1 Wiper problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 09/01/2024

[xxx] 06/29 637 1). A feature of the auto intelligent headlight feature is not working on 2020 Sentras, all trims. During the daytime (rain or snow) when the windshield wipers are turned on and swish back and forth 4 times, it’s supposed to automatically turn on headlights (which also turns on tail lights so you’re not rear ended). 2). Additionally, when the headlights are in “headlight” mode (not automatic mode), the owners manual states when the engine is turned off and the door is opened you will get both an alarm chime and a visual warning on the drivers display that lights are on and to turn them off. Just like any normal car going back for 20 years. Well it doesn’t work in 2020 Sentra. Only way I can get feature to chime or show the display warning is to toggle the headlight control switch to “parking lights” and back to “headlights”!. Of course, if I can remember to do that I could remember to turn off the headlights! auto intelligent headlights is explained on the Nissan website, and the 2020 Sentra brochure states it as a standard feature on all trims. I also have a personal letter from Nissan stating 2020 Sentras have all of this feature. [xxx] intelligent auto headlights | innovation | Nissan’s intelligent auto headlights: Nissan’s various technologies, including electrification, autonomous drive, connected car & service, mobility service, and energy management, are introduced. [xxx] [xxx] it doesn’t work. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs, after 2 months and being handed off to 2 customer service reps they finally sent a corp dts rep to look at car. After 4 hrs examining it, he contacted the internal only “Nissan tech talk”, only for Nissan mechanics and you must have a dealer code to access, not for the public. Turns out, they knew that due to a new wiring system in the 2020 Sentra’s those features and a fog light auto feature don’t work! apparently it’s a defect, I was never notified they information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2 Wiper problem of the 2012 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/13/2024

The rearview mirror fell off the windshield and was hanging by the wires, which was found when entering the vehicle to drive; when touched, the wires and everything fell the rest off the way off the windshield. Glass from the windshield broke off with the rearview mirror. This was hazardous to be missing while driving and has prevented visibility and impacted safety. A mechanic is repairing the vehicle and has never seen anything like this issue, but upon looking up this specific problem, it appears many Nissan Sentra owners have experienced the same issue.

3 Wiper problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 04/20/2023

Wiper will not function. Turning car on/off multiple times will not cause wipers to function. Turned off car and removed all plugs, wipers still will not function. I have a video trying to fix the problem and issue is not resolved. This has happened 5 times already. Took car to dealer ship and they could not replicate issue. We are driving car in oregon where it rains lots, and with wiper not working our visibility is close to none. This can seriously cause an incident due to low visibility.

4 Wiper problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 03/28/2023

Car was on. The original, rear camera display screen, was fully functional when the vehicle was put in reverse previously. The rear camera was always functional/ this is the first time I’ve seen this occur. The car was put in reverse but this time the rear camera screen was completely blue. I put the car in park, waited a few seconds, and then put it back in reverse; only to have the same result. I came out of the car, opened the trunk, and closed the trunk. When I went back into the car, the rear camera was showing on the screen. I made a video as well.

5 Wiper problem of the 2017 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/07/2023

Multifunktion switch/combination switch malfunction. The issue involved the switch malfunctioning, causing the washer pump to stay on, spraying wiper fluid on the windshield and continue running until the pump failed, causing the fuse to short out and blow. This causes complete loss of visibility during the malfunction. This is reported widely with the 2017, 2018, and 2020 Nissan Sentra on various web platforms. The entire combination switch has to be replaced for the malfunction to be corrected.

6 Wiper problem of the 2021 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/01/2023

8 Wiper problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 01/15/2021

During the day when raining or snowing & windshield wipers are used, headlights are supposed to come on automatically after several wipers swishes. I'm having to turn the headlights on manually (state law lights must be on when wipers on). There's no consumer note that says 2020 Sentra is exempted from this. I believe they put wrong module in all new models & it doesn't function properly, so instead of a recall they just tell everyone they're not supposed to have that particular feature. Most drivers won't realize they don't have it. It was perfect storm of events for me to discover. It has to be daylight, raining or snowing and the car in front of me on the highway was my spouse, who noticed my headlights were not on. Took me a while to figure it out. Very difficult to look down while driving in storm & manually turn headlights to appropriate headlight mode, not a simple switch. There's 3-4 modes (auto, headlights, parking lights, off and fog lights). The car is equipped with intelligent auto headlights (stated in car brochure, also on Nissan website). According to Nissan website, with auto intelligent headlights headlights are supposed to turn on automatically when front windshield wipers used due to rain. I also received confirmation of this via twitter from Nissan. The factory rep, looked at it for several hours and concluded it doesn't have it, and he thinks it supposed to be that way, even while acknowledging the website and brochure say otherwise. This is a safety issue as this car normally runs in automatic headlight mode. When driving in a rain or snow storm during the day, the driver has to remember the lights will not come on automatically and they will need to be turned on manually while driving in a storm. Driver also has to remember to shut them off, and there is no warning system that lets you know lights are still on and in manual mode.

9 Wiper problem of the 2020 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 12/13/2020

When headlights are set to automatic they do not come on when running the wipers. The only way to get them on when raining is to manually select them. The owners manual states that they should turn own automatically with wipers.

13 Wiper problem of the 2016 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 08/11/2019

When the combination switch is used to actuate the windshield washer, the fluid continues to spray after it is released. Only pulling the switch down, and back up, will cause it to stop. This happens regardless of whether the vehicle is parked, or in motion. Occasionally the washers will spray upon starting the vehicle, only stopping with manipulation of the combination switch.

15 Wiper problem of the 2015 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/23/2018

My sunroof exploded randomly as I was driving home from taking my daughter to school at about 7:30 am on 10/23/2018. I was driving straight on a local highway going about 55 mph. I heard an extremely loud boom above my head. I pulled over in shock thinking that a bomb had gone off near me. I was confused and alarmed to find that my sunroof had completely shattered. There is no evidence of anything hitting my car.

16 Wiper problem of the 1996 Nissan Sentra

"takata recall". Mad a right hand turn and both front airbags randomly deployed. They caused the front windshield to crack badly. Didnt hit another car nor anything with making the turn. Was moving in a city street at 9pm so not much traffic. Turned into an empty street luckily.

17 Wiper problem of the 2015 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/27/2017

I was driving on I-49 in louisiana traveling at 70 mph when I hear a loud noise, like a gunshot. I realized my sunroof had shattered. The cover was open at the time so glass fell into my car, and in my lap/hair. I did get a few cuts on my hands from the glass. I don't think anything hit the sunroof, it shattered spontaneously. The dealership says I have to go through my insurance company to get it fixed.

18 Wiper problem of the 2017 Nissan Sentra

20 Wiper problem of the 2010 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/05/2014

I purchased a used 2010 Nissan Sentra sl on July 5, 2014 from a Nissan dealer. The very next day I discovered that when I moved the sun visor down to block the sun rays while driving, each time I moved the visor down or up it hit the rear view mirror. I needed to readjust the mirror before it was useful again. When the sun is just above the horizon it is particularly dangerous because it's impossible to set the visor to block the sun rays from hitting my eyes while driving due to the positioning of the mirror in relation to the visor. This feels very dangerous when driving in heavy traffic because the mirror needs to be reset every time the visor is moved up or down. These seems a major factory installation glitch. I complained to the Nissan service manager where I bought the car. He said he checked other 2010 Nissan Sentras on their used car lot and all of them had the same issue. Why hasn't a factory recall been initiated for this issue? this is dangerous issue for safe driving.

21 Wiper problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/05/2014

I am concerned about the safety of my vehicle due to the way it was designed. It is impossible to keep the front windshield from fogging up or icing up while driving in inclement weather. The defroster does not allow enough heat to blow on the windshield to keep it clear during driving, causing the driver's visibility to be obstructed and making it a safety hazard. Due to the fact there is not enough heated air blowing on the windshied, a large section of the corners (especially the passenger side) becomes coated with fog or ice, obscuring vision. The right windshield wiper even becomes coated with a large chunk of ice on the tip, causing it to stop wiping the right side of the front windshield. On a long trip, the driver has to stop the vehicle to manually clean the wiper and windshield on the right side or continue driving without being able to see clearly. This is not always an option, especially if driving on an interstate where there is no safe place to pull off the road. The vehicle is not designed to be driven in a cold climate (like wintertime in the USA). Another safety risk I have run into with this vehicle is the placement of the gas tank release button. In order to reach the button, one has to open the driver door and reach down under the front dashboard to pop the gas tank. This makes the driver vulnerable to anyone on the outside of the vehicle who may want to attack or rob the driver from behind while their door is open and they are bending forward.

22 Wiper problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 12/04/2013

The windshield washer fluid does not get sprayed onto the windshield. Rather, the fluid sprays the base of windshield wiper and traps the liquid between the bottom of the blade and into the wiper well. Pinhead sized dots of fluid make it halfway up the windshield offering no fluid for the wipers to use to clean the window. After 4 good pulls, excess washer fluid drained from the wiper well and ran down the side of the car exiting from the driver wheel well. The wipers do not "grab" and carry up onto the windshield the excess fluid as it drains back into the wiper well as the fluid is sprayed at the base of the wipers out of reach of the blade. I have just returned from taking my car to sid dillon Nissan in Lincoln, nebraska, and was told if they adjusted the sprayer it would spray the inside of the hood and they must leave the nozzles where they are. I should note the nozzles are anchored to the hood and raise up and away from the engine (no fluid lines attached when hood is open) when the hood is raised this is dangerous. . . I will not be able to clean my windshield (which is the purpose of the fluid sprayer) when encountering post-storm highway sludge, melting and dirty snow are thrown onto the windshield of my car by other vehicles. I do not know if the nozzles are defective and the service department is reluctant to replace them or if this is a design flaw. Either way, if the windshield gets dirty while I am driving, I will not be able to see. This is terrifying.

23 Wiper problem of the 2011 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

The visor on our 2011 Nissan Sentra 2. 0 s blocks the view of our rear view mirror. We cannot use our mirror safely with the visor down. We have not taken to dealership to have checked. We have not had any crashes or injuries in our vehicle because of this, but it is very nerve wrecking trying to back out without being able to see. It has been this way since we purchased this vehicle and continues to be a problem even today.

Failure Date: 07/28/2011

I have a 1997 Nissan Sentra and on a rainy day my windshield wipers quit working without warning. The wiper transmission motor sounds like its working but nothing happens. It has been suggested it is a faulty wiper arm. I found out about recall 98v093000 and called Nissan north America.
