1 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2019

My cars transmission is making a weird sound when I turn it in and while me driving it. I was driving on the highway at about 60 mph when suddenly the acceleration dropped down to 20-25 mph in traffic with other cars speeding toward me but when I try and accelerate, the rpm go up, but nothing happens. This is a serious safety issue, as my transmission failed in the middle of traffic, with no warning putting myself, my family and others at the highway in grave danger. I went to mechanics they told me that I have a cvt transmission problem and that Nissan is fully aware of the problem, this should be a recall this problem is putting people's lives at risk.

2 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2019

The cvt transmission failed at 113,000 miles while we were driving on the freeway which resulted in us almost getting into multiple accidents. We had gotten the engine serviced every 3,000 miles for the past five years so the failure was not due to neglect.

3 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2019

Nissan installed defective cvt transmissions in several vehicles between 2010-2016. My 2012 Nissan Rogue is included in that. I am now being told that I need a new transmission, and Nissan is refusing to replace. It. My vehicle starts fine, but the transmission has failed. After looking online, I've found numerous other complaints of the same issue, and I feel there needs to be a further investigation, and recall on this cvt transmission. The vehicle starts, but when you try and accelerate, the rpms go up, but nothing happens, then it will screech and lurch forward. I had to have it towed to the dealership, who confirmed that it was a problem with the transmission. The salesperson at the dealership advised me that Nissan was aware of the problem with the older cvt transmissions, and have fixed it in the new 2019 models. This is a serious safety issue, as my transmission failed in the middle of traffic, with no warning. 4 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2018

I was driving on the highway at about 60 mph when suddenly the acceleration dropped down to 10-20 mph in traffic with other cars speeding toward me. I tried to accelerate but could not -- putting myself and fellow motorists in grave danger. I could barely make the car go 10 to 20 mph to make it to an off ramp to try to get to safety. My 2012 Nissan Rogue transmission failed. There is a repeated history of transmission failure by Nissans including the Rogue. Nissan is aware of the problem and extended warranty to cover some years and models for this problem. They have not covered others yet there are repeated complaints. Nissan is fully aware of the problem yet has put myself and other motorists at risk. I called the nearest Nissan repair service center to tell them a tow truck would be brining my Nissan there. I barely started to explain what happened and immediately the service center person said he knew what it was the transmission and asked for my VIN so he could see if it was covered by the extra warranty Nissan granted some models. It did not. It will cost $5,400 to replace transmission and complete repairs which I will ask the service center to complete. However, a recall should be placed on 2012 Nissan Rogues for this issue. This problem is putting people's lives at risk.

5 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2018

Transmission failed after only 88000 miles on a city street.

6 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2018

In 2016 I purchased a 2012 Nissan Rogue from a dealership with 80,000 miles. After three years (107,000 miles)the transmission blew out. My wife was driving on to the ramp of i85 in GA, vehicle in motion, when the transmission failed. I contacted Nissan to resolve this issue as they told me that unless it showed neglect on my behalf, they would they be willing to help. They explained to me to bring the Rogue to he nearest dealership to do a diagnostics test. When I went to turn on the car to take to dealership, the car would not drive. The car was only able to drive in reverse. I had to call a tow truck to tow it to the dealership. After about a week of the vehicle sitting in the Nissan dealership, Nissan consumer affairs contacted me back as they made a decision to deny helping me. This is completely unacceptable as the car is only 6 years old. I have researched the history of Nissan Rogue and it seems that they have had issues with this in the past. They informed me that my car was no longer under warranty and the total expense would be my duty. This car is not safe to drive. I was informed by Nissan consumer affairs to file a complaint as to explain what happened. I know that this has been a problem with Nissan in the past years. Nissan should be responsible for making this car is to drive and built to last. Nissan should stand behind their product.

7 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2018

I purchased my 2012 Nissan Rogue on 6/13/17. It had 63,000 miles on it. On 6/28/18 a year into ownership my cvt transmission went out while on the interstate taking my daughter to her state softball tournament. Had it towed to my mechanic an hour away to be told the transmission had to be replaced. After spending $4900 on a new transmission fast forward a year later starting in June of 2019 my 4 year old daughter and I were at a stop sign trying to cross a busy highway after checking the road was clear to go across my vehicle suddenly lost power and wouldn't accelerate so here we sit in the middle of the highway with cars barreling toward us at 65 mph not able to move! my first thought was how am I gonna get myself out and un strap my 4 year old out of her car seat before these cars kill us!! thankful after putting the pedal the floor my vehicle finally crept across the intersection to safety. This has happened 24 times in the last 3 months and the mechanic can't replicate the problem no warning lights at all. He said it's another bad cvt transmission?! how can a year old transmission fail? and how can two cvt transmissions fail in the same vehicle twice?! the answer is it can't unless it's defective I paid $4900 for a transmission that did the same thing a year later after I replaced it! it sits in my driveway not being driven because it's a death trap!! I don't want me or my children killed! Nissan come clean before many people are killed due to your defective transmissions!.

8 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2018

Cvt transmission failure. As I was driving on the parkway his car will just slow down to a crawl causing a dangerous driving condition. The car will barely move and many other vehicles have come very close to hitting me due to the slow speed that the car will go. Complained to Nissan but since car is 11 months past warranty was told they will not help even though this is a know problem with these cars.

9 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2017

The transmission failed after 154,000 miles on the vehicle. Car bucked a few times, then stopped moving. The front axle is broken. Nissan consumer affairs opened a case, had me pay to tow the car to their dealer, pay for a diagnosis, confirmed the transmission failed, then denied the claim based on mileage which I provided to them up front. The $265 towing and diagnosis fee should have been avoided entirely.

10 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

Vehicle had cvt transmission failure at 90,000 miles. Car speed uncontrollable between slow or too fast on the highway. Nissan dealer indicated transmission was failing, but would not replace it. I filed with Nissan consumer services to check vehicle since cvt transmission failures are being repaired by other car manufacturers. Nissan has refused to address the issue and mechanic agreed this is a failure on the company's side. I had to replace the transmission at a cost of $6,000 and there are still issues with the boot and front case transfers that are not working properly. I'm requesting for Nissan to issue a recall against faulty cvt transmissions and replace these since these are dangerous on the highway.

11 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2016

The cvt transmission overheats and begins to whine. Nihello, mr. Rebelo: thank you for writing about your concerns about your Nissan. The ntsb doesn't handle recalls and associated vehicle safety issues of that nature. However, the national highway traffic safety administration does. . Read more...

12 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2016

Cvt failed on Nissan 2012 Rogue at 72650 miles disabling vehicle in the hov lane on the highway. Service bulletin on cvts on years 2010 or older extended warranty to 120,000 miles (because of failures?). Concern is whether Nissan actually corrected cvt issues on latter year models. Never had a transmission fail with so few miles.

13 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2015

2012 Nissan Rogue cvt transmission failed while accelerating on a 2 lane merge from one interstate onto another putting the occupants at risk while attempting to get to the side of the road. Nissan has a long standing issue with the cvt transmission that allegedly was resolved after a redesign. Nissan acknowledged the issue (not covered by warranty d/t mileage but declined to apply an extended warranty that was in place for earlier models). Dealer repaired at a cost of 1/4 of the vehicle cost was for a rebuild, warranty for this only covers 1 year/12k. Not much comfort regarding longevity or personal safety within this vehicle.
