Other Fuel System Problems of Nissan Sentra - part 1

I purchased a certified pre-owned 2025 Nissan Sentra sv from a local dealership here in georgia for my wife. It had 1500miles on it at time of purchase. We have had it less than a month and observed engine shutdown, and totaled power loss about five times in traffic. This is a safety concern because it is random without prior warning. The engine shuts down, dash screen goes black, and you are unable to warn others with hazard lights due to total loss of power. Recently, the vehicle did give dash codes alluding to the problems described, however the dealership was unable to identify the cause or duplicate the problem. When the incident occurred again, I towed it to the dealership, and they still have not gotten answers as to why the car stalls without warning. Unable to move the gear shift to neutral so that the vehicle can be pushed out of traffic is another safety concern. This car should be fuel efficient, yet we were refueling every other day. Not safe!!!.

I was in the city at red light waiting the green turn on my gas gauge said I have 108 miles to continued driving, then I ran out of gas with no warning, no check engine light and no gas light, in the middle of the street. I was not able to wheel it to the side as I was going on flat street it happens to three time, then I get road assistance, the assistant he thought is the battery problem I told him I have new battery, then car would not start at all , he went to get gas we poured 6 gallon then car started , it happen to me several time now I cannot start to travel long distance ,this it happen me more than 3 times.

I've looked up the years of my vehicle and the year 2014 falls within transmission problems. Cvt to be exact. My transmission just went out and zero chance of fixing. $5000 minimum. Cut has been known to have faults.

I was at a stop light in a busy area and I got a message saying critical engine malfunction warning, engine power reduced. I had to floor the car to get it to 5 mph, then when I got it in the only minimally safe area I could the emergency braking system was the only thing that stopped it. My brakes failed too. My car has only 71k miles and is not quite 5 years old. It's been meticulously maintained as well. This is not acceptable.

The vehicle just slows down and will not go while driving it. This could cause wrecks while driving and car just slows down and won't go. This has a cvt transmission that needs to be recalled. Nissan dealers and other automotive shops have said the cvt transmission in Nissans need to be recalled.

Upon purchasing the vehicle on December 21, 2024, I immediately noticed a delay in acceleration when pressing the gas pedal, particularly after the vehicle had been idling for some time. This delay creates a significant safety risk, especially in situations where quick acceleration is needed, such as merging onto highways or avoiding accidents. Additionally, the vehicle displays incorrect fuel mileage readings, leading to poor fuel consumption and inaccurate fuel gauge readings, further jeopardizing safety due to the potential misjudgment of remaining fuel. During the test drive with the service manager, he almost got into two accidents because of the delay in acceleration. He acknowledged that the issue was caused by the updated cvt transmissions and stated that it would be best to return the car. Despite this, the dealership was unable to fix the problem after multiple visits. I was advised to contact Nissan consumer affairs, who were aware of the delay in acceleration. However, after following up with Nissan, I was directed to file a complaint with the better business bureau (bbb). The issue has been replicated by the service techs, two sales managers, the service manager, and the dealership owner. The service manager confirmed the acceleration delay during the test drive and recommended returning the vehicle due to its unsafe nature. This delay continues to pose a serious safety concern, and I am deeply concerned that it could lead to an accident if not properly addressed.

Battery died at 24,000 miles. Never had any issues until this.

When driving, the car started to stutter when accelerating and while driving any speed below 60 mph, while trying to get the car home it would not accelerate up a hill after I stopped at a light and I was in the middle of the street stuck on a blind spot. My husband had to get out and direct the traffic before they came pst the blind spot and hit me.

This happened to me a total of 3 times. Low fuel light does not come on. First time I had 32 miles until empty no low fuel light came on, car stopped battery light came on. Tried to jump the car and it did not start. Put in some premium gas and it started. Second time same thing happened car slowly stopped and battery light came on. Tried to jump the car did not start, put gas in but this time it didn't start, had to get the car towed. Battery was tested and fine. Mechanic said he believes it is the gas gage being incorrect. Third time this happened today, February 3,2024 50 miles until empty pulled out into the middle of the road and my car stopped. I was in the middle of the road with cars beeping at me. I could not move my car. Battery light came on. Police came and put some gas in the car and it started. This is a dangerous thing happening and thankfully I am okay and it could have been alot worse. Please have this issue looked into and fixed. I will be bringing my car into the dealer Monday for this issue to be resolved hopefully.

My gas gauge said 60 miles until fill up, I ran out of gas with no warning, no check engine light and no gas light, in the middle of the street. I was not able to wheel it to the side as I was going uphill at the time and the steering went out. Traffic had to avoid hitting me as I was completely locked up. There is nothing previously wrong with the car.

Without any warning electric fuel pump failed it show no signs of failing or going bad with fuel being flammable and the pump being electric aside from the risk of the car loosing power while in use the fact of it being flammable and faulty resorts to much bigger issues.

Mass air flow sensor. The check engine light comes on. It’s a safety hazard because the car does not have the power to accelerate so very dangerous when trying to cross intersection driving on the road is dangerous. This mass air flow sensor part is not a maintenance/ regular service. This is the second time I’m having this issue within 14 months. I had it replaced Aug 2022 and now dealership is say I need a new one again.

2016 Nissan Sentra. When accelerating from red light on major multi lane highway, vehicle lost ability to accelerate and stalled in the middle of the road, brake pedal was difficult to press to stop vehicle rolling, and all vehicle dash lights illuminated. The vehicle was put into neutral and pushed across multiple lanes to the side of the highway. The vehicle was then towed to a Nissan dealership in the area. We were told that the fuel pump needed to be replaced at a cost of $1400. Mileage at time of failure was 51,573. Dealership said the fuel pump should last 100,000 miles.

When trying to accelerate, the car begin shudders and then couldn't jerks. The rpm fluctuates and jumps spastically and today, I couldn't accelerate at all and lost power completely after trying to accelerate at a green light. Car also slowed itself down on the interstate while traveling at 70 mph for a month straight and then would stall again about 15 minutes later going 15 mph in a parking lot. Checked the code the check engine light gave about an over retarded cam shaft sensor, replaced it, and am still having the same issue.

When I use my air conditioning my car over heats and blows hot air out ,the gas gauge says I have gas and then ran out of gas 3 times when it said I had 120 miles left the rpm’s go crazy feels like it’s skipping gears I’ve had nothing but problems since I got the car and I got it to feel safe and I do not at all.

When taking off it stutters like having transmissions slip. It decelerates when driving and stalls. Almost made me have an accident when did deceleration on i20.

I bought the 2018 Nissan Sentra from rusty eck Ford in wichita around 11 months ago. 2 days later I took it back in because stepping on the gas, it shuddered and had difficulty going into gear. I was told, I needed to relearn how to drive. I received a legal notice that I am in a proposed class action lawsuit (Nissan cvt litigation settlement administrator) because there are known defects in the cvt transmission. My car is now sitting at briggs Nissan service requiring a full new transmission $5500. 00 I have pleaded with Nissan corp, orr Nissan in wichita and briggs Nissan in manhattan KS,and back to rusty eck Ford to help me. These were known defects. My transmission went out on a major highway and I about caused a pileup. I live on a fixed income. I went to the loan company asking for a refinance I owe $17,000+, they won't help me and rusty eck won't help even though that is where the loan originated from. I don't know what to do. I think all these service centers would hope I kill myself so I won't bother them anymore. You got lawyers in California that help their people. But there is no one to help me. Why would a company send out a vehicle with known transmissions defects. I think it is truly they wanted them to go out so that the buyer as to purchase a whole new transmission and point the finger and say buyer beware. I know you probably cannot do anything.

Vehicle idles low when driving and rpms rev at stops, then almost stalling. When applying the break the vehicle lunges forward. When accelerating vehicle doesn’t want to move. Near misses when making left turns and in heavy traffic. Repeating and ongoing issue. Steering wheel goes limp and fails to respond.

Vehicle lunges while trying to stop. In heavy rush hour traffic vehicle nearly lurches a vehicle length while slowly applying the break. For months the dealership claimed it was “functioning as expected” 7 visits later they finally determined it is the election intake valve. Dealership refuses to replace the part and it is a known issue, was sent away 2 times without it being fixed and they are aware I’m still driving it with the malfunctioning part. Huge safety risk! vehicle other issues have been erg valve, motor mount, plastic parts coming off, master control switch in the door, electric intake valve, crash detection system failure and throwing codes, many more codes not provided by the dealerships. Death trap vehicle, Nissan will not address issues. Owned for 8 months 15 visits to the dealerships 2 + months out of service and still no resolution! Nissan made a lemon, not a sound vehicle, waste of time and money!.

The car quits as I’m driving it , the headlights and the dome lights go dim and radio light flickers then it goes completely out and when I’m driving the car it has a rough idle and in order to keep the car running when I get to a stop light or stop sign is to put the car in park .

I purchased this car in 2018 with 30k miles. In 2020 I had to replace the transmission. Now 2022 and I have to replace the transmission again. The car is decelerating and sputtering at times. But it’s not covered? how does a car have three transmissions within such a short time under 120k miles?.

The car will not shift into third or accelerate over 2,000 rpms.

I was approaching my driveway in front of my house and my vehicle had smoke eminating from a glove compartment area when I got out of the car and checked underneath the hood the car was on fire I got out just in time there was something wrong there could have been the engine fuel system I just recently had an oil change 2 weeks ago the incident April 2, 2022 I was in fear for my life because I had no signal from the car what was happened I had just recently had an oil change a week and a half before the incident I noticed that flames were starting to rise and massive flames of ire than fumes of smoke and all of a sudden the car started burning and then the exploded destroying the entire car. Fire department was called lieutenant thompson and his staff came out to put out the fire and the car was towed away was nothing left but the frame. As I was driving across the railroad tracks, my car just stop. There was no warning or indication that there was a problem, it just stopped and all the lights shut down as well. No brake, head or emergency lights worked.

Over some period of time that I do not remember, months likely, my average fuel mileage started to go down. I started to then notice that I had a faint at first, then stronger, smell of gasoline, after filling up, that would linger for days. It would be inside and outside of my vehicle. I then got a loose fuel cap warning after filling up one day. It wouldn't be immediate but it would come the second time I started my car after filling up. It would keep coming back after each filling up. I just dealt with losing my fuel efficiency and the smell until January 2022, I noticed after a fill up it had actively leaked gasoline. A mechanic looked at my vehicle and says that the gasket at the top of my gas tank was completely flat instead of round and that it was leaking from there and had been for awhile due to the build up off debris he saw.

Caught on fire under the hood and burned the car very badly. Fire department was called to extinguish the fire. The damage was total to the under the hood components and hoses and wiring harnesses. Car ignition was off while I was in the store for just a couple of minutes and when I came out the car was in flames. I could see the car from inside the store through the window and no one was around it at all.

When driving at 70 or above mph for a long distances, speed automatically declines to 60 mph and will not increase. When trying to accelerate, nothing happens. After a few miles, my vehicle then starts to accelerate on its own. The problem is extremely unsafe and frightening, especially with express highway traveling. Ive traveled out of state and the past 6 months when I've moticed this now frequent problem. I informed my mechanic who said it could be my transmission or possibly fuel pump, which are not his areas. He advised talk to Nissan and stated Nissan is known for faultly transmission s on Sentras. Mines is a 2012 with only 126k of mileage. Was was there no recalls on this? I will now see what dealer has to say. What can be done to hold Nissan responsible? I 've screenshot an article regarding many complaints on this. Now my transmission seems to have my engine feeling like it is not in drive gear. I am making an appointment w/ Nissan ASAP. Please respond.

There is a safety recall on this vehicle but there is no remedy available. I am trying to list this car through a rental platform but because of the recall, they won’t let me. I need this recall resolved or have the VIN pulled from the list of recalls.

It says my vehicle has 0 unrepaired recalls, however I've noticed that these vehicles have reported fuel leakage due to faulty seals when the tank is full. I got the car used & I was wondering if I have any chance of getting this issue fixed.

As my vehicle was exiting a major highway, the vehicle began to shake and putter. I was able to put my vehicle in park within 1 minute of this puttering. Once in park, the vehicle began to shake more rapidly and louder. I assumed something terrible was going to happen and shut the car off. After an hour and a half, I started the vehicle back up and not to my surprise experienced the puttering and shaking once again. I put the vehicle in drive and began to slowly step on the gas while turning into the road and the car shut completely off and slid back toward the curb with the engine light on and battery. I had to call aaa to have me towed home and on their arrival, they were able to back the vehicle up and forward as long as he pushed down full throttle. The aaa representative suggested through his knowledge of mechanics that it seems there is an issue with either the spark plugs or the fuel pump/filter combo. After changing the spark plugs and still having this issue tonight. . . . We are leaning towards the pump as the issue. There were no lights or warnings prior to the shaking that began as stated in this entry.

When driving at speeds above 70 mph, the rpm’s start to surge. Going from 2. 5 rpms to 5 rpms without any acceleration in speed from the driver. I have video of it when the cruise control was being used and the rpms surged and fell back. The fuel efficiency screen also shows a decrease in efficiency when the rpms go up. Have also had a loss of power when trying to pass and tried to increased speed - yet the engine surged/faltered. It happens every time I exceed 70 mph. I picked the date when I have video of this occurring. However, it happens whenever I exceed 70mph.

Ever since I first purchased the car it wants to die and it seems like it doesn't want to go when I press the gas. It does this when I stop or when I press the gas.

My fuel pump went out.

Was driving to work busy road car basically shut down to limp mode could not accelerate very close call two cars nearly side swiped me had to creep at 2mph to curb. Called tow truck took vehicle home where it sat proceeded to try and fix car overtime. Has never been the same since.
