Warnings Problems of Nissan Rogue - part 1

During highway driving, my 2023 Nissan Rogue experienced sudden loss of power and entered limp mode without warning. Engine rpm surged abnormally, forward driving and collision avoidance sensors became disabled, and the vehicle could not accelerate properly. The fuel range also dropped rapidly during this event. This created a dangerous situation in traffic (I was in the mountains in virginia) and placed me and other motorists at risk. The condition is intermittent and did not leave diagnostic codes. The vehicle was taken to a Nissan dealership, where recall repairs and ecm reprogramming were performed, but no root cause was identified and there is no assurance the problem will not recur. I am concerned this is a serious safety defect involving loss of propulsion and disabled safety systems.

Forward collision alarm set off causing the car to stop and steering to change while in cruise control this was on the freeway. This happened even after the sensors were changed. The car needs to taken off the road before someone is seriously injured or killed.

The vehicle intermittently loses power and displayed “engine malfunction/ service now” warnings beginning several months ago. Diagnostic code u0652 (lost communication with egr system) was recorded. This failure was later confirmed by a Nissan dealer, who identified a faulty egr valve and differential-pressure sensor, with low coolant and internal coolant loss (no external leaks). During review with Nissan’s regional case manager, engine contamination was noted as a factor, yet this information was never disclosed to me by the dealership. The egr valve, cooler, and sensors share coolant and exhaust pathways with the engine, meaning contamination within those circuits can block sensors and cause drivability loss or limp-mode events — exactly what occurred. Despite these findings, Nissan classified the issue as “unrelated” to recall r25a8, which involves internal bearing debris and coolant contamination capable of circulating through those same systems. Nissan offered to cover only 50% of repair costs and refused to provide their decision in writing. Nissan’s recall inspection procedure requires removal of the oil pan and inspection for debris, which was never performed. I was provided an oil sample after diagnosis - proof that the pan was not dropped. This raises concerns that Nissan failed to follow the prescribed recall diagnostic process. Additionally, I have been forced to personally pay hundreds of dollars for a rental vehicle because Nissan stated rental reimbursement would not be provided until the repair is completed, despite the vehicle being undrivable due to the recall-related defect. I do not feel comfortable proceeding with the repair or continuing to drive the vehicle in its current condition, as the underlying recall issue has not been properly addressed or resolved. This defect poses a serious safety risk due to potential engine failure, sudden power loss, and internal coolant contamination that could lead to further mechanical damage or fire.

The fuel gauge has failed. The ac unit has been finicky since I purchased the vehicle and has already received one repair. Fuel gauge has been reading incorrectly for 2 weeks now. Read that it is a common issue for the Nissan Rogue sports. A few days ago my forward collision warning came on and said system error. There were no objects in front of me or stuck to the vehicle.

This vehicle was manufactured on 01/2022, I purchased it new in 05/2022, and it currently has 49,000 miles. Nissan manufacturer recall number r25a8, NHTSA recall number 25v-437, and the recall is incomplete, as a remedy not yet available. The dealerships cannot tell me if my car may be affected by engine failure and Nissan extending warranties on the engine does not make me any safer from a potential engine failure that could result in an accident. Additionally, on 9/16/2025 my 30 cameras stopped working. , I took it to the dealership for diagnosis and was told it needs an avn control unit ($1500 for part and labor) and potentially a main harness ($4650 parts and labor). The avn control unit is required for most of the safety features including: adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance. It seems unreasonable that a vehicle that is less than 4 years old with less than 50,000 miles would have an electronic failure already. Of course, the warranty was 3 years or 36,000 miles.

I know of recall. Nissan has been unable to address. Had my car go in for several malfunctions in August. Battery also bad. Now driving on I-35 nb from san antonio, TX, car malfunctioned. Car was unable to maintain speeds which could have caused an accident. Car under warranty for 1 more month. I was almost to new braunfels, TX with my 2 year old in the backseat. Had to find a way home on backroads as it was also raining. I tried to have them resolve before and was told no remedy. Now I’m having engine issues. This could have resulted in a bad outcome due to these issues on a high speed hwy and my car dropped to 35 and I was unable to go faster. This recall needs a remedy immediately. I will be contacting Nissan and local Nissan to address these issues now.

On Saturday, while driving my 2023 Nissan Rogue (currently under recall) down the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost all acceleration. At the same time, every warning light illuminated on the dashboard. This occurred without any prior warning, forcing me to quickly and unsafely maneuver to the shoulder of the road while traffic was moving at high speeds. Component or system that failed: powertrain/engine/acceleration system (vehicle is available for inspection upon request). Safety risk: my safety and the safety of others were at risk because the sudden loss of acceleration occurred in the middle of highway driving, creating a dangerous situation where I could have been struck by oncoming vehicles. Reproduction/confirmation: unknown. The incident has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Inspection status: the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Warning lamps or prior symptoms: all warning lamps illuminated at the time of failure. There were no prior warning messages or symptoms before this incident occurred.

While driving the car, sometimes the collision light will come on and the car will automatically stat braking even through there are no car in-front or around.

The vehicle has activated a false aeb on several ocassions since I purchased the vehicle. I immediately took it back to Nissan and they stated there were no recalls and the vehicle seemed to have no issues. I've had the vehicle for 5 years and it continues to occur, nearly causing a traffic collision.

2021 Nissan Rogue sport. While driving, the forward collision warning/automatic emergency braking system will sometimes activate without reason. The vehicle applies the brakes suddenly, even when there are no obstacles, vehicles, or hazards in front of me. This false activation occurs intermittently and poses a safety concern, as it can cause unexpected braking in traffic. The issue has happened under normal driving conditions, without any obstructions on the road.

2021 Nissan Rogue sv fwd 5n1at3baxmc6*****. Water leaking inside interior during rain storm in upper left drivers side corner of vehicle. Shifter delayed when shifting into park, neutral, reverse, or drive and shifter assembly indicator lights are out. Reference ntb21-069a. This is a known issue. A corrupted shifter assembly has caused this vehicle to display multiple warnings such as cvt warnings , shifter position warnings, front and rear crash sensors unavailable, and a multitude of other electrical system warnings. Communications with Nissan consumer affairs and Nissan service departments both of which state the vehicle is out of warranty and repairs for this known issue will be charged to customer despite evidence this is a manufacturing defect known to exist within this year make and model.

I had the service malfunction turn on while driving on the express way and the collision sensors turn on and my steering wheel locked while driving almost causing a huge accident on the expressway.

While driving on the highway going 65mph my forward collision popped up and no car or pedestrian was in front of me. Then my check engine light came on and my car started to slowing down. I had to immediately get off the highway and stopped by o’reilly were the guy had to reset the lights so I could at least get home. This is not the first time this has happened. This happened to me a month ago and luckily I was a mile from home where I was able to park my vehicle but the next day everything was off and I was able to drive my car normal to work. I’m not sure what’s going on with this vehicle. But I only had it for 3 months and I purchased this vehicle from carmax. I need this to be looked at and resolved quickly but I do use my vehicle for work.

My vehicle abruptly went from 65 to 30 while driving with my children on the expressway. The check engine light and three other lights came on, and the car wouldn't start for an hr or so, and then it wouldn't accelerate past 25-30 miles, while all the check engine light and the other lights continued to stay on.

Windshield camera overheats causing crash sensor warnings, lane departure will not work. Cruise control will also not work.

It started when I purchased it in February 2025 mileage was 99200 I noticed the seatbelt warning signs didn’t ding if I didn’t have my seatbelt on. And the sunroof not only was leaking but it is coming apart where it is held in place I’m afraid it will suddenly come down and strike me without notice while driving. Theee days ago I noticed the airbag light came on while I had the driver assist engaged so I stopped and turned the driver assistance light on and then off which caused the airbag light to turn off . But today with 1100 miles on the vehicle I was driving and the light. Came on as I was driving again. I tried turning off the drivers assistance button but the light stays on!!! I’m concerned about the safety while driving with the airbag light, the seatbelt not signaling when the seatbelt is not on it ding to remind me that someone doesn’t have their seat belt on. At lastly , I believe that I am going to be injured by the sunroof motor fulling down while I am driving causing a car wreck and or injuring me or a passenger. The OCS system in the 2015 model needs to be fixed before serious injury occurs.

I received a recall in the mail and around June I have calling since then try to get my recall repaired , I went the dealer today and they tell me they do not have the parts I am trying to get my recall repaired before emission and just wanted to report this matter.

1)backup camera freezes. I need to pause the car and wait a minute then it will restart. This happens a couple of times a week. 2)also, there have been several times when going down a hill, my forward collision warning light and sound goes off and it feels like a light emergency brake is applied. (though the dealer told me that I did not have the automatic emergency braking). This occurs for about 2-3 seconds and then stops on it's own. I have never seen anything in the road that would set this off. This has happened about 4 times within the last 6 months or less.

Our 2019 Nissan Rogue sv crash warning light came on the instrument cluster, also it stopped letting me know when I was going over the lane. The warning sign is still coming on and will not turn off. The button switch on left section on the steering wheel do not functioning. After a diagnostic test it was shown to be the forward collision warning (fcw). I understand that this seems to be a problem with this particular type of vehicles and it has been reported many times but no recall have been initiated, I feel very unsafe driving it, it is estimated the cost to repair this problem is about $2600.

No worked the system forward collision and automatic emergency and crash with one horse. My body with hematonas my neck with dolor. No confirmed with the dealer. The police take inform and insurance never worked the emergency break frontal in the dash no light o statement emergency break.

This complaint concerns a 2016 Nissan Rogue purchased from a used-vehicle dealership and involves safety-related defects present at or shortly after sale, raising concerns regarding inspection adequacy, disclosure accuracy, and systemic sales practices. Within days of purchase, the vehicle exhibited active water intrusion through the moonroof, interior ceiling stains, mold spotting, and moisture exposure to electronic components. These conditions indicate prolonged or pre-existing water intrusion rather than post-sale wear. Service personnel later advised that the vehicle showed indicators consistent with prior water or flood-related damage. The vehicle also demonstrated multiple mechanical and electrical malfunctions affecting safety and drivability. Subsequent inspection determined that handling and pulling issues were not caused by wheel alignment, but by worn sway bar frame bushings and cracked cv axle boots on both sides, indicating suspension and drivetrain deterioration. Noise initially attributed to rear brake issues was later identified as wheel bearing failure after prior evaluations misdiagnosed the source. Wheel bearing degradation is a progressive condition consistent with pre-existing mechanical wear. Additional defects included keyless entry and ignition errors, electrical shorts affecting interior systems, malfunctioning lift-gate controls, and crash-sensor irregularities occurring during rain and highway driving. These conditions created an unreasonable risk of impaired braking response, electronic failure, or loss of vehicle control. The vehicle was represented as inspected, safe, and reliable at the time of sale. However, the defects manifested immediately and required repeated repair attempts during the warranty period, resulting in significant loss of use.

The ok button on the steering wheel collapsed in causing the dash menus to choose random settings and turn them on or off. In the dash selection, controlled with this, is the crash detection on the vehicle, causing the menu to cycle through and turn off and on these settings also. There’s blind spot, alarms, lane departure, driver assistance, and backup sensors. There’s vehicle’s safety features are controlled in the dash menus. The cruise control button is also sticking resulting in the cars speed to change whenever. This is a known issue with Nissan but still refuse to do anything about it after the bumper to bumper warranty period is over, even though it includes safety features. They also want us to pay $170 dollars just for them to say “yes the bottons are broken. ” several forums have confirmed this is a problem that Nissan is well aware of. Someone mentioned their 2023 went through 3 steering wheels because of this issue and it was within the warranty period, so Nissan replaced the steering wheels (you can’t just replace the button modules).

The forward collision warning light keeps flashing on the dash. It will not go away. It came on randomly. The fcw sensor looks okay from a quick glance. Wanting Nissan to issue a recall for this super common and annoying issue that puts us at risk for random breaking.

Fcw randomly turns off while driving in daylight under clear conditions. Each time I stop and check the sensor on the front to make sure I haven’t hit a bug or something that covered the sensor and each time the sensor is clear.

Warning popped up that malfunction and forward collision was disabled.

I received a forward collision warning at approx. 35,700 miles. The distance sensor failed and the vehicle would not stop from hitting the car in front of me. I was able to swerve to avoid collision. Took to dealer at approx. 38,000 miles and they determined an internal failure in the distance sensor. Distance sensor and bracket was replaced. Labor and parts were $1,122.

The heater and thus defroster no longer work, only cold air comes out. A Nissan service center diagnosed the issue as a stripped out part of the blend door actuator. The whole heater box would need to be replaced to resolve the issue. In winter driving, the lack of defroster impairs visibility and turns off the automatic forward braking system. The fault light for the forward braking system comes on when there is windshield frost/fog. The first signs of this issue appeared as intermittent failures of the heater failing to turn on, but resolved on the next drive. Eventually, the heater/defroster permanently failed. From searching the internet, this blend door actuator issue appears to be prevalent among other Rogues.

The collision system just randomly turns off.

While I'm driving collision sensors activate with no reason and when they activate sometimes stops abruptly and locks it's self; doesn't allow me to go back or forward.

The collision light came on and everywhere online says it’s a recall but Nissan doesn’t show it as a recall in their system. It states the the car will stop suddenly when light comes on thinking cars are around but nobody is around. It’s not safe. I’m getting it fixed right now but I’m having to pay money because my car isn’t listed as a recall for this.

[xxx] was involved in a single person collision,the vehicle hit head on into a building. [xxx] put her foot on the brake however the car speed up on its own causing her to run into a building. Which causes her to be involved in an accident. As you can see Nissan has not taken any responsibility for the vehicle involved despite any recalls. Which as you can see they have 0 fixes. She has now had to pay a big amount out of her pocket and it was no fault to her. She was awake alert and a police report was made. Please contact her a. S. A. P at. [xxx] [xxx] . Forward collision sensor comes on and deactivates the cruise control and all safety features, sometimes breaking and quickly deceleration the car in traffic, dealer and Nissan refuse to address the issue telling me it's working as intended, feels like the car intends to kill me when this occurs in traffic.

While driving on busy highway the warning of the collision sensor and emergency brake sensors goes off, reduces speed tremendously while driving and never goes off. When this happened to me I was over miles from home stranded and had to drive under 30 mph to make it to an exit for safety and call a tow truck.

As I was driving my daughter to school suddenly a warning popped up in the dash that there was a forward collision malfunction and the system turned itself off. There were no other vehicles near me or in front of me and the sensors were not blocked by rain (we are in drought conditions) or snow.
