I bought the Nissan Pathfinder brand new off the lot in late 2007. It only has 45 thousand miles on it. I've never had any problems with this vehicle until now. About 2 weeks ago I thought someone was stealing gas out of my vehicle, but thought it was nearly impossible because it's kept behind a locked fence . Saturday July 13th I had to fill up because of a storm. When I gas finished fueling it showed that I had an empty tank. I knew that was wrong so I decided to give Nissan a call at 1-800-647-7261. I spoke to an agent and told him my problem, he gave me a case number and told me to call the nearest Nissan dealership closest to me . I called the Nissan dealership's service department and they told me that I would have to pay for any services I had done to my vehicle. . I don't agree . There are multiple people with the same vehicle as myself and I believe there should be a recall on this problem . If anyone can help me , please feel free to help. I'm on a fixed income and this was not any negligence on my part. I have a case number already on file with Nissan, but the dealership doesn't want to honor it. Lesliemarin93@gmail. Com. Hel me wit the next step to get my vehicle fixed. Thank you.
While driving Thursday, February 14th, 2019, my check engine light came on. I pulled over in a nearby parking lot as soon as I could. At this point, I noticed that my fuel gauge had dropped from 1/4 tank down to empty. I used an odb2 scanner to check my error codes, and found an error code p0463 (fuel tank level sensor - voltage high). I immediately proceeded to a gas station, refueled, and cleared the engine code to see if it would reappear. It has not since reappeared. After some research, I found that this is a known issue for 2008 Nissan Pathfinders, and that there is a recall associated with the issue. The NHTSA campaign id is 10v075000. I called Nissan's public number and a local dealership owned service center. Neither found any active recalls regarding my vehicle, and neither knew what a NHTSA campaign id number was. I asked to speak to the manager of the service center. I left a voice mail for them Thursday afternoon, but have not heard back. Based on the symptoms my vehicle is experiencing, I believe my vehicle is likely suffering from the same issue as described in the aforementioned NHTSA campaign, and that my vehicle, and likely others, were missed in the recall.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. While the fuel tank was full or after fuel was added to the fuel tank, the contact noticed that the fuel gauge reading was inaccurate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel tank sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,000.
The vehicle fuel sensor shows that it's empty as soon as the vehicle has a quarter tank of gas left. Mileage does not show even though the vehicle has gas. This happens when they vehicle is turned on and in motion. I do see that Nissan has a recall for this specific problem (NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000) but there are no recalls associated with my vehicle VIN #.
Fuel system, gauge not functioning. The fuel gauge randomly shows empty when not empty or even full, then shows random readings that do not accurately show fuel level. Just 2 days ago I showed 3/8 tank. Went to store then showed 5/8 after starting vehicle. Trying to manually track milage so I do not run out of gas since gauge is not working. Nissan contacted twice about recall/campaign# 10v075000. Was told my VIN is not included. I have researched the complaints on this website and out of 184, 43 are confirmed this issue not included in recall, additional 11 same complaint but unable to tell if included in recall. If accurate fuel reading was concern enough for recall 10v075000, how do an additional 43-54 complaints not cause additional vehicles to be included. This is 25% of all safety complaints on this vehicle on this web page. Please force Nissan to address this obvious vehicle flaw and safety issue. I do have pictures, did not attach but will provide if requested. I have both email responses from nissian, will provide if requested.
Digital gas milage and gas gauge needle not reading how much gas is actually in the tank. Needle goes below e and gas light comes on even when I have a full tank. Digital gas milage goes to 0 or gives all dashes no matter how much gas I have. Or when I am low on gas the needle will read I have more than I do. This happens randomly while stationary, while driving on city street and highway. Fluctuates in the middle of a trip, etc.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle stalled. The failure occurred while driving various speeds and after being driven approximately 10-20 miles. The vehicle was able to be restarted; however, the failure recurred. The contact also stated that the fuel gauge read 1/4 of a tank or empty after being completely fueled. The contact noticed that the failure only occurred when the vehicle was fueled over a half of a tank. The contact stated that the last time this occurred, the service engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel level sensor circulator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 57,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that on several occasions, the fuel gauge indicated that the fuel tank was empty and had 0 miles left to fuel once the fuel level decreased to the halfway point. The contact refueled the vehicle and discovered that the vehicle had a half tank of fuel. The failure recurred on several occasions once the fuel level decreased to half full point. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000. The VIN was not available.
The fuel level sensor is failing, causing erratic or inaccurate fuel gauge readings. The check engine light also illuminates. Nissan has recalled 2006 - 2008 vehicles for this fuel gauge issue. Recall announced: March 03 2010 NHTSA reference: #10v075000 number affected: 80,689 summary: Nissan is recalling certain model year 2006 and model year 2008 frontier, xterra and Pathfinder vehicles. The molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. Consequence: this could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash. This is a known defect to both Nissan and the NHTSA. . . And it should be repaired before there is a fatality in my family.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked overnight with a quarter of tank of fuel. The contact noticed the fuel tank gauge read empty. The contact took the vehicle to the gas station, refilled the tank, and the fuel gauge read full. The failure recurred at the quarter tank level. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank level sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that because the contact had not taken the vehicle to a Nissan dealer all of 2015, they were not able to provide a repair for NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 89,000.
While driving on the highway in the fast lane at 85 mph the car lost power completely. Luckily there were no other cars in my vicinity. Coasted over 2 lanes to breakdown lane just barely over the line. Gas gage read 1/4 tank so figured I still had gas. Tried to restart several times but car acted like it was out of gas. Called aaa for a tow truck and asked to bring gas just in case. Car started right up after mechanic put gas in tank. Although this issue is a recall1 Nissan will not repair for free. Say my VIN is not included in the recall and it will cost me $450. Recall summary:Nissan is recalling certain model year 2006 and model year 2008 frontier, xterra and Pathfinder vehicles. The molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. Hazard:this could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.
Trouble code p0463, ses light came on. Its the same trouble code that certain Nissan models fuel gages read 1/4 of a tank when empty. I was told that there is no problem with mine or recalls it is a 08 le v8 Pathfinder.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Nissan path finder. The contact stated the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the gas tank does not read correctly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed the fuel sender float arm had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. There was a recall issued out for this failure NHTSA campaign number 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline) however this vehicle's VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 108,000. Kh.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. While driving at approximately 50 mph, the instrument panel fuel gauge dropped to empty as the low fuel and check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the fuel tank was filled to capacity approximately two days prior to the failure. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline). The approximate failure mileage was 142,000.

Was in traffic and fuel level guage was at 1/4 tank. I decided to stop at my usual gas station to fill up. I completely filled the tank and then when I went to leave I noticed the fuel guage didn't go back up to full. It took over 30 miles for it to finally go back up to full and the check engine light came on. Ever since then fuel gauge doesn't go down past 1/4 tank and if I don't use my trip odometer to gauge how many miles I have gown I would run out of gas! I found numerous complaints about the same problem from other owners and found a recall on this problem. Also found where nassan fefuses to fix the problem under recall/warranty. I contacted Nissan with my VIN number and they said my car was not one of the recalls. Then I asked for a list of the VIN numbers for all the Pathfinders recalled for this and they said they could not give out that information. I told them I wanted visual proof that my car was not one of the recalls since I have the problem with my car. Again they refused to provide this. Nissan should be liable and be made to back this problem recall with my Nissan Pathfinder! do not bye a Nissan product cause they do not back their products and pay for recalls.
Check engine light came on and fuel gauge went to empty, filled tank up and the fuel gauge stayed at empty. Next day all seemed okay with the fuel gauge, but four days later ran out of gas and fuel gauge was reading a 1/4 tank of gas.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed to display the accurate reading fuel levels. On one occasion while driving at 65 mph, the fuel tank displayed full when the fuel tank was actually empty causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 96,488.

The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
In October 2012, I filled my vehicle up with gas and the fuel gauge did not register a full tank. I drove the vehicle for a few miles and the gas gauge indicated empty. The check /service engine light came on even though I had just had my vehicle serviced at the Nissan dealership in fairfield, CA. I went back to the dealership and they charged me $139. 00 to diagnose the problem!! they then told me that the fuel sending unit had to be replaced and it would cost an additional $318. 00. I did not have the additional money to perform this service. On 11/19/2012, I discovered that NHTSA had had issued a safety recall, campaign id number 10v075000 for the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder and indicated that the fuel sending unit was to be replaced free of charge. The date of the NHTSA campaign was March 2010. I was never notified. Additionally, I always take my vehicle to the dealership for service, so they multiple opportunities to to advise me of this problem and perform the necessary fix. Since the dealership wanted to charge me $318. 00, I contacted Nissan customer service. Customer service told me that my vehcile was outside of warranty, citing my warranty had expired after 75,000 miles. I countered with the statement that firstly, it was a NHTSA recall, secondly, that I was never notified, and thirdly, had I had been properly notified in March 2010, I would have still been within warranty coverage, although as a safety recall the service should be performed for free. They said they would have to refer the matter to regional. They gave me a case number of 10094748. I contacted NHTSA hotline and they gave me a reference number of 493972. From the NHTSA notice it appears over 80,000 vehicles were sold which would have this problem. By not notifying the owners as NHTSA requested them to do, Nissan would save 80,000 x $318. 00 thus saving Nissan $29,048,040.
Nhtsa campaign id number: 10v075000 covers a defective fuel sending unit/gauge on 2008 Nissan Pathfinders resulting in the fuel gauge overstating the fuel level by 1/4 tank. I have a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder (VIN# [xxx]) experiencing this exact issue with the fuel gauge, yet Nissan is claiming my vehicle is not covered by the recall. If 1 manufacturing plant produced vehicles with this issue it stand to reason that another plant using the exact same parts would also produce vehicles with the same problem as evidenced by the fact that my vehicle from another manufacturing plant does indeed have the problem.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the fuel level gauge would provide an inaccurate empty reading after refueling. The failure recurred sporadically. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop where the fuel tank was found to be defective. The manufacturer was made aware of failure however no further assistance was provided. The approximate current and failure mileage was 45,000.
At 3/4 of a tank the fuel gauge drops to 0 and the fuel light comes on. Service engine soon light stays on.
Service engine light came on, followed by airbag light. A diagnostic at the dealer showed the "sending unit" on the fuel gauge was not functioning and the airbag sensor was also not functioning. When I googled it, I found several recalls on this year/make/model (on your website). The fuel gauge system will say there is 1/4 gas when it's empty or will drop to "e" for empty when there is still gas in the tank. I now have to use my odometer to gauge my gas usage since I ran out of gas in the middle of an intersection at rush hour a few weeks ago. At the same time the service engine light came on for the sending unit issue, the red airbag light came on as well. So I'm driving around in a car that has faulty airbag sensors and fuel gauge sending unit. The two issues are doing the exact same thing the recall notices describe, yet it's not part of the recalls? I have been in contact with corporate Nissan via email twice now and they refuse to acknowledge these recalls apply to my vehicle/VIN #. I am the second owner of the vehicle (it was purchased via auction in new york) and thought that was why I had not received the recall notices. However, it turns out Nissan will not disclose which VIN numbers were part of those recalls and refuse to pay the repair services for either issue citing my VIN# was not included in the recall notices. Then why is my car doing exactly what is described in the recall notices?.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the fuel gauge would provide inaccurate fuel level readings. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed which located the failure at the fuel sending unit. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer denied assistance with repairs under NHTSA campaign id number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: auxillary tank) due to the vehicle mileage. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 10,000.
