I have a 1996 Nissan Sentra gxe. VIN number is 3n1ab41d0tl0xxxxx. There are three open recalls on my vehicle: 1. Visibility:windshield wiper/washer:linkages 2. Suspension:front:springs:coil springs 3. Exterior lighting:tail lights none of the Nissan dealers in my area have offered to fix any of these recall issues for free (as is required by federal and state law). My vehicle still has these safety defects in it and I don't know what to do about it because I know that Nissan is ultimately responsible for fixing these recall defects.
: the contact stated while driving various speeds with the windshield wipers engaged, the windshield wiper linkages separated at the joint pivot without warning and became inoperative. The contact replaced the windshield wiper linkages which corrected the problem, however afterwards, the linkages separated again with normal use. The manufacturer was alerted. There was a NHTSA recall, # 98v093000, regarding the windshield wiper linkage. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN.
: the contact stated while driving 35mph the leakage ball that connects the windshield wipers to the wiper motor snapped without warning. The vehicle had not been inspected. There is a NHTSA recall, # 98v093000, regarding the windshield wiper linkages. The vehicle had the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the VIN.
12/28/04. . . I was driving on 2nd Ave in troy, NY, it began to snow/rain. . . Turned on my wipers and that is when I heard a snap noise and then my drivers side windshield wiper arm seemed to be broken. I took it to my mechanic the very next morning and they said it was broken, that a plastic piece snapped off. It was a dealership item, but that it is a Nissan recall item. My mechanic printed out the recall info and I went to the Nissan dealer in latham, NY. I was very upset when they told me that the part is a back order part and would not be in until sometime in January of 2005. Meanwhile, I have to go to work and can't drive in the rain, snow, sleet, hail. When I asked why they couldn't fedex the part the dealership in latham told me it is because it is a back-order item. I asked them if they could loan me a car due to the fact that it is a recall item. They told me they didn't know and then promised I would hear from them the same day in a little while, they had to wait on an answer from someone. I never heard back, so I called them. They said they could get me a rental car, but I had to pay for it. I was very upset because first of all, this defect is not my doing. Second, I can end up with no job if I can't get to my job. That is the entire problem, no car to go to work with if it rains or snows while waiting on Nissan for the part on back order. The name and address of the dealership nemith motor corp. , route 9, box 669, latham, NY 12110. 1-800-395-0798.
Windshield linkage were defective, and windshield wipers did not work. Consumer contacted the manufacturer, and this vehicle was not included in recall. 98v093000. The consumer had the link assembly replaced. The brakes felt spongy and the left front seat did not move properly on track.
The driver's side windshield wiper malfunctioned. A recall was issued for this make, model and year, however the vehicle identification number was included.
(1) it was a light rain. The wiper is in the lowest setting. Both wipers stopped working. I can hear the wiper motor running but the wipers doesn't operate. (2) as it was no raining hard, I was still able to drive vehicle safely home. I found there is a recall for the windshield wiper/washer:linkages for 1997 Nissan Sentra. (3) contacted Nissan about the problem because I have never receive a recall notice but I am told the recall doesn't applied to my VIN number. I took the vehicle to a Nissan dealership repair shop. They replaced the wiper transmission which consists of the pivot-assy-wipe(r), and 2 link assy-conne(ctor). The old parts are unavailable.
Windshield wipers failed to engage. Husband diagnosed windshield wiper system, power to wiper motor was okay, continued to troubleshoot, found wiper arm control seperated from wiper motor. Seems like the same issue the recall 98v093000 pertained to. Husband lubricated ball joint, and squeezed socket to ball back together. No problems since repair.
This complaint is regard to the voluntary recall on the '97 Nissan Sentra's wiper seal. When I contacted the dealer and then the 1-800 Nissan customer service line I was told that the recall didn't apply to my vehicle despite the fact that it falls within the range of numbers given on Nissan's own website (clipped from web page - 1n4*b41d**c700022 to 1n4*b41d**c970327 (sentra)) with a VIN#1n4ab41d0vc721079. I purchased this as a used vehicle and so it is not unreasonable to expect that the wipers could have failed through normal wear and tear. However, I would like a better explanation as to why the recall doesn't apply when by all indications on Nissan's own web site it appears to apply.
On my 1999 Nissan Sentra 1. 6l,it appears that I am having the same problems with the wiper linkage assembly as on the 1996's,97's,and 98's. There are no recalls for the 1999's! can I get this fixed for free or what? it is a real pain because I can't see out the drivers side window during rain or snow storms. I shouldn't have to pay for a legitimate recall as on other years.

While driving the windshield wiper on the driver side quit working. Recall 98v093000 was issued, but this vehicle wa snot included due to VIN.
Nissan has a safety recall for windshield wiper linkage (see NHTSA campaign 98v093000). According to the Nissan web site my vehicle (1n4bb41d3wc720207) is in the range of affected vins. My wipers failed in the exact manner described in the safety recall (wear of the ball joint in the wiper linkage causing the linkage to separate), but Nissan (and the Nissan dealer) refuse to perform the repair work under the recall campaign. They claim that my particular VIN, although in the correct range, is not affected. The failure occurred during a heavy downpour on a busy interstate highway and nearly caused a very serious accident. I think Nissan needs to take a close look at which vins are truly affected by this problem.
My Nissan Sentra recently needed to have both windshield wiper linkages replaced due to the problem with water entering and rusting out the bearings. I new of the safety recall but all the dealer did was add a ridiculous 10 cent strip of foam to the panel above the fallen apart bearings. Both me and my stepfather argued with the dealership and Nissan motors but they refused to replace the bearings free of charge. My stepfather ended up buying and replacing them himself but in the meantime I got a $50. 00 ticket because during this delay my inspection sticker ran out and I couldn't get a new one until the wipers were fixed.
Vehicle was a part of recall 98v093000; water entered and displaced grease in windshield wiper arm linkage ball joint, where wiper linkage attaches to wiper motor linkage. Consumer purchased vehicle used, but dealer had advised that recall was previously repaired. However defect continues, and winshield wipers were disfunctional.
Vehicle experienced recall component failure (98v-093) prior to recall notification, consumer requesting reimbursement.
