Nissan Pathfinder owners have reported 7 problems related to adaptive cruise control (under the forward collision avoidance category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. The front collision radar and advanced driver assistance systems (adas) on my 2025 Pathfinder platinum fail intermittently and repeatedly, creating a severe safety hazard. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. Component/system failed: the front radar sensor randomly malfunctions and shuts down entirely. This completely disables the automatic emergency braking (aeb), propilot assist, and adaptive cruise control. Safety risk: the sudden and unprompted disabling of the automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control while traveling at highway speeds poses a severe risk of collision. The driver is forced to take sudden manual control without the expected safety net, creating a highly dangerous distraction and increasing the risk of rear-end crashes. Warning lamps/messages: yes. Usually, after 30 to 60 minutes of highway driving, dashboard warning lights suddenly illuminate, displaying messages such as "front radar unavailable" or "system fault," accompanied by flashing collision symbols. This occurs in perfect weather conditions, on clear roads, and with perfectly clean sensors (no snow, dirt, or debris obstructing the radar). I have over 30 videos capturing these failures occurring under normal driving conditions. Inspection & dealer reproduction: the vehicle has been inspected by two different authorized Nissan dealerships, spending a total of 35 days out of service. At the first dealership (10 days in shop), the official paperwork blamed "dirt/debris," but a service advisor informally admitted via text message that it was an internal system error they could not fix. At the second dealership (25 days in shop), technicians test-drove the vehicle but claimed they "could not duplicate" the intermittent issue and found "no codes," despite me providing them with extensive video evidence of the system crashing. Manufacturer involvement: I contacted Nissan north America corporate regarding this severe safety defect and the dealerships.

On 6/9/24 I was traveling south on interstate 77. I had intelligent cruise control set. I heard a little chime noise go off and looked at my dash to see what it could be. I noticed the intelligent cruise control was turned off. So I gave my car gas to get it back up to speed. The engine just reved and that is when I noticed that my car was in neutral. This was not operator error. I had both of my hands on the steering wheel and nothing hit the shifter to put it in neutral. I have an appointment with Nissan on Monday 6/17. Back in Feb 2023 this same car put itself in neutral at a stop light. I could not get it to go into drive. I shut it off and turned it back on and it was able to go into drive. I took it to the Nissan dealer on 2/14/23. They said it gave a code that they never saw and would look into it. They did nothing to the car at this time. They never got back to me and I never inquired about it because it never went into neutral again by itself until 6/9/14 while driving down a busy interstate. This time I was very scared and felt like this was a dangerous situation and a safety concern.

While driving with the cruise control activated and traffic sign recognition (tsr) turned on and also the propilot assist and speed adjust by route turned on, I have been on the highway (speed limit 100km/h) and the vehicle reads the speed limit sign on the exit ramp (20km/h) and automatically reduces my speed even though I am not on the exit ramp. I have almost been hit from behind due to that sudden slow down. I have now turned some of those systems off until they come up with a software fix, very dangerous.

When traveling more than 10-15 miles, the Feb/icc warning comes on without notice or reason, disables the cruise control and slows the car suddenly. There is no way to reset it without stopping the vehicle and restarting it. Took service bulletin ntb19-033a to the action Nissan dealer in nashville, TN. Despite it clearly indicating that my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder is covered, they claim it is not. This is a major safety issue that Nissan clearly has identified. It needs to be fixed.

When using the intelligent cruise control the car gets false readings and brakes your car automatically which is dangerous while driving on the highway.
Very unusual and excessive rear brake pads and rotor decay, I was asked by dealership to replace brake pads and rotor just at 22000 miles, and then after replacing again they are asking to replace just after another 19000 miles. And the automatic brake sometimes gets scary, get too close to the front vehicle without reducing speed while driving in cruise control mode.
