38 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2006

I recently purchased a used 2004 Nissan Titan with 15,000 miles. Soon after purchase the vehicle began to shake when braking. Now it has progressed to a violent shaking of the entire vehicle when braking, making it unsafe to drive. I am planning to replace the rotors, but from what I have read this is only a temporary fix. Nissan should recall and replace the braking system because lives depend on an effective braking system.

39 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2006

Problem with Nissan Titan 2004-traveling on 01/08/06 in Nissan pickup truck w/approx. 28,000 miles on it, attempted to brake, vehicle began swaying violently out of control, brake pedal went to the floor and spun vehicle 180 degrees facing north on the shoulder of the southbound lane of nys thruway. Towing jayco 23' travel trailer; the trailer jack-knifed and hit vehicle. Nys police called a tow truck because vehicle's brake pedal went to the floor and vehicle was not driveable. In the fall Nissan sent a letter to truck owners regarding a "brake judder" condition extending the warranty period. Upon receipt of letter, requested that our local dealer address the issue; were informed until we experienced the "judder" problem, repairs could not commence. Since that time, tires have been rotated, oil changed, and nys inspection in December. Contacted Nissan corp headquarters and were informed factory rep would inspect vehicle on 02/02/06 - approx 25-days after incident. Local dealership cannot inspect vehicle. No assistance by Nissan until inspection by factory representative determining fault, even though the braking system completely failed! after further investigation of this problem on several auto forum sites, it is evident that Nissan Titan's have a serious brake problem! there is no recall . We fear that someone will get maimed or killed!.

40 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2005

2004 Titan se with big tow package. Asd of 26000 miles have had brakes replaced four times, the last time by a Nissan engineer. Also a replaced brake booster. Have already had the recall brakes, those were put on the second time, at 21000 and were problems shortly after, so the recalled brake parts do not work!!! Nissan corporation told us that they felt no responsibility or obligation to replace our vehicle. I feel a class action law suit coming up. And by the way, truck struggles towing 6500lbs, even though it is suppose to tow 9500.

41 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2005

Nissan Titan purchased Jan 04, it has been back to the dealer 3 times now to fix the front brakes. After about 7-9k miles a severe vibration occurs from the front brakes mainly at highway speeds. This in my opinion presents a serious safety issues as the whole truck vibrates violently.

42 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2005

The front brakes on the 2004 Nissan Titan truck began failing after 5000 miles. The dealer acknowledges that this is a design flaw, however, the dealer does not have the parts to fix the brakes. During heavy breaking, there is extreme vibration and shudder which could lead to a loss of control.

43 Service Brakes problem

Brake judder ,lack of formal recall , denial of safety issues , lack of repair/replacement parts.

44 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2005

I have a 2004 Nissan Titan and Nissan has had me and many others in on several different occassions to repair the front brakes. The front wheel would shake when you apply the brakes. Just before the warranty ran out they said they had a fix. They were going to replace the rotors because the were to small for the truck. When I took it in for the repair, the third repair, the had come up with another fix they said and it would fix the problem. I did notice that the brake pedal felt funny. I don't know how to describe it, but it almost felt like it was applying more pressure to the rear brakes to relieve the pressure on the front end. Anyway, since that time I have a company vehicle and I have only put 16k miles on the truck and the front end is shaking again when I apply the brakes. The more the speed and the harder you apply the brakes the more it shakes. Also, I noticed that when the brakes were shaking the front end to shake, something in the front end pops, like when you top a hill. It has gone away every time they have attempted to fix the brakes, but when the shaking starts back so does the popping. I'm not to concerned about the popping, but I am concerned about the shaking. The last thing, two of the three times they attempted to repair the brakes, they have also turned the rotors. Rotors can only be turn a couple of times and have to be replaced. I feel they cheaped out on the repair by patching the problem instead of repairing the problem. I wish you guys would look into it. Whether it's me or someone else, somebody is going to be driving this truck 10 years from now. I do know if you're going 65 or 70 miles per hour and you hit the brakes, it will get your attention. I don't know how safe it will be if Nissan is not made to really fix the problem.

The consumer is experiencing a problem with the brakes. The consumer had to replace the brakes and rotors every 5,000 mi. When applying the brakes, the suspension vibrated which caused the entire front of the vehicle to shake. The owner contacted the manufacturer but received no assistance. The parking brake does not hold vehicle. Emergency brake found to be out of adjustment. Tailgate striker rod out of position and had to be replaced. Fuel door spring/clip deformed.

46 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2005

Gas tank "spews" gas at you when filling. The tank has been replaced and still does this. The brakes "judder" and cause the vehicle to shake. They have been repaired three times and are still not correct. Nissan refuses to admit this is a significant safety issue. There are technical service bulletins on the brakes.

47 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2004

Multiple brake and steering shudder problems with 2004 Titan Nissan se crew cab truck, dealer makes mfg suggested repairs but shudder returns creating safety worries and fear of losing control of vehicle. Moreover, transmission coolant line replaced wherein dealer informs me that blowout could lead to failure. Front tires excessive wear, vibration and shudder with or without brake application. Headlight switch design flawed, easily turned off when turn stalk activated or lights are dimmed from high to low beam. All the above problems occured and still are occuring within first 3500 miles!!.

48 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2004

Brake keep having problems, shake violently enough to be on the edge of loosing control in wet conditions.

49 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2004

The brake on my 04 Nissan Titan would quit working intermittently. The pedal went all the way to the floor and it pulsated and seemed to have no brake. All the service lights went on. I have no control of the brake at all. Very scary feeling. I had to pull over the side of the road and shut down the engine and restarted and the problem went away. It happened intermittently. I bought the truck new in 04 and still have it now 2013. It happens about 5-7 times every year. Nissan needs to own up to it and repair the problem. There are a lot of discussions about the delta stroke sensor. They need to fix this before someone got killed and then they will have a big lawsuit in their hands.

50 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2004

The consumer had the brakes serviced five times during the past year. When taken to get serviced, they could not determine the cause of this problem. The first time the brakes were replaced because of warping.

51 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/01/1901

2004 Nissan Titan brake system problems. Customer states the brakes are prematurely wearing, which causes steering problems and vibration. The consumer began experiencing problems with the brakes at 12,000 miles. The dealer replaced the rotors due to them being warped. When trying to stop the vehicle, the pedal went all the way to the floor. Yet, the brake system did not slow or stop the vehicle. Nissan has attempted to fix the problem a number of times. The mechanic did notice the brake pedal going to the floor and the booster simultaneously making a noise.
