1 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/13/2025

The competent that continues to fail is the emergency response breaks. They continue to stop at random times creating a very unsafe environment while I drive daily. I do have this on video and my car is available for inspection at any time. I just recently finally got the emergency break system on video since it is so random and plan on making an appointment with my local Nissan dealer. I did have a visit recently regarding the recall for the tire rods. My car continues to make odd sounds and I paid over $1000 to get it fixed with all new tires. These problems have began since the day I got my car. I have bought over 10 wheels due to issues with the tire rods. The video we finally were able to get was last night regarding the emergency stop systems, it does not let me add to the complaint but I can send to any email if needed as well as the local Nissan dealer did inspect and work on the car for my tires and tire rods.

2 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/05/2025

I am writing to formally report a safety-related defect in my 2019 Nissan Sentra and to request reimbursement for repair costs associated with this issue. My vehicle experienced a failure of the brake light switch, which prevented the car from starting and disabled the brake lights—posing a serious safety hazard. Although I have been informed that my vehicle is not currently included in recall campaign pm971, the symptoms and defective part match the recall description precisely. I have verified my VIN through the NHTSA recall lookup tool, and I am concerned that the recall scope may be too narrow, excluding vehicles that are clearly affected. This defect required immediate repair to restore basic vehicle functionality and ensure safety. I have attached documentation of the repair, including the invoice and diagnostic notes, for your review. I respectfully request the following: reimbursement for the cost of the brake light switch repair. A formal review of my vehicle’s eligibility for recall pm971. Consideration for expanding the recall to include additional affected vehicles, including mine. I am submitting this complaint in the interest of safety and fairness—not only for myself but for other Nissan owners who may be facing the same issue without recourse. I trust that Nissan will take this matter seriously and respond with the integrity and customer care that your brand represents. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.

3 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 06/25/2025

The aeb - automatic emergency braking sensors are faulty. The system randomly brakes while I am driving with nothing in the cars path to set it off. It happens frequently and without any seemingly reason. It has become very nerve wracking and potentially dangerous. I brought this issue up to a mechanic at the Nissan repair shop and his response was that the car is no longer under warranty and that I am responsible for what would be a costly repair. He suggested taking the car through the car wash frequently. I constantly wipe the front window where the sensors are located, I find this solution to be unacceptable.

4 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 06/16/2025

Vehicle had aeb system malfunctioning. The brakes did not work. The emergency brake barely worked. We were driving on fathers day to a family gathering and the system and brakes malfunctioned, yes we collided with the curb and debris on the side of the road cause curb rash to the rims. No major damage. This would be the 3rd this has happened to my vehicle in particular. Dealers say the manufacturer doesn’t cover brake line damage or issue even due to factory fault/ defect.

6 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/21/2025

Every so often the vehicle’s aeb, fcw, ldw system malfunctions and causes the cel( check engine light ) to come on. The car also looses traction control and begins to sound like the tires are grinding on the pavement. This then puts the motor in a limp mode/ safe mode. During this time the vehicle does not have power and reduces speed to 50mph, the vehicle then revs at 2. 5-5. 5rpm trying to catch/ hold speed. The vehicle begins to shake when this happens. The power windows also don’t work after this happens.

7 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/04/2025

Steering wheel vibrates and has become difficult to steer. Occurs often. While on the freeway, vehicle has come to a stop in 2 different occasions, it just stopped for 4-5 seconds. Back up camera is blurred, mainly in the center.

8 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Automatic emergency brake engaged while driving when there was not a car directly in front of me. There were no obstructions on the road and cars in the lanes next to me were not merging into my lane.

9 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2023 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/10/2025

The malfunction symbol/abs light comes on once a week & will not allow me to crank my car and I have to jump it off to get it back started. My car is bought from a rental car agency Jan 2025 who provided me the receipts that the car was taken care of properly. Within the first week of purchase, the vehicle would not start & the malfunction and/or abs symbol would appear and happens once a week since I purchased the vehicle January 2025. According to google, this unwanted abs or malfunction warning is very common in the Nissan Sentra. Seems as if this is an unwanted problem occurring in several year models, it should be recalled. It is a safety hazard for all involved.

10 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/17/2024

My abs light randomly come on along side of traction control, front and rear collision assistance lights. Car has had electrical problems since I got it such as sometimes bright headlights won’t come on( they just stay on the dim regardless of what you do) the radio will just freeze and not work at all. Have to unhook the battery to get radio to even reset or even wait days for it to do it itself. Do not recommend this car. Nothing but electrical problems since I’ve gotten it. And it only have 50,000 miles and all regular maintenance has been done.

11 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/21/2024

Malfunction brakes from glares on the road (especially in the rain) and now has a malfunction warning.

12 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/07/2024

I keep having issues with aeb system. The emergency braking system that is supposed to sense cars in front of you and brake for you if you don’t brake yourself. I was doing about 70 mph no one else on road sunny day and my car starts beeping loudly and my brakes lock up for no reason. 3 times just today this happened. Oh and you can’t turn the system off so I just keep praying it doesn’t kill me one of these days on the interstate. Can’t believe this isn’t a recall probably won’t be until someone is seriously injured. My neck hurts from whiplash but can’t go to the hospital for that with the price of my insurance copay. Don’t buy a Nissan if you read this never buy a Nissan.

13 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/07/2024

The automated break system came on while I was driving 2 times within 3 days without anything being in front, the back or on the side of the car. When this happened there was a few beeping noise and a quick red flash on the dashboard that said maintenance. This started happening the next day after getting an oil change from the Nissan dealership. My safety was at risked because when the car suddenly and unexpectedly stopped it jerked my body forward causing my neck to become sore. This can cause greater injury or worst if I was going any faster. If someone was behind me it could cause them to crash into me which would be doing the opposite of the purpose of the safety feature. I took the car in to the dealership and nothing could be done because there wasn't a code and it didn't happen in the presence of the mechanic. It could be a sensor issue but I don't know and the mechanics seem to be just as clueless and very dismissive. I find this to be unacceptable that I must drive around with a car that can break abruptly at any given time. I do not feel safe driving this car and it should be a safety recall on this issue. I looked online and seen other people complaining about the same issue so I'm sure Nissan knows what's going on and aren't doing anything about it.

14 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

18 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2023 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/30/2023

I bought this 2023 Nissan Sentra s on March 3 2023 and it has approximately 23k miles now. During these 10 months, Nissan replaced the axis on the vehicle under their waranty and the clicking sounds still exists after it getting fixed twice. There is also an occassional malfunctioning of the forward emergency brake (the off light blinks with a ! sign). Nissan was unable to replicate the forward emergency brake issue. A new car made last year should not be having this many issues and we are requesting an investigation into Nissan and their practices. They covered the axis issue twice after us not knowing what was wrong but we keep hearing these clicking sounds and they go through a big diagonstic guide corporate tells them to. The car is still under the Nissan manufactuer waranty and we are tried of going to the dealership again and again to fix this. We ran into someone and spoke with a 2022 Nissan Sentra owner who told us she went through something similar with her axis but in an older model. The carfaxes are attached for the dates of service.

19 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/17/2023

I was traveling at about 40mph when my vehicle, with no traffic in sight, had the automatic emergency brake go off and reduced my speed to 32mph. My safety concern is what if this happens on the freeway or even while raining. If there was a car behind me what if it caused them to get road rage. ***dashcam video available***.

20 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2016 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/09/2023

I was driving the car and leaving a red light. The car lost power, abs light came on and the traction light came on. I was unable to turn and move out of traffic. It finally jerked and released so I could drive. I was in a cross section and thank god we did not get hurt. It did this to me twice on my way to work.

Car was involved in an accident and the air bags did not deploy.

22 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/25/2023

The automatic emergency braking does not operate as it was designed to. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My and my families safety was put at risk because the aeb failed to engage as it should have. We didn't have an accident, but came very close to it. This has happened before, and every time the vehicle fails to automatically brake. I have complained about and had the vehicle inspected for this issue several times by the dealer, during and after the manufacturers warranty expired. Every time I'm told it's operating as expected. . . . It is not! I hear warning beeps, often when someone is turning in front of me and I'm not even close to them, but it never attempts to brake. I never heard it beep when getting close enough to a vehicle directly in front of me to make it activate, until recently. After the last time I complained to the dealer about it, it's now acting different. It now beeps when I'm coming up to a vehicle that's directly in front of me, but it still fails to activate the brakes as I believe it should. I've driven other vehicles with this system and the brakes activate well before there's a chance of collision. This issue appeared within the first few months we owned the vehicle, which I purchased brand new from the dealer.

23 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/24/2023

This has happened twice while driving down the road, 2021 Nissan Sentra aeb system locked up the brakes with nothing in front of vehicle to cause the system to be activated.

24 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/18/2023

Im filing a complaint iv had more recalls on this car then I ever did on any other brand this is the second recall I had for the tire rod which was already replaced with a new version of the original tire rod then they tell me OH u need a new back up camera and front lights that had recalls as well I do not feel safe driving my car and they sai d there is nothing they can do im furious. When I drive my car the wheel is constantly shaking and thats what the notice said to be weary of. As for the emergency breaking its been happening to often when im going down a road the emergency signal goes off and the breaks engage on my car when there is no other veichles around this should deffinatly be looked into.

25 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/14/2023

On October 14, 2023, while driving with no vehicle in front of the 2019 Nissan Sentra, the automatic emergency braking engaged, stopping the car forcefully. There were 3 warning beeps of a potential collision immediately prior to the braking, however, as stated, no vehicle was in front of this vehicle, and no other obstruction was in front of the vehicle. On October 16, 2023, while driving with no vehicle in front of the 2019 Nissan Sentra, there were 3 beeps warning of a potential collision. During this occasion, the braking did not engage and only the warning was given.

26 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/21/2023

So while driving my car, no car infront of or anything running out in the road. Going 45 mph my car automatically slammed on brakes by itself. Causing the car behind me to swing around me to avoid hitting me in my rear. A similar situation happened back in may 2023 resulting me to put the car in the shop & was told it was corrected.

27 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/19/2023

When driving my sensors are ringing off as if someone is in front of my car. The brakes will be pushed down stopping the car while driving. Also when driving you hear a loud clicking noise which I was told before its my tired rod. I replaced this tired rod once before when it snapped while driving before this recall was put out. I have complained numerous times to my dealership and they are not taking this matter seriously.

28 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/18/2023

The aeb system will activate sporadically in traffic and open road (I. E interstate) this can cause a serious crash if the car locks it up running 70 mph and tries to emergency stop it has been to the dealer for this issue with no resolve no prior warning when this happens and has been continuously more frequent since 30k miles.

29 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/14/2023

1. Automatic emergency braking - system - system failed /or malfunctioned car is available for examination (28,000 miles) 2. Collision alert sounded, with warning indicator (red bar with two white bars below), emergency braking triggered (no apparent abs, but driver felt the vehicle decelerate), stopped the vehicle, and turned the vehicle engine off (electrical systems remained on). The vehicle was traveling on a city street at approximately 35 mph at a slight incline, at dusk. No signs, pedestrians, other vehicles, or signs within visible distance present in front of the vehicle, or on either side of the road. There were no obstruction, debris, speed bumps, trees or pot holes on either side of the road within visible distance in front of the vehicle. Injuries may have occurred if another car was closely following, or could not stop in time. 3. The problem has been reported to the suntrup Nissan (dealer from whom we purchased the vehicle) and Nissan consumer affairs (case 49477214). The consumer affairs representative did not seem to understand the problem (initially thought it was abs)or safety concern though (she said we should not worry as the vehicle was under waranty). We are awaiting a call back from the dealer though. However, in searching for an explanation we saw similar issues reported by a law firm (lemonlawexperts. Com) 4. Vehicle has not been inspected. 5. This was the first such incident we experienced in the car. Other than the warning alert during the incident, there was no indication of this problem. The car had been in for routine service about a month ago though. At the service I mentioned the radio spontaneously turning off while traveling in a parking lot, and then turning back on a minute or two later in the same parking lot. To our knowledge the only repair work was a faulty window switch that was replaced.

30 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/04/2023

As I was driving, my car randomly came to a quick, abrupt and forceful break. It began making a beeping noise and something quickly flashed on my dashboard. It disappeared before I had a chance to read it but I remember it flashing “red”. The break lasted for maybe a second but it was extremely alarming and could have caused a severe accident if the surrounding cars were close to me. This is my second time experiencing this issue. Since it hadn’t happened in such a long time since the first time I figured the car would be okay. The first time it happened was around September 2022. And it just occurred again yesterday, on August 4,2023. Given how long I went without experiencing the problem again I did not report this specific issue to the manufacturer. However, I did experience a different problem in the past with my automatic breaking system that I did report to the manufacturer. My dashboard would randomly display a yellow picture of two cars crashing. Following the dashboard light coming on my car would randomly accelerate without me applying added pressure to the gas and it would gradually break on its own while my foot was still on the gas, but it wasn’t an abrupt break like I recently experienced. Between 2019 and 2020 I took my vehicle to passport Nissan in maryland three times for issues surrounding my breaking system. They said it was an issue with my front radar. They ordered a part and had it recalibrated. I continued to experience the same issue until I finally took it to sheehy Nissan of waldorf, where I actually purchased my car. After sheehy looked into my car I had no further issues with my car accelerating or gradually breaking. However, the issue I’m experiencing now is dangerous and can lead to car accidents, especially for the cars that drive behind me. My car is available upon request with advance notice. Please note there were no warning lamps and or messages prior to this incident.

31 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2019 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/28/2023

Driving 20 mph at night on a road that was recently torn up for road resurfacing. Manhole covers were raised but not contacting the underside of the car. I was attempting to drive so that I did not have to run over the manhole covers and the automatic braking system beeped twice, flashed an advisory on the dash, and engaged full anti-skid brakes to bring the car to a complete stop. Thankfully, there was not a vehicle behind me, or my pregnant wife & I would have definitely been rear ended. I suspect the radar system, mounted on the lower left of the front bumper, picked up the manhole covers and mistook them as another car. There is a way to turn off this system, but it resets each time you restart the car. I am looking to permanently disable this system, either by a fuse or by physically disconnecting the radar from the car.

32 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2023 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/28/2023

During adverse weather conditions cat refused to drive. I had to press break to get cat to budge then or would stop again until I redirected the car to parking spot.

33 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/10/2023

Automatic emergency braking has happened 3 times in the last 2 months without any reason. The 1st time there was a person who stepped off a side walk but I wasn’t to close to them. The last 2 times there was nothing around and all 3 times I was doing 40 or less. What happens if it happens doing 65+ on the highway. I’m worried this is going to cause someone to rear end me because it happens so suddenly with no warning really. I have made an appointment with the dealership.

34 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/10/2023

The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving 35 mph, the vehicle experienced phantom braking. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,382.

35 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 05/02/2023

My 2018 Nissan Sentra has under 60,000 miles on it and is on its 3rd set of brake rotors, as well as had both front and rear brake pads replaced 2 times. The vehicle has always given the warning , front radar not detected alert, until the last 12 months where I began receiving a malfunction warning. My car has been brought to 2 different Nissan dealerships to work on this issue. The current one stating my front sensor is failing & will need to be replaced however there is no warranty on it. I am the only owner of my vehicle and it has not been in any forward collisions. As for the power train/transmission, I received a transmission flush in may of 2023, and now 15 months later was told by a different Nissan dealership it needed a flush as it appeared the transmission was going bad. The vehicle has stalled several times, continuously has a high rmp when accelerating and the ac has gone out a couple of months ago.
