Nhtsa I own a 2021 Nissan Titan. I am deeply concerned that I have defective air bags. I have had 2 collisions in my vehicle at high rates of speed and none deployed either time. I now fear that this vehicle will not protect me in the unfortunate case of another collision. I do understand they will not deploy under every condition, but I do expect additional protection outside of a seatbelt in a collision at a high rate of speed. In the first collision, I was going 45 mph. I had injuries to my neck and back. I had extensive work done to the suspension, drivers door, headlight, fender, bumper, grill, and the hood. In my second collision, a deer ran into my truck while I was traveling at 70 mph. The head of the deer damaged the headlight and wiring harness, the bumper, grill, and hood and its body heavily damaged my passenger front door and fender. My passenger rear door also had some damage. No injuries occurred but the impacts should have caused a deployment. I am aware that there was a recall on 2021 & 2024 Titans about the air bags having a delayed or failed deployment however I received no letter from this, neither is this in any of my printed service records. I would like Nissan to inspect my air bag system to see if there’s a defect that is causing them not to deploy or to make sure that my Titan was not missed in the group of trucks that had this defect, that way the recall can be extended to more 2021 Titans. I am in fear to drive this truck due to the fact that it may not protect me in the case of another accident. I am ready to purchase another Titan and have been loyal to the Nissan brand after owning 4 altimas, 1 armada, and soon to be 2 Titans.

Purchased this vehicle new 4/3/23. Specidically purchased this truck for towing as it has the built intergated goose neck for a 5th wheel attachment. Recently attempted to put the fifth wheel in to tow our camp trailer, it would not drop down far enough and lock on place on the truck, contacted the dealer and as well took the truck to 4 different businesses that specialize in hitches, only to advised by everyone that there is a factory defect in the trucks system with it being installed too high when holes were drilled thru the frame, the truck is not repairable for towing a fifth wheel or goose neck trailer and if towed as is could break loose causing a accident. It is a extreme safety if this is also occuring on other trucks and less experienced people do not have the knowledge to check things out.

While traveling down highway the check engine light illuminated and I lost all power. I had to get to the side of the highway fast before I got rear ended. This vehicle is extremely dangerous. I purchased used with 10,000 miles on it and this is the second time the engine has lost complete power with no advance notice. First repair by Nissan dealership was blown valve and turbo problems. 8,000 miles later the turbo is throwing error code p2662. This truck is heading towards lemon status with the terrible 5. 0 v8 and it's no wonder Nissan stopped offering the diesel option. Other problem the rear door exterior panel rattles when at 45mph or higher and is quite annoying for a supposed platinum model. I'm beyond disappointed in this vehicle and it should be pulled off the road before someone gets seriously hurt or killed from instant loss of power while in motion. I'm in shock that this diesel motor isn't under investigation. Nissan doesn't have adequate diesel technicians to address these problems. Nissan or cummins need to recall this truck immediately.

There are diesel exhaust fumes coming into the cab while the vehicle is running. There is no difference whether the air conditioning is on recycled, fresh, or if it is off completely. The smell is overwhelming and does not go away even with the window being rolled down. The fumes also come into the cab whether the vehicle is stationary or in motion. The fumes do not increase nor decrease depending on the speed you are driving. The fumes are constantly there, at the same smell.
1 year apart, 30,000 miles apart. I had to get the pdf replaced, catalyic replaced, scr sensors. . . The check engine keeps coming back on. . . I would drive about 30 miles ,check engine lights comes on and I would start losing power. . To where it would shut down itself.
When I'm cruising the rpm flutters and the truck seems to be confused as to what gear it should be on. Acceleration sometimes is hesistant and delayed. The gas pedal needs to be almost full depressed for the truck to accelerate. The front bumper is crooked. I checked for any give on the structure but there were none. There was no collision involved.

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Nissan Titan. The rear end malfunctioned. A pin and a spider gear broke making the rear end useless. The rear brakes did not work, the vehicle did not accelerate and had to be costed off the road. The dealer open road motorsports 1175 village way, monroe, wa 98272 (360) 489-6556 where the vehicle was purchased 2 months ago said they had done the inspections and there was nothing they could do. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall and there was nothing they could do for the contact. The failure mileage was 86,000. Tf.

I purchased this truck on 04/05/18 from harbor motors lihue kauai, and not even a week into having this truck it started acting up, overheating, the truck wouldn't turn over, suspensions, the four-wheel-drive wouldn't disengage, when you turn the key to start the vehicle it would make a clicking noise before starting, the ac would work when it wanted to, and the transmission and engine started knocking. The next week I went running errands and when I pulled out of my yard the truck started jerking then pressed the gas and it revved really high before slamming into drive. Since then I haven't driven the truck. And today it looks like someone just smashed into the front driver light to the side and smashed it while being parked at the place I purchased the truck from. I've continuously asked for help with little to no help at all. The truck is no longer drivable and I'm still making payments on it. The lights on the dashboard has the check enigine light on, snd the abs.

The back two door latches do not open untilled jiggled or continually vibrated. This would not allow the doors to be opened in the event of a emergency. I have taken the vehicle back to be repaired but to no avail. Vehicle was stationary while trying to open doors. Its this a safety hazard since the occupants may not be able to exit the vehicle during a critical time?.
With vehicle stopped, engine off, the doors would not open from inside the vehicle. All four doors are supposed to automatically unlock, but did not do so. I attempted to use the door mounted controls, but the doors did not unlock. I tried to manually unlock the doors using the door locks in the armrest, but the doors would not open. I attempted to use the key fob remote control, but doors did not unlock. The door lock levers would flip from the locked to unlocked position, but the doors would not open. I started and stopped the engine to reset the door locks, but the doors did not unlock. I lowered the side window and attempted to open the drivers door from the outside, but the door would not open. I repeated the above actions several times with no success. A passerby was able to open the front passenger door from outside the vehicle. After climbing out the front passenger door, I attempted to open the other three doors from outside with no success. I used my key in the door lock on the drivers door, but the door would not unlock and open. I repeated this several times with no success. Over some minutes of trying all the above from outside the vehicle, the two rear doors finally opened. The drivers door would not unlock and open. After climbing back into my vehicle via the passenger door, I started to drive home. After about 3 miles I heard the sound of the drivers door unlock and the door actually cracked open on its own. I had to pull the door shut while driving. Upon reaching my house the drivers door operated normally. Nothing like this has ever happened before.
Tamara recall airbag failed to deploy during accident on interstate 70 east bound from grand junction colorado resulted in bent frame of 2012 Nissan Titan.
Door latch assembly freezes and no door can be opened. Truck was parked overnight outside. Doors cannot be opened from outside, if entry is gained doors can be opened from inside.
Transmission shifter can pop out of gear. Saw it happen first with going from drive and switching to neutral. Recently experienced several times it going from park to reverse. Happens while shifting the shifter. After exiting the vehicle the alarm lets you know car is in gear. If your lucky the truck does not roll you over with the open door. Has backed into a building and busted out the right tail lights and crushed side of the bed.
The driver side door handle stopped working on inside or outside creating a trap. Egress can only be achieved by climbing over consoles or seats to escape. Numerous online forums indicate that latches do fail in Nissan vehicles.
Exhaust pipe connection rusted through. Same exact problem someone else noted on their complaint. Connection used between muffler and tailpipe completely rusted away leaving the tailpipe dangling from bottom of truck. This is a manufacturing design issue in which all Nissan Titan trucks since original release had a connector piece that is not galvanized for rust prevention welded to the beginning of the tailpipe and the end of the muffler pipe extension. These pieces are then bolted together with bolts that aren't galvanized. The connection pieces are flanged so they hold water and start rusting. The truck started to shake every once in a while I was at stop light or stop sign. Could not figure problem. I was getting my truck ready to get my wife from the airport when my son notice the tail pipe was crooked. When he looked underneath it was completely disconnected from muffled. I looked except for the connection from muffler to tailpipe everything is fine. In fact it is the only part was completely rusted away. No other part underneath had this corrosion. It is obvious that this was a manufacturer defect in use of materials not suited for any weather conditions. If I had left to get my wife with the truck like this, the pipe could have fallen off on the highway and caused some major issues.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that the spare tire was mounted under the vehicle. The spare tire mounting support fractured and dislodged the spare tire. The contact was concerned that someone could have been injured by the dislodged spare tire. The vehicle was taken to Nissan north (8645 high st, columbus, OH 43235, (614) 846-8100) to be inspected. The contact was informed that the information would be forwarded to the manufacturer for consideration. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Intermittently looses power, total loss of acceleration. Definitely a safety hazard not knowing when it's coming. I'm very familiar with turbo lag, this is not it. Usually happens around 1/4 throttle, squeeling accessory drive belt, exhaust odor in the truck, makes you nauseous, afraid to let my kids ride in it! severe clunking in driveline, rattle in turbocharger, check engine for waste gate, leaking window seals, drips on window switch surges forward when coming to a stop, they say it's shifting into first, it will shove you into an intersection! radio has loud popping, they have attempted fixes many times to no avail. Nissan response "its normal".
Nissan has at each service bulletin on this issues. TSB # ntb05-118a 2004 2005 Titan and armada; outside door handle cable freezes; door difficult to close in cold temperatures Nissan is aware of this problem as well as many many other owners after doing a google search. Stationary happens every night when temperatures fall below 30 deg.
In colder temperatures, the door handles freeze and will not work from inside or outside. The door will also not close as the latch mechanism simply will not engage. This leaves a flapping door that won't close, or if you can close it, you can't reopen it, even from inside. Parked in the cold.
I leased this vehicle from a Nissan dealer last year. They leased it to me as a new vehicle even though it had almost 5,000 miles on it. I was just recently told by a mechanic that the vehicle was in an accident prior to the lease. The dealer did not tell me that it was in an accident. Should I have been told of the accident prior to signing the lease papers? I might have backed out of the lease if I knew about the accident.

2005 Nissan Titan. Door latch failure during cold weather below freezing. Live in PA, so time period of this weather is December - March. Door will not open, nor close properly from inside, or outside of vehicle. Had this problem last week, was not able to get back into vehicle for 10min . Yesterday driving on a highway door opened unexpectedly and passenger nearly fell out of vehicle. No one injured, however you can imagine the experience at highway speeds. I must drive the vehicle with a ratchet strap from one door to the other to keep them shut. This is not safe but the only way to fix the issue at this time. There is a Nissan TSB that they will replace door locking mechanism if vehicle is under warranty. Nissan USA: tbns bx56aa / TSB 05118. However if vehicle is not under warranty they quoted me at $400+ per door x's 4 doors. This is unreasonable and a severe safety hazard for most of the country that experiences weather below 32degrees f. It is a known failure that Nissan USA knows about. This should be a mandated recall. There will be severe lawsuits filed if another passenger, my child, or myself cannot get into a vehicle, or unexpectedly falls out. Below are links to a Nissan Titan online forum with multiple other complaints about this. Frozen door latch problem not solved. . . Please advise winter problems with Titan from USA frozen door handles frozen doors doors wont close when cold!! Nissan new TSB for the frozen door handles!.

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Nissan Titan. The contact indicated that the abs sensor intermittently illuminated. The contact noticed that upon inspecting the vehicle, the flange on the exhaust pipe was rusted along with the two bolts and there was an exhaust leak under the vehicle along with a crack on the exhaust manifold. The vehicle was to be taken to an authorized dealer for further inspection, diagnosis and repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 71,400. Dyd.

Traveling 20 to 25 mph, up a hill, in 4 wheel drive road conditions when there was a loud "bang". The rear of the vehicle immediately shifted to the right, striking a tree. Never would you expect a vehicle to brake in such a way as to throw you into oncoming traffic. I believe that this defect should be immediately investigated and a recall issued. Dealer service department determined that the front differential and transfer case had to be replaced due to catastrophic failure. The front axle had backed out resulting in fluid leaking out. I was told that this was a known defect that had been redesigned.
Overhead console plastic becomes too brittle to support weight of console causing mount points to break allowing console to swing down. My console nearly hit me in side of the head. This cause view to be obstructed and could easily hit driver. Upon researching this for repair I found many other having the same issue. My guess is an inferior batch of plastic in the 08 lineup.
After a freeze during the night, I went to open the driver side door. The door latch cable snapped the first time I tried it. This now poses a hazard if in the case of an emergency I cannot open the driver's door.
While driving, heard a bang, did not notice any damage at first. Later once the truck was parked at home seen the driver side rear leaf spring was pushed through the bed of the truck. (have pictures, if needed) the part pushed through the metal of the bed as well as the spray on bed liner. Took truck to the local garage, was afraid to drive any further than just a couple miles. The mechanic stated that he could not believe that this happened given the year of the truck. Upon further examination he recommended that the passenger side be replaced as well, before it broke also, he stated that it was very thin metal. The replacement part was purchased at the a dealer and I was told that they have had numerous incidents where this part has broken causing similar damage. Repairs to the truck will also require replacing the truck bed possible. This truck has not been taken off road nor has it been used to haul items, it has a fiberglass bed cover on it.
Acccident involving right front impact after hitting a ditch. Disabling impact. Vehicle towed. Side airbag deployed.
I've been having problems with a leak in the roof. I always noticed a damp musty smell after it rained but never found anything other than rear sliding window was damp until after a heavy rain I made a sharp left and caught out of the corner of my eye water flying out of the sliding window track. I've tried looking to see where it was coming from but can't find the exact location. Let me point out I never use the rear window. After months and yrs of fustration I siliconed the entire rear window and took off brake light and did that too but still getting water. I've read online its very common problem with no remedy yet.
There seems to be a paint defect on my Nissan Titan on the hood and roof. I have mentioned it to the dealer since 2009 but they deny any blame. I now notice the exact similar pattern defect in multiple Titans. The clear coat is worn away almost down to the metal. I have contacted Nissan but they say unless there are enough complaints they do not have to address it. I realize this is not life threatening, but I wanted to lodge a formal complaint because it is a defect that will affect me when I go to trade it in and it is something that I notice with most other Titan owners of trucks this age.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that the paint was more gray than blue around the door jam area of the vehicle. He stated that there did not appear to be three layers of paint in that area. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they offered him a trade at the cost of $3,000. The contact declined their offer. The dealer requested that Nissan send them pictures. Once the pictures were received, the dealer was unable to find anything wrong. However, they do acknowledge the failure. The failure mileage was unknown, but the failure began within weeks of the vehicle being purchased. The current mileage was 11,000.
