2 Seats problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2022

My drivers side seat started wobbling and it feels dangerous in case of any kind of crash. The other day I pulled into driveway and heard a pop and the side where the buttons are popped out and I cannot find one of them. The part where the buttons for seat adjustment just fell out and I pushed back but still afraid in case of collision. I have read on plenty of forums where the seat frame breaks. I am older and I cant afford to fix it but I am afraid to drive it.

3 Seats problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2021

Normal driving and the seat broke and has been for several years causing instability and oscillation. Recently my steering wheel will not align, brought it to a mechanic that informed me the rear sub-frame is cracked on both sides causing the tires to malign, creating un-even wear on the back tires and a hazard to drive.

4 Seats problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2021

Driver seat has come loose and no longer anchored to the frame.

5 Seats problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2020

The left, driver's side front seat of my 2006 Nissan Murano broke while my son was driving. The support bracket cracked completely, leaving the seat tilted downward several inches on the left side. The car is dangerous to drive in this condition because the seat is bouncing at an odd angle. I have seen many complaints online of the same problem with the Nissan Murano. It is hard to believe that an NHTSA recall has not been issued.

6 Seats problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that the driver's seat fractured due to a failure with the anchor/bracket on the rear left side of the driver's seat. Universal Nissan (12785 s orange blossom trail, orlando, FL 32837, (407) 926-7000) was notified of the failure and an appointment was made for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA action number: pe08065 (seats); however, the vehicle exhibited the same failure as the investigation from NHTSA. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 143,000.

7 Seats problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2017

I've been having a problem with the power driver's seat in my '06 Nissan Murano. It is loose and shifts side to side when I turn corners. I contacted my dealer and they said that the lifter link slide assembly was broken and would need to be replaced at the tune of $600. There is a TSB (technical service bulletin) out on this exact problem. Since my vehicle is out of warranty, Nissan north America has refused to fix it and therefore, own up to this safety issue. I would hate to see what would happen during a crash. I filed a complaint if you have had this same thing happen with your Nissan.

8 Seats problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2017

Broken drivers side (left) seat lifter bracket.

9 Seats problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2016

Driver's side seat frame snapped while getting into my car. This is very dangerous as the seat wobbles and is now not secure to the vehicle. I feel I may become a human missile if I were to get into an accident.

10 Seats problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

The front driver's side seat bracket is broken and the seat sways from side to side. This seems to be a common problem and there should be a recall for this part. The cost is enormous and should not be the burden of the consumer. There should be a recall for this. This is a safety concern.

11 Seats problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2016

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. While driving various speeds, the driver seat began to shift forward. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat frame failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.

12 Seats problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2016

Drivers seat frame has broke during operation multiple times after repair. Most recently on a busy city interstate. Total cost of repairs has been $360. Not only has this been a safety issue while operating the vehicle, but a financial burden as well as comfort issue when driving. Nissan and NHTSA are aware of the defect yet fail to correct the problem or issue a recall.

13 Seats problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2016

Driver seat rear left bracket broke after 134,000 miles.

14 Seats problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2016

Front driver side seat adjuster frame broke while driving. Seat was wobbling like a roller coaster ride from right to left. Contacted nissian customer service and nothing they can to about it. Contacted Nissan of burlingame, CA and the seat adjuster frame part runs $1450. 00-$1600. 00 plus installation. Such a dangerous accident prone defect should be on a recall list. Nissan also said they could not help out financially on any repair work/installation fee's to replace defective seat frame. They were curt and abrupt. I mentioned I had read on car repair complaint sites that many people have had this problem and was told they don't read car repair sites. . . . . . . . .

15 Seats problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2015

Seat suddenly dropped to the drivers side in the vehicle against the door. This sudden change in position caused me to swerve the vehicle nearly missing the car next to me in the other lane. If this seat was to fail completely I could have been thrown backwards in the vehicle losing the ability to press the brake pedal to stop the vehicle and this would have resulted in a crash of the vehicle. This vehicle is used by a 160 pound woman and even though has some age has only 43,000 original miles on the odometer. It is used strictly for pleasure driving on the weekends. This failure occurred while travelling on a highway at highway speed and rounding a corner. Upon reviewing the many many things that have been written up on the internet about how pervasive this problem is there is no reason that a poor design on the seat lifting frame has resulted in a catastrophic failure of this part and Nissan has now redesigned the part to reinforce the seat frame part ot make it more sturdy. This redesign means to me that they recognize there is a problem with the original design and they should be held accountable fo rthe repair not tell consumers they need to pay to have it repaired at a cost of between $1,000 and $2,500. That is ridiculous.

16 Seats problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2015

Driver side seat frame or bracket broken resulting in loose seat that occurred while driving and almost resulted in an accident. The driver side seat frame or bracket on the left side rear part of the frame broke resulting in the seat dropping about 3 inches down on the back left side.

17 Seats problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2015

A bracket under the driver seat left rear side snapped. It occured in the process of pulling off to drive.

18 Seats problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2015

The left side of the driver seat frame has detached from the car floor mount as of approximately four months ago; since then, the severity of the detachment has increased and the seat moves up and down. I have been advised by a local mechanic and Nissan that welding the seat frame to the floor frame will only temporarily fix the issue. Nissan states a new frame is required ($1,200 + labor). Not having my seat correctly attached to the car presents a safety hazard in the event of an auto accident. The frame has detached based on normal wear and tear; there was no abnormal use, in fact the car only has 110,409 miles. Nissan states this is not under warranty or recall. I do not feel I should have to pay ($1,200 + labor) to remedy given the potential safety hazard (if an accident occurs).

19 Seats problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2015

While driving the driver seat dropped down. Upon checking with a mechanic he stated that the support system broke. This caused the seat to drop on one side. From his inspection it appears that the metal used was not strong enough to support normal use. I was not aware of any problem with the seat until it suddenly broke. From what I have read this apparently is a problem with the 2006 Murano sl and Nissan should have warned owners of this possible problem.

20 Seats problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2015

I was driving home from working one evening in my 2006 Nissan Murano at 60 mph. During that drive I heard a noise and that's when half of the seat fell down towards the left side. I drove home rocking from side to side which made my drive home a little painful when I hit a bump.

21 Seats problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

My 2006 Nissan Murano seat frame is broken. I called Nissan and they told me their is nothing they can do. This is a common problem with 2006 Nissan Murano. 1000's of complaints and no recall yet. This is very sad when a company can't stand behind a defective product. God forbid someone gets into an accident. First thing that will happen is me or someone with same problem flying out the window bc of a defective seat frame. I've purchased about 5 Nissans in my life time. Never again will I purchase from Nissan. A defect seat should be a recall.

22 Seats problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2015

Driver seat frame (rear) has broken.

23 Seats problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2015

Driver's seat rocks back and forth as if it's off the track. Very dangerous!.

24 Seats problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 mph, a loud abnormal sound emitted and the drivers side seat bracket fractured. The failure recurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the seat bracket failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate mileage was 97,000. The VIN number was not available. Pam.

25 Seats problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2014

While driving on the freeway at 65 mph we heard a loud pop and the driver seat started sinking to the back left my husband and I got so scared because he could not reach the pedal or the break when this happened. We were in the car with 2 small children. He pushed himself as much as he could practically seating in the air over the seat to reach the pedals to get off the freeway. I can say that we have never experienced something so scary and dangerous we could of crash. I contacted Nissan USA and explained the entire incident and they asked me to take it to the nearest dealership to access the damage. I went in the next day only for them to tell me that it was $1,400 to repair the seat frame. The worst was the mechanic admitting that this happens often in the Nissan Murano. I called them back and they referred me out to a different department just to let me know that it was not in their budget to fix my seat. Like if they were doing me a favor and I was asking for something absurd. This is insanely dangerous and is a manufacture defect on Nissan part. There is so many complains of the same issue and no one is doing anything about it. Nissan is more than aware of the problems if their own people are saying it. We need to start holding them accountable for this issue. Because this is very dangerous and is happening way to many times. If the freeway was busier that day we would of crash, unacceptable!!.

26 Seats problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2014

Driving on i95 and hear a pop and the driver's seat shifted about 5 degrees to the left and the back left corner dropped. When I turned to the right, it felt like the left side of the seat would raise up then drop back down as I completed the turn. I took the car to the bel air (MD) Nissan dealership the following Monday. They found the driver side seat bottom weld had broken causing the seat fame to bend and slit. They installed gusset and welded. Cost $757. 08. I contacted Nissan customer service telling Nissan I thought this was a safety issue and the seat frame on an 8 year old car with less than 81,000 miles should not break unless it was under designed or was defectively made. Nissan assigned a case number of 16837975 and said they would get back to me. They got back to me on 12/17/2014 stating Nissan would not reimburse the cost and Nissan was not responsible because of the infrequence of occurrence but would not tell me the number of occurrences.

27 Seats problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2014

While driving, I heard a pop come from under the driver's seat and the seat collapsed to the left rear. I'm assuming that this is the seat frame issue that hundreds of thousands of Murano owners are complaining about.

28 Seats problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2014

While I was driving my 2006 Nissan Murano there was a big snapping sound and the seat slumped to the rear left. When I make left turns the seat swings up. It was difficult to stay seated in the proper position to correctly handle the vehicle. I have not taken it to be repaired yet but it is apparent something broke on the rear left side of the chair frame. Considering the amount of complaints I have seen from others with this same issue I think it is a disgrace Nissan has not initiated a recall on this problem. It certainly has the potential of causing a major safety incident. Fortunately I was able to keep the vehicle under control when it snapped. This vehicle is my first attempt at a Nissan but the lack of customer care for such a chronic problem says a great deal about the company.

29 Seats problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2014

I started noticing the driver's seat seemed loose when I would sit down on it. It rocks back and forth. It seems that the rear bracket is broken. In researching this prior to taking it into the dealer, it looks like this is a common issue. I just hope I'm not in an accident before I can get this repaired. I'd hate to see what could happen to me if I get rear ended.

30 Seats problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2014

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, the metal frame for the driver's side seat became fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. 32 Seats problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

My seat has dislodged from the base in the back left of the drivers side seat just as many others have as well. I noticed it while driving around town when the seat rocked out of place. I took it to the dealer the next day to have it inspected. They said it was a failure and needed to be welded ($500) or the seat needed replacement ($1500). I asked if this was a common problem, and they responded no. Since it seemed so far beyond a normal issue with a vehicle, I decided to contact Nissan north America to see if there was a recall or if something could be done to help. After a week long investigation, Nissan offered no help. They were vague as to my inquiries if this had happened to other vehicles of the same make. After some further research I came across safecar. Org, and found it to be a common problem. Moreover, to find that an investigation took place already on the issue and was closed with no action is ridiculous and negligent. Does there have to be a major accident for this issue to be taken seriously? I hope the case gets reopened and the issue is prevented going forward.

33 Seats problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2014

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. While driving 30 mph, the driver seat independently moved out of place. The contact speculated that the driver seat corner bracket might have fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

34 Seats problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2014

I was driving and I stop in a red light . A car hit me in the back and I feel the seat went down from one side. Pl ease they need to check this. And also.

Failure Date: 08/11/2014

Driver's seat came loose at base and rocks back and forth. The auto repair shop has said the bracket that holds the seat to the floor is broken.
