier this year the drivers seat has started to rock back and forth. My wife is 5'2 and I am 6'2 so there is a need to move the power seat regularly. The seat now sits slightly left to right or right to left. The Nissan Murano forum has indicated that this has been a problem from the 2003 edition and still continues to be. My car is out of warranty so it would be a $1000 repair out of pocket. This is an unsafe situation and apparently caused by the seat base metal breaking. There are great pictures of this on the forum site. Nissan hasn't recalled this and it is obviously a safety concern.

24 Front Seat Power Adjust problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

My power seat on my 2005 Nissan Murano came loose and lifts up when turning a corner. The dealer where I bought the new car said the entire power seat bracket is broken and is unsafe. The cost to repair it is $1,000. 00. My car is just out of warranty, but I feel they should cover this safety issue. They refused. I feel this repair should be covered because it is obviously a manufacturing defect.
