1 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

The transmission in this car slips, jerks, high rmps with out shifting. The eco and sport no longer do anything when you try to switch it. It is a real hazzard when trying to merge onto highway or in left hand turns, I literally have to wait till there is no traffic. Highly upset there is only 82,000 miles on it.

2 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2019

I took my 2013 Nissan Sentra in to my auto mechanic (who has been my mechanic for 25 years) because it was shifting roughly and slipping. My mechanic informed me that the cvt transmissions have had problems and recommended I take it to the Nissan service department and hopefully, Nissan would either cover the cost or cover part of it. I had the car towed to pinnacle Nissan, who has serviced kit in the past. They updated some codes but said the transmission was still slipping (this was on a Friday). They said they would drive it and see if they could determine the problem. I got another call Monday morning, saying everything was fine. I could not get a straight answer as to why it was slipping Friday afternoon but "fine" Monday morning. I tried calling Nissan corporate for some help with the cost to replace the transmission and was told it was my problem. So, the car was still driving exactly the same and, at one point, would not shift! I was nearly rear ended and, fortunately, happened to be close to my auto mechanic. The transmission finally "caught" and shifted so I was able to get it to my mechanic's. He replaced the transmission but it cost me $4200!!! thanks, Nissan, for the faulty transmission and for lying to me and for not helping me at all! so, after paying $4200 to replace my faulty transmission, I asked my mechanic to also look at my ac, which was not working well. I live in phoenix, where it is 115 in the summer, so the ac is pretty crucial. I was hoping I just needed a little freon. Nope. Yet another design flaw from Nissan, I had to replace the compressor, the condenser, and switch. So, I have poured $5300 into a car that's worth about $5700! I bought this car in good faith, believing that Nissan is an excellent, reliable brand. I am so disgusted I can't stand it!.

3 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

These are all of the problems I'm experiencing; loss of power, transmission jerking, transmission slipping, cvt coolant hose leaks and failures. All of these problems happened when I was in motion on major highways and my car couldn't go over 35mph. Not only was I endanger my child was also in the back seat to do the fact my car could not accelerate at all!! I've been experiencing these problems for some time now but the loss of power was the last straw. And then I start doing research on my car and find out Nissan has had problems with the cvt transmissions and I want to know why their isn't some type of recall on these unsafe vehicles. Its a danger to my family and the other drivers on the road because you never know when it is going to happen!!!.

4 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2019

When driving down the major highway road rpm will go all way to 6 then back down to 2 back and forth and the car will jerk without me pushing the gas and usually going at normal rate of speed , transmission is slipping and a jerking , sometimes when coming to an intersection the rpm hand would go up to 6 without warning , almost propelling me on thru the intersection very dangerous , I am afraid for my life while driving my car and I am very disappointed in this problem.

5 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2019

The car would not accelerate. The gradual breaking light was on. I noticed my back passenger tail light had moister in it. So I took it po ur and dumped about 5 oz. Of water out of it. I bought a new taillight. It seemed to fix the problem now my transmission is slipping from 1st to second gear. The rpms jump from 2000 to 3000 as it shifts and steady out it's been getting worse as the days go by. I'm finding similar issues online but no solution other than transmission replacement. It has 83000 miles on it. Because of the taillight issue and it not accelerating I feel like theres some kind of wiring issue to the transmission. It's not throwing any codes and the dealer says nothing's wrong with it.

6 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2018

Cvt transmission slipping: my 2013 Nissan Sentra is experiencing issues with its cvt transmission. My first experience with my cvt could have harmed me and the other passengers in my car. My car refused to accelerate while making a turn at an intersection while another vehicle was heading in the same direction. Luckily the driver noticed and slowed down preventing a collision. It took 30 seconds for my vehicle to pick up speed afterwards. I had the same problem once before while preparing to turn at a stop sign at another intersection.

7 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2018

I gotten this vehicle from carmax at 53000 miles may of 2018. I took it back 2 days later with the transmission slipping they told me OH its fine. I even had a rental for a day. Now its January 2019 and at 74000 miles the transmission is slipping and jolting sometimes not giving power in the middle of the road. My car comes up as not a lemon car but I went to a mechanic near me he told me he use to work for Nissan and by even testing my car my transmission needs to be fixed and it will start again in the next 6 months after repair. My car is not safe to be driving nor will I pay for a vehicle that wont get my bills paid.

8 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2018

Transmission slipping when taking off or shifting 85,000 miles.

9 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

Bought this car, my first car on 04/20/2018. I have a short commute to work and the car seemed to fit my price range and didn't see many dire complaints on this specific model of car while researching before purchasing. Until I searched rpm spikes and transmission slips on google after my 60 day limited warranty ran out. Haven't even driven this car 800 miles and the car jerks violently on the roads, and at only 55,000 miles. It jerked from day one, but thought it was normal until it got worse. I'm just now regretting buying this vehicle, but there was nothing I could do I was in a pinch for a car I got bills to pay and a job I have to make it to. It seems like a lot of people have this issue and all agree the cvt should be a recall. I have to be honest I agree. I don't understand how you could sell someone this vehicle without letting them know the reputation this car has. I don't know how you could sell someone a used car to someone and know that persons car may stall, or jerk and cause a life threatening car crash. When it comes down to it, its not the money its the safety, the vehicle doesn't operate in a safe manner, it jerks, stalls, shakes when breaking all while not flashing any indicator lights saying there is something wrong when there clearly is something wrong.

10 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2018

Cvt transmission slipping at highway speeds, randomly, transmission will slip going up interstate hills, cruise control on, going speed limits, transmission will start slipping and rpms will bounce up and down 500rpms, took the car to Nissan, transmission replaced. . December 2017. . . . And replacement transmission is doing the exact same slipping. . . I have returned to Nissan service, they performed software update to correct problem, received car back on 1-5-18, driving home, about 60 miles I begin up a interstate hill, and slipping happens again, I call Nissan service and let them know the tranmission is still slipping, service guy says they have done everything they can. . . I have service warranty records and videos of slipping transmission. . . Seems Nissan service can not fix.

11 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2017

Car jerks and sputters when pulling off like the transmission is slipping. When accelerating, the gears do not shift when they are supposed to, so the rpm revs high.

12 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2017

The vehicle has one owner, used on daily route to work and a few short trips. 67,000 miles on the odometer. The transmission began to slip at highway speeds causing the engine to rev up and down 500 rpms to maintain speed. Problem ceased while in cruise control. Problem was intermittent. Within two days before getting it serviced, the condition worsened. The transmission began to slip at slow speeds, all conditions, with the fluctuating rpms at highway speeds being 1500 rpms. The diagnosis was a pressure malfunction in the transmission. It destroyed the inner workings of the transmission. Debris from the transmission was in the fluid, and the fluid was severely burned. The entire transmission must be replaced at a cost of $4200.

13 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2017

The transmission keeps slipping. The car has 77,000 miles on it and the dealer is stating the transmission needs to be replaced. Cost to replace the transmission is $4,800. Apparently this is an issue a lot of Nissan owners are having with defective cvt transmission and Nissan is not taking responsibility.

14 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Nissan Sentra. While driving 20-25 mph, the odometer displayed incorrect readings and the transmission slipped then the vehicle decelerated. The vehicle hesitated while in traffic and the gear shift would not go into the proper gears. Also, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that a transmission range performance was needed. The vehicle was repaired two months later. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,411.

15 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2016

My first indecent occurred while driving down a state highway with my cruise control on, my cruise control was cut off. As I was trying to accelerate back to my driving speed, the gas pedal felt loose and my car was having trouble revving up to accelerate and would not let me accelerate back up to posted highway speeds. The car then "jumped" forward and went back to normal and allowed me accelerate. However, I was not able to engage my cruise control back to normal and would cut it off every time I set it. I took my car to the dealership the next day for an initial recall notice to be fixed and explained also what happened. When I described my issue the service man had said it sounded as if my transmission was slipping, that they would look at it. After recall was cared for and two test drives later, they found nothing wrong with the vehicle. Told me if problem comes back to bring in immediately. On 07/06/2016 on my drive home at night, I came to a light and yielded, upon trying to accelerate to turn my car failed to accelerate and was having issues once again revving up! I drifted in to a nearby parking lot, put my car in park, turned it off for a few minutes then turned it back on. It acted fine until I was further down on a state highway and it was giving issues accelerating again. I contacted the dealership the next day (07/07) and was told to bring it in. They called me after sometime, and made me aware of what was wrong with my vehicle(condensation in the tail lights!) and how it was affecting my vehicle. I was also told that it was a manufacturer issue and that the manufacturer and Nissan are aware of the issue but have yet to issue a recall!! this is a serious issue that can lead to a fatal accident!!.
