Brake Grinding Noise problems of the 2004 Nissan Titan

I was driving my 2004 Nissan Titan from work when coming up to a stop leaving the long driveway to enter the main rd I pushed on the brakes and the pedal dropped to the floor and began vibrating and making a grinding noise like when you step on the pedal very hard and the abs comes on, except the brakes did not engage. The truck did not stop. I flew through the stop sign in front of other coworkers leaving a building to the north. The road only went left and right so I could not make the turn so I had no options and went across the road, hit the curb, went into a field where a mesquite tree stopped me. I put the truck into park and shut it off. When I restarted it the brakes are back and working like nothing ever happened. I left the truck there and went home to begin my normal google searches and whats the cause and how to fix this problem myself. Ive found hundreds if not thousands of online complaints on this very issue. The most recent notes are of a class action lawsuit that Nissan has agreed to pay because of faulty parts that cause their vehicles not to stop. They where quoted that they will not issue a recall unless ordered to do so in numerous news articles. Please process this recall before someone else gets hurt or killed. Please help.

While driving, red "brake" dash warning light suddenly came on. Truck's brakes then had limited braking ability & were hard to use. They pushed a ways down, had crummy stopping power, made grinding noises, and a vibration when trying to use them. I was able to finally stop. I shut off truck and restarted it. The light went off and brakes act normally. After braking again a short time later, the light came on again and had the same problems. I once again was able to reset the light by shutting off the truck. This is very dangerous, as it just suddenly happens and your braking ability goes to "poop" when driving. After this happened to me, I see there are many complaints on-line in various forums about this issue which has not been addressed by Nissan or a government recall.

Sudden brake loss while driving at about 30mph. It has occurred before and seems to have increased after a fuel pump replacement. I'd guess 10 times in the last week now, I've known about the issue for some time and was reading about the class action lawsuit which I believe only covered the residents of California and the comments suggested to file a complaint here. It's the same thing, the emergency light comes on while driving and when apply brakes there is no pressure and an awful grinding noise. Once you come to a safe stop, turn off and back on, and the problem is gone! previously, it had been weeks and even maybe months in between but now it seems to have turned in a daily task. Any update on recall or nationwide class action lawsuit would be appreciated.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. The contact stated while driving 15 mph, the abs and brake warning lamp illuminated and the vehicle started making a loud grinding noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing and the technician was unable to determine the cause of failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage were 107,000.

Slowing for a stop, brake pedal mushed and a grinding abs shudder presented. As speed was low, I was able to manage a stop of the vehicle. Returned home slowly and turned the truck off. Turned it back on and the problem was gone. Two days ago the slack pedal and grinding noise occurred again. Called dealership who replied "no awareness of similar complaints. Bring in when experiencing symptoms. " researched online and found numerous complaints. Requested a service time at the dealership for replacement of the delta stroke sensor/booster components. Cannot imagine driving this big truck hoping to lose braking at a time when, with no risk to myself or others, the dealership can see/hear the problem. Shockingly unethical! my only concern is that the new components may be just as faulty. Please add my voice to those calling for Nissan and/or the ntsb to address this before someone loses their life . . . Or have they already and it has not been attributed to this failure??.

While attempting to stop the vehicle at an intersection the brakes failed. The "brake" light came on, it made a grinding noise and I had no brakes. I took the vehicle to my mechanic and after checking the computer for embedded codes he found two code failures (c1104 & c1179). I have googled these problems and it seems that many other Nissan armada and Titan owners have had the same problems. This is a serious problem and Nissan needs to issue a recall before someone is killed.

Brakes feel like the abs has engaged and the following warning light on the dash come on; brake, vdc off, slip, and service engine. This started happening soon after I purchased the truck new. Dealer ran diagnostics but couldn't find anything. This problem has happened well over 20 times while backing out of my driveway and driving at high and low speeds. Once this happens the brakes feel mushy and make a loud grinding noise. The only fix is to stop the truck, put it in park and stop and restart the engine. This is dangerous when it happens on the freeway. The occurrence of this problem is very intermittent. Last occurrence was on July 25th and before that July 18th. It may go a month or so before happening again. Two other employees at my company also have 2004 Titans and have the same problem. My local Nissan dealer suggest that the next time it happens to bring it to them so that their mechanic can see the issue first hand.

The break light on my dash comes on and when I press on the break I hear a grinding noise on my 2004 Nissan Titan. It has done this about 15 times since I have owned this truck. It recently did it on the date stated below.

I was driving down the highway at normal speed around 55-65 in houston texas. A car pulled in front of me and I had to put the brakes on quickly. When I applied the brakes the pedal mushed completely to the floor making a grinding noise and the vehicle barley slowed down. I made my way to the side of the road as the brakes made an loud grinding noise, and lost brakes completely. When I finally stopped(with out getting hit my cars) I depressed the brake and there was no response. I had to turn the truck off and as I sat there I heard a noise under the dash, like something reset itself. I start the truck up and moved slowly forward to see if I had brakes and suddenly they were working again. This truck has done this a million times and it is just by luck that I have no been involved in an accident when the brakes go out. The dealership says there is no recall and nothing he can do without a thousand dollars and then he isn't sure it will fix the problem. I am stuck with this truck and it continues to loose the brakes. The passenger airbag light has been on since 2011.

When the brakes were applied, there was a squealing and grinding noise. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer to have the brakes replaced. The front rotors were out of round and the vehicle would shimmy.
