1 Body problem of the 2014 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/29/2025

While driving, I noticed smoke coming from the front of the vehicle. Within moments, flames appeared in the engine area and spread quickly, causing severe damage to the front portion of the car including the engine, electrical system, and body. No warning lamps, error messages, or unusual behavior were observed prior to the incident. The fire started suddenly without any indication of mechanical or electrical issues. My safety and the safety of others nearby were put at risk as the fire escalated rapidly. The problem has not been reproduced or inspected by the manufacturer or dealer yet, but the vehicle was completely disabled and is no longer operable due to the fire damage. Cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

3 Body problem of the 2025 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 05/02/2025

The rear window on the 2025 Nissan Sentra shattered for no known reason. The car was parked in my driveway, was ok when I locked it up a 3pm to go for a walk, and when I got home at 3:40, there was a big whole in my back window. None of our neighbors heard or saw anything, and there are no ring doorbells that could have a video of what happened. Police came and looked at it, there is no evidence of a rock or bird hitting it, and no sign of a bb or any other projectile. It appears to have spontaneously shattered. This is not covered under warranty, so I wanted to report this in case there are other reports that could trigger a recall.

4 Body problem of the 2024 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/23/2024

1) while driving at 35 mph with cruise control on, upon approaching an intersection with a red traffic light on, pushing the brake did not affect the vehicle at all. After going through the red light (divided roadway at intersection) and making a fast-moving right turn, pressing the engine on button had no effect. Hard depressing the emergency/parking brake pedal eventually stopped the vehicle. There was no floor mat interference (the mat was securely hooked onto the retaining hooks). 2) the driver's side door would not open when the mechanical lever was pulled; even mutiple times. The only way to exit the vehicle was by pushing the electronic door unlock button. Additional testing indicated that the driver's side door would never open using the mechanical opening handle when the vehicle doors had been electrically locked. In a panic situation, or if the electrical system had failed, this situation could trap a person inside the vehicle.

5 Body problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/10/2024

This vehicle was bought back in Jun of this year. Since purchasing the vehicle with only 49,933 miles this Sentra has broken down 4 times, been in the shop for 1month 2weeks consecutively. The first incident was 4. 5 hrs after purchase. The passenger side tide rod snapped in half on the highway causing the jam and slow down along with leaving me in fear for my life. The passenger rim was inverted facing the driver. The second time happened to be the same issue but at a different dealership. The car went to moss bros san bernardino where it was bought and was there for about 25days . Later it was sent to Nissan of san bernardino and was there for 2weeks. The same day it got picked up from Nissan it was taken back the same day. Had same bumpy and shaking throughout the car. When the tie rod snapped in half it had destroyed the durability of the belt and pulley systems as the vehicle weight was slammed abruptly onto the passenger side of the car leaving it slanted and slid for 2-3 mins on the freeway this caused the engine to become weak which led up to the defective parts breaking over time of driving regularly. The alternator pulley, serpentine belt, axle, and balance to become uneven. So as of 09/10 this vehicle has broke down 4-5 times. Been in the shop since. The vehicle has powertrain warranty but as usual they denied coverage. Total cost is around $2,700 in damages due to the original recall. This tie rod recall has destroyed the vehicle. Congratulation to me cause I still owe 22k. This hazardous, and dangerous vehicle has also been deemed unsafe by chp as of 06/11/2024. This particularly Sentra is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode on the freeway.

6 Body problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 06/19/2024

There is a current open recall campain id r23b3 on the tie rods requiring replacement, however there is no current remedy per Nissan. This faulty tie rod can break and cause complete loss of steering, as there is a stop sale on this vehicle it is not safe to drive. Vaden Nissan has my vehicle every 5000 miles during each service/oil change from 2021 until 2024. I also notified the vaden Nissan dealership again of this open recall issue during my last inspection, they rotated the new tires I had to purchase and sent me on my way. While driving my 2021 Nissan Sentra on atomic road in jackson, SC (a moderately busy highway), I experienced noticeable vibrations through the steering wheel, especially when accelerating and making turns. As I attempted to exit the highway, via a curved off-ramp, the steering wheel became extremely shaky and impossible to turn. I struggled to keep the car within the lane and then completely lost steering control. This caused me to veer off the road and nearly into the shoulder. I experienced such panic and fear as my 2-year-old nephew was in the car seat in the back of my vehicle and was also extremely frightened. I am now extremely unsatisfied with Nissan and its lack of commitment to sell safe vehicles, I cannot legally resell this vehicle in the current condition and am left with no option but to drive an unsafe car, under the lemon law I have the right to sue. I pray that if I absolutely have to drive this Nissan Sentra again there are no injuries, life-altering disabilities or possible death incurred to myself of my passengers. As I have followed all proper protocols and require a rental car that is at minimum safe for transportation.

12 Body problem of the 2017 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/10/2023

My driver door opens while I'm driving, the first time it happened in Feb 2023 had I not have my seatbelt on I would have fell out of car. It has happened severals more times, it feels like the lock or the pin is not engaging. Now my front passenger door is starting as well. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs the woman was arrogant with no concern over my safety, maybe it's a defective door or lock or something and the mgr ashley said Nissan can't help me, I asked a question if this fell under the NJ lemon law and she said no. I also complained that a dealer will not fix my stop light recall pm971 -21v-135 they put me on a waiting list 1 yr ago, I merely asked if this caused an accident what would happen? she sent me an email stating this I should have my attorney contact them. I never even mentioned an attorney and when I asked for the transcript of our conversation she said she cannot release it to me, I asked if she had one and she said yes. . Why wouldn't they release a convo I had with them, can it be used against them? my life is not there concern, I have had Nissans for over 40 years with no issues, I have an issue now and they merely shrugged it off. I would like help regarding these matters as Nissan refuses to help with the safety of my being and to save a buck!! please contact me ASAP the doors are a major concern.

14 Body problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 11/05/2022

When I open the hood, the hood release mechanism sticks in the open position. Closing the hood will not engage the primary lock, only the secondary latch. I need to physically reset the primary latch with a tool (screwdriver) to properly close the hood. If not completely latched the hood could open at high speeds, blocking the view and causing an accident. This vehicle has never been damaged. I have not had this problem looked at by a dealer or a mechanic as the vehicle is out of warrantee and I will most likely be charged a large amount to replace the entire release and latch mechanism to repair it.

15 Body problem of the 2018 Nissan Sentra

E. , when the hood is opened the primary hood latch does not reset, so when the hood is closed only the secondary latch is engaged and the hood remains slightly open. I have to use a screwdriver to reset the primary latch before I can fully close the hood.

23 Body problem of the 2016 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/13/2020

Brought this 2016 in April of 2020, after I initially drove it , my daughter took over driving it since I'm a disabled veteran. My fiance drove the vehicle in June and realized it was a different feeling with the car . Took it to the shop and they replaced two front tires and perform a tune up . My young daughter pick it from the shop and went off to college in baltimore, maryland. She returned to palm beach in September . After she got home , the car just cut off in the middle of the road unexpected. My fiance took the car for a drive and notice it doing the same thing. Took it to two shops who informed me two different diagnosis. , one being the transmission. They inform me to contact Nissan who in turn told me it was the transmission. We had to take the vehicle to a different location at which time on 9/13/2020 , my daughter had a accident due to the fact the car couldn't pick up speed fast enough to merge into the next lane . I'm happy my daughter wasn't hurt but devastated that this car , 4 years old in my possession about 4 months needs a transmission repair. I didn't expect this from a vehicle that I still have 3 years remaining and from Nissan which I thought was a reliable company.

25 Body problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 06/20/2020

Nissan has replaced the door actuators on the front left, front right, back left, and back right multiple times, but the issues persist. The malfunctioning door locks pose a serious safety risk, particularly for children who may open the doors while the vehicle is in motion. Additionally, there is the risk of doors failing to secure properly, leaving the vehicle vulnerable to vandalism or theft. This ongoing problem presents significant safety and security concerns that require immediate attention.

26 Body problem of the 2007 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 06/02/2020

Car was in motion when it begun sputtering and shaking as I accelerated. I drove back home, about 5 minutes, and opened the hood. Car was on and parked for the visual inspection. My partner put the car in reverse to see if I could see what could be causing the problem. The motor shook when it was put in reverse. Immediately something near the fuel lines started to emit smoke. It looked like aluminum foil. The car had a half tank of gas and gauges seemed normal. I turned off the car and went inside the house to get my tools. When I came out, the car was engulfed in flames coming from the motor. 9-1-1 was called and firefighters put out the fire in about 30 minutes. The fire spread rapidly and the car was destroyed when the fire was finally extinguished.

27 Body problem of the 2017 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 05/01/2020

Part 2 of my first complaint about the 2017 Nissan Sentra. There is a bug in my car and I hired 'bug sweeper USA' to find the bug and remove it and they said there isn't a bug and to die. I am frightened and want the bug/transmitter removed, it is against the law in the united states and I want them arrested. I have to trade it up for a better car because I found out that it doesn't have front real drive. This car has terrible blind spots and rear drum breaks. I didn't notice that before it or I wouldn't have bought it. I feel unsafe also because it is terrible going up hills and accelerating. I test drove it on flat roads. I think these cars should be remove from the road and discontinued. I have never bought a car this terribly engineered. 29 Body problem of the 2011 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/23/2020

Hello, my daughter was involved in a motor vehicle accident in which the driver side airbag deployed. She developed some deep cuts on her head and I believe a fracture. I am concerned that her car might be part of the takata airbag recall because I believe that there were pieces of metal from the airbag that caused the deep cuts on her head. Please investigate this. I don't have any photos right now or police reports, but I can get that information if required. Thanks.

30 Body problem of the 2011 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/22/2019

On Sunday, sept 22 2019 at around 1:40pm we were headed home from an vacation at a cabin rental property in sevierville, TN. Not even quarter mile from our cabin on a straight and down hill road all of a sudden the brakes stopped functioning. I applied brakes multiple times but the car didn't stop and in order to avoid a small pond on the right hand side and the car in front I had to divert my car on the shoulder of the road. As I hit shoulder of the road the front passenger wheel busted and the car eventually stopped further at the up hill. I don't know if the brakes failed and/or the abs and/or the onboard computer malfunctioned. I did see abs and vdc lights sign coming on the dashboard for at least 2 hours before disappearing on its own. Also since then the tire pressure sign has never gone off. The tire pressure signs blinks for a little while every time start the car and then gets steady. This seems to be an safety concern to me as I still can't understand how would the car do nothing even after applying the brakes so many times. With an 2011 model and only 56000 miles on it I would never expect something like this to happen. So scared to drive the car now as we have an two year old who was in the car at the time of the incident & my wife got an minor injury to her left elbow. I reported the incident to Nissan by calling 800-647-7261 on sept 24 2019 and haven't heard anything back from them since than.

33 Body problem of the 2012 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/26/2019

The plastic piece on drivers front fender keeps popping out so you have to keep popping it back so it's secure on frame as afraid it will fall off if don't. I noticed it after I had parked. Previously had to have a clip put on to secure the part. So this is second time it's happened if someone hits on that side would cause damage for sure.

34 Body problem of the 2016 Nissan Sentra

35 Body problem of the 2017 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 05/29/2019

I was driving on the highway at 3am on my way to work at 60 mph and the hood of the car released and flew open and slammed into my windshield with high impact. If not for the time and less traffic on the road this could have been tragic. I was able to guide my way onto the shoulder and call a tow truck.
