How can a major car company build a vehicle that has so many rust problems. My 1998 Pathfinder has so many rust problems. The company has had recall on the front strut housing, filler gas tube. Why can't the company stand up and take care of all the rust problems. Ever 1998 Pathfinder has rust issues fenders rear quarter panels . If you paid $1000,00 for factory running boards they all have rusted off. Why is it that the owners have to accept the problem with all these rust issues? this is my first and last Nissan I will ever own. Oh did I also tell you the transmission has been replaced, rear end makes noise, the distributor has been replaced filler tube, now the strut tower is rusting. Is this even a safe vehicle to operate on the road?.

I owned a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder after front windscreen was hit by a small stone there appeared a crack which I dismissed. I now have a 2009 Pathfinder and the front windscreen was hit by a small stone while driving on the highway and now again I have a cracked windscreen - 2nd time around is not an accident - I consider it a defect in manufacturing.

2001 Nissan Pathfinder severely rusted at drivers front strut tower, seperating the strut from the frame.
We brought our 2000 Nissan Pathfinder in for the yearly inspection. We were told that the car was unsafe to drive due to an extremely large crack through the front left wheel well and along the whole length of the inner fender were the strut mount is located. They attempted to weld it together but were unsuccessful due to the rot and thinness of the frame. We are now left without a car. We brought the car to our local dealer, quirk Nissan, for examination. They told us it was safe to drive. We then brought it to a third mechanic and they told us it was completely unsafe and to avoid all potholes. If we hit a pothole we would probably loose all control of the car because the steering column is located next to the strut. This was exactly what the first mechanic told us as well. Nissan is the only one to say it is safe. This has been our primary car for the last year. All other aspects of the car are in good shape. We bought this car new, brought it to the dealer for the first 100,000 miles for all maintance and work. We never took it off roading or on to the beach. It has not been exposed to salt water. We are appalled that Nissan has not conducted a safety recall. It is just a matter of time before someone is killed. From what we have read online and from speaking with several mechanics this appears to be a common problem. The mechanic at the Nissan dealership told us what we were reading was for previous models not our model. This is not true! I am grateful that we, my husband, 5 month old baby, and I were not injured or killed. Nissan needs to stand behind its product and conduct a recall.

My 2000 Nissan Pathfinder se started making strange noises in the front end about a week ago. Upon inspection, I found that the strut tower had totally rusted out and completely separated from the vehicle. When I tapped it with a hammer, it created a huge hole, and the frame just disintegrated. The vehicle is no longer safe to drive and must be taken off the road. Having it repaired is not feasible. As a mechanic, I take very good care of my vehicle. It's maintained and washed regularly. This is clearly a defect in the Pathfinder, and should warrant a product recall. Driving the vehicle like this would be risking the safety of my family and myself.
Rear hatch hydraulics not staying up all the way. Have not been working well for some time and now the cold weather is causing them to not hold open rear hatch at all. Have not looked into having parts replaced yet.

Passenger side floor board kept getting wet. After the 4th service I asked the dealership about it and they told me that there is a bulletin out on the a/c evaporator coil and they do not have the parts to repair it because they are on back order. They will call and schedule an appointment with me when the parts are available.

I discovered that the left front strut tower has begun to tear away from the rest of the body at its base. There is visible corrosion at the base. I recently noticed unusual swaying after hitting bumps at highway speed. The top of the strut tower is obviously out of alignment with the opposite tower. The brake line to the left front wheel is now under stress. There have been no known collisions with the vehicle. No known incident to cause damage. No heavy off-road. Veh. Has been used to tow.
The car wobbles back and forth like riding a boat in ruff waters. This is a structural issue and 2 different auto repair men have not yet figured out what is causing it.
#1 airbag light flashing - car 7 years old- manual says check at 10 years -Nissan charged $80. 00 to check- told me it would cost $750. 00 to fix- I refused- light is off since they checked it- was told it will come back on-airbag is supposed to work while light is off -#2 also corrosion-support bar fell off -dangerous situation.

My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder, that I got after Nissan did a buy back to my 2004 Nissan quest (with a lot of problems),has a rattle sound coming from the two front windows when they are open. They sound like they are loose inside the door. I went to the dealer and they told me there is nothing that they can do. They reported the problem to Nissan. Until now I am waiting for the solution.
My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder le has a loud squeak/vibration coming from the underbody ever since it was purchased. Eight visits to dealer sterling mccall and they have not been able to confirm the cause.
While making a left turn the load in the truck shifted and made a half inch dent inside the bed of the truck. The consumer noticed that the tail gate would not close properly. The cross member which supports the floor board has also shifted. The dealer was notified. Please provide any additional information.
