1 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2011 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/15/2021

We purchased the vehicle for my so and the transmission is slipping. Took it to the dealer and they said there is no warranty to cover it. We just found out the vehicle was eligible for an extended warranty, however it's exceeded the 120,000 mile dealer warranty. We're wanting to know if this problem was recalled by Nissan because it is not safe for him to drive it.

2 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2012 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/22/2019

Transmission started slipping. It slips between going 35 miles per hour and over. I just learned that Nissan cvt transmissions have a recall notice and was considered a lemon. They extended the warranty 10 years or 120,000 miles. I just exceed the miles. But Nissan should recalled the transmissins and fixed them.

3 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

Vehicle loses power, inconsistently, when beginning to accelerate from a stopped position, such as at a red light, leading to near-rearend collision, on multiple occasions. Feels like the transmission is slipping during these occasions, and after pumping the accelerator it "kicks back into foward gear. Now I am getting code p1778 (was not getting this code for a long time while the vehicle was manifesting this loss of power).

6 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2009 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/26/2018

My 2009 Nissan Murano which I bought in February 2014 from an authorized Nissan dealer (morrie's minnetonka) had a faulty cvt transmission. After dealing with the problem for almost a year, which includes but not limited to the following: loss of power, transmission jerking, transmission slipping, cvt coolant hose leaks and failures which put my life, my kids life in danger multiple times. I reached out to Nissan USA warranty office numerous times for no avail and ultimately replaced the transmission at a cost of $4,299. Nissan refused to cover the cost and completely ignored my repeated plea for a response. I would like to bring the issue to the NHTSA hoping you will 1) conduct the faulty cvt transmissions of Nissan. I learnt that there are pending legal issues that the company is dealing with as of today and I am happy to hand over all my vehicle inspection documents in order to help the investigation. 2) as I mentioned earlier the cvt transmission issue and sudden stops in the middle of the highway repeatedly put my life, my kids life and other drivers at risk. I am sure other Nissan Murano owners are dealing with the same problem and pursuing this investigation and resolving in a timely manner will protect the public from unnecessary danger caused by the manufacturer. 3) Nissan should take responsibility and cover owners like myself for a mistake that in my opinion big enough to demand a recall.

9 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2009 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/15/2018

Well lets start with the engine stalling and not being able to get on the highway cause the engine lacks the power to even move. The right passenger side air bag light keeps flasing no matter what it does'nt go off. There is a rattling noise coming from the rear right side under the carriage. The left rear tire it lobsided and when it rains the rear of the car feels like its on ice and sways side to side it's an accident waiting to happen the tire sensor light never goes off even if you inflate to proper range and dont get me started on the transmission slipping hope that some one in your company does something about these issues before someone gets seriously hurt you may end up in court fix them before some one gets hurt. . . . All this in motion. Street and highway. Documentation yes the whole car is documentation.

10 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/23/2017

Cvt transmission slipping with no error code, could not tell what the issue was until at a point of failure causing high rpm car slowed down in traffic. Just made it home. Waited until next day to get it to the dealer, have owned lots of Nissans in the past but never one with a cvt transmission even one at 400,000 miles on it. Talked to dealer mechanic and found that this is a common issue with all Nissan vehicles. $5,000 for a new transmission! where's the recall?.

11 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/21/2017

My cvt transmission slips when I first start to drive (cannot go over 20 miles an hour. ) after warming up it starts to respond. When driving on expressway you can feel the transmission slip and the car lags/lunges. Nissan repair cannot get an "error code" from their machine when testing but acknowledges the problem. They refuse to service the car until it codes. Nissan consumer affairs acknowledges the problem and will not provide assistance.

12 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2011 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/23/2015

Transmission slips or shifts hard into gears. Transmission has also just stopped working in the middle of traffic. Gets worse the warmer it is. Slower speeds have the hard shifting and higher speeds it often wont shift to the next higher gear.

13 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/09/2014

During my drive while exiting off the highway. The vehicle jumped/sped up on its own as if I accelerated. Felt like a transmission slip. While approaching my exit, car just died out. I was able to steer off and put on my emergency hazard flashers. I tried to start the car, and it just cranked. I waited approx. Ten minutes and I was able to continue slowly until the car died out again. Experienced some hesitation along the drive home and with no warning, just a check engine light illuminating, the car died again.

14 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/04/2012

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that the vehicle would lose acceleration power sporadically. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The dealer replaced the transmission fluid numerous times but the failure was not corrected. The failure would recur mostly when driving downhill and most recently, the vehicle would stall sporadically. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where a diagnostic was performed, which located the failure as the transmission slipping and low pressure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 197,467.

15 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/08/2011

I own a 2003 Nissan Murano. Last August it began losing power while driving. It is like the car is being thrown into 1st gear. This has happened 12-18 times over the last 4 months. The crazy thing about these incidents is that no warning lights show up on the dash nor does the car give you any codes indicating that anything went wrong. Two months ago I took it to rick hill Nissan dealership and told them what was happening. He had the car a week and drove it 66 miles and couldnt get the car to duplicate what was happening to me. Unfortunately, they wont work on the car unless is has a code showing up telling them what is wrong. This past week, I almost ran over my family as I was waiting on them to come out of a store. I proceeded to drive up to the store to pick them up when the car surged and the engine started racing. I had to slam on the brakes and throw the car in park to get it to stop. The engine and rpm's were still racing and 4,000 rpms. No codes were thrown and no lights on the dash again. 20 minutes later as we were coming home, the car lost power as if the transmission slipped into first gear and we creeped all the home at 5 mph, with me having the pedal to the floor. This time there were codes, but when the car was turned off it would not restart. I had it towed to the dealership and they told me it was the ipdm. 825 dollars for the fix. 51 miles later the car slips again and acts like it is thrown into first gear. No lights, no codes. After reading many complaints on the cvt transmission in the 2003 Murano I have no doubt this is the problem. This defect has put my family in many dangerous situations in the past year. Nissan increased the warranty for this transmission to 120,000 miles. This is not good enough. I took mine in with 118,500 but they said nothing was wrong, because they had no codes showing a problem. Now with 128,000 I am screwed. This needs to be a class action law suit or a recall on the cvt transmission.

16 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/15/2010

Transmission appears to be slipping. Odbii code is p0840, which states transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch a circuit malfunction. Vehicle sometimes runs at 4-5 rpms at 70 mph. Other times you press on the gas and nothing happen. This especially occurs going up hill, when you are stopped at the bottom. If you have a running start, it is not as noticable. Unsafe, to be driven in traffic. Taken to dealership prior to warranty running. No problem was noted. Now that I am 5,000 miles over extended warranty -- extended to 120,000 now I'm told I get the code above. . . . Estimate to repair is $3400.

17 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/15/2009

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. While the contact was driving approximately 25 mph, the transmission began to slip gears. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they were unable to locate the problem. The manufacturer was notified regarding the transmission failure which there were no resolutions. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unavailable.

18 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/22/2008

2004 Murano sl awd with only 29,000 miles when the vehicle was started the service engine soon light, slip light, and vdc light came on and stayed on. Upon pushing the gas pedal, it took a couple seconds for any acceleration to occur. After getting on the highway and pressing the gas pedal again, the acceleration was delayed and would only go up to about 40 mph, but the rpms were extremely high. Every time I try to take off from a stop, it takes awhile for any acceleration to occur. Feels like the transmission is slipping. Vehicle had to be towed and I had to pay for it. Now I'm being told that even with only 29,000 miles, it's not covered under warranty.

19 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano
