The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that after placing the vehicle in park, the driver side seat assembly fractured and an unknown warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat length assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,328.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. While the vehicle was parked, the front driver side seat tilted when occupied because the seat frame fractured. The dealer stated that both front seat assembly links and motors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
While driving, I heard a loud "pop" and the driver's seat slumped back and left, toward the window. It jarred my position in the car, causing my grip to change on the steering wheel. As a result, I veered into an adjacent traffic lane. Thankfully there was not a vehicle in the adjacent lane. I then became preoccupied as to whether the seat was lose and whether it would tilt further, causing a more hazardous situation while driving. I was only a few blocks from home and was then able to better inspect the situation of the faulty seat. The Nissan dealership identified the fault as a broken lifter link assembly.
Purchased my Nissan Murano 2006 in sept 2009. Today, while sitting in mall parking lot, I heard a loud sound and the driver's front seat dropped to the left. Unsure what had happened, I began to drive off and my seat began to shift left and right. Could not stablize at all! very very unsafe drive home!! this is indeed a safety hazard. I cannot drive my vehicle the way it is now. Cannot begin to afford what dealer is asking for repair. What am I to do? the reviews indicate I am not alone on this crucial issue. Nissan should be required to help the Murano owners out. That obviously is a faulty part and the consumer should not be left holding the bag! please provide a remedy for this. Thank you margie miller.
The drivers seat came off the hinges. This could cause a very dangerous situation. How is it even possible that there is no recall for this problem. I did some research, and this is happened to many of their cars. Hope someone CA help with this problem.
I was driving on a neighborhood road and all of a sudden the bracket holding the drivers seat in place broke on the right side. It required me to hold onto the steering wheel to stay straight up to drive. I could feel only one side was broken and was concerned that the other side might break. I contacted Nissan repair and they said yes this happens frequently on Muranos and stated the repair would run around $2000. I took my car to a local repair shop, they too stated they were aware this happens with the Murano and I was able to get it fixed for $500. It was a very dangerous situation, luckily I was close to home and not traveling on the freeway or long distance. This problem needs to be on a re-call.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving the drivers seat bracket had broke. The contact mentioned that the seat shifted and made him move around, and had caused him to swerve into other lanes. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic. The diagnosis was the drivers seat bracket is defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,500, and the current mileage was 89,980. Bt.
Upon sitting in the driver seat, the frame snapped on left side and now rocks back and forth. I loved this car until now. It's a crying shame that a vehicle with very low mileage could have broken. I am not a heavy person nor do I abuse the vehicle. I drive one mile to work on a blacktop road! after reading all the complaints involving this same issue, I believe Nissan should recall these vehicles and make it right with their customers.
I noticed while turning a corner that my seat completely lifted up on one side, I brought it to an auto body shop where they told me it had been previously welded and the weld broke, they rewelded it and now it is broken again, it has been less than a year since it was welded. I fear that in the event of a serious crash I could possibly be ejected from the car, I am not happy that there is nothing being done by Nissan about this, this is my 3rd nissian and the first with a serious problem I would hate to have to buy a new car and have it not be a Nissan because they are not fixing this problem.
Sitting at a traffic light, I heard a loud pop. I couldn't find anything just sitting there. About 20 minutes later, making a turn from a stop sign, as the tires hit the drainage rut in the road, I felt like I was being thrown from my seat. The loud pop was the shearing of a metal structural component on the seat track under the driver's seat. The movement in the seat was so much that, had I been rear ended, my head would hit the frame above the windshield or the windshield itself. Nissan charged me $1700 for the repair, claiming I should not drive the vehicle because it was a safety issue. However, Nissan corporation refuses to cover any cost of the repair. When contacted, they tell me they are unable to answer any questions about the component.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the driver's seat frame became fractured and caused the seat to rock back and forth. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 111,000.
My wife noticed that the driver's seat tilts backwards and rocks. I've also had this occur to me when I get in to drive the car. The seat sinks as a move it back before I drive. When no one is in the seat, you can actually rock the seat back and forth. When I looked under the seat I can see what appears to be a a broken weld in the left-rear portion of the seat frame. I can only imagine what a new seat would cost. How this isn't a safety concern and not part of a recall is perplexing to say the least.
Driver seat bracket is broken. . . . Seems to be a bad part. Causes seat to rock while driving.
The drivers seat bracket, on the back left side of the seat, broke. I got out of the car and heard a loud pop. Seat back down and the drivers seat moved up and down. As I read on line it has happen a lot in the same area it has to be a safety issue.
Driver side seat completely collapsed to the left and back. After further research, discovered the seat frame is broken.
Was sitting in car waiting on someone when my driver seat suddenly broke on the left back corner of the frame. Imagine if I had been driving down the highway and it suddenly just broke. Could have easily have swerved or worse. Nissan said the new seat frame cost over $1,200. 00 plus approx. $300. 00 for labor to replace with a new frame. This is a potentially hazardous situation if someone is driving down the highway when it breaks. Thankfully I was sitting in a parking lot.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the driver seat bracket fractured. The vehicle was taken to independent mechanic and the diagnosed failure of driver seat bracket. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. Lb.
While driving my 8yr old daughter and her friend in the Murano, I went around a long left hand bend going 45 in a 50mph area - the back left bracket under my seat just snapped, which in turn made me lean back and to the left, of course this then effected my steering and for a brief instant pulled me into the opposing lane. Thankfully there was no oncoming traffic and I managed to correct my position on the road. This bracket has since been redesigned on the more recent Murano's to be much stronger and basically looks and works like the other 3 brackets (that don't snap). The bracket that snapped on my car is so thin and flimsy in comparison to the others it's a joke - and so dangerous. I did take my car back to the Nissan dealer in durham nc - but they told me a straight up "no" we are not going to fix or do any kind of recall. (I guess there have to be more complaints/injuries/deaths before a recall is made). Many instances of this can also be found online, but all seem to receive the same answer from Nissan - "no".
I was turning the corner into my driveway and my seat rocked sideways. I immediately took my vehicle to the dealership on Friday, Saturday morning they told me part # 87450+a is broken and cannot be fixed. I believe this is a safety issue. I weigh only 125 pounds, this part must be weak to begin with. If there is a recall because of seatbelts there should be a recall when a seat becomes detached from your vehicle because of a part malfunction as well.
Noticed seat was tilted to left and wobbly. Upon accelerating or making turns the seat would actually rotate slightly toward the back left corner of the seat. Took to dealer in Feb and was told they have replaced "alot of them" and gave us an estimate of $1555. 79 plus tax to repair. When asked about a recall due to potential danger, technician acknowledged danger but simply said his hands were tied because no recall had been made. Gave us number for Nissan consumer affairs but told us to expect a denial, which is exactly what we received. Review of internet complaints and NHTSA website revealed many owners with same problem and some who faced seriously dangerous situations because of it. Thankfully, no one has apparently been hurt yet, but the potential is certainly there. Wanted to add our experience to the public dialog with the hope that Nissan will reconsider its position.
1/14/2014 front drivers seat rear bracket broken - this happen while driving but without an accident. I see that your agency inquired in 2008 but then drop it by 2009. Have you not seen the numerous complaints online with this similar thing happening to much more than 14 people according to your report. Can you reopen this case as it is a known and continuous problem? I called my dealer and the parts department knew the part number for this issue right away and provided it to me. Seat frame #87450ca09a and cost $1000 plus labor to install. The service managers knew of the problem, but said they have only had a few to his knowledge. How many dealers across the country may have the same response and the numbers grow exponentially. I also called the Nissan corp per the dealer at 800-nissan1 ( 800-647-7261). I spoke with[xxx]at ext [xxx]. He said there is no recall on the problem nor were they aware of it! (I find this hard to believe as this problem is known on the internet via forums, youtube and other locations. ) he instructed me to go to the dealer for diagnosis and then the dealer could call them back to inform them of the problem to determine what action if any they would do. After I informed mark I was drafting an email to the ntsb he said he would escalate my case to a supervisor. I tried to speak to a supervisor however they were too busy at the time. My Nissan case is #[xxx]. My VIN is #[xxx]. Can you assist with getting serious answers to this problem and digging into Nissan to address and acknowledge this safety concern? a national recall would be a great start. I have seen recall for safety belts and since this is a drivers concern this should be addressed as well. Thank you for your assistance and consideration. Please advise. While tuning slightly and looking backwards to back out my driveway, heard a loud crack and felt my seat fall backward. I braked and stopped my car. I then felt my seat fall forward. I exited my car and noticed the left front of my drives seat sitting on the flood. And that my airbag indicator had come on. After looking under the seat I noticed that one of the bars under the seat had snapped. I managed to tie some wire around to keep it in place. After taking my car in for servicing,my mechanic informed me that the auto has to be repaired before any state inspection certificate could be the issued. I asked how much this would cost, and after so research I was informed that this has happened to quite a few other owners of the same auto and that this is a Nissan only part which cost $1,0000 for the part. After searching the web I have learned that is is common among the Nissan 2002-2007 and yet Nissan will not recall!.
The metal frame under the driver side broke on the left side causing the seat to move, rock and bounce. This cause distractions and can result in an accident.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that driver's side the seat would rock back and forth. The contact discovered that the driver side seat bracket was broken. The dealer was contacted in reference to the defect but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 72,000.
Driver's seat got off track and no longer works. Can not move the seat and seat is now wobbling.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the front driver's side seat became completely detached from the frame, causing the seat to tilt and not remain in a secure position. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the seat bracket was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.
Back left side of drivers seat bracket snapped while driving. At the time, lucky for me, I did have some recently purchased items placed on the back floorboard area which "lessened" the amount the seat could drop. The items were removed and I was unaware of the extent of damage until further driving. Excessive rocking on turns and on local roads (to include driveways, parking lot entrances, speed bumps etc). Drivers seat stability is without a doubt a safety necessity. Recall this faulty item!!!!!!!! after researching this issue I have found that this is occurring too frequently and it is a safety issue. Class action lawsuit?.
I heard a snap and the driver's seat is now leaning to the left against the driver's door. It rocks when car makes a right turn.
The seat based weld failed on the left rear corner causing an unsafe condition. In researching this issue, there are many, many similar incidents reported on the web. This should be a recall condition as it renders the vehicle unsafe to drive.
I opened the door of my car and sat down in my seat to leave and heard a loud banging sound and my seat fell back. I got out to look, but could not see anything at first. As I drove down the rode my seat would rock back and forth when I hit bumps. It was the rear left side of my driver's seat. When I got home, I got a flashlight and looked under my seat, where I noticed the metal frame was broken in half. I googled this issue where I found that it is very common in Nissan Murano's 2003-2007. My car has 91,000 miles on it.
Driving on the highway and a loud noise happened. Driver seat leans to the left and as you make turns it moves back and fourth. Very dangerous. I do not feel comfortable wearing my seat belt now. If I was to get into a accident the whole seat would go flying with me.
Bought car used in may 2013. August 14 got into car in morning for work and seat felt wobbly. When I left work and got into car seat leaned back and towards drivers door. Immediately drove to mechanics shop and was then told the seat support had broken again. Had been welded once before and weld broke. When looking for a replacement seat read that this has happened so many times that Nissan had made a replacement part that was a solid piece of metal that corrected the "y" shaped bracket that has broken repeatedly on many cars usually @ 75,000 miles. Nissan did not give this piece to the Muranos owners, instead sold it to them. Furious and disappointed with Nissan for not having a recall. People could die if they were driving on the highway and this happened.
Nissan- Murano's 2003-2010. While traveling at apx. 20 mph on straight road with a passenger, we hear loud pop, 2006 Murano. Thereafter, the drivers seat was leaning to the rear and off balance "rock like a rocking chair from side to side, leaning back on one side feeling like seat could just come off completely and out of line in its original configuration". After investigating further, a "defective metal bracing apparatus" that is supposed to support the seat and has failed on many or most of this class. Corporate Nissan tells clients "sorry car is out of warranty", or, not a covered item on limited warranties. Nissan is aware this is an enormous problem, the magnitude of cars brought in, the safety issues, but continued to manufacture, produce, advertise, sell claim "repair" such vehicles. Why not,"a great amount of money is made for every client coming in at their mercy for this defect". This part fails on normal wear and tear and can potentially cause a serious accident if someone is operating this vehicle at a higher speed. The car is not mechanically safe, and Nissan is running a business on excessive charges on customers in the thousands to have " repaired". In addition, the repairs are not guaranteed and the same defective mechanisms that failed originally are used over again for repairs. Manufacturing, sales and repairs continue thereafter for 7 years of money made at the mercy of customers. A recall should be instituted and restitution to all Nissan owners that have or will be affected due to gross negligent liability on part of Nissan north America. The (left rear support) mechanism is defective on drivers seat, and unsuitable to provide any support or withstand normal force. Its made like "tin - foil" to support a driver. An immediate investigation, recall and class action should be instituted on all vehicles of this class!.
The driver's seat suddenly leaned to the left while making a right turn. Fortunately, it was on a side street and the vehicle was not travelling at a high rate of speed. After investigating the problem it was learned that the left side of the link assembly (seat frame) had fractured at the end of a poorly designed bracket. There is obviously an ongoing problem with Nissan (see "murano seat" on the internet) in recognizing that a product recall should issued. However, what is even more frustating is that Nissan has changed the link assembly design, but will not sell that component seperately. They are expecting the consumer to pay in excess of $1,000. 00 to purchase the entire seat frame assembly with the seat motors included! if the NHTSA does not see this as a safety issue - than what is?.
The problem started with a popping sensation in the driver's side seat while driving. Then over a short period of time the driver's seat started a rocking motion. Shortly after that, while driving, the seat just dropped on the left side. When I got home my husband took a look and couldn't find anything off. It continued to rock back and forth. I finally took it to Nissan who looked at it, told me what the problem was the "adjuster assembly, front" needed to be replaced. The cost $ 1350. I checked on line and found hundreds of people with the same problem. And there was no recall. How can that be? I was driving when the seat dropped. I was startled. However, this was not enough to deem the problem severe enough to have a recall. I would think Nissan would just fix it because the problem was so wide spread. We bought this car new, 10 miles, in 2006. And it has been one thing or another. This car has 63,000 miles on it. Serviced it as the manual specified. This car has never been taken on a long road trip. My daily commute to and from work is approximately 15 miles and garaged. For more than 2 years I worked from home so the car was not driven much. We know we will not buy a Nissan or Infiniti again. Nor do we recommend it to anyone we come in contact with.
