The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights unexpectedly flashed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.
Car was going 50 mph and suddenly lost capacity to accelerate due to transmission issue.
Vehicle shut down a few times at low speed.
Vehicle has plume of blue smoke each time it turns on, burning oil. Was informed by mechanic that it is a bad piston ring, which is common with this vehicle’s engine. It will eat through a full engine of oil in two months. 4k-10k fix. Car has 71k miles on it; under 10k miles put on it a year. Gets regular oil changes based on typical recommendation for a low mileage vehicle. Oil is checked regularly. This is in addition to a bad intake fan that needed replacing and cost 1. 5k that others have been complaining of where the car would severely overheat.
Check engine light comes on and then the engine sputters as the car slowly shuts off. Safety at risk because it happened while I was on highway.
I am getting p0101 and p0102 error code related to mass or volumn air flow sensor.
My car engine randomly shut down while in drive and would not drive on two occasions. Nissan cannot find any evidence that anything is wrong with my car. They refuse to assist despite this being a known issue. They told me I should pay to take it to another Nissan dealership to pay for another diagnostic test. My vehicle’s engine will shut off while driving and I don’t know what the cause is. There are no vehicle warnings such as a check engine light to let me know a problem exists. I am terrified that my car will shut off with my child and his friends in the car.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle lost automotive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was scanned with an obd2 scanner with a transmission sensor failure. In addition, several days later, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost automotive power. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the road, where an independent mechanic arrived at the scene and diagnosed the vehicle. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to a local garage. The local dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Have had this car for over a year and have been dealing with it constantly going into limp mode randomly throughout the day, usually when driving in stop and go traffic. Prior to going into limp mode (won't shift out of first gear), it lags for about 5 seconds while pressing the acceleration pedal and does not move. It's a huge safety issue when having to turn with oncoming traffic. I've taken the car to the dealer multiple times and Nissan refuses to acknowledge that there is any issue. When scanning with an obd2 scanner, there are no codes associated with transmission issues. Transmission fluid has been flushed and replaced more then once since owning the car. On bad days, my car has gone into limp mode up to 6 times in one day. I've read this is a common problem with this year and model of car yet there is no recall for the cvt or cooling system for the transmission fluid. Mechanics can't seem to figure out a solution and I'm stuck with a car that has almost caused me to be in multiple accidents due to the hesitation/lag randomly when accelerating. I fear my transmission is going to go out every day I drive this car and it is my only car sadly.
Pungent gasoline odor permeating throughout the vehicle.
Slipping and hard shifting of the transmission.
There’s a problem with the transmission. The car was not accelerating so my mechanic looked at it and determined it need a new transmission. The car only has 81,300 miles on it.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? transmission failed at 35k miles. I am getting the car fixed. We can ask Nissan dealership to share failed transmission for inspection how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? car was missing when driving and completely lost transmission. Car woudnt move when out in gear. I had to get car towed to mechanic and Nissan service center has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes, Nissan dealership confirmed that transmission has failed and needs to be replaced with new has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? yes, inspected by Nissan service center were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no warning messages in the car. The same day while driving, engine started missing. Same day, it stopped moving completely. Summary: extremely disappointed with my 2017 Nissan Rogue. At just 35,000 miles, the transmission failed due to a known manufacturing issue. Car will not drive anymore when put in gear. Despite a $277. 7 million settlement for defective cvt transmissions in vehicles like mine (2014-2018 Rogues), Nissan refuses to cover my full repair costs. Nissan, why aren’t you standing by your commitment to fix this? loyal customers deserve better! [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Radiator cooling fan defect that causes safety hazards and costly repairs. There's even an active class action claim filed against Nissan in tennessee federal court case no. [xxx]. My vehicle has been inspected by an independent service center who agreed and acknowledged the shop has experienced multiple customers who've had the same issue and repairs needed, with 2016-2020 Nissans especially. The dealership itself quoted $1800 for repairs! I'm a pretty proactive person, so caught the issue before my engine overheated and any warning lights turned on, but noticed when the radiator fan stopped turning once car was idled. Just want to make NHTSA aware of this ongoing issue and danger this can potentially be for Nissan consumers. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I reported to my dealer that my 2017 Rogue sport has been overheating and they stated that they were aware of an issue with the radiator fan. The car will be fine while driving, but if idle or in stop and go traffic, the engine will overheat. I am unable to use my car without fearing for it, shaking and overheating during warm weather if I am not constantly driving.
A/c dual compressor fan went out - causing the car to overheat. Nissan Rogue sport 2017 with 52k miles. Apparently this is a known issue that many Nissan Rogue users experience with the fan breaking on low mileage vehicles. Rogue sport 2017, 52k miles: the a/c was not blowing and I took it into firestone where they said it was a weak air compressor (this shouldn't be the case on a low mileage car). A week later the hood started smoking and upon inspection the coolant level was 1/4 tank and the engine malfunction light was on. I took it to and independent service center, bass auto (nolensville road, nashville TN) and they said it was not safe to drive (engine can overheat and catch fire) due to a radiator coolant fan (part # 214816ma0b or 214816ma0a) and that they have had to fix many of the these. The fan is responsible for blowing the cold air from the ac and keeping the engine cool so poses risk of engine failure. Looking at reddit and facebook groups there are many people that have this issue on low mileage Rogue/rogue sports (years 2017 - 2020) and there is a class action lawsuit that was filed in the state of tennessee for this issue (xxx et al vs. Nissan - link below). I am having to spend > $1k to repair and this is a common issue that is unsafe and not recalled. [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue sports. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the vehicle failed to accelerate immediately. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle approximately four times before being able to start the vehicle and accelerate as needed. The contact used google to research the failure and linked the failure to the continuously variable transmission (cvt). The contact became aware of how to reset the vehicle and pressed the parking brake, placed the vehicle in drive and then accelerated to drive the vehicle. After arriving to the residence, the contact attempted to reverse to park the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to reverse. The check engine warning light was illuminated. After repeating the reset procedure, the contact was able to start and drive the vehicle however, the vehicle was lagging while driving at slower speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the continuously variable transmission (cvt) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to pay half the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was 37,400.
I was driving on the 60fwy east, close to 57 south but my lights ( engine and tire were on ),when suddenly I lost the control and I hit on the wall. The steering wheel was a little hard and the mechanic told me my catalyst wasn't good( engine and tire sensor aren't working correctly ). I thought it was my last day because that freeway is a little hight. I imaged my car flying. Also I have 1 accident . I crashed one car but it wasnt my blame. The car lost the control. Now I have to pay but it is expensive for me.
My vehicle is starting to jerk at times. Doesn't do it all the time, but it is bad. When driving it will jerk, and if the speed is 45 mph and you hold it at that speed the steering wheel will shake. The engine doesn't sound right. I have had it checked and it is the transmission. Yes there's is a recall on it. But since no lights have come on the transmission can not be replaced. Something needs to be done before I am stranded some where. Don't know what the big deal is for you to fix it when you know there are problems with it.
Vehicle consistently loses power, very loud noise as it is revving up, no lights are on for warnings, sounds as if it is trying to change gears but will not. The a/c also quits working during small climbs or long trips or especially in hilly areas.
My daughters vehicle 2017 Nissan Rogue has been jerking for months now. No check engine has been on. I have been told it is likely a transmission problem after doing some research this has been an ongoing problem with the Nissan Rogue but no recall has been issued in the state of oklahoma. It also doesn’t help that it has over 100,000 miles now. This is not an affordable fix but Nissan needs to fix it and others who are having the issue before someone gets hurt or it causes accidents if a recall and settlement has been made in other states all states should have been included Nissan knew this was a problem and failed to handle it accordingly.
Around 80,000 miles our car, when it's been driven about an hour, starts to hesitate when I escalate when slowed or stopped. It's about a 3 second hesitation that is very dangerous if I try to drive across a busy 4 lane road. I have come very close to being hit several times due to this hesitation. I am very aware there has been lawsuits in regards to this. I read in the lawsuit that Nissan put some sort of chip in the engine to allow it to last longer but it also causes this hesitation when the engine gets warm. In order to stop this, I have to literally shut the car off, back on, then this hesitation stops for awhile. It's as if the microchip has been rebooted or something when the car is shut off. I called the dealership here an they say they never heard of this but I find it hard to believe since others like me with this 2017 Rogue, have the same issues and some have paid for a new transmission. I cannot afford that especially when it's Nissan who is causing it. I did contact Nissan and they told me since the mileage is over 100,000 now they will do nothing. I haven't taken it to the dealer service after a conversation I had over the phone. I was treated unfairly and talked down to for being female. They spoke to me as if I was terribly ignorant. I told them I read about other people's issue with the Rogue from the class action suit. I didn't just read it off some web page. Besides, even if they diagnosed my car for what I have described, I don't have the money to replace a transmission and hope to get refunded from some lawsuit years from now. By then I could be dead in that car. Can't afford to get a new car. If you all don't take this seriously, I at least want it filed so that if something happens one of my final requests will to have my husband follow through with a lawsuit. We try to avoid driving situations because of this. Why won't Nissan just replace the microchip? what do I do?.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the vehicle hesitated and lost motive power. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle with exhaust manifold, air-fuel ratio sensor, and O2 sensor failures. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to voluntary emission recall campaign pc717, but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 90,000.
About a year after I had the car (2019), the a/c went out. We fixed it at the Nissan dealership. Periodically, the engine would stop when I went reversed. This mainly happened in the summer. About two years ago, the a/c went out again. I noticed both the stalling in reverse and the a/c not working (not sure if related). The engine stalled and smoke came out of the engine. We fixed the engine--basically saying that it was an a/c issue. Last year during the summer months, the same thing happened. We again, fixed the a/c. This year, it happened again.
The transmission is rattling and affecting the acceleration ability. It feels like the car is stuck in first gear.
As I was driving, steadily pressing on my gas, and I felt the car stopping. The car sounded like it was in neutral and I was pressing on the gas but it didn’t make a difference. I pulled over put it in park, then drive again. The problem persisted. I turned off the car and then it drove regularly. This has occurred 2 times already. I use premium gasoline and get oil changes regularly. This seems like a transmission problem. I’m very scared this might happen when I’m on a highway.
I was driving my car turning into driveway and the car suddenly shut off mid way. Second incident happened the following day. Turning into a driveway and the car shut off. Both times I put the car in park and pressed the start button and it started right up. Monthly prior during the winter the car shut off in very cold weather while coming to a rolling stop at red lights. This happened about a dozen times. I took to personal mechanic, they said they could not find anything wrong. He said let the car warm up more before driving. When I did so it did not shut off as often, but still did occur.
Every single time I drive my 2017 Nissan Rogue, it acts up at the worst times when I'm trying to cross a busy street with oncoming traffic, sometimes very high speed, I cannot get sufficient acceleration!! I have come so close to getting hit that now I am convinced, in a matter of "when", that I will be hit!! I am aware that you and Nissan are aware of the cvt being a problem that no one wants to take responsibility for. I'm keeping this report so "when I get hit" a lawsuit will be forthcoming. (even if I die) I've instructed family to sue if I parish.
After doing errands or driving for more then about 45 mins when I come to a stop light complete stop then try to go the car goes no we’re revs up but doesn’t go then all of a sudden jolts forward now it’s everyday when I drive to just drop kids at school almost got hit twice because car would not go . Also there is horrible grinding sound now coming from back end sounds like.
I was driving my 2017 rogué sport on the freeway and suddenly it began to jerk up and down speed and I tried to brake and the brake did not respond suddenly it accelerated and went off I could not brake and I could not control it and the weather did not help me it had rained and as you will understand, the car turns off and the brake doesn't work, we ended up in the retaining wall, we hit the front and reversed and we were stopped in the middle of the road. I tried to start the car twice and the third time it started and so on. I was able to get off the freeway at low speed and it kept pulling.
-engine light was on and Nissan ran a diagnostic and found the code number p0603 and needs a new ecm -this could cause an accident as the driver can loose control of vehicle at any moment causing the driver and others at high risk -the problem was confirmed by the dealer service center -the engine light was the only indicator and other private car auto body stated the battery needed replacement but Nissan ran a diagnostic to find it was the ecm.
