8 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2012

Now my vehicle will not pass state inspection due to faulty fuel sending unit - the faulty fuel send unit cause check engine light to stay on and does not properly show fuel level in vehicle if a vehicle can not pass inspection, due to a faulty manufacturer part under voluntary recall info from Nissan website Nissan fuel sending unit warranty extension Nissan has extended the Nissan new vehicle limited warranty for the fuel sending unit on certain Nissan frontier, Pathfinder, and xterra models. Nissan is extending your vehicle's new vehicle limited warranty as it applies to the fuel gauge sending unit from 36 months 36,000 miles to 72 months 72,000 miles. Please note that this is not a safety recall, and there are no safety issues relating to your fuel sending unit shouldn't this be considered a safety recall (faulty fuel gauge) - it definitely has nothing to do with emissions? Nissan has not provided any assistance and has even refused partial compensation for this repair over $350 to fix any advice on how to drivers/consumers like myself?? I will have to foot the billl to be in compliance with ncdmv rules without any recourse against Nissan - failure due to known faulty Nissan part/design seems unfair! I have been chasing this for over a year! last year light was intermittent when it first occurred - now it stays on full time. Can Nissan be forced to make this a safety recall?? since my vehicle will no tpass local saftety.

9 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Many instances of the car jerking, jerking forward when trying to slow down or stop. The rpm reving up to dangerous levels for no reason and trouble driving uphill. My car has become a major safety issue. First the fuel gauge stopped working, which caused me to run out of gas and stalling in the middle of an intersection. Next, my car stalled for no reason while driving, that was repaired, something to do with a relay switch, now the transmission issues, possible radiator failure and the need of a new catalytic convertor in a car with 100k miles. . . . That's insane !!! someone is going to be seriously hurt or killed if they don't fix these vehicles and people don't have thousands of dollars laying around to fix it. So, no food, rent or bills being paid for over a month just to pay for repairs is even more of a hardship to families. Please help us before something happens. Thanks !!!.

2005 Nissan Pathfinder faulty fuel gauge. Showed half full, vehicle stalled in roadway. Gauge fluctuates. Shows full, then empty. Check engine light on. . . Brought to dealer advised 'fuel sender' unit code error. After researching on the internet, discovered a recall for years 2006 and newer. Very concerned the recall #10v-075 did not cover 2005 years. Fuel gauge reading in 2005 Nissan Pathfinder is not working for a second time.

28 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2008

I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder xe 4wd. The vehicle is issuing obd diagnostic trouble code p0463 indicating a faulty fuel level sensor circuit. Doing a quick search online, I was able to determine that there are hundreds of other Pathfinder/x-terra/frontier owners having the exact same issue. Also, some websites indicated that this fault has occurred on previous year's models and was recalled. However, no recall exists for the newer models. This is plainly a design/manufacturing fault which should be repaired by the dealer under recall. A safety issue exists because it causes the fuel gauge to misread potentially leading a driver to become stranded w/o fuel. Also, a potential environmental hazard exists as this is part of the emissions control system on the vehicle. Please advise on how the NHTSA plans to handle this situation. . Read more...

30 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2008

Fuel gauge becomes inaccurate after it reaches half of the tank. For example , I may start off on a full tank and when the gauge reaches halfway, it drops all the way down and I become unaware of what remaining gas is left. As I became more aware of the problems, I started researching and noticed that this is a common problem that owners are having with their Nissan Pathfinder.

31 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2007

I filled my tank up one day and after getting in the vehicle it showed empty on the tank and the service engine light came on. I found out it was a fuel sending unit that went bad. I was at 38,000 miles on the Nissan Pathfinder and the warranty was up conveniently. The bill for fixing this is over $400. I have not fixed it yet because I know there is gas in there and it drives fine, but my wife goes hay wire about it every time she fills up the tank and it still shows empty. I wish Nissan would send a recall or technical service bulletin to get this fixed for free. I sounds like there are many problems of this same nature.

32 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2007

Fuel sending unit failed causing fuel gauge to improperly showing correct fuel levels. Possible chance of running out of fuel due to incorrect readings. And causing the vehicle to stall and cause a dangerous situations on the road or to others safety.

33 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2007

My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder se with 22k miles had the service engine light come on and the dte (distance to empty) indicator began to malfunction. Since the vehicle is still under warranty I took it to a dealer. As with complaint numbers 10200004 and 10176618 the problem was determined to be the fuel level sensor. The dealer replaced the part and it was under warranty.

34 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2007

At 56000 miles my cars computer and fuel gauge decided to malfunction. I filled the car up with gas and immediately the check engine light came on. The fuel gauge will not go below 1/2 tank. After taking it to the dealer it is a fuel sending unit that is not covered under warranty and is a $400 repair. This car is less than 2 years old and now I am having to spend $400 so I can tell if I have gas! updated 12/31/07.

35 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2007

My fuel gauge and miles until empty gauge are both shot. They work once in a while, but most of the time the dte reads 0 and the gas gauge is on e. Also my service engine soon light has been on since this problem started at approximately 60,000 miles. There are 3 complaints the same as this one and being that my 2 year old vehicle is no longer under warranty, I am forced to pay $400 to correct this problem when it is obviously happening to others. Hopefully a recall will come out for this malfunction.
