Rear axle seal leaking at 60,000 miles, causing rear brakes & parking brake not to work well.
2004 nissian Titan with 72,000 miles needs rear end axle replaced. I have found many other complaints on same topic and vehical year, make model.
Left rear axle seal leaking.
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the rear differential failed. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the entire rear axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The current and failure mileages were 59,800.
While loading truck for a vacation trip, I noticed a large bulge coming up through the truck bed in the left rear portion. Upon further inspection, the left rear shackle holding holding the leaf spring to the frame snapped in half. The truck is a garage kept, 35,000 mile limited personal use vehicle. If I had not been going away, the spring would have pushed its way through the bed.
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. The right side rear spring hanger failed may 18, 2010 and the left side rear spring hanger failed June 6, 2010. The dealer replaced the hangers but not with a stronger one. The contact was afraid the hangers might fail again. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint; the manufacturer also advised the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealership but that they would not assist in repairs as the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The failure mileage was 28,462. The current mileage was 29,168.
The leaf spring bolt broke and caused the rear axel leaf spring to shoot through the bed of the truck. On inspection the other leaf spring was ready to also break. This was discovered while turning a corner on the road. Passenger and driver side shackle, clips, spring assemble, bolts needed to be replaced. All parts on both sides of the truck needed to be replaced since the other one was found to be defective also. All parts were replaced with new parts at our expense. Nissan stated it was normal wear and tear. However, several master mechanics stated they have never seen this happen.
Normal driving conditions and habits 2004 Nissan Titan crew cab pre-mature failure of rear axle seals both left hand & right hand rear axle seals are leaking @ 54,000 miles. Rear differential oil on inboard sides of brake discs due to leak/s causing reduced braking action. Seals will be replaced possibly dictating axle replacement because Nissan has no tooling to remove the axle bearings.
2004 Nissan Titan rear axle differential is out 108, 000 miles. Water was found in case due to seals going out due to breather hose clogging and not working correctly.
Rear shackle in 2004-2008 Nissan Titan is weak design, prone to failure. I have proof of several documented cases in which the rear shackle unfolds and the leaf spring slams through the bed of the truck, which can result in sudden loss of control. It has happened during normal driving conditions, as well as when towing, off-roading, etc. To correct the problem, before it happens, all that needs to happen is to replace the shackles before they fail and become a safety concern. If the shackle fails, it must be replaced, and the entire suspension system needs to be inspected for safety, and the bed must be replaced.
Rear axle fittings are leaking grease onto brakes.
I have 27,000 miles on this truck, I was in 2 times for brake problems the last time they said it was fixed right due to the new brakes. I have the problem again at 27,000 miles and they say warranty is out!! this was under engineered and now its my problem. Also the rear spring shackle broke sending the leaf spring into the bed of the truck denting it. I bought after market shackles and found the other side was cracked.
2004 Nissan Titan rear axle seal leak with 55k miles. Potential failure of axle and or brakes.
2004 Nissan Titan was brought in for exhaust maintenance. Upon inspection, mechanics noticed axle seal leaks on both rear tires. Nissan dealer offered to replaced seals although vehicle is 7000 miles out of warranty. When warranty work was initiated, dealer then stated that both rear axles were now damaged due to the faulty axle seals. Nissan offered no coverage for the axles, and stated that axle seals could still be replaced under warranty but would only act as a "bandaid" for about 1000 miles before leaking would happen again. At this point nothing has been done to correct the problem.
Rt rear axle seal leaking, dealer called back and stated the there was metal in the rear end lube and the entire rear end would need to be replaced.
Nissan Titan rear end failure.
Brake and rear end failure.
Rear end failure. Replaced rear end.
Noticed a small leak at the right end of rear axle. Also, all the paint was "cooked" off the rear diff cover. Took it to the dealer and the entire rear end assy was replaced under warranty.
Rear axle seal failure on Nissan 04 Titan could cause brake failure by leaking on pad and rotor.
