Tire Pressure Monitoring System Problems of Nissan Pathfinder

The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the tire pressure monitoring system malfunctioned and the tire warning light illuminated although there was no problem with the tires. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who could not find the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who took a complaint. The VIN was unavailable. The current mileage was approximately 15,000 and the failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

Service engine soon light popped on. Read owners manual. Advised to open and re-close gas cap. Did that. Light did not go out. December 10, gas gauge indicated empty. Dte light appeared ------. Filled up. Gas gauge didn't move. Then, December 12, 2008 gas gauge suddenly rose to a little over half tank. Dte odometer display shows 78 miles to empty with over half tank. Looked up problem online. Hundreds of people with same problem in Pathfinders and x-terras. No warranty coverage. I have extended warranty. My 2006 Pathfinder has 71k on it. Nissan says $600 to repair. Seems like this is a product/manufacturing defect.

Low tire pressure sensors are malfunctioning, but rather than fix them under warranty, the Nissan dealer and Nissan both recommended that I over-inflate the tires to 39 psi, when the correct tire pressure is stated as 35 psi on both the door frame sticker and the manual. This is a dangerous condition that can lead to death and injury. Both the dealer and Nissan consumer affairs failed to stop giving our this dangerous recommendation when I alerted them to the dangers of overinflated tires. Many motorists in denver may be driving on overinflated tires at the recommendation of Nissan and their dealer.

Nissan armada; the flat tire alarm sounded and after stopping the vehicle the flat tire sensor located on the valve stem was leaking air profusely. It went from 36 lbs of air to 20 lbs in approx 1 minute. Had we not pulled off the highway jusat before the event I feel we would have lost control of vehicle.
