1 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2019

Car started stutter at acceleration and gear changes. At low speed as I was accelerating through an intersection, suddenly there was no power at all after a burning smell. Diagnostics show the transmission has failed at 89000 miles. Reminiscent of the cvt transmission failures in other years that have been recalled.

2 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Nissan Rogue. While driving highway speeds, the vehicle decelerated on its own. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and the vehicle shut off. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but it would not go forward or in reverse. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the continuously variable transmission failed. The vehicle was currently at the independent mechanic awaiting repairs. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 100,000.

3 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2018

At around 92,000 miles (exactly a month after my 90,000 mile service at a Nissan dealership) on 11/15/2018, the transmission failed on an exit ramp of I-40 at lebanon, TN. The car would lurch and go forward so I was able to get off the exit ramp and into a parking lot. Aaa towed car to Nissan cookeville where they said a low pump pressure caused the transmission to fail. They replaced this transmission with a rebuilt transmission and I was able to drive the 150 miles back home. On 11/29/2018, while sitting at a red light after pulling off I-140 in alcoa, TN, I pressed the accelerator and my car would not go. I was sitting in the middle lane at 5:30pm on a dark, rainy Thursday night. I had to call 911. It took a police officer 10 to 15 minutes to get there. The area where I was is right off I-140 exit ramp. I ended up backing traffic up on an interstate because my car would not go. Thankfully, no one wrecked into me. Since I could not tow my car 150 miles back to cookeville, I took it to the alcoa dealership. Where I was told they would not honor the replaced transmission from the cookeville Nissan dealership. So, I am out over $4,000, have no transportation, and have no income to buy a replacement vehicle because of the $4,000 I spent 2 weeks ago on another transmission. I am terrified of cvt transmissions. I am sickened that I have no resources to help me at least fight the $4,000 for the transmission that failed 2 weeks after being put in my car. This car is incredibly dangerous to drive, as evidenced by the fact that I was blocking traffic in a major intersection, in the rain, at night, during heavy traffic. I do not have the documentation with me as it is with my car at the alcoa dealership, but I will be willing to provide once I am able to get to my car.

5 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Nissan Rogue. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle began to slow down. The accelerator pedal was applied, but the vehicle failed to move while the engine was still running. The contact placed the vehicle in reverse and it began to wobble. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed a leak coming from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was able to restart, but failed to respond. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact called supreme Toyota of hammond (1415 s morrison blvd, hammond, la 70403, (877) 840-7756) and was informed that the warranty had expired and the transmission failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 133,384.

6 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2018

The cvt transmission on the vehicle failed at just under 115k miles. I followed the maintenance plan provided by the manufacturer and had the transmission inspected at a dealer as part of that maintenance schedule. The transmission failed in rush hour traffic on a busy city street, and there were no check engine or other warning lights in advance of the car suddenly struggling to accelerate and jerking to a stop when trying to brake. This happened in rush hour traffic with a child in the car, which was extremely dangerous. Even after I was able to coax the car off the road and into a parking lot, jerking and practically stalling along the way, there were no warning lights or other indicators that subsequently came on to indicate there was any potential trouble with the vehicle. The dealer service advisor could only say the transmission suffered an internal failure and could not explain why it happened, what caused it or how the transmission passed prior inspection fewer than 30k miles prior to sudden failure. It is fortunate we were not rear-ended when the acceleration failed and that I was able to get off of the road so that me and my child were not in further danger on the road. This transmission is hazardous to have in vehicles as it can bring one to a stop almost immediately with no warning at all, and the manufacturer can't even explain why or what happened. They also will only replace the failed cvt with another cvt, which I believe is unsafe so I won't be having it repaired. The Nissan cvts should not be on the road. They are as dangerous to others in traffic with one of their vehicles when the transmission fails as they are to the owner/occupants of that Nissan vehicle.

7 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Nissan Rogue. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle lost all power and could not accelerate. There were no warning indicators illuminated during the failure. The vehicle was taken to jack ingram Nissan (227 eastern blvd, montgomery, al 36117) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 124,000.

Failure Date: 02/14/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Nissan Rogue. While driving 65 mph, the contact noticed that the vehicle stalled and went into neutral. The contact pulled off the highway and turned off the vehicle. When the contact attempted to restart the vehicle and shift into the drive gear, the vehicle would not shift. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (crowley Nissan, 1451 farmington Ave, bristol, CT 06010) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer stated that there were issues with previous vehicles of the same make and model. Due to the year of the contact's vehicle, it did not qualify. The failure mileage was 103,000.

9 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2018

Sept 2017 I paid sandy sansing Nissan 853. 00 to replace my defective cvt jatco transmission that failed. Now January 28, 2018 with less than 6000 miles on new transmission I was driving interstate 70 mph posted speed in heavy rain when the car began to go up in rpms revving before it quickly began to lose speed. Same thing as before. The roads were slick due to 24 hours of rainfall placing myself in a deadly situation. I'm not willing to risk my life or the life of my children and husband for a known defect Nissan has been aware of, and sued for numerous models already and yet still installing defective cvt transmissions with only a 12,000 mile or 12 month warranty on their replacement models which states they know they are trash and still deceive their customers. Nissan owners should be aware of the death traps they are driving and Nissan should be held liable for their defective products they continue to sell to consumers without disclosing the potential loss of life that could occur.

12 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2017

My car has 86k miles on it. I was driving on I-95. The speed limit was 75 mph, I was driving 75 mph. Suddenly, the rpm's started going out of control. Then I lost pick up. I managed to drive the car to the nearest exit. I then had to cross over a busy 4 lane state road in order to get to a safe parking place. The car died as I was attempting to cross over the 4 lanes. A wonderful police officer finally pushed my car to safety. He guessed my transmission had failed. He said it happens all of the time in my type of car. He said the crv transmissions were no good. The transmission had failed. Sheehy Nissan in mechanicsville, va, the closest dealer, said there were no recalls on the transmission and the cost of a new transmission was $4,600. I had to get an auto body shop to install a transmission from a new car that had been in an accident , for $2660, as I could not afford $4,600. This transmission should not have failed at 86k miles. I am enclosing two bills; one from the dealership for diagnostic fees and one from the autobody shop that did the work.

13 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2017

The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Rogue. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle independently lost power and failed to accelerate above 5 mph without warning. In addition, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle jerked forward. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,153.

14 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2017

With low miles on my car I had a complete cvt transmission failure without warning. It started with one bump backing up. I pulled out and had power loss for a short while. When I tried to pull out into traffic again, I almost got hit and the car bucked as I crossed the road and tried to make it to a nearby parking lot. I could only go about 10 mph and it felt like the front end was going to drop as it bucked down the road. When I made it to the parking lot, it wouldn't move at all and it had to be pulled onto a flat bed. The transmission shop, recommended a new transmission because it would be cheaper than trying to rebuild the cvt transmission. As they tried to find a transmission for my vehicle, they said they found many that were pulled due to damage which told them the Nissan cvt transmission was junk. They recommended that I use it til the new warranty expired and then maybe sell the vehicle. I was the only driver of the car and babied it and changed the fluids and ended up trading the car on another as I could not trust the Rogue to be safe pulling into traffic as it failed us and almost got us hit. The car is sold, but I want it on record how dangerous the situation was when the cvt transmission went out without any warning beforehand.

15 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2016

Nissan has had and continues to have transmission problems, they did a recall for transmission failure up to year 2009. I have a 2011 Nissan Rogue with 80,000 miles and I just received a call saying that my transmission needs to be replaced. This cvt transmission has always had problems and Nissan knows this but they wont and know one in the govt will do anything to hold them accountable.
