Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problems of the 2007 Nissan Quest - part 1

Fuel gauge sensor was brought in for recall but issue still exists. Dealer claims I need to pay to determine if it is still the same problem. Dealer also confirmed they do not verify the recall work done was successful. All they are required to do is "put in the new parts". When I fill the tank within 5 mins. It goes back to empty on the gas gauge. The recall did nothing to solve the problem.

The gas gauge is saying that there is over a quarter of a tank and the vehicle runs out of gas. This was happening occasionally. Now, it is happening more and more. Now, I feel that I must fill up every few days so I am not left stranded again. First time, close to home. Second time on my way to work on a major highway (very scary). Third time, close to home again. I was told that a recall was to happen over the summer of 2015 but can not find any information about it.

Fuel gauge, read approximately 1/4 of a tank. Car began to sputter and buck, as if the car was out of gas. Nearly got into a multiple car accident. Luckily able to pull off the road and get car into a gas station. Put gas in the car, ran fine, but gas gauge is still innaccurate.

Same as most others on here, we were driving and the vehicle ran out of gas. Gas gauge read just over quarter of a tank, yet was actually empty. We do our best to get it filled up at a half tank, but this is the third time this has happened in a year and a half. We've gotten two letters from Nissan informing us of the issue, but it's starting to appear as though nothing is going to be done to fix this safety issue. Hopefully someone doesn't have to die to get them to stand behind their product. Obviously there's a defect.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that the fuel gauge provided an incorrect reading. The fuel gauge level read half a tank when the fuel tank was empty. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing; however, the contact did not have the name of the part that was needed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 78,000.

I was driving 65 mph on the freeway, when suddenly my vehicle lost power. I was able to coast to the side of the road, but was partially on the freeway still since I was on an uphill incline. My gas guage showed 1/4 tank. This was the 3rd time in 2 months that I ran out of gas when my guage still showed plenty of gas. The first time, I was towed to a repair station , only to be told that I was simply out of gas. This last time was scary since I couldn't get safely off the road.

Vehicle was was showing a quarter tank of gas while driving then started sputtering around and died.

I was driving minivan back home with my daughter after her dr. 's appointment. My fuel gauge was showing that I have close to 120 miles to empty the tank. All of a sudden my van lost the engine power and started shaking and finally completely stopped after few hiccups. I was able to move it in the middle turning lane as soon as it started shaking and I realized a problem. This saved me and others from being in an accident. Also, I was at a lower speed and going up hill and that helped me manage to move in the middle without causing an accident. If I had on a highway and running at a highspeed, I would have caused a big accident involving many vehicles. I found out that may gauge wasn't reporting the fuel properly and I ran out of fuel. When I put some gas from a can, I was able to start the vehicle. Since that day, my fuel gauge is not accurate. I have to keep my gas filled up just to avoid any such happening again. I have also experienced that since I sarted having this problem my vehicle also started engine power loss at lower speeds. At times, it looks like the engine is going to stop and then it will get a big jerk and start to move normal. This kind of behavior is not normal and may result in a unsafe/dangerous condition on the road. This a problem with the gauge/fuel system or may be the computer itself that should be addressed and should have a recall on it.

First of all, this is related to NHTSA action number pe14012. I just got off the phone with Nissan and was told that there is no program or fix available for the problem. You closed this investigation on January 13, 2015 based on Nissan telling the NHTSA that they were going to do something to rectify the issue. It is now July 15, 2015, 4 months after I was told by Nissan consumer affairs that they would have a fix by July. I believe that Nissan lied to you to get you off their backs. Their fix so far is to tell me that I need to fill up the gas tank when it is half full. . . . In a day and age when every car has a red light that comes on, this is ridiculous for me to have to watch my gas gauge or mileage in order not to run out of gas when at full speed! this is a safety issue. I had the vehicle stop on my in the middle of a very busy intersection. . . Other cars had to slam on brakes and since I was making a turn in a space of oncoming traffic. . . They had to swerve to avoid me! my wife also had it cut out on her, but fortunately was just pulling into a station to fill up. Please reopen this investigation to put Nissan on notice. They are doing nothing. I even offered to my dealership to pay to have this fixed and they couldn't do it because there aren't parts available. Nissan lied to you. Get 'em! I am going to send a copy of this to senator johnny isakson and congressmen rob woodall, tom price, lynn westmoreland, jody hice, doug collins, barry loudermilk, david scott, austin scott and tom graves. All of whom are personal friends of mine. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

The vehicle stalled out and would not restart. The fuel gauge read 1/4 of a tank but the vehicle acted like it was out of gas. We put gas in the vehicle and it started. We were informed there was an investigation into the fuel gauge problem but no solution. When I looked it up online it says investigation is closed. We have been told to keep our vehicle over a 1/2 of a tank at all times but this has been ongoing for several months and still no resolution! I am not happy with Nissan and this is the second problem that Nissan has not stood behind and no recall at this time!.

While driving my 2007 Nissan Quest I pulled up to a stop light and the engine died. It would not turn over and start again as if it was out of fuel but the gauge still showed 1/4 tank of fuel. I had to have a st. Louis police officer stop traffic downtown so I could push my Quest off of the road. He then took me to get fuel in hopes that was the problem. I put fuel in it and it started right up. Then the very next day the gauge shows the van is completely empty but it is totally full. It then starts working again then quits then starts working again and the "drive until empty" gauge is all over the place. When the fuel gauge does start working it is never consistent.

While getting onto a freeway (dark/raining/pm), the vehicle shut down without warning. This caused a complete power failure to the power brakes and power steering. This created a immediate hazard. Also, this left my wife and two kids stranded. The vehicle showed about a 1/4 tank of gas on the dash and the digital readout in the center console said 68 miles to empty. I towed the vehicle home. Prior to doing diagnostic work I put a gallon of gas in. The vehicle started right up. I filled up the tank thinking maybe the float/sensor may have stuck. Again the van without warning shut down completely. This time it was in a residential area. The gas gauge showed 1/4 tank and center console computer read 66 miles to empty. I placed 5 gallons in and it started right up. This is dangerous because the fuel light doesn't come on and there is no warning when the car will shut down. Losing power brakes/steering unexpectedly creates a serious hazard in itself. I know keep the tank above 1/2 because below that I'm rolling the dice. Hopefully Nissan will do the right thing and fix the issue since there seems to be quite a few of these.

I made a right at a stop sign and as I was completing the turn all power to engine was lost. I had just bought the van 6 days prior to failure. My gas reading was at just below half tank. I could turn the key and the engine would turn over but not catch all the way. Lost all power steering and braking systems too. Very dangerous and upsetting had my children been with me. I had to have someone hood a chain to my front end to get the van out of the middle of the street. No warratny, only service contract to repain.

I bought a 2007 Nissan Quest with 138000 miles and a full tank of gas according to the according to the needle. With just 130 driven in 5 days I lose all power steering and brakes on a busy road. After leaving my car at a mechanic shop for the weekend I came across my paperwork which included a campaign notice regarding the fuel gauge and that I should take my car to a dealership for them to replace once the parts become available at my cost to me for repair. After finding out there was absolutely no gas in the van I went to the dealership and they state there is nothing they can do. Even though I have written notice that they will repair at no cost for labor and parts they will not honor their notice. I must now pay out of my own pocket.

Fuel gauge said there qas 1/4 tank gas when engine stalled. Had towed to to dealership and was told out of gas. Happened again 4 wweks later.

The vehicle has ran completely out of fuel two times with the fuel gauge reading slightly below the half tank mark on both occasions. This happened at interstate speeds of around seventy miles per hour. The vehicle, all at once, lost total power and it was very difficult to navigate it off of the roadway safely. I contacted Nissan about this issue and they told me that they are aware of this problem but that there is no current recall and nothing that they can do about it at this time. My family and I may be killed the next time this happens, so no rush Nissan. This is a huge safety risk that needs attention quickly.

The problem has occurred three times. The first time I was driving and the vehicle lost power and the motor quit while driving in traffic on a 4 lane highway. I coasted the Nissan Quest off of the 4 lane highway and onto the shoulder of the road. Once stopped I turn the ignition switch off and then on again. The amps were good, the fuel gauge was above 1/4 tank. I tried to crank it but it would not start, as if it was out of gas. The fuel display showed 70 miles to empty. Fuel was acquired, put in the Quest and it cranked up. The 2nd incident happened the same, with fuel gauge showing 1/4 tank & the distance to empty was 68 miles. I was left stranded on a roadside again. The third time was the same as the first two times. I wasn't stranded the third time because I now have to drive with a filled portable gas can in the cargo area. I contacted Nissan north America & even though there is an agreed voluntary recall for this same problem with the 2007 Nissan Quest, I was told that my 2007 Nissan Quest was not recalled for the confirmed problem.

Not sure of the milage it's been happening since before getting a notice from Nissan in Jan 2015. . . . . We then went and had the VIN scanned at a Nissan dealership and was told it wqsn't part of the issue yet we have the issue occuring and got the notice in the mail from Nissan. Their advice of keeping it at 1/2 a tank doesnt work. It's been at a full tank and gauge still read as e with the light on. Nissan needs to be held accoutable and fix this issue. It also makes the vehicale throw a check engine light which will make the car fail smog.

Driving approximately 45 mph, and engine stalled and cut out. Lost power steering and power brakes. Needed to make evasive moves to avoid accident and get off road. Car ran out of gas. Dashboard fuel gauge said 1/4 tank of gas. Onboard trip display said zero (0) distance till empty, but I do not use this. I had to get assistance and 1 put less than 1 gallon gas in car. Fuel gauge did not move and still says there is 1/4 tank gas, while trip computer registered above 0 dte. This is extremely dangerous to lose control of vehicle unexpectedly. I have been driving for over 27 years and have never run out of gas and have always relied on the gauge, not the trip computer. Please investigate and let me know what I should do. This is a very dangerous situation. I had 2 kids in the car, and I am grateful my wife was not driving, as she would have been unable to steer or apply brakes in such a situation when loss of power occurs under this situation. The trip computer can be wrong, but the fuel gauge on the dash board should always be correct. Basic principle.

During normal driving conditions, van suddenly had engine shut down. Loss of power steering and power brakes as engine was off. Fuel gauge indicated that the fuel tank was approximately 1/4 remaining, but in fact the fuel tank was empty. This has happened 2 times causing the engine to run out of fuel, while the fuel gauge indicated that approximately 1/4 tank of gas. Both occurred driving under normal conditions and caused a loss of normal operator controls as all power systems cut off when engine is not running. This is an unsafe situation to drive a vehicle being given inaccurate fuel information.

Fuel tank gauge never moves from the e position. New fuel sending unit installed and doesnt change gauge.

Was driving near my home when the vehicle engine simply shut off and stopped working and I had to coast to a stop on the side of the street. Fortunately I was at low speed (about 25mph) and not in a situation where the hazard might have been higher, since the power brakes also shut off with the motor. I didn't understand what happened since my fuel gauge was showing a little over 1/4 tank full and the car would not turn back on. Afterwards I figured that it was probably lack of gas, even though the indicator still showed over 1/4 tank full, so I went to get a some gas and put 5 gallons in the vehicle and it started immediately, on first try.

Was driving vehicle at approximately 45 mph when the engine suddenly stalled and all power controls were lost such as power steering and brakes. Car was carefully maneuvered to the side of the roadway. After a thorough inspection it was found that the vehicle was out of fuel however the fuel gauge read just little below 1/4 of a tank. It was brought to my attention via the internet that this is a common problem with this vehicle and I also believe that the situation of losing all functions of the vehicle suddenly could have caused an accident and was a threat to safety.

I was driving on an interstate highway at about 65 mph when my van started decelerating. I tried pressing on the gas, but the van would not pick up speed. I pulled over to the shoulder and the van rolled to a stop and would not start again. I did not know what the problem was and had it towed to a repair facility. The problem was that I ran out of gas even though my fuel gauge showed that I had one-quarter of a tank. I checked online and see that there have been other complaints with the same problem.

While driving the vehicle at approximately 35mph the engine suddenly stopped running and the vehicle drifted to a stop. All attempts t restart the vehicle failed. The gas gauge indicated that the fuel tank had approximately 1/3 of a tank of gas remaining. I spent just a few minute searching the internet for people having similar problems with the same make and model (2007 Nissan Quest). The search uncovered lots of complaints about faulty gas gauges indicating improper fuel levels. So I poured a few gallons of gas into the fuel system and the vehicle started. I have since had the vehicle quit running 2 more times under similar circumstances. Each time more fuel is added and the vehicle starts with no trouble.

On August 20, 2014 while driving back from va to MD on i495, our 2007 Nissan Quest began to stalled and then the engine shuts off completely while we were in the middle of this highway. Luckily, there weren't much traffic and we were able to pulled over to the emergency lane with the vehicle's momentum. We also notice the steering wheel began to stiffen up where it was becoming difficult to steer. At which time, we also notice that the fuel gauge had about 1/4 of a tank of fuel left and the display on the dashboard had indicated 72 miles left before empty. Upon coming to a complete stop on the emergency lane, we tried to restart the car several times, but it wouldn't start. After a couple of tries, the fuel gauge suddenly dropped to e (empty) and the dashboard monitor displayed all stars (*****) which indicates empty fuel. After waiting for 1 hour, my friend came with his car and we went to a gas station and bought a container with 2 gallon of gas which we put it into the our Quest. At which time the car started normal and we were on our way. This was a very frightening and dangerous experience for us. Since the incident, the fuel gauge has been acting up and giving us false readings. Just last week when we filled up our car, the fuel gauge was displaying empty.

While traveling on a I - 94 west freeway the van lost power and stopped. The gas gauge showed the tank was quarter full, however there was no gas in the tank. The incident happened on a busy freeway, and there were children in the car. This is the 3rd time this has happened on the same vehicle. I had to call aaa to bring some gas. Based on what I've read online - this is not an isolated occurrence. Nissan has recalled cars with similar problems but not the Quest model. This is a very dangerous issue and could have resulted in deaths of my family.

Gas gauge read that I had 1/4 of tank of gas. I did not have any. I had to call aaa for assistance. Since then, my gas gauge has not been accurate. I will need to have it serviced.

My 2007 Nissan Quest stalled in the middle of traffic because the gas tank was empty, even though the gauge indicated that there was over 1/8 of a tank or over 2 1/2 gallons equal to 50 to 70 miles to empty.

Was traveling at 65 mph on a three lane highway when vehicle began to buck and decrease in speed. Fuel gauge indicated 1/4 tank (60 miles to empty). Needed to steer into shoulder lane of highway to assess the situation. Determined the fuel gauge was in accurate, resulting in empty tank.

Had just left work on my way home fuel gauge read just over a quarter tank of gas and hud on dash said 90 miles left til fill up. Stopped at an intersection with a really sharp left turn,signaled left went into turn at about 20 mph car stalled all lights on dash lit up steering wheel and brakes became almost inoperable causing me to almost crash into several parked cars. I have 4 sons ages 3-16. What if they were in the car?or my wife or mother and that happened on the highway at 55 mph?of course I had to call for tow to mechanic costing more money. Was told by mechanic to begin investigating possible recalls and or factory problems with this model make and year of fuel gauge/fuel level systems. Have been looking into it for several months now and see that I am not alone in this. Now my inspection time is approaching and check engine light is on due to this problem so there's no way I will pass inspection with this present. What should I do?!what is my next move?!call Nissan?Nissan should be responsible for this and work with customers on fixing/replacing these faulty parts. I am planning to call them ASAP to find out what can they do,wish me luck.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the engine immediately stalled. The contact stated that the fuel gauge reading indicated adequate fuel level when the fuel tank was actually empty. The vehicle restarted after the contact filled the fuel tank. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the problem and they informed the contact that the failure was under investigation. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

My wife was driving the car with kids in back, at traffic signal she stopped at left lane turn left. When left green signal was given, she released brakes and couldn¿t move as intended. She described to me that engine was running and as if all breaks were engaged. She made slowly left turn dragging car and stopped at right side of the road and called me asking that she is unable to move the car and engine is still running. She also informed that car is at safe area of road and could able to get out and walk to kid¿s activity school. Upon arrival at the location, couldn¿t start and called for aaa help. Aaa tested battery and it was okay; fuel gauge was showing slightly below â½ tank mark. Asked aaa to tow the car to my home as it was getting late in evening. While looking for details on internet for possible causes I noticed possibilities of wrong fuel indication. So added a gallon fuel and car started and worked normally. I am planned to switch the car with my wife to test this car next few week for safe operation.
