2015 Nissan Murano. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle hood and front seats issues. The consumer stated the first issue with the vehicle was a blinding glare that came from the rear of the 3. 5 inch hood when the sun was high. The second area of concern was the trim or more importantly the lack of it on the front driver and passenger seats. The side trim on both seats wrapped around the front of each seat and abruptly ended. The consumer stated when a passenger or driver exited the vehicle, the heel of their shoes would occasionally catch on the un-finished end of the trim. Also, the mechanical equipment that operated the power seats were fully exposed. The consumer stated the only response he ever received from the dealer, was no fault codes found. Updated 02/11/16.

The visor will not stay up. It is dangerous because I am 6'1"and my son is 6'9" and we can't see out of the window when we drive. This is supposedly a common thing with this car. It costs like $300. To fix. It is a safety issue and nissa knows about it and should have to fix it without charge.

2007 Nissan Murano sl. Driver's sun visor rotated down without warning and blocked driver's vision. Nearly caused a collision. Visor rotates on shaft and will not remain in the up position.
The drivers side seat recently started to rocking toward the drivers side door which alerted me to having a problem. The sub rail that hold the seat in broken. This happens every time I get into the car the seat is leaning to the left door. I contacted the dealer in which I purchased the car, they said it is nothing they can do because the warranty is up. I should contact the manufacture Nissan which I have also done .

During a routine service of my 2003 Nissan Murano, which has 33,293 miles on the odometer, the service technician noticed radiator fluid leaking from a hose that is located behind a fan-belt tension pulley. Upon closer inspection it was discovered that the bracket on which the pulley is mounted had failed causing the pulley to be pushed out of alignment and subsequently damaging the hose and belt, resulting in a repair cost of $450. 27. The repair consisted of replacing all the effected components at my expense. As far as I know, the "defective bracket" was replaced with an identical item sharing the same defective qualities. Nissan will not divulge the reason for the brackets failure. My concern if this "pulley devise" had broken off the vehicle due to the failure of the bracket while I was driving at speed, it would have done incalculable damage ,possibly causing me to loose control of the vehicle, probably causing an accident resulting in injury or loss of life. When I asked the service manager what caused the bracket to fail, he said he didn't know, but that I should consider myself fortunate that he discovered the problem when he did. Apparently, other owners were not so fortunate, their cars had to be towed and the damage was much more extensive. After the repairs were completed I asked to be given the defective and damaged parts and now have them in my possession.

2005 Nissan Murano driver's seat bracket broke.
The spring fails in the sun visor of the 2005 Nissan Murano, causing it to fall suddenly downward, suddenly obscuring the driver's view. Nissan refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem, and this should definitely be a recall. Nissan forums indicate that this has been a problem for some time.
I have a new 2008 Murano. I've had this particular problem fixed three times and the part is broken again. I believe it to be a manufacturing defect related to poor design. The charger located on the passenger side of the car below the dashboard pops out of the dash and the wires come out with it. It's very flimsy and poorly designed.

I am not sure of the events leading up to the failure; other than normal usage. The failure is the driver side visor will not stay up. It occurs all of the time. My wife is the primary driver and is able to deal with it easier than I because she is shorter. However when I drive the vehicle I have to move the visor to the side. The consequences are the visor blocks my visual view and my head comes close to hitting it when I drive. If I remove the visor then bright sun prohibits my view. This is a serious concern of mine. I wish to replace it but I am unable to find one online. In searching online I found the following thread. . Read more...
2005 Nissan Murano sun visors drop and do not stay in place. This seems to be a common problem according to various online forums. This poses a safety hazard and will block site of vission if they cant stay in place and blocks vision.
While driving down the highway I could hear what could best be described as a combination click and snap. At the same time I felt the lower left side of the drivers seat move. After further investigation (pictures available), I found that a supporting bracket has sheared in two places. This causes the seat to be very loose. One of the power seat functions will cause the seat to raise up only on the right side.
I have a 2004 Nissan Murano se. At approximately 50,000 miles, the drivers' side sun visor had some sort of internal mechanical failure which makes it fall down in front of my face while driving. My extended warranty company refuses to fix it, claiming it is a "trim" item, and the dealership claims it is no longer their problem as the car isn't under warranty. However, it seems to me that this is a safety item, since every time it falls down, it obscures my view of the roadway. When I searched online, I found many other Nissan Murano owners on online forums complaining of the same issue with their 2003 through 2006 Muranos with relatively low mileage failures of this particular part.

I ran off the left side of a mountain road hitting a large tree with the driver's door, then continued down the hill another ~20 feet slamming into a boulder. When I hit the tree, the driver's door window broke as well as the driver's side rear door. The door was jammed shut. The Nissan was equipped with front side impact airbags and both front and rear head protection airbags. None were deployed. When I hit the boulder, the front passenger airbag deployed, but the driver's front airbag failed to deploy. The pre-tensioner on the driver's seatbelt did not latch resulting in me hitting my upper chest and lower jaw on the steering wheel since the airbag did not deploy. The fuel cut-off device also failed to activate and shut off the engine. After almost a minute, I turned off the engine with the key. I had been knocked unconscious for several seconds. The 2004 Nissan Murano sustained over $25,000 in damage which resulted in it being totaled by my insurance company. The airbag light would illuminate briefly when starting the car prior to the accident. So there was no indication of an airbag malfunction. There was substantial damage to the driver's side of the vehicle as well as the front and undercarriage. My injuries were limited to bruises to my chest and lower jaw. The accident also greatly aggravated a prior injury to my upper back. When I went to go remove my personal belongings from the vehicle, I found that the jack, mounted in the rear floor had come completely out.
I have a 2006 Nissan Murano. Approx. 6 months ago the driver's seat would start squeaking whenever I made any turns or drove over bumps. It sounds like plastic grinding. On 12/12/08, I sat in the seat and the frame broke. The driver's seat now rocks from side to side whenever you turn. This is a safety issue as your feet will come off the gas or break whenever you turn. I went on the web, and there are several public forums from Murano owners complaining about the same issue. Nissan is aware of the problem, but will not take any any action. The local Nissan dealer will only replace the whole seat for $1,200. 00 and not try to fix the root of the problem. If they want you to buy a whole new seat, what is to prevent this from occurring again? unacceptable. Nissan needs to recall this seat, because it is a safety issue.
Failure of rear engine mount on my 2004 Nissan Murano with 40,000 miles. Without replacing said mount safety would come into question. Parts are on order is this a common failure. Should Nissan be held responsible and make good?.
To date, we have had numerous problems with our 2003 Murano. We have replaced the throttle body, motor mount, battery, tcm and transmission. On July 21, 2006 our Murano made a loud noise then quit moving. We had it towed to the dealership where they stated it needed a new tcm. That did not fix the problem so they said we needed a new transmission. We had 64,000 miles. Since then we had the car for one day and took it back for yet a new problem with the rear axle.
Every time I get out of my car, place my feet on the ground, and then touch metal that being the car frame or car door, I get shocked. The only way I do not get shocked is by touching the metal continuously as I place my feet on the ground and then I am able to close the door without getting shocked. The only other time I do not get shocked is when it is raining. This does not happen when I get out of any other car. I am beginning to hate my car because of this. Why is it doing this. I have told the people at the dealership when I get my oil changed and they have no answers and do not seem interested in checking into this.
Recall 2003 Murano, repairs were made, two months later repairs had to be done at owners expense. The fuel tank protector was replaced on 3/22/06, per recall 06v003000. It was replaced again on 5/22/06 at the consumer's expense. The air bag light illuminated. The vehicle had been in water up to the wheels. The tech determined that water got in the floor board area and caused corrosion of in the air bag harness.
The left xenon headlight in the consumer's 2004 Nissan Murano was stolen. ** a thief entered the consumers vehicle via keyhole, popped the keyhole and stole the left light. The consumer felt that the easy entrance was a defect.
Failure of driver side sun visor. Suddenly falls causing a safety issue. Dealer replaced once and second visor also failed.
I have a Nissan Murano 2003 & have had the following problems with it. I was on an online forum & there was a link to this site to list the problems I have had with this vehicle. My car was purchased in Jan. 2003. Since then I have had the following problems: defective alternator defective bose cd player defective battery defective cupholder all the items were fixed or replaced by Nissan under warranty. However I have read that many people have had problems with their alternators but have not reported to a governent agency.
When either of the back or front passenger window is down, the the windows will vibrate loud and shake. The vibration is deafening.
2005 Nissan Murano failing mounting brackets. Consumer would like to know if while crash testing the Nissan Murano if they encountered failure a failure with the driver side mounting brackets. While navigating a left turn, the drivers side seat suddenly titled to the left causing the consumer to lean against the door and bump her head on the drivers side window. The sudden shift also caused an injury to the consumers lower back. The bracket sheared due to what the consumer believed was a manufacturing defect.
