Four problems related to other fuel system tank filling/charging have been reported for the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder based on all problems reported for the 2008 Pathfinder.
The dashboard fuel guage does not reliably report the level of fuel. This issue led to a recall for 2008 Pathfinders in the past, but apparently not for my VIN. The issue occurs at various times, including when stationary or moving. Sometimes refilling the tank will give a full tank reading, some times it will not. It will also allow the tank to run down to empty without reflecting that on the guage. Often, but not always, the yellow service engine light will illuminate as a result.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. While driving 65 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. Also, within twenty minutes of filling the fuel tank, the fuel gauge failed to display an accurate reading. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel tank sending unit failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system gasoline). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.
After filling up the tank and getting back on the highway, I noticed my gas gauge was reading I had 1/4 tank and my tachometer was flashing dashes all the way across. I pulled off the highway and checked to see if my gas cap was on and it was. The vehicle was running fine so I continued on my way. Eventually, the gas gauge moved to the full position and my tachometer began to keep the miles to empty, but not accurately. Once I got home, I researched online and found a recall for my vehicle. Campaign id 10v075000. I've contacted Nissan 4 different times and no one is willing to help me with this matter. My vehicle's gas gauge will not go below 1/4 tank. I've already run out of gas twice because I forgot to keep track. Running out of gas on us hwy 275 south in rush hour traffic is not fun. I was lucky that I didn't cause an accident. What do I need to do to have my vehicle fixed?.
The fuel sending unit on my Nissan is faulty. There is a part campaign issued for some vehicles but Nissan is not covering mine. The concern is that the fuel sensor either registers empty and I can run out of gasoline. Or as I am filling my vehicle, it may not sense the level of gasoline in the tank and cause an overfill situation. As I live in a near non attainment area, this situation could be impact fuel of the environment.
