I has to replace the 2 gaskets on the oil galley gasket in the timing cover. It coat me over 1000 dollars and I had a 2005 Nissan xterra that had 5he same problem and it cost be thousands to fix and I had to junk it because it smoked so much then valve train got f ried. .
In the last 4 years I've replaced emissions system brakes rotors air conditioning system exhaust system radiator and transmission. Car was vibrating shaking cutting out leaking exhaust fumes and emissions system failed.
My Nissan cranks but don't start, don't know was wrong.
Ecm replaced under recall. Radiator/transmission replaced @ 96k miles under "extended warranty. " transmission replaced 2nd time 1 year later. Transmission hoses replaced twice (during same time period). Now - 103k miles - check engine light came vias solenoid valve, bank 2 catalytic converter, & oil pressure sensor switch all need replaced (possibly related to ecm relay issue).
As I began to pull out at an intersection on my way to work I stepped on the gas and my car was barely moving. I nearly got hit by another driver. I called the dealer from which I purchased this vehicle 16 months ago and had it taken to them. They called me with the news that the radiator coolant had leaked into the transmission and caused damage to both parts, therefore both are needing to be replaced. Given the fact that I recently purchased this vehicle and now have to put $5,200 into a fix that should not have occurred I am at a complete loss. I still owe $7,000+ on this vehicle's loan. I feel that Nissan should be responsible for it's faulty manufacturing, however I also feel that the dealer should be held partially responsible as well. I have 4 children and we take this vehicle on vacation, I cannot imagine what would have happened if any one of them would have been in the vehicle with me at the time of this. I am in contact with an attorney and with Nissan, but the dealer will not take any responsibility for selling me this vehicle without truly correcting the problems that were existent.
When I went to put gas in my car, after I got in and started the car the gas gage went all the way to empty and stopped working all together. I couldn't tell how much gas I had in the car and the service engine light was blinking. After about 5 hours it all went back to normal until I put gas in the car again and it did it all over again but this time never started working again. I have been reading on line all the other nissian said with the exact same problem and there are hundreds of them with the exact same issue and the repair is over $700. 00. Too many cars affected with the same issue and you can't drive around not knowing how much gas is in your car they need to do a recall and help pay that huge expense!.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. While driving 50 mph, the fuel gage indicator failed to display the correct fuel level. The vehicle slowed down and was towed to the contact's residence. The dealer diagnosed that the fuel system storage failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000.
Check engine light came on, mechanic said O2 sensors were bad, & replace. Check engine light went off for a few days. Came back on. Then SUV started running roughly, losing power. Vdc/slip light came on, truck was difficult to start, then it cut off in traffic a few days later. Found research on ecm relay. Had it replaced, truck still having difficulty starting. Today it cut off in traffic again. Mechanic said camshaft position sensor cmp bank 1 bad, catalytic converter bank 1 & 2 bad. Fuel system faulty and ignition system faulty. Still paying on truck.
The transmission in my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder has failed. My son was in a very dangerous situation on a busy street and this problem jeopardized his life. The vehicle basically stopped in the middle of a turn onto a busy street. The defective transmission/radiator breakdown is a serious situation and a known issue with these vehicles. My radiator fluid leaked into the transmission and failed. The amount to repair this vehicle and make this a safe vehicle is more than we can afford. . . . Approximately $5300 because the fuel sending unit also failed!! I feel this faulty product should be recalled and necessary repairs made or a reimbursement made by Nissan.
Have problem with cooling system leaking into transmission.
I have been talking to drivers who had the same model. And having the same problem with there gas always on empty even if they always put gas on it . Found out that the problem is the fuel level sensor. I've visited the edmunds. Com and most the complaints are about this. Since its a common problem if its possible to make a recall about this parts thank you.
I'm one of many victims that have endured faulty fuel sending units and inaccurate gas gauges that cause me to run out of gas while driving down the road. With such a widespread problem, it is a pure scam that no recall has been issued. Nissan simply extends the warranty to 72,000 miles, which does nothing to help the thousands of victims with more mileage. Just as they did with the radiator defect that contaminated the transmission, Nissan is getting away with offering help up only to the point when the problem begins to appear. This makes them appear they are doing something, but they are doing nothing for the vast majority of victims. How can you let them get away with this approach? it leaves victims without help, and leaves obviously defective cars on the road. It's dangerous to run out of gas on the side of the road, especially when you live in cold climates and have small children. Help.
My car would not start one morning so I had to call a tow truck to take it to my mechanic, he called me to tell me that the radiator was allowing moisture or water to go into the electrical part of the transmission and the transmission has completely fried. I got a quote of $4000 to $6000 to fix or rebuild it. He then told me there are thousands of articles online about the problem and that since my car was at 109,000 miles there was nothing Nissan would do about fixing it even though there was nothing I did to cause the problem!!! I still owe $8500, as I have only had the car for 2 years, and I sure can't go buy another car. I have 3 small children so now I have no car, can't afford another and Nissan will do nothing to help.
It's the typical Nissan Pathfinder (2005-2011) transmission/radiator failure due to fluids from both devices mixing and causing catastrophic failure of both. Nissan informs me that they certainly understand my problem, which is comforting, but will not pay a dime. Never buy another one.
My wife observed issue with gas or brakes for last couple months. I thought it was brakes and I had just bleed and replaced fluid which helped. On 6/20/13 I made left turn on my home street and transmission did not respond. I was stuck in middle of road and luckily no cars were approaching. At first I thought car stalled and tried to restart but realized the engine was still running. At that moment I knew what it was (failed transmission from cross contamination). I drove directly to reliable Nissan in albuquerque where they verified the bad news. This really proves this is a manufacturing defect. My car has all proper maintenance and only has 54600 miles. I am the original owner. The vehicle looks brand new. I had just talked to both service managers from both the local dealers about my fears about this possibly happening. Even had them check and they said the radiator was ok. I am only 50 days past my 8 years and with only 54600 miles Nissan refuses to provide any good will. I am still stuck paying 2500 dollars. Nissan keeps insisting this is not a safety issue. Loosing propulsion is a safety issue. Even in driving school I was trained that power, can avoid a possible disaster just as well as brakes. This is fact. Too many close calls reported on this issue and its sad that our government only acts when cars explode and people die. I have noticed that this issue is increasing exponentially putting the risk of death and injury a more probable outcome. From last February almost 29 percent more cases reported in just 4 months. I worked with my dealers trying to avoid this. Did all the trans oil changes, radiator flushes and asked if I could do anything to avoid this disaster and also had them inspect my radiator just a few months back. And yet, my brand new looking, meticulously maintained Pathfinder needs a new transmission and radiator.
My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder has on numerous occasions, just stopped running and turned off. It does this while sitting idle, say in line. It does this while driving down the street. It just turns off! now I'm having trouble re-starting it!.
While driving on a local street in my neighborhood at 35 mph on my way to pick up my son from school, the Pathfinder began to lose power. I press on the gas and the Pathfinder would not go any faster, it was hesitating and seemed like it was going to stop. I made to the mechanic and was told the radiator had leaked into the transmission. The mechanic then advised the radiator and transmission would have to be replaced at a cost of $5828. I am upset and completely in shock when he tells Nissan has an extended warranty however it only covers you up to 100,000 miles. Nissan is aware of this issue and if it happened at 100,000 I would have brought it in for servicing. I paid over 30,000 for the Pathfinder brand new and after eight years this is what I am left with, no recourse?.
While driving at approx 40 mph, the transmission suddenly disengaged; rpms went up to 5000; was like being in neutral. At the time, I was traveling up a slight incline without a shoulder or safe area to stop. Stopped in the roadway. Had it towed to Nissan dealership. They advised that they were aware of the ¿known issue for a long time and that the radiator part that cools the transmission fluid failed and radiator fluid had entered the transmission causing the transmission to fail. This known issue, was never a recall and Nissan had no intentions on a recall due to a class action lawsuit. Unfortunately, my vehicle mileage is over the class action lawsuit settlement mileage and therefore Nissan will not take any responsibility; leaving ¿strict instructions to Nissan customer affairs to specifically not offer any assistance to persons affected by this ¿known issue. Nissan dealership service dept advised that Nissan had ¿fixed the ¿known issue on a newer model of radiator. Nissan should have recalled the product for a safety inspection and replaced all parts known to fail. Total estimated cost to repair at Nissan dealership started around $8000 and negotiated to $5000. Several private transmission repair shop estimates are approx. $4000. Most private auto shops will not touch this repair due to the ¿known issue and no confidence that Nissan ¿fixed the ¿known issue. Request an investigation with an eye towards safety recall & reimbursement for those who already had to pay out of pocket.
Driving vehicle and suddenly lurched forward and wouldn't drive. Taken to shop and said defect in radiator allowed coolant into transmission ruining both components. This is a known complaint which Nissan fails to address. They uped their warranty when problem was seen but mostly happens outside of the warranty. I spoke with a customer service rep and she said there was nothing they could do even though they are aware of the problem.
Check engine light came on / code read p0463 - fuel level sensor / sending unit called Nissan consumer affairs for help . 7/18/2012 / received case #[xxx] took vehicle (2005 Nissan Pathfinder) to south charlotte Nissan 7/25/2012 - was told to wait for Nissan regional mgr. To call. Spoke with "eddie" from Nissan 7/26/2012, provided information was informed of an extended warranty for part up to 72,000 miles, current miles were 77,182 requested help from Nissan regional manager / eddie called 8/8/2012 and denied assistance for repair is there any recourse to resolve this issue? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
It started with the heat in my 2005 Pathfinder not wanting to heat up unless going over 55 mph. Then sudden jerking with the vehicle when going over speeds of 40. Had transmission flushed and worked for about 6 months. Then as my husband was driving on the road it began to lose acceleration and came to a stop. We had the car towed and it hasn't started since? the dealership told us the transmission was completely out. They said it was due to coolant leaking into the transmission. Repairs are going to be $5100. The car has 92,000 miles! still waiting to hear if Nissan manufacturers are going to fix the damage. This is a dangerous vehicle to drive because when it goes out it will completely go out and if you are on the highway this is very scary!!.
My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder's fuel level sensor stopped working while on a long distance trip. This caused us to pull over along a very busy highway and inspect the vehicle for the problem. We later learned that this is a huge problem that Nissan created and is not willing to fix. As a full time law student living off of student loans (and unable to pay to have this huge issue fixed), my family has been forced to reset the mileage every time we fill up on gas in order to keep track of when we are likely out of gas. Not the most ideal situation for a mother of 4 young children driving around in the arizona heat. We thought we were buying quality when we purchased a Nissan, however the opposite happened.
My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder started stalling last week. I would be driving on the highway and it would just go dead making it near impossible to turn the steering wheel. I was towed to the Nissan dealership whom informed me it was an ipdm issue which was in the process of a recall. I informed them I was strapped for money being it was a 700 dollar job. They said chances were it would be covered. It was not covered! I was informed by their consumer affair people if there was infact a recall I may be notified for reimbursement. I have found on numerous sites that it is recalled but because I did not receive a letter it is not their problem. This is not the first issue I've had with Nissan. A fuel sensor issue was found and they covered nothing telling me it was not a safety issue. I was out of warranty so tough luck. Another 377. 00 bucks. Please investigate Nissans practices. I will never trust the Nissan name again.
My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder had a bad fuel sensor. Upon calling the dealer, they gave me the Nissan consumer affairs number to call stating that although my vehicle wasn't recalled for it they fixed others with Nissan covering the expense. When I called I was told I had to get it repaired at the dealership to possibly be reimbursed after the repair was made. I did what they said and they refused my claim stating it did not fall under the recall. I paid twice the amount at the dealer then I would have at a regular mechanic. The service manager was so sure it would be covered as he had another vehicle with the same issue not on the recall list and they approved that truck! the regional specialist was snippy and would not let me speak to her supervisor. I'm disgusted and asking that you check into the integrity as a company. Do they lead you to believe you might get help just so you go to their service? I hate Nissan and will never buy another!.
2005 Nissan Pathfinder's everywhere have a fuel sensor issue. The check engine light was on and I could feel the truck struggle. I went to auto zone to get this checked and they stated that this is due to the fuel level sensor. When putting gas sometimes this shows empty and sometime shows full. If the gas were to run out I could have an accident and my children can be seriously hurt. This is very costly and can run 300-400 dollars this needs to be recalled ASAP.
I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder le that also have a fuel sending unit problem. Nissan recall 2006 and up what happen to the 2005 they are the same model now I have pay out of my pocket. Stick to our american cars and trucks.
I own a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder se, which I bought used. After a few months and at 85, 000 miles the "check engine light" came on my father-in-law, mechanic, checked it and said it was the fuel level sensor. It causes my dte (miles left to drive based on fuel load) to not work properly and sometimes my light comes on indication low fuel when it is half full. I was also told that it would not pass the emission testing because of this problem. I called Nissan and they said I had to repair it on my own since I have no warranty. To top it off aside form the sensor that needs replaced another part connected to it also needs to be replaced. From estimates I have been getting it will cost me between $379-$500 to fix. . I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder & experiencing the same fuel sensor issues the recall is addressing but starting with 2006 models. This just started around 80k a month ago, but now is unsafe for to drive alone at night with my infant child. The "dte" first started flashing around 100 mile dte. . . . . Then the service engine soon light came on for good. Now, I fill up and the gauge does not move at all and always has a warning light on. How I am supposed to tell how much gas I have? this is a $500 fix that I should not have to pay for, especially since my 2005 model is the exact same vehicle as the 2006 that was included in the recall. Please help as there seems to be hundreds of 2005 Nissan Pathfinder owners with this same problem.
2005 Nissan Pathfinder started having shifting problems, had 60k service done at dealer, started again, flushed again at 72 had problems again at 80 and at 87k the radiator core failed and leaked into the transmission causing the transmission to fail and seize total cost for repairs 4400. 00 after hearing about this I did a little search and found this is a big problem with this car, as the shifting is a precurser to the failure, I wanted the dealer to cover since they assured me it was ok. .
2005 Nissan Pathfinder fuel level sensor needs to be replaced, diagnostics done after on going problem and called Nissan after Nissan sent out extended warranty that I cannot use as it will not cover my truck for replacing this part. (over $72k mileage but under 72 month) they admitted in this extended warranty that this is a problem with some Pathfinders. I called about this issue back in may of 2010 only to be told that I can pay for this replacement of this part and if there is a recall I can submit my invoice for reimbursement. Recently when I called about the extended warranty, because I am over the mileage and I have had my vehicle for almost 6 years, I was passed off to consumer affairs, and was told I would be reimbursed for the diagnostics if it in fact did come back that it is the fuel sending unit. So, $128. 00 later I was told I would not be reimbursed for the diagnostics and they would only pay $250. 00(this does not include the labor at which I am expected to pay out of pocket) of about a $600. 00 replacement of a bad part! I have been writing my gas mileage down for 58 weeks now, as this problem started at 71086 miles. I brought this to the attention of the consumer rep only to be told that because it wasn't diagnosed 58 weeks ago they will only pay $250. 00, even though this problem has been the same problem for 58 weeks, no matter if the diagnostics was done then or now. There is quite a forum on edmond's. Com for this issue as this has been an ongoing problem and even though the part number for this fuel sending unit is the same as the 06 Pathfinders- Nissan will not recall the 05's and fix this issue, but they did recall 06's.
2005 Nissan Pathfinder ipdm failed in the middle of traffic at 70 mph with no warning. Lost all power and left family stranded on side of the road. Had car towed home then to Nissan where they admitted alot of same problems with other 2005 Pathfinders. Now fuel sensor failed on Pathfinder which Nissan has recalled for 2006-2008 Pathfinders for same reason but not 2005 Pathfinders with same problems. Car is almost 5 years old and has had 4 batteries and has left us stranded 6 times all for electrical issues that are posted on the internet as a huge consumer problem with Pathfinders someone is going to get hurt or killed in a Nissan unless government takes a look at these problems. All internet postings are regarding same issues ipdm module and the fuel level sensor. Please help!.
Nissan Pathfinder 2005 se error code p0463 fuel sending unit failed, check engine light and faulty gas gauge, replacement cost $400+.
Fuel sending unit failing like on many Nissan vehicles. Recall and quit making people pay out of pocket for faulty product.
Continuing malfunction of fuel guage.
There has been a recall on fuel level sensors for a few of the Nissan cars and trucks. Unfortunately my 2005 Pathfinder is not covered. . . My ses light is on and I can't pass the emissions test to get my tags renewed. This is obviously an issue with Nissan on this particular part. I constantly show empty and have run out of gas on occasion. I just paid 125 dollars for Nissan to tell me what was wrong with my car and that it would cost 700 to fix it. I wouldn't have a problem fixing it, if there wasn't thousands of people with the same issue. It is a problem and Nissan needs to stand up and make it right.
