1 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 08/10/2025

I had purchased a brand new 2021 Nissan rouge sv awd in 2021. I am now at 46,000 miles and I have had all system lights on and off since purchase. The first started with back hatch around 20 miles, went to go get it taken care of and it disappeared. I have broke down with electrical issues twice now, with error code of 'warning malfunction', 'forward collision warning', 'air bag', 'forward collision light' and 'check engine" on dash. On Sunday August 10 2025, I was driving on the highway at 70 mph, and my vehicle slammed on the brakes automatically with kids in the car. Looking at the dashboard showed forward collision light, with no cars near me. I then went 35 mph to get off nearest exit. I made it home safely with minor issues to kids neck from the brake issue. Yesterday on August 13 2025 I went to my local supermarket to get milk, and the car wouldn't start after I went shopping and showed a different error of 'malfunction'. In the winter time the light of forward collision comes on, and I have no control over my vehicle at all. I then assumed I needed better tires and purchased them, however it made no difference. This SUV is very dangerous, and I am terrified to even drive it. The airbag light has now been on also, and in addition to yesterday's break down, the engine light is also on. I have an appointment again for my Nissan dealer now on Tuesday August 19 2025, and hoping this will be resolved. At 46,000 miles this should not be an issue, let alone danger my family. I also have videos, that won't allow upload here. Please help me.

2 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/19/2025

Summary of issue: while driving my 2021 Nissan Rogue sl using cruise control, a vehicle turned left in front of me. My Rogue beeped, disengaged cruise control, and abruptly lost acceleration without braking. This sudden loss of throttle caused my car to decelerate in the middle of the road during active traffic, nearly resulting in a collision. There were no warning lights or messages, and the issue did not resolve until I manually took control of acceleration. Safety concern: I rely on cruise control regularly, and this unexpected disengagement created a dangerous situation that compromised my ability to safely maintain speed and respond to surrounding traffic. I’m concerned this may be a fault within the adaptive cruise control system or a misinterpretation by the forward-facing sensors.

3 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/04/2025

While stopped at a stop light, I turned off adaptive cruise control. Upon the light turning green and accelerating to 10-15mph, the parking brake spontaneously engaged locking up the rear wheels bringing the car to a immediate, unexpected and jarring stop in moving traffic. The vehicle was a rental and was not inspected afterwards. No warning lights appeared on the dash warning of the parking brake engagement nor did any appear after the parking brake was fully engaged.

4 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/10/2025

There is a couple malfunction warnings that come on randomly and it disables the cruise control. It hasn’t affected my safety yet, but there is a possibility every time I drive my vehicle while those lights are on. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer and they’ve attempted a few things to repair it but it hasn’t been completely fixed. I have been told by the dealer that this is something that was fixed with the 2024 model per a recall but the 2023 models they haven’t been able to figure out yet. It’s been happening since I first got the vehicle. We bought it used.

5 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/07/2025

Dash displays message indicating forward driving aids are disabled due to "lane camera over temperature" on a frequent basis. This occurs even in below-freezing weather when the interior of the vehicle is cold. Adaptive speed control, aeb, lane departure, etc. , systems are disabled. A vehicle restart clears the error. Nissan is aware of this issue (reference their TSB reference number ntb22-088. ) even though this repeatedly occurs, the Nissan dealer claims it is normal behavior and will not take corrective action unless a dtc is found.

6 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 12/30/2024

Forward collision system turns off while driving causing vehicle to randomly jerk an slow down in traffic. Taken the vehicle in 4 times to have them look at and service center refuses to help me an give me any information on when there will be an update. Received an email for a recall made an appointment for said recall arrived at shop and my service was refused. Asked for documentation on service being refused an got told they could not give me that. After an hour of debating finally receive paper. Leaving store once again my cruise control turned off an vehicle jerks. All this has taken place at billion nissian in sioux falls. They are unwilling to assist me in anything for my vehicle. Have documented proof of all occasions and I am still refused service from the shop.

7 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 11/09/2024

My Rogue has had problems with the pro pilot adaptive cruise control kicking off at the most inopportune times on the highway since new. It's dangerous to be passing a semi and suddenly the cruise control stops working and the car immediately starts to slow down. Traffic behind me isn't expecting me to suddenly start slowing down without brake lights in a passing lane. I've been honked at and nearly rear-ended twice. I've had the car for nearly a year but keep reading of others with the same problem and no fix from Nissan. I waited to take it in for this problem hoping there would be a fix, but the dealer just states they can't reproduce the problem. Of course they can't; it's intermittent with no pattern. I can provide a repair invoice next week when I pick up the vehicle from the dealer.

9 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 08/10/2024

On Saturday [xxx] while driving on [xxx] while in cruise control mode and set approx. 71 mph I know that my right knee made minimal contact with keyfob and the engine seemed to shut down and the vehicle decelerated immediately, I had no desire to brake due to my seeing my speed was near 30 mph. Traffic was not directly behind and all I was trying to locate was the 4 way hazard to engage which having only recently purchasing [xxx] and I had driven maybe 60 miles I located but with seeing a couple of vehicles approaching and being in the #2 lane my steering was stiff with little chance to get over safely to the #1 lane or to the further left hov lane, I reached down w/ right hand and made very minimal contact with ignition/ keyfob area and the vehicle had power and was able to regain speed. I absolutely did not attempt to turn the key that was still fully in place. I can not say that other than making contact with no aggressive action or intent was I to believe the vehicle would again be running as it had prior and I proceeded the remainder of my trip (approx. 15-18 miles) with no further issues and without a clue other than I had been made aware of the recall prior to purchase and told it was not anything to be concerned with that the jackknife keyfob seemed to lock in the open position fine, and to just leave it in that position, which I did not agree with that opinion as I read about this safety issue and have brought up on at least 4 occasions prior to and after the sale. We were actually informed by the finance mgr. Upon signing there were no recalls on this vehicle, which we made him aware of and he commented that it would be nice if somebody would let him know that! and I informed sales person on two separate occasions as well asking that it receive the final Nissan remedy yet never being taken very seriously and now unhappy with this event when I that my knee making such slight contact is disturbing! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

10 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/31/2024

When adaptive cruise control is in use at set speed of 75mph, suddenly vehicle breaks to slow down to the speed of 55-60 mph and within seconds accelerates again to the set cruising speed. This happened at least three time in the last three days with no other vehicle ahead of me.

11 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/26/2024

I have reported to my dealer (the marlboro Nissan/MA on may 24, 2024 2:00pm) thedangerous situation that keeps my Rogue (VIN: jn1bj1crxkw322671) at a lowergear (the car cannot go more than 20 mph. . . In the highway this is very slow) afterstanding still in a traffi c jam for a while on a hot day (specially after a traffi c jam iscleared). I'm concerned this can cause an accident and Nissan is doing nothing toresolve this risky car issue. There is no indication in the dashboard and even thoughwe have reported this problem to the dealer twice, they have done nothing. Nissanshould be held accountable for not resolving this design/manufacturing issue. Additional.

12 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

13 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/08/2024

In first or second year of ownership the car spontaneously braked on 2 occasions. Both times after going over road damage. - I had no damage and thought related to rd condition, did not report. About 2 weeks ago chassis warning came on momentarily then malfunction error came on but went off for rest of day. Next day malfunction error for aeb system came on again and has remained on. I had trusted independent auto body shop computer person run scanner evaluation. Some 30 items lit up but 2 didnt clear suggesting possible wire harness. On line many customers noted difficulty finding the right dealer or repair shop the first time , often going to several before problem corrected, Nissan says all dealerships are independent and wont recommend one. Consumers talk about possible recall pending for 2017,18,19 Rogue. Mine is 2019. I want to go to most expert for this concern -should it be a collision expert or general dealer repair for this safety concern. Thank you.

14 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/06/2024

The cruise control and safety driving system shuts off and the message “forward driving aids disabled. Front sensor blocked” comes on. This happens every few miles now. Pulling over, shutting off the engine, and restarting it resets the system, but it cuts out again. Sometimes if I just keep driving, it will reset itself in a few miles. This has been dangerous at highway speeds due to it coming on a d vehicle decelerating suddenly. It's also dangerous because it shuts off the vehicle avoidance system. In a 4 hour trip it can happen up to 6 to 8 times. We've taken it to dealership, but they have not found an error message etc and said they cannot do anything about it unless the issue gets worse or a recall is created for the lane camera, which has had reported issues of overheating. The following web link has more information of other drivers with the exact same issue as I described. . . Read more...

15 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/29/2024

Since purchasing the vehicle Dec. 26 2023 there have been a handful of times that the forward collision light comes on and blinks. About the 4th or 5th time this happened, the vehicle also applied the brakes. Slowing me from about 60 mph to about 40 mph rather quickly. Luckily at the time of night this happened there was no traffic around me. It took me a couple of seconds to realize what had happened and to push on the accelerator to regain speed. While the light is blinking my cruise control is disabled. I'm not really sure what else may or may not be disabled but a car that brakes at will scares the hell out of me. I won't let anyone else drive it and if I see other Nissans on the road I stay away from them. I have the 1st of what I feel will be many repair appointments scheduled for Friday February 9th.

16 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 10/24/2023

While driving at highway speeds, either in cruise control mode or not I get a sound notification and my dashboard shows a malfunction message and all safety features have become disabled including cruise control. This has occurred at 389 miles, 3223 miles, 4835 miles, 5047 miles, 6860 miles and 8319 miles. Each time I brought it back to the Nissan dealer. They replaced camera assy-lane keep at 7487 miles and distance sensor at 8727 miles. I feel that I am at risk in that it happens at highway speeds (60-70) mph and suddenly cruise control and forward collision warning become disabled. This occurred on oct. 24, 2023, Jan. 21, Feb 28, Feb 29, April 3 and June 2 of 2024.

17 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/15/2023

The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue sport. The contact stated that while their daughter was diving at highway speeds (mph unknown) in the rain with the cruise control turned off suddenly the vehicle began excessively turning to the left. The vehicle began spinning out of control and hitting the guard rail approximately 3 times before stopping on a bed of grass. The air bags did not deploy. The contact had injuries such as bruises and soreness to the left side of the body. There was no medical attention. There was no police report filed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The vehicle was towed by the contact's insurance company and then had the vehicle towed to persons associated with Nissan (the contact was unsure of the exact location), however, there was no diagnosis provided. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

19 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/25/2023

On 3/25/2023 with less than 800 miles on the vehicle, the throttle got stuck. The cruise control was on but not activated. After passing a vehicle on a 3 lane interstate, the vehicle accelerated on its own to over 100mph. I hit the cruise control button to turn it off, but the car continued to accelerate on its own. I hit the brake to slow down and try to get it to shut off (thinking if was a cruise control issue), but every time I lifted my foot off the brake pedal, it would accelerate to speeds of 90-110mph. I continued to brake about 7-8 times, then I heard a loud "kurplunk" in the engine, and it stopped. It continued to drive normally for the rest of the trip. The Rogue was taken to the dealership and checked out. I was told the "floor mats got stuck on the gas pedal and not to drive with both the carpeted mats and the rubber mats in the vehicle. " I told the service manager this obviously was not the problem and there was a bigger issue, and that did not explain the loud sound coming from the engine. Upon leaving the dealership that same day on 3/30/2023, I accelerated to get on an onramp to interstate i35, and the rpm stuck at 3200 and would not go down. The engine roared. It was in sport mode, so I switched the vehicle to standard and the rpms dropped to 2000-2100. I circled back around and went back to the dealership and had the female servie manager ride with me. The engine continued to roar at high rpms, and the service manager said this was "normal. " we returned to the dealership; nothing further was checked out on the vehicle. 7/28/2023 at 4442 miles, I accelerated to get on an onramp to i20 and the accelerataor got stuck again; I was riding the brakes in traffic on the onramp to get the vehicle to slow down. If I removed my foot from the brakes, it accelerated on its own. I kept my foot on the brake and kept pumping until I heard the loud "kurplunk" and it quit once again. This has happend two more times in December of 2023.

Crash detector light flashes on and off.

21 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 09/15/2022

2019 Rogue has around 40k miles. Rear brakes wore through to metal backers at approx 30k miles making it necessary to to replace pads and rotors. I am now replacing brakes again. The dealer refused warranty and said rapid wear is normal for these cars, with some wearing out in as little as 10k miles.

22 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2008 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/20/2022

1. Frame bracket has rusted out and dealer only sells whole frame. Very expensive is obviously an issue which has not been addressed but has been *noted on internet. (went after market to repair still at $775!) 2. Airbags system light now on and was on recall in the past. Dealer will only look at it for $100. * noted on internet as a continuous issue for some. 3. Cruise control on past recall. Has not functioned since dealer fixed in recall. *still turns on by itself and will not go off unless I turn vehicle off. **definite safety issue** 4. Parking brake not functioning properly was also on recall. If I use it then it will not release all the way and continues to drag. Useless. Have had repaired 2 times by mechanic since recall. 5. Transmission replaced on silent recall with extended warranty. Had issues from almost the start. Why would I purchase another Nissan of any type? vehicle 2008 Nissan Rogue is 13 1/2 years old with only 76,000 miles. No way should it have these issues. It has never been in an accident! I love the vehicle but not these issues. I will be replacing this vehicle in the future with a competitor.

23 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 04/03/2022

When I have cruise control activated, for example, at 65 mph, the engine transmission seems to keep shifting gears up and down and does not maintain a steady pace and slowing down/speeding up and shifting constantly. It is to the point that I will not use the cruise control any longer. It has happened each time I have activated it and I am inquiring if it is a commonly reported issue.

25 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 10/31/2021

When driving home from demark s. C to milledgeville, GA. Last Sunday when around the car stop accelerating and was making a whining noise. . The r. P. M. Meter was over 8 and the speedometer was stuck on 60 m. P. H. This went on for around ten minuets, then started back to normal. This is the second time happened when taking a similar.

26 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2012 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 06/01/2021

When driving on the highway the vehicle will desegregate. Check engine light goes on and off and received 5 different codes for the transmission. Tire ?? system comes on and off. The engine overheats a lot especially on hot climates. I drove from new york to north carolina and had to stop 5 times on the side of the road so the car could cool down.

27 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 03/15/2021

Driving down interstate on nice clear day with minimal traffic, cruise control set at 70mph when suddenly the cruise disengages, warning light begins to appear on dash showing 2 cars colliding with audible alarm informing me that the front radar is obstructed. Cruise control will not work and any attempt to use cruise control is met with audible alarm and warning that front radar is obstructed. I stop, check all radar/sensors for debri. . . Everything is fine, no bugs, not debri, no obstruction. I restart engine, same warning appears before I even put transmission in drive. Start driving, same situation, front radar obstructed, cruise not available. After 10 miles or so the flasing light goes off, everything returns to normal, cruise control works properly. Car may experience this oroblem twice in hundred mile trip on perfectly clear day. Other times it may not happen at all on a 100 mile trip. When this does happen in heavy traffic the situation becomes dangerous quickly because the automated braking is disabled and if the radio is on it's easy to not realize the system is off until your speed is reduced significantly. I have had 2 close calls because of this - one with a car in front of me stopping abruptly and the system failed to maintain the selected gap between my vehicle and the vehicle in front of me so I had to veer onto the median to avoid a collision; the second time the cruise abruptly disengaged traffic behind me almost ran into me which caused vehicles behind me to have a close call. So far this problem has always happened on the highway or interstate, never in town. Sometimes when it is raining really hard the same warning light & audible alarm will sound, however cruise control remains operational as does the automatic braking. So it appears to work properly at times.

28 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/26/2021

Driving east on I-94 near battle creek, mi at highway speed in cruise control with my wife and 3 year old granddaughter the brakes applied hard. Had to stand on the gas and was fighting the brakes brakes that were still applied to get back to 60 to keep from being run over. Pulled over and shut it off. Found icing on the front sensor. Restarted car and fault cleared. Proceeded on highway and it worked for a bit but fault showed up again but without the hard braking. Shut off the auto braking which also shuts off cruise control. It was snowing some on that trip. Our return trip the next day it was sunny and we had no problems. The instrument panel has a fuel mileage history that shows up when you shut the car off. It showed 10 mpg for that short stint when we had the problem, otherwise 26 mpg for all the other stints. The vehicle was taken to cole Nissan in kalamazoo, mi where they had it for two weeks. We described how the instrument light would flash on and off sometimes before this, but had never applied the brakes like this. When we went to get the car we were told that there was no code set and they tested the sensors and found nothing wrong. Interestingly, we didn't get any sort of service report or paperwork. Does that mean they aren't reporting it? the service guy told us something about the transmission being in too low of a gear and they didn't find a code that the brakes had applied. Makes no sense. This car should not react to snow on the front of the car by locking the brakes or "downshifting". This is an unsafe condition that should be addressed by Nissan.

29 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 01/25/2021

I recently purchased my 2018 Nissan Rogue in August of 2020 and as of March 2021, I've had 5 instances where the front radar system for the cruise control feature malfunctioned while driving on the highway. The front radar sensor is part of the intelligent forward warning system in Nissans and its job is to detect the distance between vehicles. The sensor is tied to the cruise control and emergency braking system. The fault consists of a front radar obstruction warning light malfunction illuminating leading to the disengagement of the cruise control feature (if engaged prior to the malfunction) or the cruise control feature and the emergency braking system becoming disabled. Also, when the fault appears, the brakes are abruptly applied before being released which is a very serious safety issue especially when driving during inclement weather as your relying on the integrity of your braking system. I took the vehicle to my local Nissan dealership and they mentioned that there were no current recalls in place for this particular issue and that the system would need to be updated with the latest software update to see if the problem is corrected. I was told that I would have to pay approximately $150 to install the update to the system, which to me should be covered by the company due to implied safety issues. I was surprised to hear that a recall was not in place for this system, considering this has been a known issue since 2014 and yet the Nissan company has yet to issue any type of safety recall for the Rogue models, hence my safety complaint. I fear that if this problem isn't corrected soon an unsuspecting driver could get hurt!.
