4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2021

The transmission shudders, jerks, whines, roars loudly. Yes it’s available for inspection. I was driving up a hill with my grand children in the car, and it started shuddering. Didn’t seem to be getting gas at all. The tank was full. Then it started rolling backwards down the hill. Needless to say my grand children were scared to death as I was also. No I haven’t spoken to anyone about the problem, as I don’t know who to talk to? nobody has looked at it yet. I figured the transmission went, so I haven’t bothere$ with reaching out, until a friend told me hers did the exact same thing. So we looked it up. Yes it seemed to be shuddering before but never lost power and rolled backwards. There were no warning lights, or signs of it quitting. There was no acceleration at all. Just slowly lost power. It was still running but when you push the gas pedal you got nothing. Not even the reving of the motor!03/29.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2019

Started vehicle and drove well. Stopped at an intersection and when it was my turn to go car rpms were high but car wouldn't move. The light change and I found myself in the middle of the intersection and car would not move. I took my foot of gas and then it just sped up and I had to use the breaks to make it slow down. Also it would slowdown in the middle of the highway which is dangerous cause speed limit was 70mph and I couldn't move the car to get it out of the way.

11 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2018

Takata recall, the Nissan I purchased from fuccillo Nissan in latham, new york, was defective with every issue, however Nissan refuse to honor any recalls. Their most recent extended warranty, indicates a replacement of the evap canister and tubing, however upon arriving at the Nissan dealer he told e my car was old and it only covers the tube. The Nissan manufacturer is a joke, I dealt with a woman who literally failed to inform me that Nissan never reported that I was the new owner of the car. Hence last year my car literally rolled backwards while I attempted to drive up hill, right into traffic , potential to be a deadly accident , noting the variety of complaints I believe that their waiting for someone to die. Fucillo Nissan refused to replace the transmission, instead the sealed it . Two weeks later the same thing happened on the highway, and of course they refused to fix it trying to explain, how a cvt transmission works, and then he went as far as saying I have to get used to it. Nissan is a joke and as long as they could get away with selling defective cars and not honoring their very own recalls they will, billy fucillo needs his licence snatched, their a bunch of crooks, whom are dangerous to the public.

20 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

I got this car from my daughter in may. This problem started in June, stopped for a while & now in winter (January) it came back & is getting worse to the point I won't drive on freeway anymore. Decelerates at freeway speeds combined with jerking motion. Also does not always accelerate (dogs out) while pressing on gas from complete stop or trying to accelerate in slow traffic causing cars behind to slam on brakes.

21 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2017

After driving for a while, my Nissan cvt transmission stops working properly. When I take off from a stop at a light or intersection, the car initially takes off for a few feet, but then the transmission stalls, and the car literally creeps through the intersection at a snails pace. Very dangerous when it occurs in a busy intersection. You do not know it is happening until you are already in the intersection as it feels normal when you first hit the gas, and then it goes into what is best described as a very low gear. Someone is going to die from this. Nissan is aware of this issue and extended its warranty on the cvt to 10 years and 120,000 mile, but never issued a recall that I am aware. Unfortunately, this issue did not occur with my vehicle until after the mileage stated. It may have to do with transmission fluid temperature and a fail safe mode. There is discussion of such on the internet.

22 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2016

After highway driving when stopped at a traffic light vehicle has no power upon resuming driving.

23 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2016

It's been going on for a year now. The dealership I bought the car from couldn't figure out the problem. The car revs up with no applied acceleration. It will slow down to 45 mph and I'll have to pull off the road cut it off and restart the car and it'll straighten out for another 30-45 miles and repeat. It's pretty dangerous bc the first time it happened I was on the interstate. I've read a lot of forums and it seems to be an ongoing problem in most Nissans. Not just the Rogue. I feel as if this problem should be on immediate recall.

24 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2016

Car will loose acceleration when driving on a flat highway for no known reason, it will go from 70 mph to 30 pmh and struggle to move. Pressing acceslerator is like stepping on air. Going up a slight incline car will loose acceleration, after 20-30 miles driven will loose acceleration, at stop signs, red lights will loose acceleration when going from brakes to acceleration nothing will happen car will not move. Car has been driven less than 5k miles since purchased used from dealership. Also cannot use overdrive mode, engine noise is very loud and grinding rough sounds are heard . If using cruise control acceleration issues plus engine sound will both turn up at same time. This is both highway driving, city street driving and always when car is in motion.

25 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2016

My car had a lost power driving back from rocky mountain national park and I was forced to pull over and turn off my car it started up and I was able to make it back safe but I think it has something to do with the cvt. I really sucks and I don't feel safe driving my car right now.

27 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2015

I had a Nissan Rogue cvt transmission issue last year. Our car had multiple acceleration issues that we got lucky we didn't have any accidents. One of many issue was on labor day weekend we decided to go on a vacation to relax after days and weeks of hard work at the office. Again our vacation was cut short. It took us 6 hours to drive a 2. 5 hour drive. I had to stop, let the transmission cool down and drive again with a speed of less than 50mph sometimes taking the streets to keep the speed down. I took the car to the dealer, under warranty, they wanted to do a few minor services. They told me that they had fixed the problem and that there wouldn't be any more issues. It happened again and again. Finally, I opened a case through Nissan and got my car a new transmission. The transmission has starting problems again and I am really tired of this. I got a call from my wife this morning that she was in the middle of the intersection waiting to make a left turn. She had loss of acceleration right in the middle of the intersection as the light turned red and and cars from the other side started to go straight to her honking their horn. She said that the car would not move and finally started to move very slowly. She was terrified and crying. I am really tired of this and really its unacceptable. Our rouge is our only car and my wife drives it to and from work and it is at this point that I can not accept this issue anymore, it is a danger to my family. I have had it with this car.

28 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2015

Transmission safety issue - while driving on the highway my vehicle completely stopped pulling. We were in heavy traffic and my daughter was a passenger in the back seat. There was no warning before this happened, no warning lights at all! my daughter and I could have easily been seriously injured or killed.

29 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2015

On an out of town trip to hereford texas from ft. Worth TX. , vehicle would not go above 60 mph halfway to my destination. After several trips to the dealership, the transmission was replaced. Transmissions is acting up again after 40k miles and cant be trusted to be on the road as the you can step on the gas all the way and speed will not exceed 60 mph. It seems to mess up when on longer drives of over 30 minutes when the transmission gets hot.

30 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2015

This is my second transmission the first one warrantee cover it but now I have no warrantee and the cost is about $4,000 this is not what I expected from a good company name. The vehichle was stationart when it happen it did not have power to move.

31 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2015

The cvt (continuously variable transmission on my car exploded when the seals failed (a defect common to these cars) going about 60 mph on the way through kansas to colorado. It almost caused an accident as it led to the car smoking and an extreme loss of speed while in traffic. Nissan knows there are defects with this transmission and yet continue to put them in the Nissan Rogues.

32 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2015

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Rogue. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle started to lose acceleration power and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission valve body needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000. The VIN was not available.

33 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2015

On a road trip from los angeles to las vegas, encountering normally hot temperatures, and after several hours of driving, the car lost power could only attain speeds of 50 mph or less up hills. This is a clear and present danger to the occupants when other cars are easily going 70 - 75 mph. If you pull off the road, the cars have a tendency to lurch forward and with dangerously poor acceleration. From reading the car forums, this is a known problem with this particular model, where the cvt transmission apparently over-heats and puts the car into "limp" mode. The fix has been to replace the transmissions and install an additional transmission cooler, however many dealers try to charge the customer for the cooler, and the Nissan factory is now hesitant to replace the transmissions even though their longevity and reliability has undoubtedly been compromised if the over-heating problem was experienced. There should be a mandatory recall demanded by the ntsb before someone is killed or injured due to this lack of acceleration. The problem is difficult to reproduce at the dealer because it involves a multi-hour road trip and hills. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed, please.

34 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2015

After driving nearly 50 miles on the highway, I got off the exit and stopped at a stop sign. Once it was clear I tried to accelerate but due to some kind of power loss the vehicle would not move. The vehicle lost power and the rpm's dropped under 1000. After a few minutes the power returned to normal and I drove to my original destination. This is the third time this has personally happened to me in this vehicle and I would like to report it so it does not happen to anyone else.

35 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2015

I was driving on I-5 from los angeles traveling about 65mph. I had been driving for about 55min when my vehicle rpm's started to increase and my mph's started to decrese. I tried to push the gas pedal down to accelerate but just the rpm's would rev up and car kept lossing speed. I had to pull over various times and let the car sit while off for about 20-25 min before I could drive safely again. This only lasted for about an hour at the most before I would have the same problem again and have to pull over to let the car sit for a while. Also I checked all fluids when I pulled over and everything was at optimal level as required. The car was not over heating either.
