Brakes - sitting at the used car dealership since 8. 8. 2025. The truck will not stop when the brakes are applied. If the vehicle does not stop when brakes are applied. Lives are at risk if they are hit or ran over. Inspected by a Nissan dealership, invoices are available. The brake booster is no longer manufactured by Nissan. No repair is available. Unknown. No accidents have occurred due to this, we are in fear of our safety to drive it. The sales manager at the dealership disconnected the abs. We purchased this vehicle on 6. 23. 2025. The brakes were not working within driving this vehicle for less than 3 weeks. We have made a formal complaint to the dealership. Taken it to a certified Nissan dealer. The dealership we purchased this truck from has ignored every request we have made. We hired an attorney here in st. George, ut. The dealership has not replied to our attorney. This vehicle is not safe to be driven on the roads. We would like to know what the safety measures are in place for a used vehicle dealership to sell an as-is-vehicle. Please see that I have attached all of our documentation we have provided to the state of utah, our attorney and to the motor vehicle division of the state of utah. A persons safety in their vehicle is a must.

I went in to get a truck on July 11th. . . They had to get the truck started by jumping the battery that they said would be replaced. While rushing us without offering a test drive insurring the truck was sound and mechanically stable. We then drove off in the 2004 Nissan Titan and all the lights on the dash came on shortly after. Vrd abs and brake as well as check engine light. The brakes then went out on us as we reached out home. The next day we informed them of what happened, they said it was just water on the brakes to give it a day and see what it does. It happened again and when we took it back they said the mechanic was gone to come back. Thats when we noticed the cara registration was for another vehicle and started to wonder if they had taken the car to emmisions at all. Check engine light was om since we left the lot. Before our first payment I spent $900 on parts had roadside called 4 times and replaced the battery. The truck didnt last to the first payment. Completely lost all braking power. This truck was taken to a mechanic that told us it would not have passed emissions when we got it because the history on the check engine light showed it was only cleared and not addressed.
Break sign appears on dashboard while driving the vehicle. Strange noises come from brakes and breaks does not apply properly. It happened many times in the past and I pull over safely, turn the engine off and turn the engine on break sign is gone and breaks start working ok. Then it happens again and again. Very unsafe to pull the car on side of busy highway, then turn the engine off and on.

Emergency brake and rear brakes got covered in gear oil because the rear differential seal leaking. It started spewing all over the place and when I tried to come to a stop it took way longer than normal forcing me to swerve to miss a pedestrian and hitting the curb and a bush. This should be a safety recall because the differential leaking on the brakes is definitely a safety concern.
Attempted to stop while traveling down parking garage ramp. When brake pedal was depressed it went to the floor and the audible sound of the anti-lock brake system (abs) pump cycling. At this point there was no braking power. Pedal was lifted and brakes where applied again. Again, the pedal dropped to the floor and the audible abs pump could be heard. At this point driver had to deiced to crash the car into a concrete column to prevent larger accident into payment booth. Driver continued into a concrete column at approximately 15 - 20 mph and crashed. Airbags deployed. Vehicle had to be towed from scene. After accident, mechanic repairing vehicle informed the driver of technical service bulletin (TSB) 452131 pertaining to this same issue, "antilock brake system (abs) code c1179. Intermittent brake pedal supposedly goes to the floor. Tech has not experienced".
My rear axle seals failed, began leaking. It happens to every single Titan, it needs to be recalled. Just search online, nearly every owner has this issue. Nissan needs to do what's right and help people that have their great trucks.
When to stop as entered freeway entrance, brake pedal dropped about 1/2 way and no initial brake power. Then vehicle dynamic control kicked in and got limited braking back as vehicle shuddered and twisted slightly. Restarted and worked ok. Also happened July 12. Happened again on 8/17 while towing. Can't trust the brakes!! other times brakes work fine.
Just last Friday (03-15-2013) afternoon, while looking over the truck- I decided to look underneath it to give it a once over. Earlier in the week I had noticed the brake pedal kind of spongy(especially in the morning). I thought there might be a problem with the brakes. To my surprise I found that both rear axles were splattered with fluid(axle grease). I had read that this was a problem with early model Titans. I went into a Titan forum and found there were a lot of folks, that owned these trucks-having the same problem. In the forum there was this very site to report this issue. So thus this writing.
The rear axle oil seal leaks onto the rear brakes causing them to not work.
2004 Nissan Titan truck - rear axle seals are leaking so badly oil is getting on the rear brake rotors causing them to be in-operative. This is a very serious problem experienced by many Titan owners as shown with a simple internet search.
I too have2004 Titan whit brake problem, warnin light comes on pedel gose to floor. Replace brake disk and inspeted all brake parts problem keep comeing back after severl days . Nissan need to do a recall before someone is killed.
While driving on the road, I pressed the brake pedal to avoid hitting the rear end of another car while it was stopped to make a turn. Without warning, the pedal went to the floor and the abs unit came on as well as the "brake" warning light. I had to pull off the road to avoid hitting the car in front of me. The pedal action continued until I could get off the road safely. When stopped I checked the brake fluid and it was at the max line on the reservoir. As a mechanic, I later checked the vehicle for codes stored. It was found to have code "c1179" indicating a possible delta stroke sensor/signal fault. This has happened twice with this truck. Luckily, the first time, no one was in front of me. I really am concerned that this type of fault could seriously injure any occupant(s) in either vehicle or possibly a pedestrian. It may prove to be fatal in any case. One possible fix could be to allow the abs unit to be turned off when code "c1179" occurs. Thank you for your time.

Pulling out of my apartment's parking lot when stopping at a stop sign by brake pedal went to the floor as if it had no pressure. As the pedal hit the floor a loud grinding sound came from the engine compartment. I put the truck in park, turned it off, started it back up and everything worked ok. Went down the street a little more and bam happened again, this time in traffic. If an inexperienced driver has this issue this can and will cause damage to property or people.
I was driving the vehicle, attempted to stop and my brake pedal went to the floor, and I had no primary brake function. I went thru an intersection unable to stop and could have seriously injured my family or someone else. The vehicle does this multiple times, if I shut the engine off, restart the vehicle I have brakes, drive the vehicle and then no brakes. I did some research on line, and it's the brake booster. Nissan knows of the issue, there are literally thousands of exact complaints on line about this same issue. I've contacted Nissan, and I get nothing from them or any assistance. Please, please, do some research on line about this and make Nissan fix their defective vehicles. I have the vehicle parked in the garage because it's unsafe to drive to the dealer for the $1,200. 00 repair and towing bill. As a consumer I need your help.
My brakes appear to make a groan and the brake pedal will shove all the way to the floor before stopping. This happens about once every couple of weeks while driving. I have found that if I pull off the road and restart the truck it appears to reset everything and the brakes are just fine. My truck is a 2004 Nissan Titan that has ~55,000 miles on it. I have no advance warning that this failure is about to happen it just happens without any advance warning.
Rear axle seals leak causing differential fluid to seep out onto the brake rotors. Both front and rear brakes have had problems.
At 55,000 miles the rear axle seals failed on my 2004 Nissan Titan. The seal failure caused a leak which saturated the rear brake apparatus and reduced its holding ability. I reported this to my local Nissan dealer and it was repaired under warranty. I was told that an upgraded rear axle was installed to address the root cause of the premature seal failure. At 138,000 miles the rear axle seals have failed again despite regular fluid changes, and the rear brake apparatus is once again soiled with gear lube. I believe this constitutes a safety hazard and should be addressed as a recall. The dealer refuses to repair under warranty and states that there is no recall. Based on my research, this is a very widespread failure on the Nissan Titan and there are thousands of other Titan owners in the u. S. With the same problem.
Abs brake system, the warning light brake came out while driving when I press on brake pedal the brake froze and when I stopped engine and restart the problem is disappear but is happened quite often when I go to dealer they will charged for inspection for a lot off money.
Dvs system components are bad, system was reprogrammed, but went bad again. Was told this is an issue in all 2004, 2005, and some 2006 Titans and armadas. Trying to fight payment of this repair with Nissan north America, and am being put off.
I have 27,000 miles on this truck, I was in 2 times for brake problems the last time they said it was fixed right due to the new brakes. I have the problem again at 27,000 miles and they say warranty is out!! this was under engineered and now its my problem. Also the rear spring shackle broke sending the leaf spring into the bed of the truck denting it. I bought after market shackles and found the other side was cracked.
My 2004 Nissan Titan leaks profusely onto by emergency brakes. My emergency brakes do not work at all on a hill. The Nissan mechanic has pointed this out to me while the truck was up on the rack. He stated that the left rear axle seal was and still leaking. I would have to replace the seal spacer and bearing, for a grand total of $171. 00 for parts, and almost $200. 00 for labor. This has happen repeatedly on all Nissan Titan trucks. There should be a recall on this item. Owners should be compensated for their expenses on such a defective part.
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. The contact noticed lubrication on his driveway. The dealer stated that the transfer case, rear axle seals, and brake shoes were faulty and needed to be replaced. The current and failure mileages were 71,000.
Brakes on 2004 Nissan Titan chatter and make steering wheel shake when applied!.
I bought a Nissan Titan crew cab, new, in 2004. In June of 2006 the brakes had a complete failure and went all the way to the floor without stopping the truck. This happened several time on my way to the dealership. The Nissan dealership stated the problem was that the software needed upgrading. The saleman also noted that they have had problems with the breaks in the Nissan Titans and armadas. They upgraded the software. The process was called " misc reprogram vdc with update" which I had to pay for. They fixed the issue for that occurence. The breaks worked until yesterday, Dec 13, 2006 when the breaks did the same thing, causing me to run off the road to avoid rear ending into another car. I did not read in the owners manual anywhere , where it stated I must bring the truck in for a computer software upgrade to make the brakes work appropriately. The truck is at the Nissan dealership now to figure out the problem.
