1 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2019

Not sure when it happened but seat frame broke, now I wobble back and for while driving. . No recall for this. Ridiculous!!! scary as hell . . . Not only that, I have like 100's of stories copied here of the exact same thing. I want to know why Nissan has not recalled the frame for this vehicle? I will never buy a Nissan again!!!!.

2 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2019

Seat support broken in drivers seat. Under the driver's seat, left rear support bracket is broken. I was driving making a 30 degree right hand turn moving at about 15 - 20 miles an hour.

3 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2019

Seat support is broken on the drivers side causing the driver my son, to shift to the left while driving the car. A dealer sold this used car as is and covered a wooden block that supported the seat with cloth to disguise the problem. After looking at this site I found over 700 complaints. The seat is compromised and it's a manufacturers safety defect. If an accident were to occur the driver could be thrown into the dash or worst because of a already broken driver seat support. Why should consumers not be made aware of this safety concern and the manufacture required to do a proper fix? is the seat belt designed to hold the passenger and the seat in place during an accident?.

4 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2018

The braket on the driver seat broke and the seat is lopsideed and can not drive the car, are the repairs coverd by the manufacturer?.

5 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2018

Broken seat frame - drivers seat (left rear) while driving down the highway, I heard a pop, the next think I knew the seat & I was leaning to the left wobbling back and fourth. Car should be recalled. .

6 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2016

Front driver's side seat bracket is broken and seat wobbles. The seat could break free in an accident and cause serious injury. This is a safety-related issue and Nissan should do the right thing by issuing a recall.

7 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2016

My Murano drivers side seat broke off the lower left metal part, the seat now is not welded together properly and its now unattached and moves around as I drive. I have read about others having the same problem. I have never seen this happen to other vehicles only Nissan. They really need to take care of this issue since is very expensive to be fixed! I just happen to get in the vehicle and out of no where when I sat down I just felt the seat crack and lower to one side. I am 140lbs. Not very big and petite, so this is hard to understand why it would break like this.

8 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2015

Front driver side seat is broken. It leans to the left . This is so dangerous . Such a safety hazard. And Nissan corporate was no help. Told me I had to pay for a diagnose test. And have them send it in and they would look at it. And would get back to me. . Not a happy person.

9 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2015

*** driver seat bolt broken and unstable *** temperature gauge needle moves up toward "overheat" when cruising at 50mph *** transmission stalled and had to be replaced after 60k miles {odometer reading].

10 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

The drivers metal seat bracket under the seat snapped when getting in my car. The seat is wobbly and moves with braking or accelerating. I was told it was not part of a recall and would cost $1500. 00 to buy a new bracket. A whole new seat would be $5000. 00. There are many complaints from owners of this model about the front seat bracket breaking. If I was in an accident my seat would definitely come loose from my car with me in the seat. I can't afford a $1500 bracket. Why would that bracket cost that much?.

11 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2015

Seat broke, why is this there no recall on a seat breaking? it's the driver seat! how would you like your seat in you car just to drop to one side for no reason? Nissan should not skimp on something that you sit in while driving!.

12 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2015

I bought the car used in 2010 and by 2011 the seat had locked in position and brought it in to a Nissan dealership to get it repaired since I bought the extended warranty. I was told that the problem was not covered in the warranty but they would fix it for $1300 and I chose at that time not to get it fixed, not knowing that there was a defect in the seat frame design by Nissan. Upon research later, I found out that year model and make had a defective seat frame and it would eventually break on one side. Sometime in 2013 it sure enough broke and when I went to renew my inspection sticker last week I was told that I was rejected because of the seat movement. I called Nissan consumer affairs and asked if they could help me out in any way to help fix the seat frame (which is now estimated at over $1500 to fix) because it is their faulty design, and was denied any assistance what so ever. So now I have a broken seat and an out of date inspection sticker and Nissan will not offer me any assistance for the cost of repair and denies any knowledge of any problems with the seat frame for that year model. The man at the inspection sticker place told me it is an unsafe driving condition driving like it is which is why he would not give me the inspection sticker because when he applies the breaks, the left side of the seat slides forward. How can a automobile dealership as big as Nissan deny this and not offer any help to fix the problem is beyond me. I want to tell this to all Nissan owners and I would not own another Nissan if I got one for free. I do not have the money to get the seat frame repaired and I use the vehicle every day to go to and from work, I am not sure what other options I have other thatn to drive unsafe and with an out of date sticker.

13 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2015

While I was driving the drivers side seat broke the base of the seat, they refuse to replace their defective seats. I can purchase a seat for 1800. 00 plus the cost of installation. Nissan has redesigned the seats to make them stronger.

14 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2015

Seat has broken loose on left side and rocks side to side. I have contacted both the dealer and Nissan corporate and been told the vehicle was out of warrant an therefore they would do nothing.

15 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

Wile driving casually, the seat felt like dislocating off it's track and leaned forward and to the right. I pulled over when possible and observed that the seat is loose on its rear left side and rocks freely towards the front. Electrically it functioned as usual. My garage mechanic (not a Nissan dealership!) checked it and found out the metal frame of the seat is broken. He warned me of keeping driving it and said he could not fix it but will look for a body shop or some one who will. I went online to research it and learned that this is a common well-known safety violation by the manufacture, which unfortunately, or in a unexplained other reason, was never recognized as an official safety recall. I want to add my voice so it will be taken care off. Before more people will be hurt.

16 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2014

Wife was driving on freeway when driver side seat frame broke after doing research this has been a known issue for years not sure why it is not a recall yet. I know 2 other people in my family who this has also happened to. I'm happy nothing happen to wife or son. Go to dealership and they want to charge $800 to $1500 to fix I do not agree with this needs to be a recall not sure if they are waiting for someone to die to make it a recall. Info on this matter is all over the web if you own a Nissan Murano 2003 to 2007 this will happen if it has not already. This seat frame was poorly engineered and Nissan needs to take care of.

17 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2014

The bracket that supports the front seat broke while I was making a right turn. It caused me to swerve, fortunately there was no oncoming traffic. Evidently this is a very common problem for this model.

18 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2014

When my husband got into the driver's seat and started the car, the seat broke. One of the rails is bad and the gear that moves the seat is stripped. This is the second time the seat has broken and after research, it is a common problem. Both times the car was stopped but if we were moving it could have resulted in a crash.

19 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

Seat bracket broke on drivers seat. Nissan dealer said it wasn't their problem. This is a common safety issue with this model car. I've seen hundreds of complaints on this same issue all over the web. I'm contacting the philadelphia inquirer to see if the ntsb holds Nissan accountable or treat this like gm's safety issues.

20 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

Metal bracket holding seat broke on left side rear. Causing seat to lurch to rear and left while driving. Defective metal bar. Snapped off where it attached to left seat frame. No weld. Preliminary research finds hundreds of these complaints on internet. . Read more...

21 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2014

Left rear of drivers seat collapsed while making a right hand turn. This caused me to jerk the steering wheel to the left, almost hitting multiple children who were walking home after getting off the school bus. I only weight 218 lbs and my wife is barely 100 lbs. This seat should not collapse under normal use and normal adult weights. I am sure if I had gotten in an accident the seat would have broken loose and serious injury would have occurred. Nissan is aware of the problem and has done nothing to correct the problem. Nissan wants $1400 dollars for the repair. Nissan placed a rejected inspection sticker on the vehicle due to the broken seat. I can no longer drive the vehicle until the seat is repaired. Youtube has multiple videos of this happening on other Muranos.

22 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

Driver side seat made a pop sound and now seat wobbles. Very irritated with this car. I have had several problems with this car since thanksgiving 2013. Will not purchase another Nissan in my future! with all the complaints with the driver seat breaking, Nissan should step up and send a recall to have the seats replaced! I have seen several complaints with the seats breaking!.

23 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2014

Driver side seat is moving side to side after searching for "loose driver seat Nissan Murano" pages of videos and complaints came up of the seat mount breaking. After looking mine is showing signs of metal fatigue. All the articles show that it is now covered under warranty or recall. Most people quoted 1000$ for repair. Part alone 750$ a lot of people have resorted to taking it to welding shops because of the cost. I don't want this part to break while my wife is driving I can only imagine if she was in the process of turning when it snaps. Can't imagine how such a common problem can be swept under the rug by Nissan. Thank you for your time.

24 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

During driving on freeway, my drivers seat made a loud snap noise, the seat broke ,and dipped back and down to the left. My body was not moving at the time, I was sitting still. It was dangerous because as the seat broke it caused me to turn my drivers wheel and swerve on the freeway, into the next lane !!!!! this is a safety issue and is very dangerous !!!.

25 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2014

As I was driving my vehicle on the highway the seat made a popping noise and collapsed toward the driver side door which in tun also forced my body to lean into the door and caused me to momentarily jerk the steering wheel barely avoiding a collision. The seat is now broken and forces you to sit leaning into the door as there is no longer any support. Every time I turn or if I come to a quick stop the seat bounces like a rubber band making it difficult to safely control the vehicle. I can not imagine that this is a safe way to drive a vehicle and I would like to think it is not the way that the manufacturer tested or intended the vehicle to be operated. I've done a lot of research on the issue and found that that the faulty bracket is extremely common in all the 2003-2008 Nissan Muranos. I also found that Nissan makes a bracket that is much more sturdy and they charge you almost $1000 for the repair. This sounds like they are knowingly allowing their faulty and hazardous parts to be installed at the assembly line instead of using the upgraded bracket that is one solid piece of metal. This should be recalled immediately to avoid any further potential hazards.

26 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2013

The drivers side seat collapsed to the left . After inspection ,discovered the seat weld broke . I contacted Nissan and was told to bring in to a local dealer for inspection . I told the Nissan agent this is an extremely common issue with Murano's from what I have read on the Nissan forums. I will post as to resolution after dealer inspects failed seat weld.

27 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2013

The driver side left weld bracket broke on my seat. No rot or rust. A serious design defect. The seat moves all around and is not secured to the vehicles frame any longer. In an accident would not keep driver safe. How on earth is this not a recalled issue ??!!!! I suppose your waiting for someone to die.

28 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

I was rounding a curve in the road going about 25 mph and my seat track broke! I know this is a common occurance via internet research. This is a major safety hazard! if I were to be in an accident, my seat would fail completely and I'd be badly injured or at worst hurled through the winshield!! this should be a recall!!!! furthermore, I cannot afford to fix the issue. The dealership has quoted me over a thousand dollars!! are you going to wait for a graphic death before you fix this issue. If you google how many people have complained about this, I'm sure you'll see it constitutes a recall!.

29 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2013

I was driving out of my neighborhood when I heard a loud pop under the drivers side chair. I can now lift my entire drivers side seat off of the right side of the track. After I did further research I found this is a common issue with 2003-2009 Muranos. The metal bracket holding the seat onto the track breaks due to the metal being too thin. I have read well over 250 complaints on the same issue with Muranos. Nissan refuses to fix since a "campaign" (I. E. Recall) has not been issues. I was quoted $1000 to fix the issue. This is a safety issue and irresponsible and negligent on Nissan's part to not recall the Muranos. I took my car to 2 Nissan service centers and both managers knew about this issue and said its common problem. One even went so far to call the part "defective" yet Nissan will do nothing about it. I can only assume this defective part is on other seats in the car. It’s a matter of time until a seat breaks and falls off the track while on the highway causing potential deaths. Nissan is negligent and irresponsible. I will not buy another Nissan. They do no stand behind their cars or have their consumer’s best interests in mind. There should be a recall on this issue based solely on safety issues. . Read more...

30 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2013

Nissan Murano 2006 with 80 thousand miles in great condition,no fender benders. Two adult drivers use car . Our weight 175 lbs and 140lbs. While driving on a main street under 40 mph (limit 45) , comming up to a traffic light, I noticed my drivers seat started to bounce while trying to stop. When the seat comes back down it gives a thumping sound. Short time later when I arrived home a shocking feeling came over me after I saw my driver seat bounce loose with only a push of a small finger. I was scared that my life was in danger ,if I had to do an emergency manuver due to a non secure seat even with seat belts. Then I realized I could have placed other people in harms way by having my seat break off and flipping backwards and not being able to reach the brakes. A scarry thought . I would never forgive myself if I harmed some one even to having an oem seat break loose . Please recall or inspect all Murano front seat frames.

31 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2013

Vehicle was traveling at approx. 30 mph when the front driver's seat gave way causing the driver to lean to the left hitting the left front door. Driver was able to maintain control of said vehicle but became alarmed at the sudden nature of the event. It appears that a bracket supporting the seat broke. Internet research and discussions with Nissan customer service (local facility) is very aware of the seat problem. There have been numerous reports of failed brackets with the 2003-2009 Murano. To date, I believe there have been no fatalities caused by the sudden breakage, but in I my humble opinion, it is just a matter of time. I am stunned that there has not been a recall. Nissan should take the initiative and be proactive and have said vehicles fixed.

32 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2013

As I entered my vehicle I noticed that the driver seat was loose and could be easily lifted with one hand. On closer inspection I saw that the welding is broken on the seat frame assembly. I contacted Nissan consumer and twice they informed me that there is nothing they can do about my situation because my warranty has expired. The local dealership quoted $2,476. 68 plus tax to replace the driver side seat slide assembly and adjuster, along with the replacement of the plastic side finishers and Nissan refuses to even consider offering assistance in payment. Right now I'm driving with a piece of 2x4 and some screws to hold my seat in one position. This is not a light-hearted matter. Nissan knows they are negligent and refuse to issue a recall on these seats. My most precious cargo is my 3 yr. Old granddaughter. Every time I buckle her in her car seat, I pray to god that there will not be a collision of any kind. This matter needs to be addressed now - not after an accident and/or death caused by the seat coming completely apart and me not being able to stop the car safely. My family does not want compensation following my granddaughter and/or I being hospitalized or killed. We need this matter to be addressed immediately for the safety of all drivers/passengers of this make and model car.

33 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2013

There was a popping noise under my seat and then all of a sudden the driver's seat sagged to the back and left towards the drivers side door. I got out of the car and checked the seat. It rocks back and forth now because the bracket that holds the seat is broken. My seat literally falls all the way down to the car floor now. I decided to look this problem up online and I was astounded to see that there are literally thousands of 2006 Nissan Muranos with this exact same problem with the exact same signs and symptoms as what I had. What was even more incredulous to me was the fat that Nissan hasn't put out a recall for this issue and expects the consumer to pay for the seat which apparently is going to cost me up to $1500 for the seat. This is a factory defect and Nissan should put out a recall to fix this problem. It makes the car very hard to drive and can cause the drive to jerk to the left when the seat lunges backwards possibly causing a serious accident. On the news today there was a recall for a child's item that only had 6 complaints and they recalled it. Nissan has had thousands of complaints and nothing.

34 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2013

Drivers side front seat frame broke and the seat is loose and shifts side to side. This occurred when entering the vehicle when the vehicle was parked. This is an obvious defect and Nissan should recall the 2006 Murano for this issue.

35 Seat Broken problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2013

There is a known fact that the drivers sear on the Nissan Murano (2006-2011) has an issue where the drivers seat was poorly constructed and the seat frame snaps around 80,000 miles. My seat broke while driving at about 50 mph down the street, almost making my wife crash the car. I have contacted Nissan, and they offered to pay 50% of the $1600 repair. Not fair to me at all. I have escalated the matter to the regional team, and they offered no more help at all. Reading other customer complaints on the internet, it appears that Nissan isn't admitting to the poor construction of the seat, but has since changed the construction of the seat in recent models to a better construction of the frame where it should not break. This same complaint is all over the internet; several videos have been posted in regards to exact same claims.
