36 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

Radiator cracked and water went into the oil and it mixed. . . . Per rep and mechanic at Nissan dealer. Problem caused by radiatior not being built properly at fabric. This problem caused vehicle to shake violently while driving. Very unsafe.

37 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2015

On July 31, 2015 my car jerked and check engine light came on. By the time I got it to the shop (about 45 min later) it was having trouble accelerating from a stop. When I turned the engine off we could not get it restarted. The shop said the transmission was not communicating with the computer. I had it towed to a transmission shop and my car had the same issue as other Nissans. The coolant leaked into the transmission resulting in the computer shorting out. I now have to pay $4,200 to have the radiator replaced, the transmission rebuilt and the engine flushed. If Nissan is aware of the issue then they should have had a recall for this. From what I am reading online there are thousands of vehicles with this issue.

38 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2015

My SUV was diagnosed with a defective radiator and now has issues with the transmission cooler pipes splitting causing cross contamination between the radiator coolant & transmission fluid. Which resulted in a failure to the automatic transmission. The cross contamination had to have a new transmission, transmission cooler hoses & radiator replaced. Reading multiple sites it appears Nissan know about the defect and didn't warn is customers, even when I took my car to get serviced at the Nissan dealers. This is bad business and customers should not be financially responsible. I hope the person reading this has the courage to do something about it. It appears that corporations have the power. Thank you.

39 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2015

As I was driving the vehicle on the highway it started to shudder and shake and then finally completely turned off on the highway. Once I got it started again it would only go about 20mph I was able to move over to the shoulder and exit the highway. Once we took the car to the dealer, they told us that the radiator had leaked into the transmission and also that I needed to replace two catalyctic converters. The total repairs and replacements would cost me $8000 as I would also need to replace the transmission and radiator. We replaced the radiator but of course that is only half the problem. I still owe about $13k on the vehicle, have only had it for 8 months and am now stuck because I dont have the money to replace the transmission and I cant get rid of the truck knowing this problem.

40 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2015

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that there was transmission fluid leaking into the radiator. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that it was motor oil leaking into the radiator. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,000. The VIN was not available.

41 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2015

Possible transmission failure. Brought vehicle to be inspected and could get a clear answer which one of the observations was perform at a Nissan dealer. The fluids seems to be mixed, transmission with radiator fluid. Seems as this has been and on going problem with Nissan. Dealer tells me the cant find the recall.

42 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

My 2007 nisson Pathfinder began having problems and when I brought it to the mechanic, he stated the coolant fluid went into the tranmission and caused major problems and now the radiator and transmission need replacement to the tune of $4900. 00 (approximate price given by lee myles). I actually brought the car to a Nissan dealer and their quote was $5800. 00 and then they statated other isses needed to be repaired and they stated the total cost would be $10,000. 00! book value of the car through kelly blue book is $9,600. 00 in excellent condition! I saw this is an ongoing problem with Pathfinders and I wanted to tell my story. I hope there is something that can be done against Nissan!.

43 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle started shaking and an abnormal noise came from under the hood of the vehicle. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that coolant leaked from the radiator into the transmission and the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,500. Pam.

44 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2015

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that transmission fluid in the vehicle was leaking onto the radiator. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on two occasions where it was determined that the control module failed. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the leak came from inside the radiator. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 84,000. The VIN was not available.

45 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2015

My 2007 Pathfinder has been shifting rough and sounds like I am driving across "rumble strips" used on the road to keep drivers awake. I went to the dealer to get an oil change and explained the issue. After they checked the car out they told me I had power steering fluid in my radiator and coolant in my power steering assembly. When I asked how that could possibly happen, the tech tried to assure me that this is what happens when radiator lines fail. I told them I had never heard of that and wanted to know how this could happen. They told me it would cost $5,250. 00 to replace the radiator. The service tech and service manager acted like they knew nothing and suggested I call Nissan north America. . . I did. They told me that since I had reported my issue to the better business bureau my case was sent to the arbitration department. The arbitration guy called and told me my vehicle was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. I did some research online and found that Nissan has known of this problem since 2005. Nissan lost a class action suit for this problem but the remedy was to extend the warranty for 100,000 miles. I'm confused because I do not understand how a manufacturer can warranty away a defect. From my research the average mileage for this problem is 112,000 miles. My car is slowly becoming non drivable. I accelerated out of a parking lot but the car moved out into traffic and started rumbling but would not accelerate any further. I almost got hit by another car. Why is the consumer responsible for a known defect? isn't a warranty for parts that are manufactured correctly?.

46 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while in park, the heater failed to function. In addition, the contact stated that the fluid in the radiator was milky. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

47 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2015

I bought the vehicle a year ago at 79,000 miles. In January of 2015, I hit the 100,000 mile mark and almost immediately started having transmission problems. Loud and jerky shifting and smelling foul in the air conditioner. Nissan dealership said that there was an issue and since I was out of warranty, (100,000 miles) that they weren't liable. He said I could drive it because it shouldn't break down for another few thousand miles. So I just parked it. I would only drive it if I absolutely had no other choice. Friday, may 15 2015 I was coming home from a doctors appointment and the vehicle completely broke down. The transmission went out and I was in the middle of a busy road with my 4 year old in the car with me. At 40 mph, the rpm was at almost 5,000. I pulled over to call my husband and when we put it in reverse to back out of the parking space, it wouldn't go into reverse. I had to tow it home and it's completely broken down. I don't have 4,000 to spend on a transmission and radiator.

48 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission and the radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.

49 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2014

Beginning in November 2014, the heater would not blow out warm or hot air if the car was not traveling on the interstate. At speeds below 50mpg, only cool or cold air would blow out of the heater vents and at an idle, only cold air would be emitted. The radiator was flushed three times in an effort to remedy this problem. Our mechanic thought there could be a blockage in the line due to the age of the vehicle. Once flushed, the heat would work for about 45 days. There were months of my driving to work without any real heat in the winter of 2014. After fluid changes and radiator flushes, the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder now has 111,000 miles on it. The air conditioning is working this summer, but towards the end of may 2015, the transmission started "jumping". This usually occurs around 40-45 mph. The engine will rev at a high rpm while traveling down an incline or a hill. The transmission feels as though it is "going out" and upon reading reviews on your site, this seems to be a common problem with this make and model of vehicle. There are times when you can hear the transmission "clunk" into gear when starting or stopping the engine.

50 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2014

Transmission of my Nissan Pathfinder 2007 failed. The radiator spilled the cooling liquid into the transmission, which then proceeded to cause irrepairable damage to the transmission. Transmission replaced with a rebuilt transmission.

51 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the radiator had an internal crack that leaked fluid into the transmission causing damage to the components. As a result, the transmission and the radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000. Djr.

52 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. When the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate and idled highly. The contact stated that radiator fluid was leaking into the transmission. The dealer stated that the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

53 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2014

First the fuel sensor went out. Once I got that fixed (640. 00) the fuel tank wouldn't fill up and the gauges were off. Then fluid leaked into the radiator and I had to replace the radiator (1,000. 00). Then I had to flush it twice. Then the car overheated because the thermostat was gone. $250. 00. Now the car won't start and I'm being told it's the ignition gone bad. All of this has happen over three months. I will never buy another Nissan again. This was my third Nissan and last!!!!!!! where are the recalls if the same problems are occurring.

54 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2014

I purchased my Pathfinder used. With 78,000 miles and within 10 days of having it the transmission dropped completely. Well we took it to the dealer and demanded they make right. . They paid our extended warranty never paid for our rental car and never bothered to tell us there was a defect on my vehicle! we were driving and noticed the transmission slipping and the truck vibrating very loud and vigorously when going into 3rd or 4th gear at around 50 mph. But they had told me it was my imagination. Well 10 days from the day I drove it home I guess it wasn't just my imagination because we lost all acceleration power. The truck was running but wouldn't not move. Here I am a year later googling why my truck keeps screwing up and boy what do I find???? I'm very livid and can't believe that Nissan has decided to fatten their wallets instead of helping it's consumers and making things right. I had a new transmission and new radiator put in. And a year later I'm fighting the same problem all over again. If I'm idle or stay in one spot for a few minutes my truck is over heating and not only that but it's spewing coolant out the reservoir. I have had it in the shop numerous times and no one gives a crap! I was told it was an air pocket and I'm not stupid especially now that I'm reading all the other complaints. This makes me wonder how the government can allow this to continue going on. . I can't believe that no help is available to us and we are being screwed royally and our lives in danger because we are forced to drive a dangerous non reliable vehicle!!!!!!! make things right Nissan fix our vehicles or do a recall and give us our money for putting us through hell.

55 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2014

I am a very loyal Nissan/pathfinder owner. I'm on my second Pathfinder and always have my beloved 2007 serviced regularly at the puyallup Nissan dealership. Because I rely on my vehicle for work, I make sure to keep it current with all recommended services over the life of the vehicle. Until recently, ive been an extremely satisfied Pathfinder owner. Now, I am quite upset that a known defective radiator notice I received approximately a year ago, advised to do nothing if experiencing no problems, but now that I'm over the limit of 100k miles (115k), and experiencing the known radiator defect issue, I am now on the hook for the entire repair cost ($5000). . 56 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2014

Checked the transmission fluid and it was white milky. Had it checked its a problem with the transmission cooler inside the radiator cracking and letting antifreeze get into transmission and it destroys it and it's up to $5000 to fix and lots of lost time and Nissan isn't doing a thing about it. And there are numerous people on the internet with same problem. Nissan should fix this at no cost to the owner !!!!!!!!.

57 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2014

Car having trouble getting up to speed. Now will not start. Dealership says it needs new radiator and transmission.

58 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the vehicle shifted erratically. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that radiator fluid was entering the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage and VIN was not available.

59 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2014

When the car reaches speed of 45 mph, it begins to jerk and vibrate and a loud noise starts. If I press the overdrive button to turn it off, the car smooths out. If I do not turn the overdrive off, once I lower speed or accelerate, it stops vibrating. Diagnosis from mechanic is coolant has leaked into my transmission fluid. Car should have new radiator and transmission put in.

60 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2014

We started to have a very loud and creeping noise when we put the car in reverse. Sounds like we were pulling something very heavy and the car could not resist it. Then, we also started to notice issues such as a delay in gear changes and more noises now when driving forward or in reverse. We took the car to the dealership today and they diagnosed it with a "broken trans cooler line in radiator which made the coolant leak and mixed with transmission fluid. They want us to replace the entire transmission, radiator, and flush engine block bringing the price close to 7k. I started to research this and I'm definitely adding my complaint and will surely call Nissan to see what options they will give us. 2/20/15.

61 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2014

For the past week when ever I drove my car the entire vehicle shudders, shakes and has a harsh upshift when it is changing gears. It happens the most on highways going at high speeds (55-65 miles). I took my car into a Nissan dealership on 1-29-14 to get it checked out. The dealership diagnosed my car with a "broken trans cooler line in radiator which made the coolant leak and mixed with transmission fluid. Advise replace entire transmission, radiator, and flush engine block as well as replace thermostat, (price to fix: $5938. 00 + 9% tax)". I researched this issue online and found this to be a common defect issue that Nissan has been dancing around since 2007, as well as a class action lawsuit being filed against Nissan. I bought the car on July 28, 2011, so I have only owned the car for a little over 2 years in which the dealership I purchased the car from did not inform us of this warranty being offered by Nissan from the lawsuit or informed us of the possible transmission problem. I had the car completely checked out by a mechanic in November of 2013 and it passed with no issues. Now here we are 2 months later, and over 100,000 miles and my Nissan experiences this issue. This can be a very detrimental and dramatic failure, causing massive safety issues if I continue to drive my car, especially on highways going high speeds. I contacted Nissan this morning to see if they are going to stand behind their product and since I am only 11,000 miles over their "warranty" (which has high deductibles), they denied to help and I am left holding a $6500. 00 price tag to fix my car.

62 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2014

My vehicle just completely shut down without any warning signs or previous issues. I have taken very good care of this vehicle and the radiator has a manufacturer defect that allowed transmission fluid to leak into the radiator causing catastrophic damage to my radiator and transmission that Nissan will not take any responsibility for and will cost me upwards of $5,200. 00 at least.

63 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2014

Was hearing noise from the engine, dealer diagnosed as timing chain guides bad, said this was a "known" problem with this model. 3 weeks after fixing was going to work and the transmission went out, was advised by dealer that coolant had leaked into the fluid from a faulty radiator design on this model. . . Estimated 6000+ for repairs. These are known issues with this model Nissan and the company has offered zero help with correcting this.

64 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2014

Nissan refuses to fully cover the repair/replacement of a faulty radiator and transmission. Nissan is currently under investigation for this neglect and is stalling on recalling the vehicles. Nissan extended a warranty leaving the burden of $3,000 deductible for the consumer. This is an appalling and sad excuse of customer service - the vehicles did not meet quality control and it is disgusting to have the customer put out that much money for a problem that existed before the vehicle left the dealership.

65 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2014

The truck began shifting gears very roughly and slowly with a strong jerking motion to the truck. When taken for diagnosis was told that the transmission fluid and coolant were mixing due to a faulty radiator and thus got into transmission causing the need for replacement of radiator, flushing of fluid lines and transmission replacement approx. Cost $6000. After researching this problem, I see multitudes of other Nissan customers have had the same problem. This issue is extremely unsafe on roads. My car falls outside the extended warranty given due to this problem. In addition, if my Pathfinder did fall under the warranty, Nissan only assists with payment to replace radiator not the damage done transmission because of the faulty radiator. This absolutely needs to be investigated further!.

66 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2014

Vehicle has not been warming up for about 2 weeks, never thought it was anything serious, thought it would be a heating coil or something, took it to the dealer on 1/3/14 to get an oil change and for them to look at the problem and the technician came back and said "OH you need a transmission and radiator bring the car back on Tuesday" like it was something common. Just looked into the complaints did not know this was a common issue with the vehicles, needless to say this will be my last Nissan. I purchased a extended warranty which they did ask me, however I did not know about the class action suit that would have covered the issue until today 1/8/14.

67 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2013

My car started to rattle and lose power at 45 mph. I drove it home and tried to reverse it in with no luck. I immediately knew I had a transmission issue. I parked the car for two days and took it to the dealer who later informed me that my radiator coolant fluid had mixed with my transmission fluid and destroyed my entire car. They quoted me between 7000-9000 to fix the car. I contacted Nissan who informed me that there is nothing they can do because they extended the warranty twice to up to 100,000 miles. I find this ironic since after extensive research the issue usually occurs after 100,000 miles. Nissan has know about this problem for 7 years and has chosen to ignore the issue and not issue a recall. Now the consumers have to foot the bill.

68 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2013

The vehicle vibrated and shuttered and ceased to move. I was in traffic and luckily had a place to pull over. I had the vehicle towed to the local Nissan dealership. After a discussion and diagnosis by the technician and shop foreman it was determined that the transmission and the radiator had crossed contamination of fluids resulting in the transmission becoming inoperable and requiring the transmission and radiator be replaced. The shop foreman stated that Nissan knew about this defect in the radiator and the resulting problems. I am waiting to find out if Nissan will help with repair cost. I was told by the shop foreman that the cost to replace the transmission and radiator would be approximately $8,000. 00. .

69 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2013

Radiator failed (product defect, no accident or external causes) and leaked into the transmission, effectively destroying it. Had to get both radiator and transmission replaced. Symptoms started with shuddering during shifting, which led to rough shifting, gear slippage, check-engine light, and eventually the car not even starting.

70 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2013

Major vibration during shifting gears (transmission). Concerned that coolant has leaked from radiator into transmission as has been reported on thousands of other Pathfinders. Nissan should be forced to recall and replace radiators/transmissions.
