Nissan Murano owners have reported 48 problems related to cruise control (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Murano based on all problems reported for the Murano.
Intermittent 'front radar obstruction' warning light and immediate disabling of the predictive forward collision warning, forward emergency braking and cruise control systems. This is a safety issue, particularly for the rapid deceleration that can occur in heavy traffic when using cruise control.

My vehicle had a warning light come on stating "front collision avoidance unavailable". It would shut off the cruise control. Took it into the dealer. They said the vehicle operated as designed. Took it back in several weeks later demanding they fix the problem. Took a test drive with the technician. Problem did not reoccur. I got out. The technician started the car to pull it in the shop and the warning came on. They traced the problem to a sensor. The sensor is not available and is on backorder. In the mean time the cruise does not operate and the front collision avoidance does not work (waiting 5 weeks now). Cannot depend upon the collision avoidance even though they advertise it.
My vehicle recently began displaying a warning that the anti-collision system is not functional and I noticed this also disabled and disengaged the cruise control resulting in sudden deceleration . This problem seems to reset when car is started and reoccurs after 10 to 15 minutes driving. I took the car to a Nissan dealership service dept, and paid for a diagnostic test to source issue. The Nissan service rep told me this was a known issue but I would need to pay out of pocket to fix. I searched on line and on numerous sites found it was a very common and serious defect with a bosch supplied sensor on the radar . This is a driving safety feature I consider essential to my purchase and when suddenly fails disengaging cruise control presents a very dangerous situation to myself and others on the road. Nissan is well aware of the issues and insists I pay a very large repair bill to repair.

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Nissan Murano. While driving with the cruise control activated, a warning indicator illuminated on the speedometer. Suddenly, the cruise control became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to tom naquin Chevrolet Nissan Cadillac (2500 w lexington Ave, elkhart, in 46514) where they stated that they were aware of the failure; however, Nissan had not issued a recall. The vehicle was taken back and forth to the dealer several times. The manufacturer was notified, but did not assist. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 14.

Adaptive cruise control and forward emergency braking (Feb) system becomes spontaneously disabled during driving. This poses a serious issue when actually driving the car. The car is in motion when this happens. The system can only be reset by stopping the car, turning off the ignition and then re-starting the engine.

Initially the problem start with the active cruise control being intermittent. I would be on and then the system randomly error out and disable at highway speeds. Now currently the aeb system is completely not functional at any speed and I suspect the front radar sensor the system uses is faulty. Lots of research online and many many people have the same issue.
The interactive cruise control has panic-braked at highway speeds based on vehicle activity in the lane right or left of me when my lane was clear far ahead. I have almost been rear-ended three times and twice the panic-braking has sparked incidents of road rage against me as the following driver thought I was trying to get rear-ended. There is no way to use cruise control without the interactive feature. You can only set the follow distance at 200', 100' or 50'. I have asked the dealer to deactivate the interactive feature but they can't.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Murano. While the cruise control was activated, the contact increased the speed using the cruise control speed gauge; however, due to the vehicle's forward collision avoidance system, it failed to function. Once the forward collision avoidance system was disengaged, the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was performing as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 60.
Three times in two weeks I had cruise set at 49mph and set intelligent cruise control range to three car lengths ahead of me. All three times the vehicle that was at lease 6-7 car lengths ahead had made a right turn and was out of my lane when suddenly the cruise shuts down and the auto brakes are activated hard enough to lurch me forward in my seat, the third time I almost got rear ended. Took to the dealer who of course couldn't duplicate the issue and was told not to use cruise control around town!!! I have document ion indicating time and dates of occurrences. .
When overriding the cruise set speed, passing a car the transmission frequently slips and jerks while the vehicle loses speed and the engine rpm increases tremendously, later the transmission reengages violently. Dealer has replaced the transmission with same results. The dealer was informed by the factory rep. That it was a computer problem with the intelligent cruise control and could not be corrected. Factory rep. Has not returned my many phone calls to let me know what they intend to do about the problem.
First incident: "slip", "vdc off", and "service engine soon" lights all came on simultaneously as car jerked/hesitated in hov lane of westbound I-66. Car remained running with "slip", "vdc off", and "service engine soon" lights remaining on the rest of the trip home. Second incident (01/30/2011): "service engine soon" light already on. As stop light turned green and began to accelerate from complete stop, "slip" and "vdc off" lights came on and car stalled in the road way. Was able to restart car with some difficulty in middle of the road and continued on. Third incident: "service engine soon" light already on. Car stalled turning into owner driveway, with "slip" and "vdc off" lights coming on. Was able to restart car with some difficulty and pull into driveway. Nissan dealer service department found code p0340: "b1 cam sensor failure". Fp-number: 23731-69j0b. Sensor assembly replaced 02/03/2011. 2nd code p1564: "replace cruise control".

I continue to have episodic loss of power with my 03 Murano. All instances occur after driving at interstate speed for more than 30 minutes at a rate of between 65 -80 mph during times of high heat (100 degrees+). The first incident occurred in June 2010 while driving from phoenix to flagstaff. Going up a long incline, I noticed that my speed was declining (I was using cruise control). Pushing on the accelerator - no response. The car continued to decelerate on it's own as I struggled to both change lines to get to the nonexistent shoulder of the road and avoid getting hit by the semitrucks. Turned off the car for 30 minutes and waited. Turned it back on and the car ran. I have since not used cruise control. They could find nothing wrong; car did same thing immediately after, drove it back to the shop - they could not replicate it! June 2011 - driving from la to phoenix, 105 degrees and 2 hours in to the trip, the car does the same thing. Pulled off the road, waited. Tried again; could go 10 miles before the car began losing power. Towed to a dealer - who could not reproduce the incident. April 2012 - driving from tucson to phoenix; 105 degrees and 72 miles into the trip. Loss of power on the interstate; 1 hr of waiting, and power returns, but I did not trust this car to get me home (nor did I want to be stalled in the middle of an az desert waiting for a tow truck. ) towed to a different Nissan dealer. I have had this car in and had many things done and replaced - the cam sensor, transmission fluid, etc. No one can figure this out and more frustrating is that not one mechanic can replicate this loss of power/lack of response to the accelerator.
I have a 2005 Nissan Murano which is two wheel drive with the ctv transmission. We were coming back from vacation from colorado when the problem started. Several times during the trip when we were coming down a hill with the cruise control on the car would try to maintain the selected speed however if the hill was a little to big it would turn off the cruise control it self. We were just south of san antonio the last time that it had turned off the the cruise. The problem was when it turned off the cruise it also disabled the transmission. It was rather scary as we were driving in rush hour traffic when it did it. We were coming down a hill when the cruise turned it self off and in the process the car started to slow down and we were in the middle lane. All we could do was turn on the right turn signal and hope no one would hit us. Once we had gotten to the shoulder and stopped I had realized the engine was still running but the transmission wouldn't respond. I had put it in park and back into drive but the car wouldn't respond. I figured if I shut the engine off and restarted it that maybe it would reset whatever was wrong. I restarted the engine and the whole dash lit up. One by one the lights had gone out except the "service the engine soon" light. However the transmission worked and has worked since. By the time we had gotten home and gotten an appointment to take it in to a Nissan dealer the light had gone out. We had taken it to the charlie clark Nissan in harlingen texas and they had it for two days and never had a problem with it. The reason they didn't have a problem is that we have no hills as we live in the valley and there are no hills here. They said that they had checked everything that could cause the problem and everything was to specification. So nothing was adjusted , or replaced so as far as I'm concerned the problem is still there and the next time we get into the hill country it will probably act up again.
