I was traveling on a multi lane road at a speed of approximately 45 mph. There were cars directly behind me. Multiple pedestrian crossings were in front of me but the pedestrians had already crossed the road and were safely on the sidewalk. However, the caution lights from the crosswalk were still illuminated from the pedestrians that had previously crossed. As I reached the pedestrian crossing, the vehicle’s front collision warning system activated and immediately applied heavy brake pressure. There was nothing I could do to override it and since there was nothing in front of my vehicle, the cars behind me were not expecting a sudden stop. The car behind me was able to stop in time but narrowly avoided a collision with the rear of my vehicle as a result.

For the past two years, an emergency brake has been activated when an object, such as a car, is close to my front bumper. This is excellent, but occasionally the sensor activates when nothing is in front of me, which is risky and causes my brake pads to wear out more quickly than they should. When I took this up with the Nissan dealer two years ago, they claimed to have rectified it, but they didn't. When I went to another dealership because I was dissatisfied with the service at the prior, I brought up the issue and asked if they could turn off this feature. They said that there wasn't much they could do. They gave it a test drive and found nothing, but since this only occasionally occurs, it is difficult to keep track of it without keeping the car for several weeks, which I cannot afford to do. This seems recall worthy.

I purchased this vehicle new (172 miles) from a dealership that also sells used cars. The vehicle was driven from a dealership about 75 miles away from where I purchased the car. I was told the other miles were from test drives. I think the car salesman switched cars after the test-drive, while I was calling my insurance company (can't prove it). I never returned to that dealership. I took my car to a dealership closer to my home for service several times. The automatic braking system, forward collision warning, the adaptive cruise control all malfunction on a regular basis. The service person told me that Nissan couldn't service these issues without the manufacture of the braking systems approval. The dealership gave me paperwork on my first complaint- no repairs were made. The dealership gave me paperwork on my second visit stating intermittent electrical issues- no repairs were made. I did not receive paperwork on my 3rd visit. My 3year/36,000 miles bumper to bumper warranty (that never got used) has expired. I decided to live with these issues because the car runs well- getting a lawyer seems pointless. I took my car to a different dealership (over 45 miles away) because of the steering. I was told that it would cost me $170 for diagnosis. I agreed to the charge. The service person then had me call Nissan to get a work order number ( I found that very odd) why didn't the service person call Nissan? a mechanic looked at the car and told me that I need a new power steering rack and that it isn't covered under warranty. I asked about the recall on the tie rod ends. I was told the tie rod ends have no bearing (ha,ha) on the power steering rack. I was told the power steering rack would cost $2,800 to have installed. The mechanic said he wouldn't drive the car because a wheel might come off while driving. I wasn't charge for my visit and didn't receive any paperwork. My car is parked in my garage with 47,xxx miles on it and is unsafe to drive.
Brake system failed. Car brake petal was all the way to the floor and grinding to stop. The car didn’t fully stop. Car has be inspected 3 times by dealership. No warning lights on. The car automatic brake goes off randomly and breaks out of no where and put me at risk with causing an accident it has been inspected by dealer as well and this continues to happen. Car jerks and looses power while drive check engine light comes on and blinks. The car has been seen twice by dealer for this issue nothing resolved. Almost caused a major accident first time on freeway and again on a busy intersection. Car is very unsafe and not reliable.
Emergency brake applied for no reason.
The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, the self-driving feature inadvertently activated, and the vehicle experienced phantom braking. The traction control warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the key fob was not detected while inside the vehicle. The display screen intermittently went blank while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the crash collision sensor and speed limit camera were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to woodhouse Nissan (7801 nebraska dr, bellevue, ne 68005) where the key fob was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. The VIN was unavailable.

At 5:44 on hwy 50/elizabeth Ave in pueblo, CO. The automatic emergency braking system locked up with no reason for it to do so. Thankfully we were not rear ended. I have documented via photograph of this system error alert coming on several times a week while driving this vehicle. It has been to the dealership now twice for this issue and will be making yet another appt to get the car back in again.
Automatic "emergency" braking system: I was driving my 2019 Nissan Sentra home a few weeks ago on a 2 lane street going about 35 mph, when suddenly and without warning, with no obstructions/cars in front of or in back of me luckily, my automatic emergency braking system engaged throwing me forward in my car seat even though I was wearing my seat belt and bringing the car practically immediately to a complete stop in the middle of the road and scaring the living daylights out of me! after this I could not drive the car home because I was to scared so I called for help to come get me. Ever since I have been deathly afraid to drive my car. I am lucky I was not in an accident! I have noticed this is a known and reported issue across the internet with this Nissan "safety" system on many of their cars as well as some lawsuits against them for similar incidents. I cannot understand why such a serious and potentially dangerous issue has been left unchecked and unresolved by Nissan or anyone for that matter! this issue is a serious danger for both the driver and passengers of cars with this problem as well as other drivers on the road! I am lucky no one was behind me and my kids weren't in the car! calling the Nissan dealership I found that they want around 150 dollars just to diagnose problem! and if its any of the sensors malfunctioning/needing replacing that its around 750 dollars for one sensor! not including whatever else the defective issue could be. I am not the original owner of this car, I bought it used, I was told by dealership and informed on car-fax that it was never in an accident. So far the problem has not been able to be reproduced, it is an defect/malfunction/issue, that happens unexpectedly when it wants to. Warning lamps activated: front crash warning light which will not go off and I can find no way to reset. I asked dealer to reset it but instead they insisted I pay 150 dollars for a diagnostic I could not afford.

While driving the car this morning at about 30 mph, and with no obstructions around, there was a sudden red flasher on the dashboard (a red long bar with a hazard triangle in the middle, three flashes) and I could feel abs with the car applying emergency brakes automatically. My wife had told me that she also encountered the same problem about two months ago. At that time, we thought it could have been a one off. I bought this vehicle in April 2022. It has done only 1,800 miles. Today's incident was after the 6-monthly (first) service that was done yesterday. I have written to the dealership about this incident today. I am concerned the impact if emergency brake is activated for no reason when driving on the highway. Both my wife and I take turns using the car, and often travel with our two children.

The automatic emergency braking light would continue to flash on and off, signaling it wasn't working correctly. I took it into the dealership to be repaired and two days after receiving my car back the light came back on. I have done research and have concluded that this is an ongoing and common issue throughout particular Nissan models.
Tie rod end snapped/car will stop out of no where.
I have documented over 2 years of my aeb failing by photograph and video time stamping the continual occurances of this system failing on my vehicle while driving. The vehicle has self engaged the braking in the middle of driving, thankfully I was draveling on a residential road at aprox 30 mph. It was quite scary to experience. I also now have no back up camera, the screen is completely black when vehicle is in reverse, drive as well as park. I have restarted the vehicle hoping it was just a glitch in the system. I feel like this vehicle has been and continuing to be more insane to operate and I have literally only had it for 2 years, brand new off the lot July 2020.
Vehicle fails to accelerate and breaks for no reason. Driver is not in control of vehicle. Last I checked I have the drivers license not the vehicle, yet I am unable to accelerate when pressing the gas at times. Other times driving 65 on the expressway the vehicle abruptly stops nearly causing me to be rear ended. Nissan isn’t addressing safety concerns. I’m traumatized by this vehicle.
Was driving down the highway nothing in front of me my car hit the brakes and flashed warning on the dash and made me come to a stop after this happened my fuel economy decreased over 100 miles per tank other times it just activates and taps the brakes for no reason also every window except the driver window gets stuck several times a week another thing some how one of my rims cracked.
My car on two occasions came to a stop while driving . Nothing was in front of me at all. A flashing light came on on the dashboard and my car came to a hault. This was very frightening and now I am afraid to drive the car. The dealership said nothing they can do. This issues needs to be addressed and fixed and a recall needs to be done. This is a huge safety issue!!.
Car suddenly stops while driving down the road. There were no obstacles or other vehicles in front of the car.
At 65mph, I hit a tiny bump. The automatic braking system and collision detection warnings triggered and I lost all acceleration ability. I was nearly hit by a semi while coasting off the freeway in traffic. When inspected by Nissan the first time it happened (9/20/2021), the lights turned off and the computer reset. They did a warranty recall for something unrelated and told me they fixed it. On 5/13/2022 it did it again, and on 5/30 I was told it would not be covered under any warranty - all diagnosis and repair would be my own cost. A sensor should never take control of the car away from the driver. The only way to regain acceleration is to turn the car off. Wait. Turn it on. Wait. Use the menu, turn off automatic emergency braking, drive.
Intermittently the automatic emergency braking system randomly engaging with no obstructions present.
Today 5/10/2022 was the second time our car is said there was a malfunction with the emergency braking system. We believe we depend on our cars safety features and believe all Nissans should be investigated for possible sensor malfunctions. Thank you.
Forward collision warning light came on as I was driving w/ no cars in front of me. The car jerked as if I slammed on my brakes. As I was pulling into my driveway, malfunction see owners manual showed along w/ aeb warning light. I waited a while then came back outside to start car and the brakes were stiff and it wouldn't start. Malfunction see owners manual showed again along w/ aeb warning light and engine light blinking. Then it started to make a constant, solid beeping type noise and shut off. I literally just found about the recall as I never received any type of notice. It took google to tell me this which brought me here.
The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while driving 45 mph and exiting the highway, the forward collision avoidance automatic emergency braking feature engaged inadvertently and the vehicle stopped abruptly, causing the vehicle to fishtail. The contact stated that an unknown red warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that there were no other vehicles nearby at the time of the failure. The next day, the contact notified the dealer of the failure and made an appointment to have a diagnostic test performed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.
Aeb system activated on it's own, 3 times randomly ,brakes slam on for no reason while driving at normal speed. It is available for inspection. If there was a vehicle in behind me there would have been an accident. We just took it tothe dealship to have the system checked and they could not find a problem. It has not been inspected by a manufacturer or others. No warning lights or symptoms prior to failure. I can no l,onger drive this car with confidence.
I drive a 2018 Nissan Sentra sv the vehicle began having problems with the break/ driving assistance feature. The light is continuously turning on and that feature hardly ever works, making me feel unsafe and at risk of my breaks or something else malfunctioning. To make matters worse, my transmission stopped working, causing me to nearly crash/ get into countless car accidents. This didn’t only add unnecessary stress to my life but made me late to my office job and is now costing me thousands of dollars to fix ! the whole point of buying a new or relatively new car is to avoid these type of issues and this is simply unacceptable! I have spoken to many Nissan owners and more than half (about 8/10) have reported having or know someone who had transmission issues, making me believe this is a huge Nissan issue. My transmission completely gave up on me and I know that this is just not right. I work at a law office that deals with accidents / personal injury and know enough to say this ain’t right. I demand to be compensated for such horrible and faulty vehicle that has cost me time, money, and unnecessary stress.
The electrical system is a nightmare in this vehicle. My automatic emergency braking system was activating while I was going 60mph on the highway with no vehicles or reasons to have this feature activate. It happened on numerous occasions. I had passengers in the car and they witnessed it. It was very alarming to be cruising along at 50+ mph and the braking system jolted the car to a stop. I also had to replace the battery twice. Had to purchase a portable jump starter. Had to replace alternator. None of these things should be an issue with a 36 mo lease I complained numerous times how I felt the car was a death trap. I asked for a loaner if I left car since it’s a safety hazard and I’m sickly and must get to my dr appts. I was told by dealer that’s not their problem. I broke down at night alone at least 5 times. My gas said a quarter tank yet I broke down for no gas. The radio volume knob never worked. The driver rear door never locked. System malfunction wld constantly flash on my screen. The car made a ticking noise inside when shut down. My heater didn’t work. I opened 2 consumer affairs claims. They put me off everyday. The girl tyler did nothing. This car is a death trap. I think the dealer knew it had electrical problems. I kept car past end of lease for legal proof. I continued to pay. Finally I gave up. 5 hrs b4 inspection they sent a tow truck to take vehicle. I lost all belongings in trunk. They were still using my registration and never contacted me or returned calls or sent any letter to get my belongings. They kept new battery and battery jumper. Plz I need help. Nissan has been nasty to me and my [xxx] mom and instead of offering some money back they want to put me in collections for $1500 for mileage. Which I kept paying lease plz help us. Nissan resold vehicle. Someone is going to die in that car information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The fcw and the aeb lights come on periodically stating that the system is malfunctioning. Took it to the dealer and they said it was the sensor for the fcw and aeb that has failed. Other vehicles around my mileage and year and model have had the same issues. Nissan needs to take care of this.
Airbag warning light on after purchase. Took vehicle to dealer, repalced an airbag sensor, did not remedy problem. Needs airbag control module, that has an unknown eta for replacment. For issue with auto breaking and foward collision, was merging on freeway, and while accelerating, the dashboard warning lights activated, and the center dash communication area notified me of an error in the system.
Deadly.
My car has been hacked. I know the hacker was able to get my VIN number bec he hacked my computer also (and I had to enter the information to setup autopay etc through my finance company). The hacker has been messing with the brakes which makes me afraid that it will force me into an accident. He is also messing with my rpm (I believe): there's resistance when I'm accelerating.
2019 Nissan Sentra automatic emergency braking system suddenly brakes w/o warning while cars are present or not, sensor light comes on and car will stall or abruptly/automatically stop itself. Malfunction light comes on states malfunction look in owners manual. While driving car automatically stopped at a light or in traffic and would not move forward the malfunction light came on. This has been occurring 2 days after purchase (11-6- 2021- 12-7-2021) until recent. 12-7-21 the car stopped itself at a red light (I was the first vehicle in line no one in front of me or to my sides) on green as I tried to press on the gas the car stalled, the back windows rolled up and down, the radio went on and off, and the malfunction light for aeb flashed then the car locked, then solid engine light came on, @ first I could not get my hazard lights on then suddenly they worked. People drove past me honked, called me names, and finally one person helped me move it out of the road. While on the side of the road the car again was on but when I pressed on gas would not accelerate, however while the brake and emergency brake were on and the car was in park it rolled backwards. My son return it to the purchasing dealership twice with the complaint of the malfunction light on told they did not know what was going on and that it was unusual bring it back for maintenance. Problem persisted. The car has been brought back twice to the dealership with this and other braking/electrical concerns w/in a shorttime before the final major incident happened (I am thankful that no-one was hurt). Right now 12-8-2021, I had been back to the dealership after reporting the incident with the idea that I would be helped and put into a newer safer vehicle, not the case upon arrival they tried to up sell me a new car @ higher price, when I said no, my option was to fix what is covered under warranty. States they will run own diagnostic test.
While driving my 2020 Nissan Sentra, my car proceeded to brake on its own while I was depressing the accelerator. A red warning light flashed across the dash that looked like 2 cars colliding. I was able to maintain control of the vehicle, even though it was acting erratically. The braking occurred abruptly startling me and the drivers around me. Thankfully, the car did not cause a collision. The incidence scared me immensely causing my heart to palpitate and raising my blood pressure. I looked for the indicator light in my manual after I had come to a complete stop and was able to calm down after the scare. The warning was the automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection system warning light. The thing was, there were no pedestrians anywhere near my vehicle, nor were there any other vehicles or objects that could've possibly set the system off. It was clear that this system in my car was malfunction. I'm truly scared to drive my car now. I took the car to the dealer to have it looked at and fixed, however, a couple of weeks later, the same incidence occurred. This time I had my child and husband in the car with me they so scared and were immediately tied by the seat belt. They will were able to witness what I had previously experienced. It scared her as well. This malfunction is going to cause unnecessary collisions that will result in harm to someone. This malfunction could easily induce an accident. It is also causing unnecessary wear and tear on vehicle due to the forceful nature of the abrupt braking. My child and I spend a great deal of time in my car, and I cannot take the risk that this car imposes. Please help me!.
I purchased this car October 10th of 2021 and 2 days after I purchased it I called my service department because I was driving on the highway at 65 miles an hour and the malfunction warning light came on for the automatic braking system and it also depressed my brakes so it scared the crap out of me. I was told that because of the weather it was raining that day that that sometimes happens. I didn't think anything of it on December 10th my son got into a car accident with the car and he did some damage to the front axle and the front end of the car it has since been repaired and now everyday several times a day the same thing happens and it is messing with my brakes and it's scaring me and I don't know what to do.
I was driving down the highway and my automatic emergency brakes system decided to kick in. Scared the hell out of me. Nobody was hurt thank god! luckily there was no cars around me. Or im sure I could have been seriously hurt or even killed. I took the vehicle to Nissan dealership they kept my car for 3 months and supposedly they fixed the problem. But I have proof of the messages and lights on my dash telling me malfucntion. Like wth?.
10/5/21-first noticed something was wrong while backing up veh. Warning signal going off showing driver side rear nothing behind me at the time all clear figured it was just ? I reversed anyway and took off to store while on my way home around 2:30ish while driving about 30-40mph vehicle suddenly activated the automatice emergency braking system red lights on dash indicating it was activated at the time there was no vehicle in front of me! I was approaching a railroad crossing at the time I had my son in the front seat after a few seconds the vehicle released the brakes and I proceeded home of course I was shaken up and had questions as to what was going on? took to dealer 2 days later dealer kept there for over 5 hours and during veh. Updates via text from dealer was told they were going back and forth with Nissan corp. Via email on trying to receive assistance as to how to go about repairing the issue, was also told to pick up veh. Drive for a week and return to check if other codes were noted? so they admit there were codes indicating there was a problem. Not a week yet to return to dealer until next week however I drive over 50miles a day commute to work and I am very scared these days to drive I also have clients I must transport in my personal veh. For work purposes what if someone gets hurt? its so stressful. Im worried!any suggestions? also, on NHTSA website I found by VIN number the veh. Made 2nd,4th and 6th in order after mine which is 0 this is suspicious and troubling.
