1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2015

My daughter took our baby to the daycare and was on the highway in the bitter cold in ohio as she ran out gas. She called aaa who showed 2 hours later. In the meantime she was without any heat on the highway in12 temp. Although the gauge showed 1/2 of tank of gas, the car was empty. I bought the car with my to NJ counting the miles so I would not ran out of gas. I had it fixed at the windsor Nissan. They did an excellent job. The problem is that I paid $500+ for a problem that was recalled. This has been published even by the us department of transportation. The national highway traffic safety admin. Wrote a letter (I can provide) on March 3 2010, informing Nissan of the danger of this issue. The ref number is 10v-075 subject fuel system gasoline storage auxiliary tank. The letter goes to explain the issue which covers my car and says "this could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash. Another ref number regarding the Nissan fuel gasoline system number- 10v-075000, and another service bulletin ntb-07-069c, all with the same issue about the gauge being faulty and reading that the car has gas when it doesn't. My daughter was lucky that she had just dropped off the baby and when the car ran out of gas she was able to pull to the side without any accident. However, being put through the experience of being in ohio in winter without heat in a cold car for 2 hours is unforgivable!! although, I called headquarter several times, they acted like they did not not anything about this issue and refused to refund my money back. I have all the services bulletin and will be more then happy to share, although Nissan can call us department of transportation. The national highway traffic safety administration. Product_or_service: had work done to fuel system. I filled a complaint with the bbb#91355526 for nothing. Pls help!!.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2013

1st - fuel gauge does not indicate whether tank is full and service engine light is constantly on. Informed that this was a common problem, but no recall for my vehicle. Will cost $1,000 to replace, still have not done. 2nd - was driving my 2005 Pathfinder on highway, alone with my 2. 5 year old daughter, rpms surge, car won't accelerate, forced to pull over in the middle of nowhere ok, towed to Nissan dealership for $200. Dealership says that radiator and transmission both need to be replaced. Do a google search to find that this is a common issue on this year, make and model and repairs total approximately $4,800. Since my mileage is at 101,500, 1,500 miles over warranty, Nissan will offer no copay. Why is there no recall? does somebody need to be seriously injured or killed for this to happen? shame on Nissan for putting people in danger. Had my car serviced at Nissan dealership where purchased, no one ever informed me of this problem so I could have taken care of it before it was too late.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2013

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph , she noticed the fuel gauge registered incorrectly after the fuel tank had been refueled. In addition, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The contact stated the approximate mileage was 83,000.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2013

Car would just die while driving. The gauge would read empty even with a half tank or more of gas, I also called Nissan dealership to check on recall of the fuel sending unit, the dealership told me there was no recall. So I started doing the work myself, got halfway done and asked a buddy for help and he informed me that there was in fact a recall on that part. So I went to the dealership and then they all of a sudden had a recall and did the work for free. Since then (before) 100,000 miles, my radiator fluid filled my transmission and ruined it, and my transmission fluid filled my radiator and ruined it too. So out of pocket for transmission rebuild and rerouting of the coolant line ($3000). Now I just drive because I have too, anytime I stop I have to kill it to keep it from overheating. But I have no other vehicle so nothing I can do. Nissan continues to just not care at all. I will never have another Nissan. You could give me a Nissan for free and I wouldn't touch it. Straight garbage company.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2013

The dte read ------ . And gas guage on the Pathfinder reads a 1/4 tank of gas, this could cause a bigger problem later.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2012

Filled fuel tank, drove 3 miles when gas gauge fell to 1/2 full. Turned vehicle off ,restarted fuel still at 1/2 full. Then service engine soon light came on.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

The fuel gauge on my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder is not working. This is a known issue by Nissan and has issued a recall for some 2005 Pathfinders however my vehicle is not included. This is big safety issue as I am unable to be certain of fuel remaining in my tank and could run out of gas (or my children that drive the car). I don't understand how Nissan can issue a recall for some but not all vehicles with this issue as it is a very dangerous issue.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2012

Fuel tank sending unit, shows fuel tank empty when is full.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2010

2005 Nissan Pathfinder. Faulty fuel guage. Shows empty and low fuel light on when it is really a full tank. This started off slowly and gradually. It would work when I first filled it up and then about half a tank it would stop working right. Then it just completely quit working at all and the low fuel light stays on all the time now. I have to write down my mileage and try to get gas every 300 or so miles, very much annoying!.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2010

Fuel gage not working. . . . You never know how much gas is in the tank. . . My family was stuck thinking that there was gas in the tank while going 55 mph.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2010

Details: vehicles fuel system is faulty. I noticed that the gas gauge reads empty after having a full tank of gas, additionally the digital "distance to empty" display does not work properly. At times the low gas indicator will be displayed even after I filled the tank up. I have been in two different situations where I ran out of gas on the highway thinking that I had enough gas for my journey. This is a major safety hazard. Nissan replaced the parts on 2006 & 2007 vehicles but refuse to replace my 2005 device quoting that it has high miles and out of warranty.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2010

Recently there has been a recall on the 2006 and 2008 Nissan frontier, xterra, and Pathfinders about how the molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. This has happen to number times except I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder, which has the same identical part in the 2006. This happens to me everytime when the fuel gauge reaches a little below the half way mark. It reads it has about 100 some off miles until empty. When I get up for work in the morning the and start the vehicle the fuel gauge needle goes below empty and the fuel gauge lites up. I feel since the 2006 and 2008 has been recalled and its happening to my 2005 model also, that it needs to be put on the recall list.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2010

I have a 2005 Pathfinder that is having fuel level sensor problems. At 1/4 a tank the service light comes on with a code p0463 sensor failed. I also states 0 on my dte when it is 1/2 full. I know a recall is being done for 2006 and newer but not the 2005's. It is the same issue and feel 2005's also need to be included in this recall. I have 54,000 miles on my truck. I have the service light reset and it still goes back on at 1/4 tank of gas.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2010

I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder that about 3 wks ago I started to have problems with the fuel gauge readings not being accurate and getting erratic reading or none at all or when the gas tank is half full I don't get any reading, after contact with the Nissan dealer in my area they gave me a copy of a service bulletin that had been sent to all dealers on Aug 12,2009 about defective or erratic fuel gauge issues, classification# el07-027b ref# ntb07-069b, applied vehicles 2005-2009 Pathfinder (r51), applied vins 2005-2008 Pathfinder-all, also in the recall which states 419,000 vehs in the us for a fuel gauge problem, the Nissan dealer stated that Nissan is not answering complaints of fixing the problem, I contacted Nissan of n. America and received an e-mail saying there is no recall or service campaign and that I should pay to have the defect fixed, the dealership says in 2 wks they have only received about 3 letters on recalls from Nissan and when they called to find out why so slow, no answer was given, I don't feel that I should have to pay to get a defect fixed that Nissan already knows exist in their vehicles, my [xxx] and the file number by Nissan is file# [xxx] , the two Nissan consumer reps spoken to were vivian gonzalez and samantha forrester, I would like your help on this matter. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

15 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2010

2005 Nissan Pathfinder. The entire car shuts off while driving when it has 1/4 tank of gas. Mine cut of while going through a busy intersection. Took it to the Nissan dealer & they said it was the idp chip. I looked on the internet and several Pathfinder owners have this same problem. This can be very dangerous. The car cuts off with no warning. The dealer told me the part could take up to 1 month to get in! when they finally got the part it cost me over $400 to put in on. This is a serious and very dangerous problem.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2009

On11/01/09 I filled up my gas tank on my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder and driving away I noticed the gauge remained on 1/4 of a tank. Also the service engine light came on and the reading on the dte read ------. Noticed on the net there are many other like me that has gone through this issue.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2009

I had a 1/4 of a tank so I went and filled up,as soon as I started the truck it registered empty soon after my check engine light came on and my dte just read ---- checked on line and found out this was a problem real common im afraid to get on the freeway and run out of gas cause that could be real dangerous for me as well as to others its a shame that someone will have get hurt or loss there life in order for Nissan to correct this simple problem that has plagued older Nissan trucks in the past, when they were able to recall them with no cost to the customer. I hope you can help for safety of our children and our streets.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2009

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the fuel gauge and the odometer displayed incorrect readings. The fuel sending unit was replaced at an authorized dealer and the contact noticed no failures since the vehicle was repaired. She felt that the problem was a safety issue and wanted to report that the other vehicles were not included in recall 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline, storage auxiliary tank) also experienced the failure. The failure mileage was 49,014. The current mileage was approximately 55,440.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

We bought our 2005 Pathfinder used and upon getting a half of tank of gas our gas meter goes straight to empty if it's left idling for a short period. It won't return to full unless you fill the tank back up. It used to return to the correct position when we'd shut the car off then turn it back on but it's no longer doing that unless we fill the tank back up. It seems this is a common complain on this model and seems kind of dangerous.

20 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2009

My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder's gas gauge display suddenly dropped to show 0 miles on distance to empty while the gauge showed 1/4 of a tank. The display then went to a flat line and the check engine light illuminated. At the intake the dealer service rep gave no indication that they have seen such before and the second service rep said he has seen it once or twice. He stated the repair would be near $500. After I balked about such he "made some calls" and was able to get it down to a little over $300. While looking on line today, I found that there are over 36 complaints about this on this reporting agency throughout all the fuel system sub categories. There is also a technical bulletin from Nissan ntb07-069a that addressing such in Pathfinders, frontiers, and exterra models built prior to September 2007. Diagnostic codes 0461,0462,0463. With this being the 37th complaint, should this not be investigated further?.

21 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2009

"service engine soon" light came up around 58000 and incorrect reading of fuel level since then. Do not know how many gas left in tank. Apparently it's wide spread issue for 2005 Pathfinders.

22 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2008

2005 Nissan Pathfinder. Fuel gauge reads zero, half tank or somewhere in-between when the tank is full. Service engine light comes on and will not go out unless the fuel gauge starts reading correctly (which it sometimes does). This is a known problem. Nissan has even come out with a service bulletin ntb07-069a that addresses the problem. The problem that I have is that this has happened to several people, and the repair bill for a vehicle that is out of warranty is between $400 and $600. I believe that this could be considered a safety issue and a recall should be issued if people are running out of gas due to incorrect or non-existent fuel level readings.

23 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2007

Fuel gauge not working properly on 05' Nissan Pathfinder. Recall on all other 05'-09' Nissans, but Pathfinders. Fuel gauge not reading correctly. Can have full tank and reads empty. Now have to work off of mileage. Have no idea how much gas I really have. Engine light has been on since gauge stopped working. Dealership said $400 for new part , not including labor. Gauge has been working improperly for at least 3 yrs. Now. No warranty for this.
